[Music] that is a tough fa for the Golden State Warriors as they fail to beat Indiana and Indiana’s rolling right now they’ve won six to seven they’ve won five in a row and they’ve improved to 6 and0 all time at T Center they’ve yet they lose inside this building something’s got to give as the Warriors drop this one by six they have to wear this one until Christmas Day when they take on the LA Lakers we’ll talk all about it here in Toyota Warriors post game live with the pride of Y zenada NBA champion Festus aili I am vonte Hill and the game of runs a game of runs right that’s what Hoops is all about and the Pacers made all the plays on the stretch Fe it made all the plays throughout the game the their Pace was really what you could see this whole game The Warriors had 11 turnovers they gave up 13 points off of that the paces on the other they had 12 turnovers the Warriors did not score off of that so every time the Warriors gave the ball up the Pacers went on to score every time the B the Pacers got the ball they they just they never let the Warriors never conceded anything at The Rim they were right there bigger guys Miles Turner was contesting every shot get the bench for the Warriors did a great job tonight but the Warriors need to find a way to have offense that they can count on at the end of the games fesus laid it out beautifully the Warriors didn’t capitalize on their opportunities when you look at the score differential the Warriors left six points at the free throw line they also left 16 points in transition 10 for them uh 26 for the the the Pacers I mean this was a game of who can capitalize on the mistakes of the others and the Indi rers took over and the Warriors now three and seven in their last 10 and really they were rolling in the first half they were up 46 to 37 it felt like they had the tempo they were dictating the pace they really made you pay this is not a great rebounding team in the Pacers they’re actually 28th in the league right now and rebounding but still tonight against the Warriors at home where the Warriors should have been the ones dictating the pace and playing with Force they actually ended up being the ones because the Warriors turned the ball over to start the game gave them some momentum gave them some confidence offensively and they just came into the game and just were kept they kept pushing the Warriors never push back yeah lack of physicality there about to go to State Warriors all night long but they did get back into the basketball games even in the third quarter you got to credit Andrew nart that that young man for the Indiana Pacers he knew exactly where he was going making sure that Steph Curry who is the head of the snake if you take that off you got to let the body see what it’s going to do which is the role players the bench for the Warriors did a great job they were scoring but they could not sustain that scoring effort because when you take Steph Curry out that gravity that they usually run that offense through it wasn’t there and that ball movement that Steve ker keeps talking about that’s what the Warriors need to get back to especially in those crunch time situations Those runs were made when Steph Curry will push the ball off the floor and they get shots and they get offensive rebounds that’s when you see the Warriors rolling when they couldn’t get those rebounds they weren’t getting good shots then they really struggled there you know with great scouting on nimart you called him in the pregame show saying is going to see a lot of nimart exactly he was locked in I mean it was almost like a box and one in certain cases the way he was focused on step but on your point of passing the ball up if you could do a diagram looking from an eagles perspective of how Indiana pushed the ball up the floor it was tyres halberton constantly searching for his teammates going up the floor versus the lateral passes that you saw Golden State doing and it Wasted Time by that point the Pacers were able to get back on defense and then it was a we have to create we have to figure this out and that takes a lot out of the the GSW offense that isn’t super easy in the half court to be able to to execute and the half court offense failed on again down the stretch here where the Warriors this game was in the balance how many times have we said clutch time situations who’s going to make a play for the goto State Warriors well the plays are made on the other sideline I’ll say the Pacers played the triangle offense on that half of the Court really well they forced Draymond have to come over for help and then JK had to make a decision between the two uh assignments on the end but Miles Turner is one of the best three-point Shooters on the floor for the Pacers I’d rather you come up on him stretch five who can shoot it Miles Turner is a good player four for four in that fourth quarter again and the Pacers look they turned the ball over four times but to both of your points the Warriors did not make them pay not scoring off of one of those turnovers and the Warriors actually took care of the basketball in the fourth quarter a shot 7 to 21 however and just 33% now Stephen Curry goes two or 13 from