we’re willing to pay that money wow I mean okay it makes it a little bit better but I think this deal looks better from a blue J standpoint if you could also get a bat in free agency or a starting pitcher or something cuz right now we’re we’re hoping and we’re praying right now I mean the one good thing I guess okay let me try to let me let me get off my initial reaction try to spend some positivity here the one good thing I guess you could spin from this guy steals a lot of bags could be your leadoff guy if he’s bouncing back that could be your new lead I mean who would you rather have Jimenez or George Springer leading off Jimenez probably Jimenez probably I mean it’s very close right yeah yeah yeah okay okay this makes it somewhat more okay and you know what Thomas Hall spinning in in a positive light too here saying sending Spencer Horwitz to Cleveland certainly opens up plenty of of DH reps okay yeah because you know he’s going to play second base every day right yeah that’s definitely true now Horwitz is out and it’s like okay well vlat is obviously first right but Dan we are losing we didn’t even take it in fully we’re losing Spencer hor that’s right yeah we that is yes yeah so honestly it it comes down to like you got to just I guess you just got to not that you want to Hope like I want this guy to do well but I guess they’re just thinking that they’re trading him at his high and I I suppose they’re hoping that that Jimenez is going to bounce back like that’s honestly what this is they are hoping that Andre simz is going to bounce back I would not mind this deal if we replace that production of 125 Ops plus if we got a production of 125 Ops plus you can make the argument that well we got a veteran second base three-time gold Glover with the upside of having 30 stolen bases and being lead off and if we go replace Spencer Horwitz with the santon or or Hernandez or whatever Lonzo that’d be obviously a a lot better then you also get that additional reliever okay that’s so for me it’s like I can’t I still can’t walk in offensively with Andreas Jimenez you know that’s not like a sure thing right there offensively because we’ve seen the regression but at least the sandin thing makes it a little bit sweeter wow Horwitz is older than Jimenez too that’s also true I mean true he 27 that’s right like Jimenez is like you know you kind of think about Andre himz as being somebody that’s like been in this league forever right but he’s still 26 but he is still only 26 years old old so I mean like there’s still a lot of time left for him to develop I mean ultimately like the guy is Elite defensively speaking Elite defensively speaking and now we have him I think we can all admit that this is going to be our what does he play primarily is second base Prim yeah primarily second base okay so he’s so now we know we’re going to have a second base now for the rest you like for five years for the next five years Andre Jimenez will be our second BAS yeah and and and that’s and so that means honestly I mean like Horwitz is gone now he’s gone I wonder what you do with all those other guys that need reps yeah that’s the thing too you got to trade them well cuz like you got trade this you just you literally just made the decision that they’re not going to have a spot for 5 years yeah and hey Jimenez could play a little shortstop too maybe he goes over to short and place his bow so it’s like okay that’s an option there could be maybe you hang on to one guy and you make them the bow replacement oh [ __ ] this is our bow replacement because ultimately you know when you think of it that Toronto Blue lineup and you think about actual promising potential he was one of if not the most promising right he was locked in at our fifth spot starting the year next year we liked it right that being said Andre Jimenez is the Dal V show of the infield if you want to talk about somebody that is like strong defensively speaking that’s him in the infield and to Adam’s point it’s like okay now if bashad does walk well we’re going to have an elite short I assume that he can play short stop at Elite level you know so now it’s like no worries at all from a defensive standpoint we slot that guy in and you know we can figure it out and hopefully supplement the offense elsewhere right I think that you need to walk into this deal though or not like hoping that he does better offensively speaking obviously but expecting a mid to high 600 Ops yeah get ready for that and the he still stole 30 bases he stole that’s true and B like what was what was one of my biggest complaints last year we we don’t [ __ ] do it right like we never do it and that that dresses that issue but then I go back to my point it’s like we need to get a bad this deal could look two ways when we this kind of reminds me not so much because we gave up a lot for dton VAR but honestly if you’re not too worried about the money it could look better than Dalton VAR show because you a you have this guy locked down for a long term great defense in the middle in F replaces bashet and we didn’t give up that much for him really Horwitz like honestly I think that’s the way that I’m starting to come around to it is like