lately it’s been mostly bad news for the Golden State Warriors now not necessarily in the win loss column they’re still 12 and4 and still near the top of the Western Conference but a couple of bad things have come up in the Golden State Warriors Clubhouse over the past couple of days but today we have a double dose of great news it’s concerning these two casts right here Jonathan kaminga and Andrew Wiggins we’re going to dive into all that on today’s show but before we do guys we are so close to 70,000 subscribers here on Warriors today 256 away can we get to 70k Subs on today’s video Got is lately Andrew Wiggins looks like he’s returned to form looking like that 2021 2022 self when the Golden State Warriors won the NBA Finals playing Elite defense hitting big time shots and scoring like the second option that he was pegged to be this offseason when Golden State didn’t go out and acquire a new second option I mean over the past couple of games Andrew Wiggins has been on an absolute tear the numbers that he puts up four consecutive games of 20 or more points he’s also doing a couple other things around the court he’s get he’s crashing the glass he’s finding open teammates he’s hitting his threes at the highest clip of his career and these last four games have been the longest streak of his Golden State Warriors career with 20o performances and man don’t these numbers look eerily similar to the ones that we saw back in 2021 22 and he’s doing it in less minutes per game less time and Andrew Wiggins is more efficient 41% from three-point range that’s an increase that’s a career high for Andrew Wiggins he’s shooting the ball at a at a total of 47.7% very very solid numbers he’s putting the the numbers up that he did when Golden State went on their Championship run he put the numbers up that guaranteed or sorry excuse me warranted a All-Star campaign an All-Star nod for Andrew Wiggins man this is what Golden State needs if they really want to contend in the Western Conference and it’s not like Wiggins is forcing anything you can see on the numbers if Wiggins was forcing stuff those efficiencies would be way down he’s letting the game come to him whether it be a three-pointer off the catch whether it be you know him driving on a Defender and taking him to the cup or necessarily kicking something out to an open three-point shooter or just getting the rebounds pushing the ball off floor and helping golden state within the flow of their offense he’s not forcing any thing he’s not trying to be the hero he’s letting the game come to him and it’s paying dividends he looks like an Allstar this season he looks like he could be back on the All-Star roster like he was two seasons ago I don’t know what do you guys think we’ll dive into right here go down below in the comment section answer answer today’s pin comment so Wiggins this season his biggest you know basically positive to this Golden State Warriors roster is that he is fed into go what Steve cerr has been preaching all season long get up a high volume of threes and hit a high percentage of Threes And he’s done just that off the catch this season which is where he gets the majority of his three-point attempts he’s been unbelievable nearly 45% from Deep range off the catch from Andrew Wiggins above the break which is honestly where the best three-point Shooters take their shots from right guys Andrew Wiggins a couple seasons ago he was kind of sitting in the corner for the vast majority of his attempts this season he’s taking his shots above the break 25 of 59 42% from that area step back three percentages this is a very small sample size but this is something Andrew Wiggins can do off the bounce now as well step back threes he’s shooting 43% three of seven I know very small sample size but so is his Corner three-point uh three-pointers he’s not really taking as many of those as we’ve seen in the past only four for 12 so that’s very small sample size I’m not going to take too much into that number as well as the step back three number but what’s interesting here is the mid-range isn’t that good I’ll take that honestly if if if Andrew wiggin finds that to be an inefficient shot for himself it’s an inefficient shot for everybody thre’s worth more than two the NBA has become a math problem and Andrew Wiggins is solving it for these Golden State Warriors and it’s not just on the offensive end Andrew Wiggins is back on his bully defensively too think about what happened in the 2022 NBA Finals who gets the most criticism for that series for losing it Jason Tatum who is the primary defender on Jason Tatum for a large portion of that series it was Andrew Wiggins and he continues to be that guy for the Golden State Warriors I mean the when he’s matching up on an opponent they’re not necessarily going to be lights out right Andrew Wiggins is going to be a inyour face on the ball swatting at the ball Defender and when his opponents are shooting the ball the numbers are solid the numbers aren’t necessarily anything you like jumping off the screen as far as we go if we go Zone by Zone here less than 8 feet 55% fat League average 8 to 16 ft 40% it’s pretty good actually uh 16 to 24% 45 you want to see that a little bit lower but I’m not taking too much into these numbers it’s been a pretty you know pretty short season so far Golden State’s only 16 games in about a fifth of the way through so it’s very very early on these numbers can come down but he’s getting a stealing a block of game he’s getting his hands dirty creating turnovers turning defense into offense and deflections per game he’s got a got a deflection per game as well so he’s doing very solid but if you want a little bit more of a microcosm of what Andrew wiggins’s value is in the defensive end he gets stuck on the opposing team’s best Wing every single night he’s the starting small forward for this team he’s going to be on the best Wing offensively the other team’s got and back in that NBA Cup game against Luca donic in that fourth quarter he held Luca to zero points 0 of three from the field and 0 0 of two from deep in the fourth quarter of that game when it really mattered and when Luka shines the brightest on national TV is in the fourth quarter Andrew Wiggins bowled him up he said you’re not getting any of that on me Luka did score in that fourth quarter but it wasn’t on Wiggins shout out to my guy Terry wor with the stats right there I’ll be honest with you guys I was kind of out on Andrew Wiggins heading into the season I wrote him off after this past year because to be honest did he kind of Warrant it yes the 2022 23 season and the 2023 24 season were not wiggins’s best let’s all be honest now to be fair he was going through a lot of personal struggles father passed away and it it is it is amazing that Andrew Wiggins has been able to come back from that and be the player that he was three seasons ago but I’ll I’ll admit I rode him off I did not think he was going to be this player and I did not trust him to be the