The Warriors have famously filled minutes with defensive savant Draymond Green at the five spot. Draymond Green there at the five for the most part from Golden State let’s Dive Right into what Jake fer had to say about Golden State’s situation right now he said after swiftly addressing the need for a secondary score behind Stephen Curry with Sunday’s acquisition of Dennis schruder golden state is still evaluating its own Center rotation according to sources the Warriors have famously filled minutes with defensive Savant Draymond Green at the Five Spot and while Steve Kerr is known to hold great affinity for cavon Looney Golden State’s Veteran Center has garnered plenty of early interest from around the league as the Warriors consider whether or not to add another piece as uh to a rotation that also features standout sophomore stand out I don’t know I’m not so sure but Trace Jackson Davis before seeding the role back to Looney recently Jackson Davis started 18 games this season all right well in this report there there’s multiple things to unpack here right we’re talking about cavon Looney potentially being traded away from Golden State we’re also talking about Golden State looking to add maybe a new center to their rotation right now and let’s start with the with with with this right first of all thank God finally let’s clap it up for Golden State for finally saying that we need to evaluate not necessarily we’re going to hunt in new centers but at least we’re evaluating the center rotation because they’ve gotten killed in the front Court this year just due to sheer size man there isn’t a single player on Golden State’s rotation that is above 6′ n and neither one but maybe Looney more so than tjd are are tremendous rebounders right golden state must address the front court because they’ve gotten killed in those areas so far this year so I’m glad to hear that they’re finally addressing this situation and hopefully it ends up you know resulting in a solution with this front court and they actually make a trade for one of the big men that are getting floated around right now there’s a couple names out there that I think could really positively contribute to Golden State’s rotation there down low however with this Looney stuff Golden State themselves haven’t sparked these rumors they have not expressed interest in trading for cavon Looney this season and rightfully so right he he’s the big on the team that has the most veteran experience he the big on the team that has the most championship pedigree right and he’s not having the worst year of his career like last year I think he fell off a cliff a little bit especially in the defensive end um and and this year you know in the time that he’s getting for Golden State he he’s been a spark in my opinion I’ve seen caval Looney crash in the glass I think he’s been Golden State’s best center on the team so far he’s he’s great in the dribble handoff settings he’s great working this offense because he knows the system to a and and that that kind of gives him leg up over a guy like tjd who I I I’m not so sure is ready to take the mantle of Golden State starting center moving forward he has started 18 games this year but in his minutes versus starting versus the bench tjd really hasn’t seen much of a difference depending on his role if you look at the overall numbers for for Looney versus tjd here Looney is the better rebounder there isn’t a question about it and keep in mind these guys are playing similar minutes per game this season so there isn’t much of a drop off between the volume that these guys are getting out on there out there on the court neither one is necessarily an elite rim protector I’d give the edge to trace Jackson Davis there both statistically and the IT test and you know you look at the field goal percentage differences that’s really nothing I’m writing home about right Looney stretches the floor a little bit more than Trey shackson Davis he’s willing to take that 15-footer at the elbow or off the pick and pop in the short pick and roll game I I like that element of TJ of Looney’s game tjd doesn’t really provide that all of his buckets come at The Rim what’s really sticking out to me here is the defensive field goal percentage for each of these two players when a shot goes up and these two are the the primary Defenders Looney clearly has the edge here A whole 3.7% difference for cavan Looney I really think he’s just the better defensive anchor for this team no situation well knows the Tendencies of different bigs around the league a little bit better and overall I just think he’s a better player than than tra Jackson Davis in my opinion but I’m going to let you guys decide that right now pick one to keep because I think Golden State might be looking at trading one of the big men in the rotation right now if you think you’d rather keep Kavon Looney give me a loon down in the comments section if you think you’d rather keep tjd because there is factors about that he’s a younger player maybe has more potential longterm than Looney give me a tjd Down Below in my opinion you can’t trade Looney unless you get another big back I mean Golden State’s already so thin in the front cor right now they’ve actually been reluctant to give Trace Jackson Davis Big Time minutes over this last you know 10 game stretch and to be fair golden state is 2 and eight over that stretch maybe they should fix that but I I I don’t think you can trade away Looney and get pack you know a first nobody’s going to give you a first round pick but say multiple second round picks right or a second round pick I don’t think you can do that I’m not comfortable leaving Trace Jackson Davis on an island here I don’t really think from year 1 to two that he’s really improved to much I you look at the statistics and you can look at the eye test as well I’m not really seeing a massive uh increase in production or overall fundamentals from tjd like he kind of seems to me like the same player he was last year and in a lot of areas his numbers have actually dipped so I I’m don’t feel comfortable leaving Looney out uh you know trading away Looney and then leaving tjd is the only true Center on this team that would also have to uh give Draymond Green Way more minutes at the five than he’s already