[Music] schematically um certainly we’ll have to review some stuff clearly the spirit to compete just wasn’t there do you do you have any idea why or is that how do you and how do you address that if so we’ll solve it like we we solve other problems but obviously we’ll we’ll do that internally it was a atypical ad night based on what we’ve seen from him this season did you have any explanation for um you know his kind of production tonight yeah know felt like he missed some of those touch shots um missed some shots closer in you know there were a couple even in the first half when I thought we played really well for the most part outside of some transition stuff just you know ball just kind of spun around the rim and and went out um you know but I I thought in terms of the offensive process for him I I I thought overall it was fine JJ so much of this is is you know one night type stuff but when a team like Denver has had so much cumulative success um and they start to go on a run early in the third does that does that zap more energy out of a team and in your experience no I I I it’s a good question I I don’t think whatever I have a pretty clear idea of what happened on third but whatever it was um I was not because we were haunted by the ghosts of the past or something like that it was um it was kind of obvious to me what what happened there just not the right Spirit JJ uh second consecutive game you guys were outrebounded by double digits um I guess is that I’m sure you have to look at the film to kind of decipher that but how much of that’s competing versus I guess the schematic part well we missed a lot of shots and they didn’t I I think for us to hold them to eight offensive rebounds a little bit you know I think three three at least three of those were we’re sort of late there in the in the fourth when we still had um our starters in but um that was a big point of emphasis um you know joic played 36 minutes and he got two offensive rebounds he was a averaging close to five so um you know that part of it we would like to get more offensive rebounds on an off shooting light like we had but potentially just not a lot of opportunities there to rebound because they shot 61% they were over um two points scored per turnover um almost the entire game um just how punitive did it feel watching it every time you guys would make a mistake yeah um those those put us in some tough spots and it wasn’t just there in the third um our half court defense and outside of a couple just like minor things um our half court defense and our our attention to detail on game plan stuff was really good in the first half um it was the transition and some of the turnovers that hurt us there um the live ball turnovers are they’re going to kill you no matter what we look we’ve been I think coming into tonight we were third in turnover percentage uh in the NBA so we we’ve done a good job of taking care of the basketball uh to ensure that the kind of things that you guys have been working on and the messaging um kind of R um how do you say to make sure that you don’t continue some of the mistakes that you guys have been making in terms of the transition defense in terms of the free throws in terms of turn R first Laden games and the third quarter streak how do you what’s your message to the team and how do you ensure that that kind of gets corrected as you you mentioned before yep some coaching is playing whack-a-mole you know um you you you have to address weaknesses um we certainly did some of that stuff yesterday in film and and on the court and felt pretty good about our overall just process and game plan um coming into tonight and um you know all of us just we didn’t execute it but you know in terms of the defensive Style and I told the I told the group this yesterday like we can point to whatever we want to point to um me and my staff will take some ownership on that as well like it’s not just you know players not executing the game plan it’s you know it’s all of us like we’re we’re we’re all on the same team we all want the same outcome we all want to be a good defensive team so we we’ve got to figure out that together a good first half that third quarter of the game kind of got away from you guys what do you see out there um defensively we bad uh third quarter um mother than making shots we score 15 points and the third that was a that was a game right there um you know we were giving a lot of back doors that we wasn’t giving up in the first half um you know maybe we going back to a you know a Zone set defense and we just couldn’t score the basketball a lot of points off turnovers for for Denver uh what what happened with that tonight turn the ball over um you know they shot 61 same from the field uh it’s hard to you know set your defense you know when we turn the ball over think we have 17 or 15 one of them so um do a better job taking care of the ball but uh especially in the third quarter was was just bad overall what do you make your personal night JJ thought like the process of your offense you for you with shots that you’re comfortable with had had some that usually make just Rim out but what’ you make of it yeah um just miss shots I mean I think all Great Looks you know Miss or make League uh I make more than I miss for sure um you know you always wish you know you could make every shot um confident in every shot I took shots that I normally make um all of us to be honest um shots that we all normally make we just missed um you know but uh you know I liked every shot that I took tonight just didn’t go in didj mentioned like I think he used the phrase Spirit to compete was just not there he thought in the third quarter did you feel that on the court did you feel that kind of evaporate from you guys as they sort of just kind of took off it was just the frustration part I mean we were giving up so many back doors to start the third open threes you know our defense of Michael Porter coming off uh we were getting screen you know he was you know making shots um you know when you play so well in the first half and then you come out uh like we did in that