the fora tonight he’s had some low scoring nights over the last week no doubt about that Memphis last Thursday where he scored just two points and for the first time in his career played 15 minutes it didn’t make a field goal well tonight he had to wait until the 441 second Mark in the third quarter to make a field goal just going two of 13 10 points tonight the plus minus went to his Factor but 35 minutes and that’s on Andrew nard and IND Pacers paying attention to details and knowing where Steph was at at all times we talking about how this is a copycat League Bonte couple games ago the Memphis Grizzlies paid no attention to anybody else they had a guy assigned to Steph Curry and said don’t even think about helps side defense just focus on Steph and that guy held Steph to two points since then every team has found a way to do this in some kind of variation right now the Indiana Pacers which is not a great def defensive team they just copied the same thing just put a guy and Drew neard right on Steph Curry and make sure that he doesn’t get anything going and with that they broke up the offense now for the Warriors in a game like this whenever you have people focusing on stuff like that your job if you’re a role player Brandon psky Moses Moody any of the guys thenur that who’s a role player who is a ball handler as well your job is to penetrate the defense make other guys commit once they do that then a tjd is open on the lob then a Andrew Wiggins is open on the wing then a Jonathan kaminga can drive or whatever it is you saw that in in in in different stints but you didn’t see that consistently consistently it’s a great point there was a play in which Steph was bombarded with Pacers defense he was able to get the ball over the defense to an Andrew Wiggins at the free throw line who was then able to find a JK for an easy lob these types of things when you’re getting overwhelmed by defense where are your players where are they moving and cutting to be within your eyesight I kept looking for that one play I don’t know what’s going on but there was a beautiful play in which which his Defender uh Steph’s Defender as well as the screener defender came up on him he was able to get the ball over the screener defense and then be able to keep the offense going I don’t know why the Warriors have not been able to capitalize on that the same way that Tyrese halberton was doing that all night no doubt TJ D was four for four in that first quarter with eight points he had a big solid night playing off with Stephen Curry 13 and eight for the big fella that’s the whole point of when you say strength and numbers and you talk about how deep the Warriors are that’s exactly what it is when Steph Curry is getting double teamed when he is when they’re taking him out the game they have other guys on the team with high IQ that can play and that can score the whole point of going small and and really cap doubling down on that small lineup Steve cerr is you have IQ players high IQ players that can score at any point at any point in the game you’re supposed to play faster than the other team they did not do that tonight the in Pacers were faster than it even if they were even though they were on the back to back tonight you’re supposed to make them make those Tire leg legs run the whole time especially in the second half but they didn’t capitalize on it they turned the ball over got out of rhythm got out of whack offensively and they just never could get into Rhythm the whole rest of the game and we witness another special performance from Tyrese Halbert who finished with 16 points 12 assists and six rebounds I think he’s one of the young exciting players to watch in the NBA fezy what do we need to call the hotel that the basers stand that maybe maybe they’re too comfortable here aringa fi alarm at 3 in the morning wake up they got their feet up in the in the house over here at Chase Center they are at home they got their feet up got their feet on the couch I don’t know what’s going on anymore sticking nart here at Chase Center couple years ago he destroyed the Warriors in an overtime win now he’s shadowing Steph Curry all over the place I’m sticking his team Andrew nart tyes hurn Pascal seaka even Ben Matan coming into the game making plays I mean you got to find a way to make teams uncomfortable here about TJ Mell in that third quarter highlight that he’s a 20% three-point shooter the basket finishing at the basket and making the three threes in the third fre TJ mcconell that’s foul money he’s made a good career for himself man little guy in this league he’s been able to capitalize on using his speed his high IQ and and he is every time in transition you see him trying to play faster than the other team that’s exactly what you want to see from the Warriors point guard no doubt about that a tough L for the goto State Warriors three and seven in their last 10 games Indiana’s rolling Warriors going to figure this out we’ll he from the head coach Steve Kerr on the other side Toyota Warriors postgame live I think Steph went two or 13 I mean did you um are you seeing like fatigue at all in in maybe his shooting lately uh well not last game you