forward spot they’ve been making a ton of different moves and they playing fairly well as of late but it’s still they still have an obvious hole and Fraser Minon came up he was kind of Manning that third line Center Spot he’s been looking very solid but a new trade target has emerged for the Toronto Maple Leafs and it is as you can see right here Brandon sad so according to Elliott Freeman he says that the St Louis Blues would like to move Brandon sad he has one more year left on his deal after this season and has a no trade clause but is willing to consider other options and per pipedia that end the no trade clause becomes a 12 team no trade list on July 1st you like to think he would get moved before that his current cap hit is 4.5 million so it’s an interesting player to discuss specifically obviously he a left wing he’s 32 we kind of go into the the win now mode the leaf are pursuing but it’s interesting Target and rumors are circulating surrounding the Leafs here yeah it’s very interesting this is also a guy who’s played under Craig Brew before as well like a couple seasons ago so it’s a very interesting Target and to me the fact that he has a no trade clause yes it says something but it feels like this could be a mutual agreement where both parties decide to ways because at the end of the day next year I feel like the St Louis Blues want to get younger anyway and next year his no trade clause turns into a 12 team no trade list so why not trade your you know get traded this year uh maybe to a competitor and have a chance to win a Stanley Cup and if you’re the Toronto Maple Leafs um you know I don’t think any Leaf fans management have any interest in trading for rentals anymore we know what’s happened with players like that whose contracts end that season or that summer they just end up walking anyway so you know Ryan O’Reilly and Luke Shen for example so he does have term left still and you could sprinkle a little retention in a deal there and obviously you can get him for a lesser cap hit so I feel like this is something that they can definitely make work there was also another report that the Leafs are looking for centerman and not necessarily a third line Center could be a second line Center maybe move tarz to the wing but now that a guy like Brendan sod is available maybe you rethink that a little bit because I think tarz you know the foot speed is always kind of been an issue but he’s been playing okay at second line center right so I don’t know if you want to replace him I still think that they’re looking for a center and still kicking tires on everyone but I think this is a very interesting option I’ve talked a lot about you know during the summer that the Leafs need to add guys who’ve been there who’ve won the Stanley Cup or at least gone farther in the playoffs and this is a guy who’s won two Stanley Cups so it’s a very interesting option yes he’s a little bit older but his contract expires next year maybe you add a bit of a sweetener and you get him for a retained salary price so I think if they want to make this work they can it just depends on if they want to Pivot or not cuz obviously it looks like they’re still looking for a center yeah we’ve seen like you mentioned rentals from every team they really work out really it’s how your team is built in the offseason which is what Brad living is very good at but inside you have an extra year of control after this year which kind of lines up with the primes of their players of course you do have tarz and Marner becoming pending ufas which is interesting of course you can see here I got a minut how funny it be for the Army to say I got a Trey Brandon s’s declining extensive on on the same day we know that the blues acquired Cam Fowler who was also an aging player so an interesting one there but it does make sense if they are shopping him which according to Elliot Freeman they are for the Leafs to pursue him and I’m curious to see what you all think about we’ll get into his stats here in a minute but if you’re unfamiliar with Brandon s his familiarity with Craig baru he played under Buu for a few seasons so I wonder if the Leafs are in on this he would fit the mold of a big and strong Winger that TR living would covet as well as 6’1 215 he’s really struggled this season so St Louis would have to retain to make it attractive to the Leafs and again it seems kind of be like the highlight of this season at least the trade rumors are the Leafs buying low on a lot of players and they’d also be selling low on a player like Nick Robertson I’ll ask you now what kind of package do you think before we get into some of the stats here would make sense for Brendan S considering the fact that like you can see he’s been very solid a 40 Point per game player 40 Point per game 40 Point per season players sorry 40 points per game would magnificent there but anyways 40 points per season you look at it and this season he’s been pretty bad taking a big dip he only has 10 point not bad still but not what he’s you know used to here what kind of trade do you think would work out here I think they could like I mentioned uh Nick Robertson could be an interesting piece here but again they’d probably want brenon s to retain some salary