oh [Music] welcome into Detroit Lions live Cure auto insurance postgame show coming to you live from Indianapolis 24-6 is the final here in week 12 between the Detroit Lions in the Indianapolis Colts Detroit win streak and they got it today on the road Detroit still perfect and opponent’s stadiums alongside the Super Bowl champ Lis Brown I’m Danny Rogers Detroit defense only gave up two field goals from the Colts all game long they happened in the first half and they couldn’t muster up any points after that what did you see from the defense all day long L Man Dan our defense I’ll tell you what they’ve been playing on another level especially these last three or four weeks I would actually dare to say the defense has been carrying the offense so it’s been great to see uh these guys get turnovers when they have to and they get timely stops they don’t let teams get in the red zone and I I think that’s been the biggest difference from our defense compared to years before teams can’t get in the end zone they’re only putting up three points against us and conversely we’re putting up seven points so it’s a great combination going right now all we got to do is keep it going Dan first game all season long no takeaway for these Detroit Lions defense you have the leader in ints and Kirby Joseph in the secondary they couldn’t muster up any ints or takeaways they had no sacks but they did have over 100 rushing yards they have done that in every single game so far this season they also got at least one rushing touchdown actually three today they’ve done that in all games prior to this one Jared G goes 26 of 36 on the day 269 yards and these Detroit Lines dominated time of possession by almost a full quarter on these Colts what sticks out to you l i I think the way that we won Danny we established the line of scrimmage both offensively and defensively I think we really control that and so when you control the line of scrimmage guess what you’re able to run the ball control the clock when you control it defensively guess what you’re able to get their offense off the field three downs and out and they’re off there and you’re giving your uh offense more opportunities to say get the ball in the end zone so it it it’s been great it’s been working great Danny and we’ve been kind of each unit has been kind of feeding off each other and that’s what we need at this point of the year yeah pretty complete day from all three phases here but the head coach Dan Campbell is standing by at the podium let’s hear from Dan Campbell when you know that got us to 10 and um you know that was that was good we came and did what we had to do I thought that I thought that team fought we knew they would you know I I think uh you know Shane and and does a great job I think Gus always has done a great job those defenses play hard they’re physical and they didn’t uh they never better deny they were in it till the end and and fought our ass so credit to them uh you know I I would highlight our defense first I mean that there again this is you know whatever it is 10 quarters without allowing a touchdown three last games in the second half we’re not allowing it so man we are uh you know we’re we talk about all the time limiting points uh play physical style shut down the Run we were able to do that we knew Jonathan uh Taylor was was going to be the guy we needed to shut down we did that they quarterback runs they got us on a couple but for overall uh we did what we needed do and we kept them out of that game offense um so much of it was really the way it went down early in the game you know we were able to kind of get that lead uh two of those drives went down and uh scored touchdowns which was big and then just kind of kept them at arms length to where they couldn’t quite get to us um you know and and a lot of that was field position we talked about going in the game field position was going to be big we were going to lean on Jack Fox and boy he came through for us you know what a what a monster day uh pinning those guys inside the 20 numerous times um you know so overall team effort good win that’s 10 uh and now we got to get ready for Chicago in a short week back home well look when you talk about good Red Zone offenses they run the ball Red Zone offenses that are that are probably top five all of them can run the football and that’s what you have to be able to do and then you can play past all that we shut down the run we’re really good at shutting down the run so it starts there but the amount of detail that goes into what we do um you know AG every week uh the plan is good it’s something we talk about it’s something we preach we know it’s got to be part of our DNA no different than stopping the run is not allowing points which means you better be good in the red zone so I think it’s all in com soon coaches do a great job and then our guys are just they’re taking it to heart and uh we’re applying pressure you know well look there there’s nothing there is nothing easy about that you know and you get so many reps live during the week and I say live it’s not like we’re tackling but full speed to to get a look at it um and and then you get in there you know they you gain the numbers back when the quarterback’s a runner right