know um so tough night for him but um you know it happens um I thought I thought we got good looks um for much of the game I thought our guys played um really good basketball uh for good for good stretches slow start with the turnovers and then we got we got that uh settled quickly and uh our guys competed and um had had chance as we just couldn’t couldn’t put the ball in the basket and um sometimes that’s what it comes down to with with the way kaminga played do you feel like you know your message was received a little bit I I don’t I don’t like what are we what are we talking about like we this is there’s 82 games there’s all kinds of stuff happens I coach and so I say stuff and I say stuff to all the guys and JK was great tonight played it played play played uh a fantastic game so um not about a message or anything just it’s all part of the Season generally see seemed to like you like the offense late in the game you just I mean is that right you just feel like you miss shots I thought we had some some good looks um again we we really took care of the ball um after that first quarter I think we only had maybe five turnovers the last three quarters um and yeah got some good looks we had we had some possessions that uh that weren’t great but um all in all pretty good looks love the way the guys competed and and stuck together and um had some really good performances from from several people um just um like I said um you know just couldn’t couldn’t knock down shots enough shots to win the game it also seemed like that you they found some defensive energy in that fourth quarter that maybe wasn’t always there in the first three U did you see how what do you think of the fourth quarter defense it’s great yeah you know like I said we we competed and I thought we got um you know a little down um couple times earlier in the game you know hung our heads a little bit um you know complain to the refs like we we we lost our energy first quarter we were throwing the ball ahead getting it out quick second quarter that kind of came to a stop and that that really hurt us um but I saw that um spark in the second half um guys did a great job getting back in the game um just couldn’t couldn’t finish it Draymond left for you know pretty much the entirety of the third quarter was that I think he came down to see the training Stu I think shuder was a minus 22 um what have you seen from him in terms of getting to know the offense the system working around him and adjusting yeah he’s uh you know it’s the third game with us so it’s going to take some time but I love um I love what I see from Dennis um you know just in terms of the the ball pressure um I thought he did an excellent job defensively um you know he’s a guy who uh is uh streaky as a shooter I’ve seen him um and I I know it’s just a matter of time before he starts knocking him down but there’s going to be nights where shots aren’t going but um Dennis is a great addition for us and um you know he’s going to help us win a lot of games what makes the the Pacers so hard to defend it looks like I mean obviously halberton is doing his thing but they look looked like they were get able to get open shots maybe at a pretty high rate at times five out you know modern NBA five Shooters um makes makes for a lot of court to cover so when uh you know seak and Turner are stretching you out U Top and you know they’re big Shooters you have to honor that and it opens up the lane what do you think think the team needs to improve the most to play against Lakers on Wednesday um besides the shutting efficience I I just think we have to keep keep at it you know keep uh keep plugging away um you know there we’ll watch the film tonight and I’m sure there’s some things we can improve on you know execution wise at both ends um but I’ve said it all year I I really like this team I like the guys I like the competitive desire um I like how connected they are and um you know it’s just a matter of um taking that next step as a team you know um showing the um you know the grit and the execution to to finish these these close games that we’re not finishing right now Steve getting back to kaminga real quick not just the points but the way he scored tonight really attacking aggressive and he had four assists tonight is this the prototyp What type of game you want this is this is the the JK we want uh spent a lot of time in the paint um you know took care of the ball um we had a couple really nice passes found buddy early in the game for a three on a beautiful play um and um really attacked so this is uh you know this is a a great example of of of how JK needs to play I’m really proud of him for coming out and and playing that way and um you know he’s uh he’s getting better and it’s fun to fun to watch his development thank you does your game feel better right now than it did maybe early in the season um I wouldn’t necessarily say better um I think just sticking with it uh just listening to the vets listening to the coach um they instill confidence in me and then just going out to play um I felt like I’ve been picking it up probably the last week since the Dallas game I’ve gotten my confidence back and playing at a