third quarter um you know giving up back doors and threes wide open you know definitely deflating um it’s not our defense and um then to comb back that you go down and you can’t make a shot so um you know when it rains it pours you know we just got to be better on both ends of the floor is any of that anything cumulative for the fact that you know these guys have kind of had your number for the last couple seasons and when it feels like you have a good first half and then all of a sudden it all goes wrong like that does that weigh on you guys do you think do you feel like kind of a we to the past all because of this team mhm um I mean I personally don’t uh I’m not sure about anyone else I don’t think it does but uh you know I think we just got to be better on both ends of the floor um you know we had multiple games this season where we played well in the first half and the second half we um we don’t but we still found ways to win now guys still made shots you know we didn’t you know 15 points in the third quarter is not going to cut it it’s anybody um and then our you know French players came in at the end and made shots but we only had I think 15 or 17 you know in the fourth as well so um we did a terrible job tonight in our offensive execution and um you know making shots and uh I think us not making shots kind of had us um this uh unorganized on the defensive end as well what impact do you think Westbrook gave them tonight what impact yeah um I mean just for their team you know he brings that energy you know know rust play he plays hard um and you know he made some some shots uh some steals you know you play how Russ plays you know um I’m pretty sure you know them guys know the history with us you know and uh probably amp them up a little bit more but you know when he comes in the game he’s very disruptive and uh brings that juice for him you especially when he’s you know making plays um so I think that kind of you know helped him a lot tonight this was the last question straight game you guys were out rebounded by double digits on the glass what have you seen from the I guess the rebounding the last couple of games um you know they guys going to crash that’s a scout report on us you know run you know when we miss run a transition and uh offensive rebound crash the glass so um we got to do a better job of putting bodies on bodies boxing out um they just that simple thank you thank you again an uncharacteristic shooting night for Anthony Davis 14.6 of 19 but I like to where said I’m going to make more than I will miss didn’t seem to be too let down by Night L tonight you got him in the NBA you’re going to have nights um you know it’s disappointing and you have to look closely at why it happened uh after you just lost a game to uh Florida uh Orlando and then had a day off and a team come in and do what they did uh yeah he’ll make points it wasn’t you know it wasn’t about making shots for me yep we know he can make shots it was about about other things in the game turning the ball over not competing you know uh just get worn down on defense without any you know meaning force with Force so yeah he’ll make the shots I’m not worried about that it’s the other attitude you know his you know his he’s the guy that we’re running it through everything and he’s got to make sure that it’s it’s run through him with with some Force so yeah making shots is something making and missing shots is part of the game but I just didn’t feel like like yic was right there and it didn’t seem like he was not there when we needed it when he makes the observation too Rob of letting Our Miss shots kind of affect our defense and then you hear JJ say the spirit to compete you wonder if it all plays A Part together it always because you know I think 99% of the league dictates how they play defense on the from from the offensive end you know if you’re not rolling offense you get you get inside your head and then you kind of like don’t play on the other end and that’s uncommon for ad I know I’m not saying ad didn’t play defense that but I’m just thinking it got into his head where he missed some bunnies the ones he’s been making all year reason average 3 and he started thinking about it the one thing I learned when the first moment I got into this league is to don’t think you’ve been playing this game for so long you just go out and play it it’s going to happen organically it’s going to happen naturally so you just trust your instincts and trust your skill set I think ad started thinking about it way too much he start going back to the old habits where he was averaging like 14 points game where he was not touching the ball in the fourth quarter so I I I know he’s going to go back he’s a smart player look at film adjust and be better next game speaking of film where do you think that dark place is JJ goes tonight he calls watching film therapy that dark place was his basement from what from whatever he was chewing on doing his press conference from you guys what did you see out there tonight uh I think we just played one of the worst quarters you could possibly play uh energy was down from uh the first possession in the third quarter and uh you know they took advantage um and ran away with the game there what’s the mindset of the team you had the tough loss the other night came down to free throws in the fourth quarter and then you have the uh The Not So Close loss tonight yeah I mean what are we 10 and six uh still in a good spot uh good spirits um you know you’re going to unfortunately have games like this games like you know last game there’s a lot of 82 games is a lot of games and uh like I said unfortunately you’re going to have some like this in the last game you just got to um you know bounce back and and and go compete as hard as you can the next game you mentioned a lack of energy in the third quarter JJ mentioned that the spirit to compete just wasn’t there did you feel the same way what were you seeing out there I guess that let to that yeah I mean I think that’s kind of just what I said and I’m sure JJ said as well um just wasn’t good enough um and that should