Yankees trade talks are intensifying as a Marcus strowman deal feels very likely as the New York Yankees have already tried to trade him in a deal to acquire Nolan arnado in order to pair him back up with Paul Goldman as the two corner infielders on the New York Yankees while Brian casman appears to continually be hellbent on moving strowman as he no longer has a spot in the Yankees starting pitching rotation and we’re going to break this all down so what’s up guys welcome back to Yankees digest it’s Chris here and we’re going to jump right into it as always always and if you guys like strowman last year for the New York Yankees was a mixed bag he started out well but his pitching fell off and it it became very apparent that strowman is a guy who gets rattled pretty quickly now last off season on January 11th of 2024 the New York Yankees signed Marcus strowman to a 2-year deal now strowman came into the Yankees and won wanted to prove something and at first it looked like he was proving everyone that he was an elite pitcher as he’d shown it times to be elite and other times to be more shaky well now where we stand Marcus strowman is going to get traded off the New York Yankees and the problem is trying to find a team that’s willing to pay some of his salary strowman did not have his greatest year last year but the Yankees have already been trying to move strowman as revealed by mlb.com basically Paul Goldsmith’s now presence in New York could have a strong influence on former teammate Nolan arnado waving as no trade clause and agreeing to play for the Yankees if the Yankees pursue a trade with St Louis now the Yankees approached the Cardinals earlier in the off season about a deal for Nolan arnado but they were rebuffed because St Louis had no interest in taking on the contract of right-handed pitcher Marcus strowman now this deal it was so insane that what happened was arnado didn’t even get a chance to either accept or decline his no train Clause it was so quickly denied they they literally were like nope we’re not paying strowman absolutely not trading arado for him we don’t care who you’re adding on to us we are not paying Marcus strowman’s contract so absolutely not now the Yankees want to move strowman’s $9 million because taking out arad’s 23 means the Yankees only have to pay an extra 4 million and after trading away Jose trino the team it it’s becoming more likely that Nolan arnado will be the team’s thirdd baseman unless the Yankees are willing to spend a lot of money on an Alex bregman type which maybe they still are I guess that bregman’s going to end up on the Red Sox it feels like the Red Sox are going to pay someone maybe bregman maybe Pete Alonzo we’ll see but where the New York Yankees stand right now they want to trade Marcus strowman because they don’t want to pay him and they’re looking for a team that needs pitching and is willing to pay Marcus strowman in hopes that he could have a consistent season now strowman’s shown time and time again that despite the fact that there’s times when he looks incredibly good with his crafty pitching ability and his seven pitches there’s also times where the man just does not look very good and it feels like he gets rattled once a runner gets in scoring position if he lets up a hit or a stolen base or literally the M most minor screw up strowman does get in his head very quickly and it clearly gets to him and it’s led to strowman having complete meltdowns on the mound and just not being able to perform at all times which definitely sucks because Marcus strowman is someone who he’s such a great teammate he’s a New Yorker he’s a fiery player it would have been awesome if the Marcus strowman stuff worked out but just it is not worked out and he’d have to be some sort of Swing pitcher next year where he’s mainly pitching out of the bullpen while also if an injury happens he’ll be the guy to step into the starting rotation but it feels like the Yankees don’t want that for $19 million so the Yankees have a great rotation as it is right now if the season were to begin today the rotation is going to be Garrett Cole Max freed Luis heel Carlos rodon and Clark Schmidt that does not leave room for strowman he is not as good as any of those other five options obviously heel is the future of the team that the Yankees are paying Garett Cole a ton of money to be one of the best pitchers in the MLB they’re now paying Max freed some of the most money of any pitcher for him to be one of the best pitchers in the MLB Luis heels as I said he’s the future of the team Clark Schmidt is someone who the Yankees maybe would still move but certainly had a better year than strowman last year and Carlos Ron’s getting a lot of money as well from the New York Yankees as he’s starting to slowly bounce back to the guy who the Yankees signed all these years ago and by all these years I mean two years ago but now the Yankees once again they’ve splurged on a big pitcher and with strowman’s $19 million staring down the New York Yankees it just makes sense that they would be willing to move him now it was also mentioned on top of the arnado stuff that adding both Paul Goldman and Nolan arnado teammates with the Cardinals over the last four seasons would allow the Yankees to shift jism Jr from third base to second base with Anthony vuli at shortstop solidifying the infield for the 2024 American League champions the problem is the Yankees don’t have the most to move it’s not like there’s a ton of stuff the Yankees have that they’re willing to trade they’ve made ACH of Trades already I mean they’ve traded Jose trino they’ve traded for Devin Williams trading away Nester Cortez they they’ve made a lot of moves this offseason the Yankees have been very active since losing Juan sto because they understand the importance of contending now while Aaron judges in the prime of his career no matter who the next Yankees franchise player is and hopefully it’s Jason Dominguez it’s very hard to believe it’s g that the Yankees are going to have a player as good as pearon judge for a very very long time I mean for many of us even someone like my age right now like there’s always this that Aaron judge is the best player that us Yankee fans will ever see the man is that good he is all time he’s an all-time great hitter he’s the most dangerous hitter since at the very least Alex Rodriguez in his prime on the Yankees or leaving the Yankees a Barry Bonds type I mean A-Rod never hit 62 damn home runs and Aaron judge did he’s Aaron