hello and a warm welcome to Robins TV extra time as Bristol City traveled to hartfordshire to face the Watford side that were unbeaten at home since the start of the Season tall Order full Bristol City but by the end of the game we were scratching our heads as to how they haven’t come away with at least a point in hartfordshire here alongside me to look back at the action is Louis Kerry Lewis uh as I said we were left scratching our head as to how Bristol City have come away with absolutely nothing uh against Watford a game in which Watford offered very little actually it kind of surprised us that they got to this point in the season and we’re doing so well at home yeah I was I was really surprised at their um their lack of energy and their lack of quality and really surprised that they were in the you know the top five of the championship at the moment and I was really interested to see how and why um but on the evening really disappointed however I think a lot of that disappointment was down to Bristol City’s you know really good start to the game um I thought they had excellent energy Gates the ball counter press really well after losing the ball and we’re also um really composed confident in building and getting ourselves from you know defensive part of the pitch to The attacking part of the pitch with ease really absolutely well let’s look at the the key stats from the game and it will be a well it’s a it shows you really what you need to know in terms of possession total shots shots on target Bristol City by far far uh the more dominant side more corners jewes one as well uh but ultimately you know it only takes one bit of quality and that was the bit of quality that Bristol city were were missing that actually separates the two teams yeah CU I think total shot shots on target that that was the that was the key part you know to have 19 sort of shots and and well I suppose is that 14 just off Target or On Target you know whatever way around they do it but to to have an expected is just 0.5 um you know is isn’t good enough really for the situations and the and the quality of eras they got in on the pitch but also for the volume of possession they had and like I said with with how um they mve through the thirs with such ease really disappointing that Bristol City W more clinical uh in front of go but let’s first of all focus on the back three we spoke about Liam Manning’s preference now for a back five including those Wing backs which were occupied tonight by camping and you here a cow but it’s the back three we’ve been talking about Zack Viner Rob Dicky and Luke MCN and here’s a bit of analysis as to where they’re perhaps finding life quite comfortable at the back I’d say at the moment I mean I know we’ve not picked up a clean sheet tonight but the three of them both in terms of their stature ability and and kind of relationship at the moment seemed to be jelling really nicely yeah I think they’re building a really nice relationship you know any any long ball it was dealt with really well any sort of situation where they were left one V one use their bodies well covered each other really well like Zach did there so it always felt like BR City had the extra player um at the back so here keeping keeping them wide defend the middle of the goal Wing backs recovering in so all of a sudden there’s numbers in the box and that was one of the reasons why Watford couldn’t create any clear-cut chances or or anything of um of sort to make Bristol City feel stressed I think that’s probably one of the reasons they’ll be so disappointed but there Wing backs recovering um you know being part of the team understanding their part of the defensive unit again here One V ons it was just really really comfortable all evening um at times when Watford had the ball in front of them um in these areas I thought that’s where they were um where they were where they were decent at times but any anything where the ball was kick long or any counter attacks you know brist City back three were really really comfortable and a building really good relationship between each other Rob Atkinson of course trying to force his way back into the side picked up some minutes for the under 21s uh but he’s going to find life difficult to get back in with those three being very fit at the moment and of course over the last probably uh few years you’ve seen the emergence of Zack Viner as well he’s now probably the first player on the team Sheet to some degree he’s come on Leaps and Bounds as a footballer what what do you make of him as a as a kind of complete footballer now and playing on the right side of that three I think a manager wants to pick anybody who’s consistent yeah you know and he’s really consistent with regards to staying fit looks after him himself always looks in great shape um physically you know he can run he can run all day as in like um endurance and with regards to his intense movements he he he can do those so he’s very much the you know the modern player and then with the way the manager wants to play he can pass and he can move the ball um the other part was now could he build a relationship or connection with somebody to start creating clean sheets or stop shipping as many chances as they were and um it looks like in the last sort of 6 seven8 games um they’ve done that absolutely a real positive for Bristol city right let’s turn our attention to Midfield now Anis mimti had an an interesting night he’s as frustrating at times as he is brilliant um in front of goal and we spoke at length and you spoke Lewis to to Alex earlier on on the Robbins TV show throughout the commentary as well decision making at times is is something we feel as though he needs to work on yeah because part of the reason he would be in the team is because of his energy um he runs forward whenever you get a player who can run beyond the opposition defensive line um you want to pick these players because they’re willing however tonight what impressed me was how he found space in these sort of areas so in this instance you know found space makes a Defender jump and then made a little sliit pass in the previous clip didn’t quite make it so that’s where his decision making at times is um you know is really random however he shown that you touched on it the were Brilliance that’s a brilliant bit of play little little reverse pass little bit of Disguise on it nice weight on it and then probably from Naki well there that might be a OneTouch right foot finish or a better left footed touch but here again anytime you run run Beyond you cause problems bring the ball to the floor lovely technique and then it was the timing of the layoff so the timing of the layoff is too late there um so that’s where we say you want him in a team because of all the threats that he