never be you know the problem if we you know compete and lose off of not Mak a shots or um you know the other things other than you know not playing hard then you can live with those results tonight we just in the third quarter didn’t play hard what did you like about what you guys are able to do in the first half um put yourself in position I guess to kind of set the stage for the the floor fall but like what did you like about what you guys did early you weren’t able to repli I thought there was a lot of energy on the ball uh ball was moving we were getting good shots uh there was multiple times where we had you know second side actions where we drove their close outs and you know got a you know shooter on the uh you know opposite side or ad in the post uh and then defensively I thought we were physical um and we you know was executing our stuff uh but then like you said thirdd quarter was a downfall and uh unfortunately there was a downfall for us Austin uh anytime you guys play these guys the history is brought up the couple playoff series now they’ve won 13 to 14 um when they go on that run in the third quarter is that does any of that stuff kind of pop up welcome back to Lakers news Squad today we’re diving into the Lakers latest matchup against their familiar Western Conference foes the Denver Nuggets it’s a game that started with promise but quickly spiraled into a frustrating and frankly disappointing second half collapse stick around as we break it all down analyze what went wrong and explore what the Lakers can do to bounce back stronger and don’t forget to like this video subscribe to the channel for more Lakers updates and let us know your thoughts in the comments below let’s get into it the tale of two halves a game of contrasts this game had all the makings of a competitive Showdown with the Lakers holding their own in the first half but as we’ve seen too often the second half told a completely different story first half positives Austin Reeves shines Reeves was locked in scoring 19 points while dishing out six assists and grabbing three rebounds he went five for five early setting the tone offensively LeBron’s leadership LeBron James contributed across the board with 18 points seven assists and six rebounds keeping the team in syn during stretches team chemistry the offense was fluid and contributions from ruie haimura Max Christie and even Dalton connect Off the Bench gave the Lakers a narrow 63p 57 halftime lead the energy ball movement and hustle were all there in the first two quarters the Lakers even managed a 17 two-c scoring run at one point giving fans hope for a statement win the collapse what went wrong unfortunately the second half was a completely different story let’s address the elephant in the room the Lakers fell apart allowing Denver to go on a devastating 50 17 run from the second quarter into the fourth key issues turnovers carelessness with the ball plagued the Lakers gifting the Nuggets easy transition opportunities these unforced errors sucked the life out of the team’s momentum defensive breakdown the defense was simply put abysmal Michael Porter Jr caught fire draining three straight triples while the Lakers couldn’t find an answer to Denver’s offensive schemes a struggles Anthony Davis had a rough night scoring just 14 points on inefficient shooting his presence was muted offensively and defensively which hurt the Lakers in critical stretches lack of energy the team looked lethargic and uninspired as the game wore on a sharp contrast to Denver’s Relentless effort and execution the third quarter ended with the Lakers trailing by 16 and the nuggets never looked back putting the game Out Of Reach in the fourth bright spots amid the Gloom even in a tough loss like this there were a few positives worth highlighting rui hachimura’s effort back in the starting lineup ruie provided energy and key plays including a dunk and a clutch three-pointer that briefly reignited the Laker spark in the fourth quarter LeBron’s resilience even as the game Slipped Away LeBron continued to lead by example refusing to give up until the final buzzer his hustle and determination are exactly what this team needs moving forward Austin Reeves’s consistency Reeves continues to prove his value as a versatile scorer and playmaker stepping up when others struggled these individual efforts show that the Lakers have the pieces they just need to put them together consistent ly what needs to change the Lakers cannot continue this trend of collapsing in the second half especially against top tier teams like the Nuggets key adjustments to focus on cleanup turnovers sloppy ball handling is killing momentum the Lakers must prioritize smarter decision-making and ball security defensive intensity defense wins championships the Lakers need to bring the same same energy on defense in the second half as they do in the first involving ad Mo Anthony Davis is too important to this team to have an off Night Like This the coaching staff must find ways to get him better looks and keep him engaged throughout the game consistency across quarters the Lakers can’t afford to play only 24 minutes of good basketball they need to maintain focus and effort for the full 48 minutes final thoughts don’t lose faith yes this loss is frustrating yes the second half collapses are becoming a pattern but let’s not lose sight of the bigger picture the Lakers have the talent the leadership and the potential to turn things around every season has its growing pains and this team is still finding its identity under coach JJ reck with LeBron James continuing to defy Father Time Austin Reeves emerging as a star and Anthony Davis capable of dominating on both ends the Lakers have everything they need to contend this game was a wakeup call but it’s also an opportunity to improve with the next matchup against the Phoenix Suns looming the Lakers have a chance to bounce back and show us what they’re truly made of outro music playing that’s it for today’s Lakers news Squad what did you think of the game what adjustments do you want to see the Lakers make let us know in the