you get a one for one there is no more uh Extra Man in the Box things like that so if one person Misfits the Run uh you get hurt and you know that happened early in the game just a couple you know one play here one player here one player here we didn’t quite fit it right and all of a sudden they’re on you uh and they get it you know he gets a a 10 yard run explosive run something like that so once we kind of calm down talk about it this is what we got to do um you know we were able to we were able to settle down and get it get it done get it taken care of and so it was really as simple as that man just handling your business time it doesn’t mean there’s anything easy about it I mean this guy’s a load uh and with Jonathan back there you know with the option of of that and then his ability to push it down the field we you know did what we had to do so you know that was we asked a lot of our defense today and they did a great job uh look I I do think there again it it starts with ag and that staff and then those players man we’ve been around each other long enough they’ve been around each other to know exactly what we’re looking for we have an identity about us we know the critical factors uh as it pertains to winning and those guys take that stuff serious and so uh and we take next man up serious you know those guys know it’s it’s why we in practice those guys get real reps we don’t just uh not let some of the next men up get in there and get real reps with our guys you know um and that’s what we’ve been able to do and and then I think we play play pretty complimentary uh you know football really you know it’s it’s you know and I think that’s a sign of a pretty good team is when defense needs it the offense shows up and vice versa and special teams is the the great counterbalance for us and has really helped us out when we need it so um you know it’s just we’re we’re playing good defense right now and look I would say that we got a bunch of guys that are you know they’re pretty gritty guys man they play hard uh they run they hit uh the pretty smart guys um and they do what what we asked them to do and they they they go all out doing it so normally you’ll you’re going to have you’ll always have a chance to play pretty good when when you have guys that that’ll do that yeah I mean we’ll we’ll see you know so much of this I’m you know I’m not going to know really you know the four you know obviously leaf and and Dave Montgomery uh deck deck was able to come back out but then we pulled him again uh late um and um yeah and Carlton you know so you know I I don’t know I I feel okay about three of those guys Leaf could be a little bit little bit more serious but but even with that that doesn’t mean any of those guys are going to be ready for Thursday so I just don’t know so yeah it’ll but but look I don’t know Chicago’s deal yet I don’t know what they’re dealing with but I’m I’m sure they’ve got injuries you know everybody’s got them and you know the league doesn’t care they do the schedule and we play this and we roll you know and then seven days later we got Green Bay so be it man and uh that’s that’s the way it rolls and uh we’ll be ready we’ll have our unit ready to go Thursday back home Thanksgiving division opponent and uh we’ll be locked in and ready to roll UC third Medi R do know um you know I I just look I I give I give Ben a lot of credit you know Ben Ben looks at a number of things um you know as as it pertains to to that run and pass and what what gives us the best chance to have success and um and I think it it kind of starts there and I it’s another one of those things it’s a mentality you know it’s kind of one of the things we do here and if we really believe we can we can do it and get it we’ll do it and it’s really not just a throwaway for us like we really believe if we’re going to call it on Third and seven we’re going to get the first or third and eight or whatever it is I mean that’s um but it’s been good for us it’s a curveball right it’s a change up and uh so it’s it’s paying dividends for us yeah I I I think we’re so locked in and the here and now you know and that it’s it’s hard to it’s a little bit like last year man you you get through it and then maybe you can take a breath and turn around and look behind you and see what you did but right now we’re we’re just going we’re rolling um the one that I was um cuz I did read the this this morning was about um you know winds on the road and I don’t know what we are 5 and0 6 and0 this year whatever but but it did it gave me a flashback to 21 excuse me 22 and at that point we were 011 and one on the road 011 and one and uh and just thinking about that and and now I think we’re 16 and5 since then you know and just that group of guys you know I said something in the locker room about it and looking at golf and Frank and deck and Su and you know El and S you know and it’s like man you remember that um but all of those guys are responsible for for the flip everybody that’s in that locker room is responsible for it and you know it says a lot if you can win on the road you’re normally a pretty damn good team and we can win on the road um and anyway we’re we’re in a good place and and we just we’re just playing ball trying