yeah they would need a sweetener I think so any trade involving Brenan S I think you know for the Toronto Maple Leafs would need to involve some draft picks like a sweetener to get that salary done because you’re not going to you know take on 4.5 million it just doesn’t make sense Nick Robertson could be another piece and I see a lot of people saying don’t be you know a lot of people are not on Nick Robertson’s side anymore a lot of people are saying don’t be too quick to trade him at this point you know I said I was the biggest Nick Robertson Defender earlier this season we are well into the season now and not he’s not giving much and he’s getting scratched games uh multiple games in a row so not a great sign this is a guy who you know could fit in maybe on the third line that third line is the only line on the Leafs right now that doesn’t really have an identity and yes he is strugging uh struggling excuse me on St Louis but St Louis is not a contending team right I wonder what he looks like on the Leafs and I’d rather a guy like Brendan sod who’s been there knows how to win the Stanley Cup uh knows how to play in the playoffs is obviously not the biggest guy but he plays hard right plays heavy I’d rather him on the third line than a guy like pontis Holberg who we’ve seen on the third line at time this season and Max do is not necessarily going either so um I wonder what he would look like on the Leafs I’m not saying it’s a perfect fit but the fact that we know that maybe he’s being chopped around maybe you can get him for obviously a little bit of a a better price just because he’s struggling a little bit this year but I think it would have to involve a draft pick with some retained salary and then maybe you’re looking at you know St Louis probably wants a younger guy like Nick Robertson right which wouldn’t be too bad Nick Robertson I I still think he has a high ceiling and he might figure it out somewhere else but doesn’t seem like he’s figuring it out so far this season and I gave him a lot of wrong and Nick you know like I was the his biggest Defender earlier this season we’re well into the season now maybe he’s a part of a trade yeah and let us below would you do or would you entertain if you Lea a contract or trade sorry of Robertson and maybe a later pick but again salary would have to be retained here in Freeman notes some other players which will’ll probably cover in future videos as they get linked to the Leafs Vincent de har Trent Frederick and of course Brandon s I’m not saying OT should make a move but I still watch them as a team who could continue to look to make a push and again I think regarding these players there going to be a lot of other teams where it’s Canadian teams are not looking to acquire a player like this he fits a lot of the mold for a lot of teams and what they’re looking for and you look at some things here you look at his J fresh CH shout out to J fresh for this shoot first scoring Winger still has okay Wheels kind of a combo net front rebound tapping guy transition player not very involved uh defensively at this point which I think the the Leafs have been pretty good defensively this season I wouldn’t mind some more guys who can score the puck obviously we’ve been talking about we have Austin Matthews Mitch Marner like I mentioned you weren’t there obviously in the Stream continues to defer to Austin Matthews and hasn’t been shooting the puck as much as I’d like to see so maybe adding a guy who can do what Nick Robertson was hopefully going to do and score some goals would be nice that being said he is 32 and has a cap hit of 4.5 million and it seems like some blues fans are been intrigued about it looks like they might be thinking of M moving s at one more year in the contract and a no trade clause so things would have to line up there but any final thoughts yeah if you go back to the J fresh chart for a second I just wanted to point something out that they were saying there as well that he’s a shoot first player right and I think that’s that’s not a bad thing for the Leafs right now we saw it again last night they’re having trouble getting pucks to the net at times just because they’ve changed their play style a little bit so in a game like yesterday maybe you know he’s you know looking less for the past like some of the the Leafs players like Max doomy like Mitch Marner for example and he’s going to put it on net and he’s going to drive the net as well he’s going to tip in pucks he’s going to you know get to the dirty area so maybe this is something they could use on their third line I’m not saying it’s a perfect fit again and again they’re going to have to make the salary work like I would not take this player at 4.5 at this point no away they have to retain a lot of salary on this but uh I think he could be a very interesting fit as they continue to try and solid that third line cuz that’s going to be key heading into the playoffs and the new year what do they do with that third line they got to figure that out because I feel like they’re slowly getting close to what they feel is uh the team at its best right now yeah looking at his stats a little bit for wrap up 10 points 27 games like I mentioned just turned 32 so let us