judge has just been an absolute monster there’s a reason why he’s a two-time MVP he should be a three-time MVP he’s probably going to be the favorite towin MVP going into next season is why would he not be I mean yeah Bobby Whit Jr had a phenomenal season and gunar Henderson’s only getting better but Juan stto is out of the American League so there’s there goes another guy it’s out of those three guys really unless obviously it’s baseball someone can easily pop in show up and like nope it’s me this year I’m the man and that happens and that’s fine but Aaron judge right now where it stands is still the best offensive player in the MLB and the Yankees need to capitalize on that so getting Nolan arnado maybe does that help I guess so but I’m not the biggest fan of Nolan arnado if I’m being honest I don’t hate the idea I’m not saying it’s the worst idea ever but it’s not great now Marcus strowman last season had a 4.31 ER which is up above his career average of 3.72 after last season starting 29 of his 30 games he had a whip at 1.468 which is not good all of his numbers were below his averages this year Marcus strowman just flat out was disappointing he was at first he looked great and it was awesome because he’s a New Yorker and he ride he really rides or dies for the Yankees and you can tell how great of a teammate he is but it just didn’t work out and now we’re going to see Marcus get dealt unfortunately I wish it worked I wish the two-time All-Star was able to bounce back with the New York Yankees after an interesting year with the Cubs where he pitched well and then fell off a cliff just like this season it’s been the same thing twice in a row now for Strow and he’s going to have to try to find consistency on another team and I think the best bet for Marcus strowman is to not be some guy hanging around the end of a rotation the best idea is to trade strowman to a team that is in desperate need of pitching so he knows that he has job security for a year going into a contract season I think that’ll help strowman bounce back and I do want the best for Marcus strowman and anyone who’s played for the New York Yankees really but noan arnado as I said I’m not the biggest fan of his game his offense has not been the same in recent years only had 16 home runs last year and given he’s more of a Fielder than anything else and he gives the Yankees a very good glove I mean 10 gold gloves six platinum gloves even though he’s getting a bit older he’s still that dude when it comes to fielding and gives the Yankees absolutely incredible defense I mean throughout you have Bellinger in center field a great Fielder you have AAR judge who’s a great right fielder you have Jason Dominguez who though struggled that left field has very high Fielding potential obviously Paul gold Schmid’s going to be there he’ll be doing his thing at first base Jazz Chism Jr is such a talented Fielder putting him at second base obviously makes them better especially with glaber Torres being gone it clearly means that jazz is the second baseman and Anthony vulpi who the question was is he gonna have to be move to Third Base while pza steps in in fields but nope not the case at all Anthony vulpi is a phenomenal Fielding shortstop though I just still wish they drafted gunar Henderson obviously but what are you going to do you can’t really be hung up on that oh well like below average Ops average Ops plus fine numbers I guess like yeah they don’t need the bat but you’re sticking a lot of righties towards that back into the rotation I mean Paul Goldman will probably bat like fifth or sixth for the Yankees while arnado bats eighth I guess it means you’re getting a lot of righties in there pretty quickly I mean Cody Bellinger’s a lefty you have Dominguez who hits from both sides you have Jazz but you have Austin wel say you have four so it’s not the end of the world I mean there’s nine guys hitting so it’s not like it’s some crazy drop off but like you got a couple of these right-handed guys who you’d rather at the bottom of your batting order so you don’t really want to stick them all in a row right now it’s unclear who the Yankees leadoff hitter is going to even be especially if they get arnado they don’t have a clear option my guess would be Anthony vby or Jason Dominguez it really just depends on how Dominguez comes out so much of this Yankee season is going to predicate on that guy so the Yankees need Jason is to ball out this season and there’s really no other way around it now Paul goldsmid he also has not had the makings of a great year after winning MVP two seasons ago but obviously he’s older look playing for the New York Yankees I could see Paul GMI kind of having a revolution of a year like he might bounce back a bit now he’ll be 38 by the time the season’s over but Goldie was an MVP two years ago and if he’s playing for a good team he’ll probably give it everything he’s got left I mean look at Matt Carpenter signs with the New York Yankees knows he’s playing for his career old he still loves the game so sometimes these players bounce back especially when you’re playing for a contender some guys love and relish playing with the New York Yankees it just helps you so much we saw that with Carpenter we could very likely see that with Goldie as well the Yankees are banking on Goldie coming back and having a better year than he did last year and his offense has slipped since winning MVP so hopefully he takes steroids or just plays well steroid thing’s obviously a joke I I do kind of trust Goldie’s going to have a better year than his last two years on the Cardinals also just because the Yankees are the AL Champions the Yankees fully believe that they are the best team in the American League Juan sto or no woto especially with the moves they’ve made and I expect Paul Goldman to come out guns a blazing this season arnado I’m a little less comfortable about but you know he’s going to give you a lead Fielding at third base so it does solve the Yankees problems a lot also on days that Goldie might be off arnado can play first you get to keep Cody Bellinger in center field which solves a lot of Outfield problems I like the idea obviously you should trade Marcus strowman it’s going to be difficult to do but I do imagine the Anin will get it deal and also arnado I could see him likely requesting a trade to the Yankees anyway to where the Yankees will still be bringing in Nolan arnado but I do want to hear from you guys what do you guys want to see happen like this video
