these two teams yeah yeah but now not only do you need Denver to win you need him to win by 40 yeah yeah we were just talking about that how crazy Michael Malone’s going to be in the fourth quarter of this game nuggets up by like 12 points and he’s going to be like I need you to keep jacking threes we need to win this thing by 38 points tonight I kind of like that I mean I’m assuming that opposing teams might get a little angry at it but they have to understand this is the nature of this tournament well Jason kid said before tonight’s game they asked him about the NBA cup and he said that he goes and the other crazy thing is is every Point matters so he understands that so I mean without luk tonight if it comes down to that I mean I does Malone coach that way or I mean I don’t I I’m still trying to figure this whole thing out yeah if if you have a 18-point lead and there’s 5 minutes left to go are are you trying to gain Point differential are you as a head coach doing that I mean it’s nothing that they’ve ever done before in their lives coaching that way you know what I mean so I to me it’s a hard thing to wrap my head around but we’ll see we’ll see what transpires the main thing is the main thing ber though win the damn game first of all right that that would be fairly nice you got to you got to win this one otherwise you will be out of the knockout stage almost definitely yeah for sure so um I I want to talk about a few things from that win uh last time out against the Memphis Grizzlies but let us start with the fact that mikae Malone tied dougm Mo for most wins is head coach of the Denver Nuggets and obviously he’s going to own that record here and well he could do it tonight so I I guess it it it’s been 10 years of micheel Malone is the bench boss the Denver Nuggets how do you think it’s gone so far well Bert I mean when you when you have the best player on the planet it’s a hell of a lot easier I mean you know that road trip would have would have showed you that um you know it kind of reminds me his his run here in Denver is basically what Greg papovich had in San Antonio when he had Duncan jobi and Parker um you know the best thing to do is just not screw it up you know what I mean um so he’s had he’s had a he’s had a lot of good players and and leading that charge was niola yic B I thought he was a very average coach when he first got here to Denver I thought he made a bunch of game time mistakes and a lot of time management mistakes uh but he’s gotten a lot better and you know let’s not forget that coaches can improve too it’s not just the guy on the floor and he’s much better now and obviously a lot more comfortable but yeah so does that mean he gets a banner up here Bert yeah Doug’s got one right yeah so yeah I’m assuming but when do you put that did they put Dougs up there there after he he retired or did they do it when he got the record I you know what I I I don’t remember I I think you’d have to wait until they’re done so you know the total wins right right so you put it on the banner like 752 whatever it’s going to be yes exactly that interesting all right I and then I want to talk to you about another person who set an NBA record in that win over the Grizzlies and that’s Russell Westbrook who recorded his 200th triple double of his career the most in the NBA now the nuggets have the uh first and fourth most triple doubles in the NBA with Russ and Joker of all time in the history of the league so what do you think about uh Russ getting a triple double getting to 200 and helping the nuggets out on that road trip yeah he chased down that game ball he wanted he wanted to keep that one Berto and you know I I talked to Russell on the bus and I’m like hey enjoy it while it lasts and he just goes I know he know Joker coming so yeah I mean it’s good I mean uh you know 17-year veteran in the NBA still getting triple doubles uh the dude’s a freaking nature and I still think the best part about him BD he’s one of those guys that you hate it when he when when he’s not on your team but when he’s on your team you love it yeah um just his competitive fire I mean he doesn’t want to be an end of the bench guy and you know trying to talk to young players I mean he still does that but he wants to be a factor he wants to be a part of this thing so uh I just tip my hat to him the energy and and the drive he has and even to be able to still put up numbers the way he does is it’s incredible cuz I promise you one thing yic will not play in the NBA for 17 years right that’s a long time Russ has been around for a long time um is there the the way Russell Westbrook plays the game it could could I mean that kind of mentality would help any any player on any team but is there one player on the Nuggets that you wished would Embrace that no chill 100 milph kind of attitude of Russell Westbrook you know Denver does have a bunch of active guys you know I mean I when you think about it that’s a really good question because if you think about it in your in your basketball eye who plays slow on this team right you know I don’t even know