is Middle Tennessee State and Tennessee we have talked about both of these teams talked about middle a couple of times Tennessee frequently wow what a line Tennessee laying 26 a half at home and the total 142 and A2 all right so uh that leads us into the handicap portion of this Jeff they do let’s hope the volunteer basketball team shows up unlike the volunteer football team what was that in the college football playoff uh for the most part they were wiped out by Ohio State where was that from Ohio State with Michigan while we talk college football for 3.9 seconds so not a good weekend for Tennessee football eliminated in the college football playoff but let’s begin today with a breakdown of the basketball team that has a win at Illinois they are the AP number one ranked team right now for the last couple of weeks thoughts Jeff on them hosting Middle Tennessee two nights before Christmas yeah I I got some real worry here for for Middle Tennessee I I don’t know where they score and how they score I mean Tennessee is so lead on defense um this is a middle Tennesse group that that really needs to kind of get to the rim to create offense my goal if I’m Tennessee just turn them into jump Shooters they don’t want to shoot the three uh 282 and three-point attempt uh 31% from the uh three-point line this year Middle Tennessee has been a disaster um you also ask yourself I mean this group has not faced really any quality opponent yet their best opponent they played was Bradley a game in which they lost by double digits uh Tennessee the problem that opponents have faced in this team this year is it’s not just defense they’re absolutely locked down on that end but this group offensively has been unbelievable Chaz lanir has been terrific uh they’ve really been good at every level in the offensive end and Middle Tennessee uh struggles at times to rebound the basketball it seems like at every level Tennessee is just way better than Middle Tennessee and I’d probably lean towards laying it the issue that I have here I mean it’s Monday right before Christmas um all the students are are gone you know the football game’s over uh you got christas Eve tomorrow you know what’s the mindset going to be in this game I mean you’re also at the point in Tennessee’s schedule where you’re looking to get to conference play I mean you’re 11 and0 um that said I wouldn’t I wouldn’t bet midal Tennessee here Tennessee is just better at every level and and should surely win by 30 or more I guess the concern just is maybe play first half here and they lock them down Middle Tennessee is kind of Shell Shocked um that said look at the Western Carolina game the other night but that was nearly a week ago this is the Night Before Christmas Eve so it would be a pass for me maybe a first half of Tennessee uh where maybe they just kind of put in a good 20 minutes and Cru in the second half I believe you were all over that I don’t know if you played it but you said hey I don’t see see how Western Carolina gets to 50 right Jeff and they they scored 36 that night Corby Craig weren’t we talking about that game where they hit the three threes like right at the beginning of the game they had nine points in the first like three and a half minutes Western Carolina at Tennessee then they scored six points for the rest of the first half after that 15 at halftime I don’t know if Middle Tennessee state is going to be that bad offensively but Jeff makes a great Point half of Knoxville drove the four or five hours North to Columbus and were at the football game I don’t know who cares to be there in the huge Thompson Bowling Arena they now call it the Food City Center the sponsor name but that’s a 22,000 seat building and I don’t know if they’re going to have 5,000 people there tonight for the Monday night with Middle Tennessee State thoughts Corby on this including the total yeah TJ most most Monday college basketball games Middle Tennessee Tennessee no matter what the situation is isn’t going to have 5,000 people just college basketball the nature of the Beast a lot of people don’t go to these games the issue is I I wouldn’t go to this game either TJ this is going to be a snoozer as Jeff talked about Middle Tennessee hasn’t really played anybody you go this is a team I’ve bet totals on a ton this year um so I’ve watched a lot of Middle Tennessee and at home I would implore you to watch Middle Tennessee they have one of the cooler basketball courts that there are in the nation but there there’s two things about this teame first off they don’t play a traditional Pace they pay whatever Pace you don’t want to play they’ll play so like in their last game versus Cal Baptist Cal Baptist really slow team they run 72 possessions that was Middle Tennessee sprinting up the court like you could tell that they were kind of uncomfortably running and and it forced a lot of Threes which as Jeff talked about they can’t shoot threes counter is a really good shot he he’s a very confident shooter um can kind of take it off the dribble but he doesn’t even start we see someone like Cameron Weston basically just drive to the basket he had 30 the other day TJ he scored his 30th point with two seconds left up 12 and the coach is pissed but he had 30 points um but I I I think there’s one player that kind of Go’s what’s going to happen here that is the center Mustafa Mustafa was a really good player at Coastal Carolina he went to TCU didn’t see minutes went back to a mid- major and now is the best player on the team if you can’t play at TCU what’s going to happen to you against Tennessee I don’t know how Middle Tennessee scores here I saw a team total 57 and a half it’s close I would lean towards an under I didn’t bet it um I I don’t think that they could score here all right be Mills has an interesting question as well here on the screen we love the live interaction on this Monday he wants to know about Middle Tennessee state’s team total here which we were talking about earlier Jeff does that appeal to you at all or is that number right about where it should be for the blue Raiders yeah I I would say that would be appealing I think if anything you know you I really kind of felt like if you can find these spots where you have these great defensive teams against teams and again look at Middle Tennessee they’re not a jump shooting team this is a group that wants to again get to the rim hopefully get to the line and and try to create uh stuff on the offensive glass you’re not going to do that against Tennessee um I would say if it’s under 60 I I would probably have some interest there what did you say the number was 57 and a half the viewer was saying seems good I I could see you know them struggling to get the 55 here again they just have not faced a quality opponent really yet I mean they struggled to score against lipom uh really struggled to score against every quality opponent and Tennessee is is again we could argue they’re the best team in the country so yeah this scream kind of like 85 55 to me um and you should get a 40 minute you’re always going to get 40 minutes of good defense from from Rick barnes’s team Tennessee should win the question becomes how much it’s on the network tonight one of the final games Before Christmas is Middle Tennessee State and Tennessee gave you some good thoughts some good