getting at this point which in my opinion might be too many so I don’t think you could trade Looney away unless you receive back another big and for the past couple of Seasons Golden State needs to address the front Court they need to go get a true big out there I don’t know how many true bigs necessarily fit the scheme that Golden State wants to play but maybe they have to adapt like the trade they made for Dennis shuder adapt to a new style adapt to a new style of player let’s talk about him though Golden State as a whole has gotten killed versus the top bigs this League I mean I remember watching back in the preseason where guys aren’t even taking it that seriously and we got Andrew Anthony Davis just dicing up tjd in the post like I’m not comfortable with tjd and an island against some of these Elite bigs in today’s NBA I mean think about the guys they have to go through in a Pursuit for a NBA championship or Pursuit for a finals appearance in the Western Conference alone joic best player in the league Anthony Davis could be the best player in the league on any given night Chad holen is there a player on Golden State could guard check home I I I really don’t think that there is there aren’t many players who can guard him because he’s a demigod seven foot guy who’s really more of a wing than a big but I I just don’t know anybody on Golden that could handle the man Al PR senon gave you 20 25 11 and five a couple of weeks ago uh in that ridiculous game against houon rockets don’t even get me started about that and then jiren Jackson junr who’s putting up a phenomenal offensive season this year last 10 games or so he’s putting up 23 25 points a night like I love what I’ve seen from Triple J and then you got guys like sabonis wemi goar zubach Lively Gafford some of those guys aren’t really necessarily competing or ahead of Golden State in the standings but there’s a long regular season you’re going to have to see those guys again and wins are going to matter for golden states they’ve lost eight of their last 10 got to keep stacking them back up let’s talk about these trade targets for Golden State and this has been one that we’ve discussed before but this is going to be more your cheaper option right yonas Valen chunis on the Washington Wizards signed a threeyear like $30 million extension or excuse me not extension um he signed a three-year $30 million deal with them this off season and you know he’s one of those guys where he can play in the post he can play on the outside stretch the floor just a little bit his three-point shot has been down uh recently but I I think he would be a good fit in Golden State’s team also gets a ton of rebounds you could you don’t see really well on your screen is it’s seven seven and a half this year but in his time in New Orleans it was basically he is a walk in 15 and 10 every single night I love what Jonas valun is the style he plays with can protect the rim just a little bit not the best in that area but he is super efficient as well can hit the mid-range can step out and hit the three if you need it and I think with only more volume and more practice in that area he would really fit well into Golden State system next up Nia vich okay let’s talk about vich right because we haven’t really discussed him too much on on this show and that’s kind of from me right because I I I don’t necessarily think that nicoa vich is an asset on the on both ends of the floor offensively a Marvel right like he’s he’s averaging 21 points a game 10 rebounds 58% from the field and you know what this guy’s shooting from three-point this year 47.5% are you serious are you kidding me that would be a perfect fit in golden states lineup plus I mean the way that he can attack the glass is is amazing but on the defensive end he’s um what do they call those in in in uh Spain the matadors Olay defense all the way from nicovich I mean I could score on the guy and I played basketball since high school where I played three minutes a game for my Goan Gladiators I mean he’s a total cone on defense and if you get him stretched out Beyond The Arc if you get him out on the perimeter play him in the pick and roll he’s cook chicken out there so that’s something that I definitely have reservations about with plus he makes about $20 million a season now keep in mind all three of these guys that we’re talking about today are under contract for multiple seasons and that’s something that I’m really looking forward uh for in a trade acquisition for Golden State somebody who’s going to be here long term vich making $20 million this year $21 million next year and hits un restricted free agency in 26 um is somebody you have to give up Looney and maybe a Kyle Anderson and maybe even another player for in this Golden State rotation just to AC acrw $20 million away for a trade it’s going to be difficult but if you’re thinking about the offensive ceiling of the Golden State Warriors there’s no doubt that nicovich raises that ceiling the highest last up on this list this is my guy this is my guy yakob purle look at the numbers this year 15 and a half 11 rebounds at night getting his most um burn basically of his career his biggest role uh of his career with the Toronto Raptors this season and and he is making it happen averaging nearly two blocks a game he’s putting up numbers from the you know from the field that are amazing 58 and a half basically 59% from the field like Perle can do it in a lot of ways not necessarily a big time floor spacer but this is your traditional big if if I had to S put a name in front of every comment that I saw on this channel where Golden State fans were saying we need a big we need a big we need a true seven-footer we need a true real big this is the guy right here I love Perle love the way he plays can snatch rebounds uh you know away and and he could do it on both ends too he can do it on the offensive could do it on the defensive class total stat she stuffer here yaka p and and he does well in the pick and roll game as well I love purle but I I’m not the GM and I’m not going to be out there making phone calls for these trades let’s BR invol of you guys though pick one to trade for who would you most ra uh see want to see excuse me in a golden state uniform this season and Beyond as