who that I mean Dario sarage kind of plays a little slow you know but but all the other guys are all young dudes and they got to play their butts off or they don’t get minutes and you know Porter plays quick Jamal Murray plays quick I’m not sure there’s a dude on their squad that really needs to get motivated by you know playing a lot more aggressively or or with a lot more Pace I think they do a pretty good job of that I mean Denver’s top five in Pace in the NBA so I mean they’re doing something right mhm how did you think Jamal Jamal Murray led the led the game in scoring against Memphis and was a plus 18 in that contest he was five of 10 from three one of the better games for Jamal on the season how do you think he looked in that context yeah he was fantastic bird he played 36 minutes shot the ball well finally um his plus minus was out the roof like you said at 18 27 points in that basketball game he had only three turnovers to six assists so that’s about as as far as you want to go on assist to turnover ratio but uh yeah that’s the kind of Jamal Murray that’s the kind of Jamal Murray you need not the 13 points that you had in New Orleans or I I think it was in New Orleans at I can’t remember one of those games on that road trip he just was a little bit lackluster and didn’t show up but if he plays like that with joic back then as soon as you get Aaron Gordon then then the boys are clicking on all cylinders again mhm we haven’t done this in a couple of weeks but would you like to complain about the Nuggets upcoming schedule cuz this is a wild one you got going on here over the next four or five days yeah you got about three games and four nights and then you got to travel West and then you have that uh Stupid sleep study thing that everybody’s doing Bert so you don’t really get time off at home anymore um so what the Nuggets used to do is you you travel to La and then fly back out out after the game and yeah it sucks when you land at 2 or 2:00 in the morning and you get home at 3: or land at 3: and get home at 4:00 but at least you slept in your own bed and you woke up at 9:00 in the morning and you had the whole day off now that’s no longer a thing now the bus they stay after the game now the bus leaves like at 11: plane leaves at 12:30 2 and 1/2 hour flight that makes it 3 by the time you get home at 4:00 and welcome to your one day off between you know sandwiching between three games so yeah it’s tough and you know but then again you know the Nuggets had a bunch of day they had like a mini All-Star break not so long ago too you know so you take you got to take the good with the bad around that by the way Berke I’m going to blow your mind yeah n is here first of all I heard I heard I heard okay so I sent in you an interview if you want to play that now or at halftime whenever you want to do it um and with him tonight I think me and you might be the only people that know who this guy is do you remember Pia savovic yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah what’s he doing I mean he’s still not like what’s he doing no he’s not yeah yeah he’s uh he’s got you know he’s n by the way looks like he could still play but uh how do I put this nicely Savo does not look like he can still play yeah man n n was man how long did he play for the Nuggets during that era during like the r friends era of the Nuggets it was like eight eight or nine years I think wow man yeah I remember him being a a part of the franchise for a good long while but I just wouldn’t remember like how long that actual number was yeah and and if I remember and I confirmed this with him out of his draft class when whenever that was he was uh he was the last man standing last person playing last person playing in his draft hang on Bak has got it right here yeah he played uh he played in Denver from 99 to 202 no from 2022 from 2002 to 20 2012 so 10 years wow wow man yeah yeah I never would have pic I mean I know he was there for a long time but I never would have thought a decade of May so yeah man I have good memories of those teams even though they didn’t win a lot of games where that you yeah no I do and you know and I I go back to draft N I can’t remember who our GM was there but that’s when we made the trade to get n in the draft and then we had another opportunity I think is this the right draft to get Amari STM and you had Melo the previous year that was when Kiki Kiki was the GM right yes and they didn’t want to draft Amari stmy because all he did was dunk and his mom was in prison I’m like come on man the guy’s a hell of an athlete cuz could you imagine having Melo Na and Amari STM on the floor at the same time that’s a hell of a front line right there yeah but man those were great those I I have I have happy memories of those days yeah those I mean Jeff Buzz dillick was the coach of those teams right at least for a good chunk of them and since we got time to kill here Bert um the the mo the the best well I don’t know if it’s the best but the richest golf tournament I ever played we were at Greg Norman’s course down there in South