number two scoring option on this Golden State Warriors team but that’s why I don’t work in the Golden State Warriors front office shout out to the staff for never losing faith shout out to Steve Kerr for heading into the season with being okay Andrew Wiggins is going to be our primary or excuse me secondary score after Stephen Curry when Steph’s not on the floor Wiggins is who we’re running the offense through that’s awesome man and and and it’s it’s so refreshing to see this version of Wiggins back because when he was this type of player golden state was in real Championship contention and they look to be in real Championship contention this season I love what I’ve seen from wigs can’t wait to see more hopefully he has another outstanding effort against the Brooklyn Nets tonight and it keeps the ball rolling hopefully he becomes that 20 point per game score that Golden State needs this season right now he’s at 17 but man he’s on a tear right now and uh I don’t think he’s going to slow down anytime soon he’s on fire but next up the back half of today’s show we got the part right here this is not the great news this is not the great news this is actually bad news that Jonathan kaminga unfortunately missed the last game the lost to the San Antonio Spurs which inexcusable loss for Golden State but we move on we move forward it’s a game in November we can’t get that stressed over it the great news however is what Steve Kerr had to say about jonath the Kinga he missed that game with an illness but Steve Kerr said I think he’s fine he just felt sick right before the game so this is fantastic good to know that Jonathan kaminga will not be missing extended time could he miss tonight’s game maybe but it’s good to know that Jonathan kaminga doesn’t seem to be sidelined for a long period of time it’s very weird what’s going on with all these illnesses in the Warriors roster Brandon P jsky Kavon Looney now Jonathan kaminga seems like a bugs going throughout the Warriors Clubhouse they need to get that patched up real quick but shout out to Anthony Slater who gave us a little bit of an update on jonath the kaminga earlier uh yesterday and said jonath the kaminga is questionable for the Warriors not tonight against the Nets with an illness that forced him out of the game in San Antonio the previous night H that’s not great but he’s questionable they’re going to try to work him back this is this is something they don’t want to rush back into especially with what they’ve seen from Brandon psky you know not necessarily he’s coming back playing through fatigue and he’s not necessarily being the most productive version of himself and kind of same with Kavon Looney but the good thing about kaminga so far this season is in the new role that he’s got he’s coming off the bench and he’s just done everything asked for him asked of him excuse me this season heading into the year he’s expecting the contract and all that stuff and expected to be a max player next thing you know he has a really rough first couple of outings of the season when you know golden state ran a lineup that wasn’t necessarily conducive to what Jonathan kinga’s positives are on the basketball court and his numbers have kind of suffered because of those games but now he’s coming off the bench and he’s playing in that little dunker spot roll where he’s cutting from the corners he’s hitting catch and shoot threes and he’s playing good defense on other Wings let’s be honest these numbers that you see on your screen right now they’re not good for Jonathan Kinga compared to what we saw last year uh the big jump to 16 points per game 17 points per game we haven’t seen that jump up more to 20 points per game like we thought we would this season to where he could potentially be an All-Star that’s actually looking like Andrew Wiggins now on this Golden State Warriors roster and man that three-point percentage it’s just not good man uh jonath k we thought he was going to be an improved outside shooter this year but we just haven’t seen it this so far and to be fair three-point shooting has not necessarily been his role so far this year he’s been a guy who’s crashed the offensive glass he’s been a guy who is cutting from that weak side corner and finding somebody off a dump off pass to go up there and make a highlight slam that’s what Jonathan kinga’s role has been so far this season he’s he’s been a slasher he’s been a guy who can kind of put his shoulder weight into people down low and force a layup up and in he’s been solid so far this year but he also hasn’t been that player that was demanding a Max contract before the start of the season the Warriors are probably right to not pay him that money at this point maybe that’s a little bit of piece of great news maybe add that to the triple dose of great news that the Warriors did not uh end up extending jonath the kaminga and that’s that’s the kind of the reality of it right he’s been great in his role this year but he likely will not earn the money that he was commanding before the season began and he likely won’t earn the money that that golden state was willing to pay him before the season started is Jonathan kaminga going get 35 Plus million a year putting out the numbers in the production that he does right now he has he is not trusted to facilitate offense he’s not trusted with the ball in his hands uh for long stretches at least not trusted to create for himself because he just doesn’t do all those things all that well but in this role in this quasi Aaron Gordon type of role is what I like to compare it to he is worth the money he is worth having on your roster cuz guys teams need those guys on their rosters team think the Nuggets would be as successful if they didn’t have Aaron Gordon on the squad right now no they would not John the kaminga can still make a ton of money playing the way that he does right now but let’s be honest he can make a lot more money if he expanded his repertoire of skills a little bit more and really improve that outside shot which just needs to be improved especially for a Golden State Warriors team that you know wants to shoot threes and they want to shoot a lot of them now keep in mind this is probably not going to happen let’s be honest they didn’t want to trade him for Paul George this off season might have been a good move Paul George has been very unhealthy so far to be fair though one for one if we if we go back and do that deal I’m still doing it also was passed on for Laura Markin to be fair reports were that the Jazz didn’t want La uh didn’t want Jonathan kaminga still golden state was not willing to give him up for either of those two players keep in mind though they did not extend him therefore he still trade eligible this season could a deal come up about for a guy like Jimmy Butler where Jon the kaminga needs to be in that deal maybe so maybe so but Golden State could also resign him this offseason it might cost a pretty penny though let me know what you guys think down in the
