Club in San Gabriel California this is me Rob Richards we are just getting set up here as you see we’re going to our first match of the day is is group stage will be step Wong versus Charles Benham is day one so this is group stage it’s a best of three and this is being done remotely so bear with us as we try and work out some of the technical issues that we may have so it’ll be Charles to break here in frame one Steven Wong the owner of the embassy buillard Club in San Gabriel California the host room for this fine event along with our sponsors Ox promotions Ox buers in Seattle I believe along with tacy choice and of course the United States snooker Association Ste looking to come off into the bunch here so ladies and gentlemen and I do apologize for any laps in the internet connection we’re just trying to sort a few things out everything everybody’s got connected there’s quite a few streams going there’s a stream on the embassy Channel and also a stream on the David Bernie’s Channel just touching up to the Reds here is Charles and unfortunately he just puted the pink in the right middle so the internet is still being worked on it’s a little bit choppy but we’ll get through it Ste W the help of the rest looking to come off the bunch here just hide that white back in the bulk end wow that really opened up the Reds oh Charles does have a red that’s very P along to the left corner so as we saw yesterday or I saw in the players meeting for the groups stages they will be scoring in the simplified mode meaning once a player is done they will go and mark their score and update the score for us now Charles didn’t take that red on and he’s well he’s okay Steven will do well to find a path back to bulk here that’s okay oh there’s a red Just Two Reds down from The Pink Spot Charles can play off the left side of take that white back into the bulk area he’s got to be careful though doesn’t want to push one over to the right corner welcome Debbie glad you can make it wait still waiting for our internet connection to settle in Steven looking to hide that white back into the bulk area the reds are certainly spread nice and wide the BL is out of commission for the time being certainly this got to be opportunity here for Charles to pot this red to the bottom left corner should be able to pot this red f through off the bottom cushion pink should be waiting for him to right middle what what back Jo ped that red but failed to pot that pink to the top right corner hasn’t left anything on too easy Steven’s gotten away with one here I believe ladies and gentlemen we will be live here from Z Gabriel California for the next several days so today and tomorrow will be the group stages and then Sunday and Monday will be The Knockout rounds not a lot of points scored the way the reds are sitting Steven looking for a bit of a containing safety here has he got it it’s going to be close Charles in this pink top right corner should put him nice on the red that’s still in bulk so not a lot to do with the white here wow he’s got a very thin cut on this red to the same pocket not ideal so red the right middle 14 14 for 17 for stop stop for that’s somewhat okay now so we have Steven Wong versus Charles benam stepen Wong leading this first frame 2724 I just want to say thank you all for your patience Charles getting a good rub off the bottom rail on those Reds there look at this what a fortunate bit of luck there Step looking to get out of this mess back into bulk NOP didn’t have the red to do it so wisely enough just touching up here however he will find himself back in the bulad for even nominating the brown looking to come back down the table Two Reds by the pink are available not as close to the red as he intended so mid-range red just to the right of the pink bottom right corner not all lowed to do with the white should up on the black or the pink here well this is not ideal thin black bottom left needs it to go and he attempted to chip out a couple of the Reds of the three there unfortunately went right around the backs side of them he’s left with a shot with the rest here nice pot there by Steven and he’s back in in position so this black the bottom left will’ll leave him on the red not alloted to do the red will be available at a good angle there to stunt off the bottom cushion play this red into the same corner so as I said earlier ladies and gentlemen the score will be updated at the end of each player’s turn well that’s not a bad shot at all this red however is going to be little tricky so it’s going to be this open red I believe he had a look at the pting angle to the bottom left corner just past the pink a little thick nice pot there by Charles so Steven Wong leading 5624 now however Charles just putted that red he’s nicely on the brown one red remaining well tried to make something out of nothing there and he seemingly got position so he’s left a pot on these ones can’t be a little tricky especially when you have the que butt and lifted well good part for so it appears stepen in position to take this first opening frame this is the United States snooker champ Championship 2024 live from Embassy Billiards Club in San Gabriel California I am Rob Richards wishing I was in California right now it’s a little cold out here in the GTA however s Gabriel at Embassy boards Club is just heating up for the day inside and out that’s for sure Steven Wong leading 62 to 25 so we 37 in front folks and that should be the frame there that would put him 39 in front there you have it frame one of this opening contest goes to Steven won over Charles benam so ladies and gentlemen do stay with us frame two be coming up in just a few moments we have I believe a full field of 64 players for this event this year this is certainly event I’ve been looking forward to for the past couple of months this will be my first time with the United States snucker champion ship and very proud to be a part of it so the players just taking a comfort break as it were ladies and gentlemen I will be here all day every day for the next four days including Monday bring you some of the so thank you all for being here frame two almost set to get underway here so I believe frame two coming up when they’re ready will be Steven Wong to break leading this first match of the group stage 1 n over Charles Benham all right friends here we go frame two Steven W to break