trying to get the next win and this one is going to be huge you know the division opponent it’s it’s a big one you know you can sit around here and you know it’s great win another them we’re all happy but you lose a division game and all a sudden man uh it doesn’t feel real good and Minnesota and Green Bay are just sitting right there and it and Chicago’s not out of this either so this is a this is a big this is a big week yeah I don’t I don’t feel like that was um I I didn’t I guess I didn’t put really any stock in it Dave you know I I didn’t that doesn’t shock me like I think he could take a load uh like David can you know um and no matter if you didn’t have one or the other you’re still going to you’re still going to use somebody just to kind of take some of the the load off of those guys but I thought he did did a good job man you know those are some hard yards he got um in there and so that was good to see but I’m not surprised I’m really not okay really wow being the starting quarterback for the Lions moving out here to Detroit what’s the first thing you learned about car insurance yeah I learned it’s a challenge and and I’m curious what brought you to Lions live inside Lucas Oil Stadium Detroit getting a big week 12 win over the Colts to move to 10 and one on the season the injury bug keeps hitting these Detroit Lines they keep responding but one of these days lus David Montgomery he was on a tear before he went down in the fourth quarter uh shoulder was the injury he did not return back to the game that’s a big hit for someone who is so lethal in the contact balance game he does not go down when he gets hit no he do oh my God Dany he doesn’t I mean you better bring your friends to the party when you try to tackle David mcgomery cuz it’s going to take more than one person and you’re right Danny that was a big blow even though he was on the sideline he didn’t come back in the rest of the game um that was a big blow and you right these injuries man I just hope we don’t start getting the rash of these because to me that’s the only thing that can derail your season would be injuries you talking about khif Raymond we have to wait to see how that works out and then some of the other guys Cardon Davis left the game early so hopefully again these injuries won’t become a problem for us Montgomery is our had our has our play of the game rather that second quarter touchdown that put these Detroit Lines up 14-6 on the day that was his 11th touchdown of the Season his season high is 13 TDS he said that last year so he could go back to back consecutive seasons of Breaking his own record I think he will Danny I think that’s a safe bet that we can take in these next few games he’ll get that but again that’s just how important he’s been for this offense that’s how important he’s been for this team this year he’s a guy again man it’s going to take more than one guy to stop him and he just runs so hard so determined man it’s just so great to see and those big guys up front they love blocking for David Montgomery these Detroit Lions are undefeated when both of their backs score a touchdown and that’s exactly what they did today jir Gibbs got the scoring started in the second quarter it would take a whole quarter for that scoring game to really get going but Gibbs ends up with two touchdowns on the day he has surpassed his what is it ninth touchdown on the season now that was in the second quarter and then adds his 10th tutty of the Season there in the second half so it doesn’t matter which one you try to stop the other one’s just going to come back even more full force yeah you’re right that that’s why we call them we affectionally call them Sonic and what Knuckles Knuckles all right that cuz they do it differently they get it done in different ways but both of them are very effective at what they do so again jir if you could get this guy out in space heck when he’s not out in space he makes guys miss because he’s so elusive but it’s just such a change up to have David mcgomery comeing there and get those hard yardage between the tackles and then you get jir Gibb get him out in space and let him get out and do what he does jir Gibbs is our player of the game 99 yards from scrimmage today he has 70 plus scrimmage yards in each his first 11 games this season you know the only other Detroit Lion to do that no don’t tell me you know who it is it’s your little fell fell little fell all right here’s your other trivia question what year was it in O okay you got me on that one 93 oh I was there I was still there that is the only other time you’ve seen ad Detroit Line’s running back be that productive in scrimmage yards wow I know Danny it’s just unbelievable like I say we talk about armar rod and the record he’s breaking but you look at jir you look at David Montgomery and the records they they are breaking especially with a franchise that had the great Barry Sanders here this just unbelievable what these guys are doing MH there was a trio of receivers that might switch people up a little bit it’s not the typical three receivers that we’re used to seeing that really got things going there were no receiving touchdowns here today that means amanra St Browns eight receiving touchdowns in straight