higher level but coach basically just keeps reminding me Just Energy uh running the floor and uh toughness so just trying to instill that and just give the guys energy bring the Vets energy and stuff of that nature was it something that happened in the Dallas game or I mean is something that clicked a little bit or I mean obviously the playing time’s going up too um I would necessarily say there wasn’t a click um I feel like in the Dallas game um I was just trying to help Draymond get going and um I was trying to bring him energy and C him a pass for three just talking to him and so I just continued to just talk and just try to bring energy in that sort of way Trace when kaming is playing like he was tonight really aggressive attacking and and even dish a couple times what’s the domino effect that that has on the rest of the offense um we love when JK plays like this um downhill I’m getting to the rim and then he causes so much pressure on the rim when he’s playing like that making those easy passes for kicks and it elevates our team and uh gives us a lot of energy and so we just need him to continue doing that and just playing with that high level and a high aggression I trace uh the shots didn’t fall down the stretch when you guys needed but did you like the way things were were going um offensively except you know just a matter of a few balls not going down yeah um we we uh started the game a little slow when we fought back in it and uh basketball is a game of runs um they went on a run in the third quarter as well and then brought it back but we just didn’t have enough tonight um like you said shots didn’t fall but at the same time we’re right there at the end and so we just got to find a way to close it out and how much do you look forward to you know CHR Christmas Day Under The Lights LeBron on the other side and the and the Lakers and you know a little bit of rivalry and and a lot of people spirited for the day yeah um Prime Time game I think we have the last game of the evening is that right second to last so um late night game it’s going to be a lot of fun um it’s going to be packed it’s going to be loud and uh can’t wait to can’t wait to [Music] play Brandon where uh where do you feel like this game was lost uh I’m not sure I got to just I got to watch it over again but um there are some e and flows I think they got on transition a lot with off turnovers are just getting the ball off fast uh but I think I got to watch it over again to be really sure what happened how would you um evaluate your individual play tonight it seemed like you were playing with a with a bunch of energy yeah just try to impact the game as much I could um both hands of the floor taking on the challenge uh with Gary out tonight so uh bunch of times guarding TJ or or Tyrese you uh went on social media I think yesterday and you kind of post that clarification post I was just wondering why I guess you felt the need to to kind of um yeah I think by my statement uh it could be tricky and it can be perceived in a different way than it was uh made out to be uh you know I respect the hell out of Steph Draymond Steve all them guys I look up to them um so I just wanted to clarify that and so it wouldn’t get twisted in any other way um from what I meant um so so that’s why I felt the need to do that Brandon what did you see out of uh johnon tonight y being aggressive being assertive um you know solid 30 minutes from him uh very efficient and so hopefully you know he just keeps that same mentality and um with everything going on just controlling what he can control and keep reducing for us I’m just looking at your three-point numbers the last seven eight games or so how much better does your shot starting to feel I mean it’s good uh you guys look at it you know because it’s going in but I think um the behind the scenes work has just been consistent throughout the whole year um all from Portland all the way to now um you guys are just seeing it because it’s going in uh but everything else has just remained consistent and it’s going to be the same uh whether it goes in or not I know I put a lot of time into it [Music] cool what do you kind of pin this this loss on um I think that last stretch of the second quarter was kind of rough you know we lost a little bit little bit of momentum gave him life went from one possession game to or we had a lead actually to down eight and then fought back second half um play with a lot of energy think down the stretch um you know that’s obviously maker Miss League I missed two big shots uh want to tie want to try to take the lead shots that um you know pride myself on got to make those they are very athletic and try to play you know physical and we had spurts where we could match that but you know we got to be able to put it together 40 minutes where you you know you uh sustain that level of intensity and IQ and execution uh and against a team that has that many offensive threats if you give them life and it’s going to be tough so I got to play better and I will but I think as a whole we just got to maintain our our confidence in what we’re doing um and not have those little spurts where we give a team life you