CU from a Cleveland Guardian standpoint I think the only way that they make this trade is because they don’t want to pay the money anymore right so they’re willing to take you know probably what is a loss just from a value standpoint cuz if you think about it you are talking about somebody that’s probably going to win multiple gold gloves for you that you have locked up for 5 years and on top of that we’re talking about a relief pitcher coming in that we desperately need who didn’t perform great last year but has a career erra of 3.27 like let’s not forget like that’s actually a very good career erra this guy’s never been hurt before why does he have negative War well last year it was it was 3.75 so it wasn’t great you know what I mean but like trying something that’s the thing like in terms of the career his whip certainly inflated last year his whip inflated to 1. 1266 but I mean ultimately like I look at that you know today think about it today we just got 57 Innings here in the bullpen and another 60 from Jimmy we just gained 120 Innings out of the bullpen that’s very very good also everyone’s saying Keegan Keegan Keegan um they they’re going to meet with Ross Atkins in Dallas they’re about to meet with him a previous scheduled time that has lined up conveniently so we could hear something from Ross Atkins about this shortly all right well we’re going to have to stay and wait guys who knew that we were going to be doing tonight I thought we were doing the whole MLB draft lottery watch which we that he gets better with age right um okay ke and I’m I’m looking to see uh the Blue Jays are doubling and then in says quadrupling down on defense by agreeing to acquire Andre simz from the Guardians one of the best defenders in baseball at second who could slide to shortstop a year from now if bashet signs elsewhere his Bat decides if he’s good or a star yeah you know what and that’s that’s the way that we need to look at this well it’s the same thing with dlan varo too it’s the exact same thing with D I guess the one positive for me is like we’ve actually like the difference between him and Dalton varo is we’ve never actually seen Dalton varo have a year like this good offensively speaking what I’m to is is 2022 he’s never had a year that good and we have seen him not as bad as 20124 but we have seen him be as bad as the other years that he’s had so sh to who just subscribed right there everyone everyone split on the Springer and him menz thing I think it look I think think of the lineup this way if it goes Jimenez bashet Guerrero Jesus Christ we need to find someone number four now cuz now we don’t have Horwitz and then it’ be Springer that’s that’s where we’re at right now Andre Jimenez we cannot lose out on the possibility of Corin Burns especially to the [ __ ] Red Sox no cuz like so far this offseason has been a very much Ross Atkins off season where you trade for a relever you trade for defense and then you get back an Old Reliable friend literally literally literally KK was like our Old Reliable friend get trading for defense Al VAR show a couple years ago and a reliever Eric Swanson okay everybody’s saying Corbin Burn’s the Giants I just looked up Corbin Burn’s name on Twitter I do not see that I’m not sure where you guys are getting that from if you’re just trolling then like please stop trolling because you know we do want to to bring the accurate news here if possible folks um if you haven’t already done so we got 129 likes can we get up to 200 likes on the stream guys that would be good I can’t show this right here but um the there’s a what what do they call the MLB tra trade simulator that shows the value make this what you I think they’re considering the the fact he was bad defensively and the contract but uh a negative value of or a value of negative 35.2 going to the Blue Jays and a value of positive 28 going over the guardian it’s it’s because of the contract contct because of the contract you know and and honestly it it boils down to this the Toronto Blue Jays are I guess just more willing to pay that contract than the Cleveland Guardians ever would be because ultimately he’s not crazy expensive right now but when you look over the so this year this year Andre simz is going to cost $10.5 million however I can see from a guardian stpoint in 2027 he’s going to cost almost 24 million a year okay and that is a lot of money for them you know what that’s okay because 2027 all we have is uh Jose baros and yo Rodriguez that’s fine that’s fine now like like so it actually makes sense that this actually a perfect contract for the Blue Jays right now because we don’t have to pay that much right now and we could possibly stack on another guy this year honestly I think that this contract this contract so that’s the thing in 2027 we’re going to have to reevaluate if he is hitting at a mid to high 700 Ops then I think that this money looks really good assuming the defense is still where it needs to be absolutely if he is cuz that’s the thing ultimately if he is hitting at a at a 638 Ops clip it gets tough to Warrant that when we go well this is another dton bar show and then and then the narve will become Ross did it again he