games has been crushed which actually does really uh Crush my heart there but you have Alan Ross St Brown six catches on the day 62 yards tin Patrick four catches for 50 55 yards rather he keeps showing up in these games big with really big explosive catches and then you have Jameson Williams nothing new five catches 64 receiving yards so we did get get to see any sellies from the these guys for the receiving touchdowns but they were helping those running backs Celebrate Three touchdowns today without a doubt Danny I think the biggest thing when you talk about Tim Patrick it’s not the volume it’s when he make these catches they are all big catches that he’s been making for us and of course the sun god amrod you you just count on him like the sun’s coming up tomorrow you can count on amrod and it’s great to see how they’re using J Mo getting him more involved in the game especially the short game cuz he’s a guy that can take it the distance Jared G went 26 of 36 today he is number one in the NFL for yards per pass attempt with 9.2 second in the NFL for 73% completion rate he took care of the ball today despite being sacked three times yeah I mean that that’s the only negative Danny I take away from him Not only was he sacked three times but he took numerous hits and you don’t want to see like you call them qb1 you don’t want to see them getting hit like that so again I know that’s something the offensive line going to take pride in and I know it’s something that they’ll clean up Colts had at least 17 pressures today so for to go in there still take care of the ball he finishes right at 72% completion he is one of the most consistent guys on this NFL team really is Dan I think in the league I mean he is playing quarterback at such a high level right now it’s not too many guys you could say playing better than Jared G right now so again we need that it’s been vital for us in these games and he consistently gives us Great Performances over the last 10 quarters Detroit Lions defense has not given up a touchdown two consecutive games without letting another team into their end zone that is impressive stuff from defensive coordinator Aaron Glen they did it today only allowed two field goals from that Colts defense it started up front Bar None with that group Danny you are so right the penetration that alen mcneel was getting DJ Rita was getting uh Levi anzer all those guys man they were getting great penetration up front and that made it I I hate to use the word easy but it made it easier for our linebackers and our guys in the secondary to do their job because of the pressure and how Stout these guys were against the run I mean they bar they they barely got past our line of scrimmage so that’s a tribute to coach Terrell Williams and like you say uh defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn having those guys in positions to have success that pressure up front didn’t result in any sacks it didn’t result in any takeaways but like you mentioned it did result in running back Jonathan Taylor only having 3 5 yard on 11 carries quarterback Anthony Richardson led the day on the ground for the Colts 10 carries for 61 yard taking a look at all of these lethal threats up front Josh Pascal three total tackles two assisted tackles alt together uh you have zidus Smith two QB hits so he’s he’s living up to why these Detroit Lions traded H for him on the deadline day and then DJ reer inside two QB hits and one tfl on the day those are some big time names that have all just jelled so well up front and you know who I’m going to give a lot of credit to is Zid Darius because I’m telling you man with the addition of a guy like that and just with his Spirit what he brings to the game and we know what he does on the field but what he’s doing off the field I really think he’s inspiring these guys and helping these guys take their game to the next level too the two Detroit Defenders were tied today in total tackles and it’s coming from that linebacker unit who really needed to step up today without Alex Zone he’s down with a broken forearm for 6 to 8 weeks so in comes Jack Campbell he gets the start with the Green Dot and his sidekick Malcolm Rodriguez steps up too Campbell eight total tackles on the day two passes defended to be honest he kind of kept the straight lines defense from capturing an INT uh but he got some fingers on the ball so we appreciate that we take a look at his stats he’s even getting it done on special teams he is growing and he is playing like a veteran right now right before our eyes Dan we’re seeing we’re seeing him grow right before our eyes and it’s so good to see and the biggest question for me last week when Alex went out was man are we going to put too much on uh Jack Campbell’s plate with him wearing the green dot guess what he answered that question D he said not at all you can add more to my plate I can handle it so he was great all game long filling the holes all game low making sure tackles on Jonathan teller he did it all today passes def it was great and he got that defense lined up where they needed to be lined up so kudos to Jack Campbell Campbell contined to answer questions post game including my answers I caught up with Jack Campbell after the game let’s