that’s a very typical break of three cushions back to bulk leaving only one red available for Charles Ste with a good part on that red absolutely feeling pretty good after winning the opening frame he might choose to go into the bunch but he’s got a few open Reds so he doesn’t need to however ping that blue in that manner hit causing him to just getting a a nudge that he wasn’t looking for Thin Red nicely played will that white hold up and it won’t so early going is in this second frame quite assured now it’s just going to be touching up to the green here possibly the brown may even I can’t think it’ be no position in taking this brown on oh he did attempt the putt oh there’s no real advantage in playing the Snicker there more than likely would have gotten out of it and gotten safe so St attempted the brown didn’t get it still left it safe Charles hitting that that one with quite a lot of pace I believe he was looking to catch that a little bit thicker so Steven’s just going to come off the right side of the bunch back the bulk here so Steven Wong was early mere seven-point lead in this second frame and this is the group stage so every frame matters and that is unfortunate Charles with not a very good safety there will leave a pot on it’s a thin one but it’s available so just CUO back the ball didn’t play the pot it was quite obvious is it missed it by at least two feet for well there’s a red two Up From the Block but the red just above the black W pot now where has his luck that black out of the way it is so Steven nicely in the balls now with a should be able to get through to that brown but it appears it’s going to be really close and the block does not go didn’t have the brown so he played a thin block didn’t leave anything now this is going to be an interesting frame folks with the two colors in the BL certainly blocking that leftand pocket this is where we might see some of the Reds get pushed over to the left side of the table oh Charles trying to come thin off that red hit it rather thick and I don’t think he’s gotten away with it this red is cuddled to that right center now if stepen can get on the Block here it will open things up and he is so nicely played however that after putting the block it’ll open the Pocket for the brown but the brown is still in the way of any red going to that pocket 15 so Steven with a 16-point lead 16 to nil Charles benam back at the table and he’s not looking at a whole lot here but trouble needs to find a way a pathway back to bulk here without leaving anything on and from our view there’s nothing easy this could be a spot of bother so he did find a way out now it’s going to be Steven with the same dilemma looking to come behind the block off this red here oh this is now going to get it very interesting that Browns out of the way of the potting angle to that bottom left corner for ston just coming off the bunch there not a all L to go at a little bit of cat Mouse no need to push out the boat you got the first frame doesn’t want to give away anything easy so quite content being patient at the moment but at some point somebody’s going to have to push out the boat sooner or later good attempt there by Charles didn’t go but it was more of a contained safety than a pot that could have gone very wrong but he’s okay he’s not too bad oh stepen looking to get that white back the bulk cut the knuckle that left middle and he’s going to get away with it here folks [Applause] so early goings the second frame if ladies and gentlemen if you are just joining us I am Rob Richards this is the United States Snooker Championship 2024 live from Embassy bards Club in San Gabriel California this is our first match in the group stage it’s best of three between Steven Wong and Charles benam Steven leading one frame to nil not a bad play there by Charles Steven now at the table with a very tricky out looking to little bit aside to get P the green for this red to the right of the block that’s not too bad little bit of congestion on this bottom left hand side of the table now well that’s not ideal he’s brought a red with them back to the bcan so Steven have an easy out here target areas get that white behind the green and yellow little firm but he’s okay there’s nothing really pable just yet now if he plays this red correctly he may just po a ball into that bottom left corner and he’s going to get not much here and he’s not too lucky so Steven Wong with an opportunity now so he’s going to have to go back up the table for the blue pink and black are tied up for the moment overrun the blue but he’s nicely on the Green now simple draw back off this green there’s a red just below the blue no he didn’t come as far as he wanted to he knows the block doesn’t go to that left corner is’s going to try and get to the left side of the black to pot it in the right corner no back up for blue and once again won’t get to the the proper or top side of the blue so he’s going to have to go in and out of bulk here it does have a lot of room so there’s no traffic see see come off that top cushion and disturb a few of these Reds down here doesn’t need to just yet man he overrun the open red that does pot so that’ll be end of break stepen looking at this plant this should be some shot if he can make this [Applause] WOW deserved a little bit better than that he has a pot of the blue but he’s hampered quite bit by that red so just safety off the yellow score will be updated here in a moment you see see Steven W leading 27 to nil in this second frame wow what a great attempt he got out now I don’t believe Steven has a putt on here unless you can see enough of this open red to the right well he had enough of it to get that Cubo back down the table into the bulk end players obviously have the best view sh just Charles looking to come off the right side of this red not really an attacking player that we’ve seen as of yet today however it is the first match for these players playing some good safeties however safeties will only get you so far sooner or later you will have to pot a ball well the only time you don’t mind a frame like this folks is when you’re in the lead so Steven Wong sitting in the driver’s seat has an open red to the bottom left corner through the gap between the red and pink nicely played so this will will certainly help out Steven not so much for Charles Steven just needs to maintain good