Friday night of December and we’ve got a great match up for you tonight number 10 Providence College entertaining number eight Colorado College along with Mike manuso I’m Mike Logan welcome inside Schneider Arena and thanks for joining us on ESPN plus well a good matchup tonight Mike and we’ll start with the gold tender of Colorado College one of the best in the country in Kaden and Baro yeah the reigning nchc goal tender of the Year first team All-American in a finalist for last year Mike RoR award currently a 1.56 goals against as fifth in the nation and his 940 save percentage good for seventh in the country as well two shutouts in bottom line he’s one of the best goenda today of course on the other side for the Providence College Friars someone that is red hot as of late the Freshman John mustard currently riding a three-game point streak the reigning Hockey East rookie of the week four goals four assists on the season had the gamewinner last weekend against St Lawrence and lake clet and talking with Nate leem about him said Mustard’s figuring it out and becoming a more detailed player he’s the best skater the Friars have had since Brandon tanov who just played his 500th career NHL game he’s got Elite Speed which creates more space for him and his line mates and leads to more possession time and someone that Colorado College will have to be aware of tonight talented player for the catamounts and early on a big hit there boy this has been physical and the frier back here’s Conley in a drive kicked out in Baro but this has been a physical game in the opening two two plus minutes alen oi leaves for Conley trying to split the D and it’s Swept Away by Americo new building that CC opened on campus a couple of years ago over the line Adams pass in the middle great save inico it was a loose Puck but inico robbing the Friars early on they last appeared in a uh championship game they lost a tough one in overtime to Michigan in a 96 and they score here on a loose puck in front and Colorado College takes a one- nothing lead as that loose Puck out front and unable to handle it was fedback and it is Drew Montgomery with the first goal of the game yeah it’s going to be his fourth goal the sij going to see him get a little bit of a backand as this one trickles out in front just able to get it pass fedback for the opener here tonight Montgomery the sophomore from Grand Forks North Dakota right spot the right time Friar’s unable to stick with them and just slips it home for the opener tonight and CC gets it and that shot walked wide Adams trying to chip it up the wall and able to get it out of the zone and the horn will sound so a physical tough opening period not a lot of room in the ice Drew Montgomery the lone goal scorer and the Tigers going to take a one- nothing lead Trevor will take it wide leave it for May nice job by Austin back to Conley it [Applause] [Music] scores great little give and go Conley to May back to Conley and we are tied early in the second well I know we said it a couple times this season but speed kills and Connelly has plenty of that the fans loving it here in Fri toown as Providence comes out wheeling and dealing out of the gates great look for Connelly it starts there here’s a little drop off and may gets gets there in time gets around the defender no one stays with Connelly had basically half a net to look at and he certainly doesn’t need that much space and he absolutely buries it for his third goal of the season along the wall briers break it up and Conley will break with Adams connley holding to Adams he’s in oh what a save inico robs Adams unbelievable stuff there from ambero showing you why he’s one of the best in college hocky today wow when Adams made the move I thought this was going to the back of the net we will head to break on the great save by ambero holy Moses it’s a one-1 game too many players on the ice Cam’s got to get his stick long clear up CC on side nice save sped [Applause] back here’s the opportunity though a home run pass out wide for wisdom but unable to beat fedback yeah a steal in a backhander is blocked Burke holder back on it for the Tigers we approach eight minutes remaining a give away [Music] score Logan Sawyer says thank you very much unassisted goal and the friar are up 2-1 well and obviously you just cannot have those type of turnovers in that area of the ice against good teams they will make you pay again Colorado College has been sloppy with the puck in this period both on the power play and now at even strength really can’t fault and Baro for anything on that one but what a play there by Logan Sawyer found himself wide open in front of the net and buries it for a second goal of the season so pror win the face off mustard throws it to himself Banks it back may across now C Trella one time a score a that feels good Hudson malinowski gets the monkey off the back a long time between goals but that’s some major Insurance in the final minute well you were just talking about it how they haven’t be able to create that extra Separation on the scoreboard great onetime there from malinowski a little bit of traffic in front might have been screened by his own defenseman there was ambero it might have even taken a deflection on the way in too but either way the prior on top 3-1 with 35 seconds left in the second with some space gets it to Harding and the horn is going to sound and a big boy second period by Providence College they score three times Conley Sawyer and malinoski kill off three penalties and and will take a two-goal lead into the third period against Colorado College was it behind the net mlan and he’s a grad transfer from Penn State out High shot score redirected it was blae Sao Threw It on net it was redirected out front and we have a one goal hockey game well was just a lot of sustained pressure there for the Tigers and they’re going to say the deflection going to Mclean draft pick of the Predators and if it stands for him it’ll be his second goal of the Season just from Reign getting a little bit of deflection on that attempt from bloy and exactly what the Tigers needed to jump start this third period for them but again Puck comes loose in the slot and the Friars finally get it away and here’s mustard breaking to the net mustard might have wanted to shoot that instead passed up the shot meanwhile a frii got knocked down behind loose Lo in front shot here [Music] score Tomas Machu his first Collegian goal that’s a big answer for Providence and they’re back to a two-goal lead well get him the puck a timely goal for the Freshman as a whole lot of Shenanigans in and around the goal there of Amico as taken down behind I believe was Adams and Machu though just finding that little some traffic in front blows it past and Baro and the friers back on top by two and having been around m in his time at Providence and a save there the park knock down still loose and they score fedback got knocked into the net and Providence takes exception I got to think they’re going to look at this yeah they’re going to have to and fedback slow to get up as well now you see Colorado college player was taken into the crease by Kelly they call it a good goal and [Music] now you see that fedback was prone on the ice and let’s see as Yoder is over there with kie captains yeah I mean Gallagher really made no attempt to get out of the crease once he was in there i t in a previous play but let’s be honest Mike we have seen much less contact wave a goal out absolutely and I think that’s probably what’s in the back of Nate leman’s mind is he wants to make sure that this one gets challenged and looked at here the decision after video review it is determined that the Providence brings in Colorado into the goalkeeper therefore we have a good goal oh a tire but able to help keep the puck in and now college going to break short-handed briers get back and that shot on fedback makes the save and we get pushing and shoving as Lindberg was there sticked Away by Americo and Lindberg plays it ahead to kie short-handed shot saved by fedback and he’ll hold on a big hit here he comes to the bench and that puck is loose extra attacker on friers play it up not out so six on five laba works it across shot here is blocked down loose puck in front banged up battle in front of the net and it’s pushed to the boards under two minutes to go six on five for Colorado College they work it back out High the shot blocked Friar need to get control of the puck shot and a save by fedback Friars having a hard time getting control of the puck lava’s Drive is blocked and Providence clears it up but not out Burk holder a drive and Harding that’s in his equipment and where’s the whistle shot on Harding Bo that was a big slash right to his chest from laba so with 127 to go as laa was trying to dislodge the puck Kelly trying to tie it up tigers have it centering feed loose Puck top of the crease fed back Dives still no whistle and now we get [Applause] one I think Philip’s going to sleep really well tonight after it has been a very physical third period here’s the overhead yeah we’ll have to see tomorrow night if Zachary boril gets the call out the center ice a break there for Providence Tigers get it back into the zone drop shot save a rebound loose behind the net we’re down to two we’re down to one and that’ll do it more sounds it wasn’t easy and let’s see the referees are putting everybody back on the bench there’s going to be more time and the puck thrown towards the net it goes wide and that’ll do it horn sounds and the Friars are out to salute Phillips fedback as Providence holds on for a hard fought 43 win in game one of the weekend