obviously had the big finish the other night and the win um but overall in December your your shooting numbers are down just how do you feel right now how does your game kind of feel like it can be a lot better than it will be um you know you’re being defended a certain way but it’s nothing that I haven’t seen before you just got to understand um you when to pick and choose your spots based on the attention you get get the ball moving find a try to find a rhythm a little earlier um that might be a little bit of an adjustment but something I’ve been through and I always try to find a way to bounce back stepa along those lines I mean you have tomorrow and then Christmas Day LeBron and the Lakers are here in prime time I mean is that give you a chance to bounce back right away and how much do you look forward to those you know big Christmas Day matchups the the more you’re going to go through it the more comfortable you get with the balance of family and playing a game um I mean obviously it’s a big game I think another game with two teams who wanted to be in better positions going into Christmas trying to still figure it out so we’re at home we haven’t really protected home court well as of late Christmas spirit hopefully can bring some uh some gifts our way with the win so uh excited for the opportunity knowing it’s a chance to bounce back uh Steph I mean you’ve dealt with nard as far as a defender on you a few times I mean what’s basic’s what’s made him good on you basically what’s uh what makes him just tenacious what stands out about how he guards you and what he does well in that matchup I think uh certain guys and schemes where you could tell their job is to stay on me don’t worry about anything else and if they they have the endurance to do it it’s uh you know you kind of love that that back and forth kind of battle um yeah I think he’s he takes defense you know that’s his that’s his role especially in that starting unit whoever you know the best scorer is go-to guy he takes that responsibility but you know um I’ll find a way Steph I don’t know if it’s just impression but looks like you’re changing here you’re changing your game like a little bit um like you’re looking to P your to me more and shooting less I don’t know if it’s this is happening but can you talk about that um well how teams defend they’re going to not I mean one of the game players probably going to try try to take away my my looks and you know get the ball going other places which we’re fine with because usually that creates good shots for other guys on our team um I I need to get you know be able to use my shots a threat be able to score the ball the way way I’m used to and uh I think more more though the people are selling out trying to you know send bodies whether it’s traps off ball screens or um I’m off the ball make sure you know guys are aware of where I’m at but the I think the more you kind of see that the more comfortable you get understanding again where to pick and choose your spots where to be aggressive U tonight I kind of let him take me out of it in the first quarter I think I only got one shot in the first quarter and that’s unusual for sure so I need to solve that puzzle I was going to kind of ask you about that because you mentioned wanting to to catch a rhythm early is that just coming out and shooting more early well no cuz I mean sometimes again you’re going to shoot over double teams the whole time that’s probably not a uh sustainable type offense but uh they getting on the ball a little bit more especially with a team that’s selling out like like they were tonight and um yeah just trying to figure out again how to balance using me off the ball to create havoc and you know find those reads versus trying to get good looks early same way it’s been in years past that’s me to figure it out Steph um Steve had been kind of critical of kinga’s shot selection and his decisionmaking the past two games at least that’s what he told us pregame today um when kaminga plays like he did tonight what does he do for you guys I mean he was the probably the best player out there in the sense of attacking being decisive I think I talked about after the game the other night anytime you’re decisive and aggressive um you live with mistakes but playing in the in the flow of the offense taking what the defense gives you you saw him getting to the paint get a couple extra possessions for us he knocked down his open open threes um was getting downhill putting pressure on the rim doing the things that he he only only he can do really on our team so we love energetic confident JK he can change the game for us like he did and um stringing a couple of those games together will you know hopefully rise our level of play um and give us a chance to win any given night Steph do do you think people forget how hard it is for you to score some nights I mean when you have two guys flying at you or a hand in the face or it’s it’s not as easy you’re Stephen Curry but it’s it’s not always an easy night I don’t need any sympathy I’ll be all right I appreciate you though does that just add to the challenge I guess I mean just it’s what I signed up for yep I love it