Q ball control here now we should be able to come back for blue or black more than likely it will be blue off this red to the bottom left left corner so Charles looking like he’s going to be in a bit of trouble here in this match for that [Applause] for for [Applause] so as we see ladies and gentlemen Steven Wong with a good lead 38 to nil in this second frame Charles does have a pot here he desperately needs to make something out of this everything is on the cushion now this red where’s this red going to go well it’s certainly available one Steven will go for is he can’t be leaving much and a definite favorite for this Frame for up so a bit of a grind as they would say oh that’s just not what Charles was looking for oh my so as soon as the score there we go 42 to nil now 59 on so stepen requires red color red may have a go at this Thin Red to the bottom right corner can’t leave anything except the one he’s shooting on but he chose to let his opponent shoot again now his opponent will have ball in hand he’s 42 points down now there’s a thin red to the bottom right corner if he plays this in white are be coming back up the table and hopefully if he makes it which he won’t he would have been on the brown now this red again is covered to that right center as I said before Stephen only requires red color red here has he hit it hard enough he has red color F five potted so 47 with 51 on frame match ball right here so if Charles comes back to the table he will be requiring Snookers here in this second frame no pot there so Steven’s quite content 48 in front 43 on Charles benam back at the table requiring two Snookers to continue this match won’t get it where’s this white going to end up where’s the red going to end up well folks I believe that’s going to be frame and match Steven Wong the owner of Embassy just having to look at he’s the owner of the club so we have to look at something there cuz I knew you’re busy and there you see concession has been made so your winner will be Steven Wong over Charles B by a frame score one or the oh unless he’s overhead it well he has overhead it he’s not in an enviable position enviable position to play this part 34 so I believe there we see Darren Taylor up by 34 to nil so Raj now just going to touch up to the bunch as there’s a red and bulk and you can’t pop from this angle was there a possible plant there I missed well I guess possibly however this could be the makings of a quick frame here there was quite possibly a pot there plant however um Darren that was a great scoring opportunity to end this match quickly pink the right middle and it’s there a little bit of a stretch for this red to the bottom left corner now take get a nudge on the Block he’s okay not exactly in as good position as he would have liked to be kind of lost a little bit on couple of shots ago when he puted that pink to right middle so it requires a good po here this blue to Right Center that’s not bad choice of Reds now just roll this pink in this is going to be a quick frame quick match Raj having a look at the score know the he knows the writing is on the wall here Darren Taylor looking to become a champion again backto back Champion every frame has its key moment and that uh attempted plant from Raj just open the Reds far and wide so not a lot for Darren to do here but keep his QQ ball on a string as it were be mindful of where that White’s going and should be this match frame and match should be done and dusted here in just a few moments oh except he fails to get that pink to drop so you just heard Darren made a score of 21 that break so it brings him up to 55 to nil tricky red bottom right corner needs it to go needs everything to go and it won’t sorry folks just’s a little bit of internet traffic for 7 so Darren 62 to 16 in front of course Raj has made a few points here have to wait for the updated as soon as raj is done however so he’s made Seven it gives him a total of 23 to 62 two so 39 so mathematically he’s still there now he’s going to have a real hard look at this position and I’m not sure he can get position on this red from our vantage point doesn’t look possible a lot of pocket there for for so Darren table with a 32 lead 32o lead rather in the second frame 62 to 30 in front one red remaining so he’s going to make it very difficult now for r who I believe is snookered from our angle quite possibly if he plays this right could get a return oh he won’t get the return as he parted the Red no he won’t so this red bottom left corner for frame and match for Darren Taylor and there’s the long red so the system they are using is a roll on rolloff system here today today ladies and gentlemen I know some of you have your favorites if you look at Cloud snooker.org you can see all the scores that are happening right now for this championship and a ja propar who is the creator of cloud snooker and the scoring app so thanks to him for that is also a competitor in this event so wish him and all the other players the best of luck Darren with a 40-point lead with 27 on and yet play continues so Darren will win this Frame he will win this match Raj just not giving it up just yet requires four Snookers and with a player like Darren that’s going to be really almost a Monumental task for oh we’re just going to sit here and wait until the yellow gets potted this match is I believe over Darren leading 70 to 30 so he’s 40 points in front with 27 on you most people are wondering why he’s not ready to give it up well he’s just not so Raj do have an opportunity to get a Snicker here not he is in a snooker there but it’s not one that I expect him to miss one I expect him to get absolutely so now remember there’s no putbacks because Snookers are required so it won’t be a Miss I don’t expect him to miss it what sorry ladies and gentlemen not much to say at the moment you know that this day is going to be a long day so I hope you settle in got your comfy pants on got your slippers on your feet up if you’re here like me in the GTA it’s a wet and cold damp kind of day so to have some of this snooker action on TV is fan freaking tastic however we’ll keep it at that level get some excitement going I’m sure in just a few moments um quite a large number of views already today so the interest in snooker is there and growing this is the obsa YouTube channel where the world is watching and that’s not just a