hear what he had to say Jack this is the first game all season long that this defense hasn’t turned over another offense what did this team hang its hat on today yeah I just feel like we knew coming in it all started with ode discipline just effort uh the quarterbacks of a guy he can do it with his arm and his leg so just kind of focusing on your job and doing it every single playe I feel like we did a good job um I wish we would have got some turnovers I think we we got that one turnover on down I think but we’ll just keep working at that so this Detroit defense has been dinged up all season long two big contributors are down now in the linebacker room what gives you confidence to step up and take over that Green Dot role uh it’s honestly just the next man in and no excuses and that’s kind of what it’s been so and we just got a great room and a lot of guys that just push each other every single day and it’s been great so we are in week 12 and this Detroit team has not lost on the road yet what makes this team so comfortable in away stadiums take it one week at a time I feel like we don’t look too far ahead um and just again it’s we got a lot of individuals who just love the game and love to compete so thanks Jack congrats Jack Detroit still really comfy and imposing team stadiums undefeated on the road like I just mentioned there with Jack Campbell Campbell’s sidekick Malcolm Rodriguez he’s been through a lot in his NFL career coming out of the gates really hot everyone heard the name Rodrigo everywhere but then Detroit decided to load up that linebacker room they went and got Jack Campbell in the first round and then Rodrigo took the back seat to a unit that was the deepest on this Detroit Line’s team well he’s Happ having to step up into that number two linebacker role he’s doing a pretty dang good job he led all tacklers today along with Jack Campbell with eight so Danny give Brad Holmes credit cuz you have to bring in not only the right talent but the right character you have to bring in guys that are you that will be willing to take a back seat you know will’ll be willing to do whatever they can in any other role to help this team win and that’s what Malcolm Rodriguez has done since day one he hasn’t complained he’s accepted his roles even though has been reduced and he’s made the most out of it he’s done it on special teams he’s doing it now because he’s getting more playing time so kudos to again bringing in the right character people that you can do things like that cuz a lot of guys wouldn’t accept a lesser role but Malcolm did it and now he’s thriving so kudos to him too M Detroit Lions defense took another injury ding today Carlton Davis who was already working through a broken thumb he had a nice good siiz club on his hand that’s why and a ball bounced right off of his hand so he didn’t get to capture an INT today he was injured here late in the game offensively that side took even more dings Taylor Decker left the field at one point David Montgomery left with a shoulder injury he did not return and then colif fremond foot injury it did not look good on a punt return so almond Ross St Brown had to fill in for him and everyone holds their breath thank you is back there returning pun you oh my god look I don’t like the question things but I don’t like that one I just wish we could find somebody else to return the pun cuz we can’t lose him we just can’t lose am ra and you just never know it could be a freak okay we won’t talk about that so go ahead D you’re let’s talk about Jake Bates then that man is still perfect from field goals this season even when he’s backed up against the wall oh we missed them again yep we sure yep Dan Campbell reminding us that that’s win number 10 we’ll get this right one day you guys here’s Jake Bates his numbers on this season I mean today field goals made one that’s all he had to do 56 yards offense made a little tough on him today you know what I love about him he makes it look so easy Danny he’ll come out and get him one little practice kick and then he goes back there and he kicks it like it’s not anything I mean that was a 56 yd field goal that he kicked and it looked like if the net wouldn’t have been back there it would have win in the end zone in the stand so it’s just so great to see Jake Bak take advantage of his opportunity the guy’s been perfect all year long he’s done kickoffs he’s done everything you asked him to do so man again I’m so happy for Jake Bas and happy he’s found a home with us too Detroit Lions came in today with the number one points scored 336 over this entire season and the number one point differential that says a lot especially in the fact that they are scoring points and they are holding opponents to almost nothing in these games Danny I’ve been on two Super Bowl teams and that’s kind of the the ingredient that’s the secret ingredient when your offense goes out there and put up the points they need to and your defense stop teams I mean that point differential that tells you a lot about the team and that tells you a lot about where their team is going the rest of this year that’s amaz Jared golf we keep talking about him under a lot of pressure here today but he’s still delivering they were talking about