causes and all you want is or all you would like to see is some kind of improvement with regards to M product however these sort of situations I understand why he’s shot he’s shot because teammate’s got to make his decision for him and his decision for him if somebody runs here across the penalty spot there’s three in the box there somebody runs across the penalty shot uh pot spot sorry one on the second post and one on the edge of the box at least he would say he’d have somebody to pick out or somebody to make a decision for him and the reason he didn’t shoot uh the reason he shot sorry is because nobody was um you know nobody was in his ey line to make that run yeah really interesting and reflecting on the last couple of weeks with Bristol City we feel like we’ve been on the wrong side of results at times largely at times down to to poor luck of course the Sheffield United game there was a bit of an error which then turned into well the error was then compounded of course with Rob Dicky’s sending off and then Burnley on Saturday with the with the contentious hand ball decision which didn’t go Bristol City’s way and again you felt as though luck wasn’t quite on City’s side tonight and maybe that’s down to to goalkeeping Brilliance as we’ll see now with this Daniel Barkman goal straight off the uh the line uh save just off the line I should say but yeah just at times you felt PR City didn’t get rid of the rub of the green no the keepers made two unbelievable saves um but they’re both reactive saves and for all the good situations they got themselves in yeah we would say they didn’t create enough good chances however these sort of what we call half chances or you know reactive CH is keeper done incredibly well and like you touched on to win games it can’t just be down to Quality and so on and so on and hard work sometimes it is down to luck um and fortunate for Watford here the luck was on their side and and not so um lucky for Bristol City unfortun sure there’ll be a few Watford fans going home surely tonight thinking how on Earth have we picked up three points uh tale of Bristol City at times when we go away from home and and complimented by the home fans quite often for performance levels uh which makes it the more painful I I suggest uh let’s look at the Watford goal uh which was a fine finish you have to say against the Run of play uh a fine strike from the fullback and uh I think we’ve got a clip of it just now yet we do um again it was against the Runner play but a bit a bit of quality on the edge of the Box could we be doing more here defensively leis well it was individual Brilliance to start with to change the you know sides as in I think brist City You’ seen shoot him from those areas where they whereas Watford moved the ball really well and the strike is incredible to send it outside the goalkeeper and bring it back around but right at the start of the clip would probably be the one area that the managers a little bit disappointed at um so the ball’s dropped in the middle of the pitch there’s just been a little dangly foot to poke the ball away rather than no go on somebody make a challenge um once the ball gets switched to Andrews could prin probably get a little bit quicker now he’s coming across the pitch so you end up opening your legs and generally the balls always go through the defender’s legs so they’re wary however if you can come out and face him up and create as big a shadow as you can there’s no chance that he can score yeah absolutely right well we’ve not seen enough of this side of Scott twine so far you’d have to say albeit there have been injuries during his s of second spell with Bristol City if you like this season uh but we thought we were potentially walking away with a point when we saw this effort on goal dipping at the last second to clatter against the uh the crossbar it was a fine effort and sort of typical of um tycal of Scott twine this is the buildup just before the the effort on goal but you know he’s he’s a classy player isn’t he yeah so if you notice in all of these clips he was Finding space really really well and he was looking to make something happen so a minute ago with the through ball um here with a shot whether the shot’s on or not he’s trying to make something happen at the moment um playing little balls around the corner again finding space head turning and this one what they call the old knuckle ball isn’t it with the you know the foot the toes pointing to the ground and coming up under the bottom of the board to try and bring it up over the defense and over the goalkeeper was an incredible strike and um when he first hit that you know I thought it was going in Rosette but to have the the quality and ability to get as much dip on the ball as he got there was um was an excellent strike and that’s you know that’s down to his own individual um excellent technique however he was the only sub really who come on the pitch and really made an impact in the game and really tried to make things happen and I think that the um you know Liam manag uh Liam man sorry the manager would be probably most disappointed in one the reaction after Watford scored and two that the um Subs haven’t quite come on the pitch and impacted the game as much as he would have liked yeah and it’s interesting because the I recall the Preston game the subs came on MCU being one of them in fact and had such an impact and surely that sort of demonstrates to the the players that are on the bench that you can come on in a game orbe it with 10 minutes left and you can really have a positive impact on the game but it did feel as though they were sort of passengers at times a couple of the players yeah very much so your role Your Role when you are a sub is of course you want to be in the starting team but your role is to be a teammate and your your role is to come on and impact the game whether that’s um you know with the ball or against the ball um and unfortunately the the the boys that come on didn’t quite didn’t quite do that today apart from um twine yeah not to be uh in the end of course moving into Plymouth uh on Saturday who were off came off the back of a pretty poor result against Norwich be interesting to see how that one goes and if leam Manning side can uh break them down quickly at Ashton gate Lewis thank you very much for not only joining us on Robins TV but also on Robins TV extra time a pleasure to have you with us thank you thank you very much uh leis so all of the action uh on Robins TV for the game against Plymouth will be available from 2:30 on Saturday for selected audiences but of course that is it from us here on Robbins TV extra time not the result we wanted against Watford but hopefully Bristol City can bounce back uh very quickly thank you for joining us [Applause] [Music]
