Bloomington to our South weather from the great white North that’s how football should be played in the playoffs well there’s no doubt about it and when the wind is picking up here now I I think the snow is is behind us literally and figuratively I don’t think there’s going to be any more snow tonight but if the wind picks up it it it becomes a little different proposition and it it’s going to be chilly but look this is it it it’s chilly for the fans it should be great for the the players themselves as the wind picks up a little bit more it may be a little bit more challenging for the the uh the quarterbacks and the wide receivers but I you know really I think this plays into Nord Dame’s hands Nord Dame’s a more physical football team who’s going to be tougher in the trenches in these conditions I like Notre Dame I said 40 rushes for the letter love price trium I probably underestimated it if the weather’s like this because this is a different level of cold I was talking with Tom receivers that are 22 23 years old yeah it’s a it’s a group of Veteran receivers that have played a lot of football but none of them has played a lot of football in this weather and I don’t care where of December so it’s history on hand I’m like you guys I think Notre Dame is the more physical team I think Notre Dame is the deeper team and the best way I can put it is as I’ve talked with people in the program over the last 10 days including as recently as yesterday I said okay give me your keys to the game and I want to stress how much this program of Notre Dame respects the coaching staff and what Indiana has done but they’ve said look they’re incredibly well coached they don’t beat themselves we’re the better team and that’s what it boils down to Notre Dame is the better team Notre Dame is the more talented Team Notre Dame is the home team and Notre Dame by the way has the Dual threat quarterback that I think Prov the difference today Tim prer I think I’ve asked you this is the 11th game since Northern Illinois beat Notre Dame and had a successful drive to kick a field goal to win it I think I’ve asked you seven times can this team attack Notre Dame’s defensive line to the point where they can keep the Irish pass rush on us where where Ro can use play action can I you run the ball against Notre Dame if they have to run the ball against Notre Dame I I’m going to say I doubt it and again I want to say that I mean I’ve been saying this for three weeks this is a really good Indiana football team and I’m not saying that they can’t come in here and win a foot b game but I like Notre Dame’s chances against a ground game that’s mid-range we do like their running backs but I don’t think especially with Howard Cross the third back I don’t think that there are going to be consistent inroads against Nord Dame’s defensive line I think eventually they will get a pass rush we had questions during the week you know is El golden going to have to send people from the second and third level certainly on occasion because you don’t have your best pass rushers but of the two lines I’m more concerned about Notre Dame’s offensive line win than I am nord’s defensive line winning and that’s crucial because if Indiana can control that empty possessions Bryce when you have n name gets into that a couple empty possessions are fine you’re going to have a three and out you’re going to have a six and out where you’re only gain 20 yards it’s when you get into that rut when it gets difficult and you keep IU in a game that you you should be able to pull away and if you keep IU in this game there’s only one team nervous in the middle of the third quarter you have to minimize your empty possessions for sure but if you’re Notre aame what you can’t do is give away possessions and I’m a firm believer that as long long as Notre Dame doesn’t lose the turnover margin in this game by two plus Notre Dame wins this contest the field position is going to be key I think both teams will have their share of empty possessions today I think it comes down to special teams I think field position is going to be incredibly important and again I think Notre Dame will take better care of the football I think if Indiana is forced to go to the air as the wind continues to swirl as it picks up a little bit more I think that makes it more ripe for the picking of by the way the guy who’s best at interceptions in college football over the last two season none other than consens consensus All-American xw Watts Xavier watts is my pick to click you guys all three of us I think have Mitchell lens all the time this is a Mitchell Evans football game this is a tight end football game they have a quality tight end too what do you see from the Irish passing game other than Mitchell Evans because Riley Leonard has to be able to beat that zone coverage for the running game to dominate rather than just eek its way out to victory yeah I I think Jaden great house is another one Indiana likes to play a lot of Zone this is something we talked about before that well we did and also uh weeks ago for the USC game by the way my pick to click is Leonard Moore because I think there’s going to be a back shoulder throw to to Elijah Sarat that he’s going to come up with but yeah a Mitchell Levens game and look we can we’ve for three weeks we talk about Jeremiah love his knee is knee and everybody wanted to discount it let’s see if he’s ready the Nord Dame needs a 100% or 90 to 95% jeremi love tonight it’s all hands on deck jadarian price is a great running back and and and I agree that the real the the real key is Riley Leonard and his ability to run the football but uh you know there’s got to be some receivers that Nord him can count on in the two that we mentioned Evans and great housee would be at the top of the list my final point is low Rush efficiency but I think notame breaks off enough chunks in this game I think the way Indiana attacks is a rush efficiency might not be high but Notre Dame will control it with some more 10 yard gains 12 yard gains and of course Jeremiah Love J Darian price and Riley Leonard can all rip off 30 plus yeah I don’t know that we’ll see another 60 yard run like we’ve somewhat become accustomed to over the course of this season be it from jaylo or jadarian Price what I do think is that Notre Dame will stick to what it does best it will again rely on its dual threat quarterback and it will chunk them some but more in that 12 18 24 yard range than the big ones uh I agree with you guys I’ve said it for a couple of weeks now I like Mitchell Evans in this game Jaden greous in the slot I think this game is Taylor Made for him I’ve repeatedly said this is a Riley Leonard legs game and then one other quick note here that um I’ve gotten permission to share with people and that is first of all congratulations to Marty baji and his wife they welcomed new twins into the world on Thursday not a busy week yeah but on the flip side of that very very somber news uh Marty baji’s dad has terminal lung cancer um he may not make it through the game Marty baji will wear be wearing his dad’s old Letterman’s jacket through the player walk today this Jack is 50 to 60 years old so if you’re going to the player walk pay special attention we’re thinking about the baji family but not that Notre name needs any extra emotions but there’s a lot of emotions Riding High in this contest John and I understand that Marty baji’s dad has assured him that he’s going to do everything he can to watch the game tonight so uh all the