didn’t learn from his mistakes he traded for a guy who was clearly regressing and then traded for defense that’s what it’s all going to become and then if Spencer HS pops off then it’s going to become that too so hopefully it doesn’t become that scottf far with a $199 Don no three times Gold Glove under control till 2030 this is a W uh swingy with a $499 Don noan Jimmy back plus faster ik if we miss miss out on a big bat we’ll be exactly where we were at the start of 2023 well let’s be very clear okay we if we miss out on a big time bat yeah this is a still it’s a null off season like it’s still an L for us I like this tra we’re we’ve really done a full 180 here and kind of we have the beginning to now lit after we saw the Spencer Horwitz name it you know kind of all went crashing down it was sensitive it was exactly it was it was an emotional topic but this is a good trade if if you still go out and get somebody that can swing the goddamn baseball backat because keeping in mind as well I like I’m liking what I’m seeing from Andre Jimenez however you did just lose your second best hitter Spencer was our second best hit last year your your second best hitter last year from an Ops standpoint from just an overall standpoint it was Guerrero and then it was Spencer hor that’s we’re not a team that can afford to lose offense so you need to supplement that and then some you know through free agency or through trade yeah I mean well also I like to think of it this way too like okay well if you lost Horwitz Horwitz kind of took over very minorly very I’m not ever going to compare him to AB boette but like he made up for what a little bit of the loss of bashet of get that get so think of it this so if bashet bounces back well there’s a replacement right there but still as we saw last year that wasn’t enough offense so we do need to add on just a little bit more to make this good and just from a pound for Town thing in this trade again we’re never really going to find out whether it was a good trade or not until like three or four years deadline cuz Spencer Horwitz has 5 years left on his rookie or on his uh contract and then this guy’s got five years how long do we have him for five years uh I want to check now but like 5 years we have them for five we we got them till 2029 and then there’s there’s a club option for 2030 so it’s effectively like if he’s playing good baseball five or six years yeah yeah we’re going to have him till he’s age 30 oh my God you know so what again presumably his prime this is we should presumably have him for his prime bone 6000 coming in here with a $699 Dono thank you very much saying people like aulton VAR show and we got him for longer and honestly like it really does like this is going to be one of those deals too where I think that depending on you know cuz he say it’s going to be 2020 if Spencer Horwitz comes out and builds off of last year yeah then it’s going to be like oh my God what were we what were we thinking more defense you know like are you serious but I could also very clearly see a reality where Spencer Horwitz and this is no disrespect to Spencer Horwitz but I could see it I could see reality probably more times than not actually that he comes out and does worse than last year and then it’s like okay well we got a great defender in here and uh you know like we didn’t give up that much if you really think about it that way no absolutely and also I just thought of it like this you want to track some pitching well we just got a three-time go Glover in the middle infield we have Dalton varo in Center yeah we have I know Vlad is not the best first baseman but he is a former go Glover we had a nominee and Ernie Clement over at third at least right now GE Springer is over there right he can go out and get it I mean hey if I’m a pitcher and you know how much pitchers love defense they also love offense too but at least they would that’s something you could now sell to a pitcher like Corin Burns coming over and playing for the Toronto Blue Jays dude I like for me if we don’t get Corbin Burns then like that’s going to suck I really want to get that guy however if we don’t he can’t go to the Red Sox no he he can’t go to the Red Sox the one thing that we’ve always been saying for years now is well the Boston Red Sox pitching like ever since Chris S kind of fell off it’s like ah like Boston Red Sox like their pitching isn’t all that you know they get Corbin burns with like some of the breakouts that they had last year and it’s like okay I mean their their rotation could be right there with us you know like assuming their breakouts like buil off of what they did last year they have last year they had H H they had like there was like two other guys too that like actually did really well I know the second half of the Year wasn’t as strong but they showed enough promise that if they if you do get an established Ace like Gorman Burns you might feel pretty good about it I know they had Nick Peta who again had a strong first half and then a bad second half but he’s gone now they I think he offered him a qualifying and I I think he declined it I’m pretty sure he declined it uh I’m just taking a look right now