Florida fancy and we had a couple of days off or whatever and he said listen I wanted to let you guys know I never wanted to keep your fine fine money so we’re going to put together a golf tournament here today and whoever wins when’s the when’s the fine money now to to Joan Howard and N of the world this doesn’t mean much right but I was invited to play so I think my cut was like $65,000 man I was locked in but the reason I bring that up is I had Pia savovic on my team and he never played oh and of course as competitive as all basketball players are everybody cheated so it was a complete nut harassment good times man good time all right what do you think about a Dallas Mavericks team minus Luca dones tonight it’s a lot like well it’s a lot like Denver without Nicola yic I mean although I will say this Kyrie Irving’s been balling lately man that guy is I mean he played well against Denver he put up 40 some odd points3 yeah 43 against Denver here about a week ago or whenever that was so he’s trying to carry this team until Luca comes back uh but it’s just different right Bird it takes you a while to figure out I I think that you know they they’ve won a couple though I mean is it safe to say that Luca doesn’t affect his team as much as niola affects Denver nuggets’ team as much oh Pro you’re right probably Pro or or the Nuggets just don’t have a Kyrie on their team Kyrie is I mean he’s a great player mhm yeah so that’s about the way I’d handicap it but um he’ll be back I mean that these guys going to be just fine and you know they’re playing really hard without him they they’re not just giving it up saying well we don’t we don’t have Luca so we might as well just go out here and go through the motions they want to prove to everybody that yes Luca is their star player but they can win without him so they have that kind of mindset and that and that’s credit to Jason kid all right all right how about the keys to the contest BR what’s that Warriors score you the it looks like the warrior well they’re up 99 to 91 with six minutes to go yeah we really need the Pelicans to beat the Warriors see now you got me into the or it’s going to be tough to to to get out of the group stage well you got me talking about the NBA cup good job uh Bert the keys of the game you got to make tough shots on them they’re the sixth best uh shooting team in the NBA that changes obviously a little bit when Luke is not here yet ironically they’re not they’re not very good from downtown so Denver’s got to do a good job and make it really hard on them inside the arc number two for Denver on the offensive end Let it Fly Denver’s a much better three-point shooting team than the Dallas Mavericks are so if the Nuggets get one of those nights where they’re connecting from downtown uh that’s a huge step in the right direction and on the glass B the Denver Nuggets are now the third best rebounding team in the NBA the Dallas Mavericks are 19 so hold them to one shot get the rebound and go and boy I got to tell you what that pace of play that transition stuff that they’ve been doing here um ever since probably the going on right now in the NBA the the biggest one is what’s happening between the Warriors and the Pelicans if the Golden State Warriors beat the Pelicans the Warriors will improve to 3 and 0 in West Group C the Nuggets Group which would mean the Nuggets would have a hard time getting to The Knockout stage they’d have to they they they do have a game against Golden State they’d have to win tonight against Dallas and then they’d have to beat Golden State by a lot uh when they face off in the final game of the group stage so it would be nice if the Pelicans could find a way to win this thing but right now they Trail by five points with 18 seconds to go it is 110 105 Golden State so that’s not an ideal scenario for the Nuggets Andrew Wiggins has got 30 points in this contest for the Warriors who not only that are going to improve to 12 and three on the season if they can find a way to hold on to the final 18 seconds of this thing the Bucks are beating the Pacers there in the fourth quarter it’s 108 to 97 Milwaukee there’s still 7 Minutes uh to go in that game Giannis has 28 points7 rebounds and 10 assists as uh the uh Milwaukee Bucks are in the number two spot in their group you know who’s leading that group the Detroit Pistons the P the Pistons are two and 0 in least East Group B uh the Bucks are trying to improve to 2 and0 in NBA cup play if they if they win this thing the Bulls and the Hawks are going at it Atlanta leads their group hold on let me make sure I’m almost sure yeah Atlanta leads their group which includes the Boston Celtics Atlanta is uh 2 and0 uh in the NBA cup obviously the Celtics just won earlier today so they’re now two and one so uh the the Hawks are trying to improve to three and0 but it a I don’t I don’t think it’s going to happen cuz the Bulls currently have a 121 to 102 lead over Atlanta with five minutes to go in the game it looks like that is not going to happen and the Houston Rockets are taking on the Portland Trailblazers the