taking him out of the MVP race he’s still in it right please yes I mean Danny who would you put I mean maybe Lamar maybe I he just lost to the P okay so right so we should be back in that pole position why not I mean the guy has been awesome best record in the NFC best record in the NFL or yeah tied with KC right now yeah exactly right so again why is he being talked about like all these other quarterbacks get talked about I think it’s unfair and I think he’s going to get his due he’ll get his he’s right there you should go tell him I should I should have walked on in there shouldn’t I okay no we’ll keep you out here Jared G qbw is standing by at the podium let’s hear what he has to say all right yeah they’re playing pretty dang good right now obviously uh what they’ve been doing the next last two games has been pretty impressive and um I think even going back to the Houston second half right like they’ve been I don’t think they have a lot of touchdown and pretty tough to do and they’re they’re playing good ball and uh they sure tighten up in the red zone and haven’t let anyone score in quite some time yeah yeah yeah he’s great he’s just a great ball player he just does does the right thing over and over and over again and yeah he’s a big body he’s got great hands he catches the ball away from his body so in traffic I trust him you know I know I can throw it in there and he’s going to go grab it and um had a few good ones today do I have thoughts on it not really I don’t know what they’re going to do yeah I thought he did fine today yeah we got two Bell cows and it’s rare you know we do we have we two guys that you can hand the ball to a ton and um like you said one of them goes down there for a little bit other guy steps up and it’ll happen you know both ways throughout the year so um we’re lucky to have both of them and and they do a hell job team yeah yeah well you I think in those situations we’re typically thinking that we’re going to go for it on fourth down anyway so um we’re feeling pretty confident they’re going to call one of their third down calls and our run should be pretty good and at the very least we’ll get into fourth and short and go for it so gives us a chance to do exactly what we did where you can pop a run for 15 plus yards and um yeah it’s rare to be able to do that and have two backs like I said that can kind of do thats that confidence to know you are when he calls that play I’m pretty sure now if we go negative and it’s a negative run we’ll kick a field goal but um when he when he calls a run in that situation I think we all kind of know all right we got two downs it becomes almost second and eight in our head instead of third and eight and um you know we just play like that huh yeah that’s a good point um no I I do think yeah we come together on the road we’re Road Warriors and Dan said it in there you know we he was talking about all the way back to um the first road game we won here which was at Chicago um in 22 I believe cuz we didn’t win one the whole first year and you know since then I think we’re he said we’re 16 and five since then which is you know so dang impressive and we are Road Warriors we love it we come together on the road we we are you know us against the world mentality and and then like you said it’s fun when we can get our own fans here and the way they show out it’s it’s really it’s really unbelievable they they do a hell of a job yeah it’s pretty dang cool on the road for for you know regardless of them doing you know my chant or anything like they’re they’re there it’s awesome to have a fan base that travels and makes a difference on the road and I I think I was thinking about this recently our fans don’t just go to the game like they go to the game to affect the game and certainly do that at home and then even today on the road you know and I go back to Houston you know in Arizona like they they show up to to change the game to affect the game and they take it on themselves and um we love it we love it but yeah the the the love they show me and the love they show our team is is uh something I I’ll never take for granted um yeah I’ll get i’ll get onto that tape pretty quickly um you know probably tonight and um get moving on them and our coaching staff will get some stuff together for us by tomorrow morning hopefully and um we’ll get moving yeah yeah yeah pretty cool really cool obviously like you said the turnaround has been been awesome and um we’re excited but by no means are we satisfied and complacent and um know what we’re doing is is good right now but you know got another big test uh this week against the division team at home and um you know I think we have this you know Thanksgiving thing where we haven’t wanted Thanksgiving in a while and that’s something we want to change yeah yeah there was was a little bit of chaos going on in the Huddle trying to figure out you know who was where um but yeah Ben called I think Ben called a screen which you know made it easy for the the backside of the play to kind of they knew what they were doing and then and then Skipper came in and we went on from there but yeah we’ve got our guys settled in nicely once that happened and um it was a little bit of chaos there for a second yeah
