and I have to say it’s been uh so far a very painful season for uh all of us uh Roma fans [Music] hi my name is Antonio Gabrielle I’m the founder of is Roma data a social media account that post statistics and data about is Roma don’t forget to follow us on any social media you may like and you may feel more comfortable with from Twitter to Instagram Facebook threats whatever you may like so thanks Chris for having me here talking about ice Roma and the match against Tottenham that’s coming very soon this week so I start from your qu first question is about what I think about Roma season so far and I have to say it’s been uh so far a very painful season season for uh all of us uh Roma fans uh we went into the season with a lot of expectations um Following last season uh after the sacking of Mourinho we had a spark of enthusias with the appointment of Daniel de Roi uh that as you may all know is a is an absolute Legend in Rome unfortunately despite a strong end of the season we didn’t manage to qualify to Champions League uh but we went into the season with a lot of expectations uh and after a summer campaign with a lot of highs and uh some lows we were all confident the team could challenge Champions League qualification this year unfortunately the start of the season has been quite bad but not as bad as it turned out on uh September 18 when uh the fre King the owners of as Roma uh decided to sack the rosi without any any sign of this coming and well the whole city of Rome went in shock and uh what made uh mothers Wars was the appointment of a a modest coach as uh Ian Urich whose main achievement until there has been uh has been reaching mid-table positions with modest teams of course things went from bad to worse and uh despite a decent start with Urich the team went into a spiraling crisis which led to the sacking of Urich again in November so we’re now with the third coach in the season fourth of the calendar year and we are here with the appointment of Ranieri trying to save a season that so far has been absolutely dramatic if I go to your second question well basically we’re talking about CL Raneri another Legend he’s been um he just retired from football after achieving an incredible um an incredible safety with Kary in the past season one of the worst team of the entire Sera which he led to a very a very comfortable uh uh safe safety in uh in Syria uh he retied at the end of the year uh with a caveat that he would return to football only for two teams one of these being Roma the other one being CER unfortunately the situations LED Raneri to being called As A Savior by the FR kin and the general wisdom in uh in the fun base is that he was the only potential and possible appointment among the various names uh that circulated after the sacking of Evan yurich the reason for this is that Raneri is known to be a coach that usually achieve the results that are in the in in the power of the team he’s not an overachiever well leer leer season excluded of course and rarely he underperforms so in a situation of absolute chaos uh in Rome we needed normality and Raneri is a coach perhaps the only one that can brings normality to this team so so far we are uh well we just had a match with him we lost to Napoli who’s um leading the Sera table a 1 nil uh defeat which was not the best of the starts but we hope that rier will lead us uh to a safe uh safe season with expectations are pretty low at the moment and uh sadly I have to say that for Roma fun base the only objective at the moment is to to avoid relegation which is something I would have never expected to say 3 months ago so with this confidence with this low confidence level uh the fund Bas is uh traveling to London to support the team as always despite a low confidence despite very little hopes to to scrap a results in uh in tottenham’s field uh will the the a away fans area of Roma fans will be full of uh of supporters as it always been for Roma uh across these years uh in Europe so um going from from B to worse we can also talk about Roma Europa League campaign so far another painful part of the Season uh you know Roma has been a strongest possibly the strongest team in uh in Italy in Europe in the in the past 5 years achieving to finals and uh and two semi-finals in the past 5 years so we’ve built uh quite a good reputation in uh in European campaigns unfortunately this season uh doesn’t look to be the same uh we started with a decent game uh against atletic bilbow the second when when yurich was in charge but we we wasted the victory in the last minutes considering a a silly a silly goal to the Spanish to the to the Basque I should say um second second match in Europa League has been absolutely dramatic Roma lost a rotated team uh of Roma lost uh against elorg without basically creating any any chance to to draw the match or even uh even score a goal uh an absolutely an absolute disaster of um a performance for Roma which made the campaign uh pretty uh in in a pretty dangerous situation uh the third match uh likely was a was a win against Dam KV a very very Scrappy win a 1 nil uh with a penalty of dop but a team a match played absolutely uh bad by R and I have to say we just won by by means of being a better team of dinok KV which is probably one of the worst team in the competition the last match we played was against Union sanjas against another again another modest performance by Roma which again uh wasted a victory uh considering uh yet another header in the D minutes of the match after uh after being in a leading position for most of the second half so we are in um not in a good position we are still among the teams that are qualified at the moment but uh very far from being uh from being qualified among the first eight positions and at the moment the situation doesn’t look uh very bright possibly Roma will be qualified at the end of this campaign but the expectations even is in this and competition were much higher and uh being ranked first among the 36 teams uh the fan base was hopeful to be qualified among the the eight teams this will lead to complications in February uh giving uh giving the team two yet two more matches to play and uh making the the team suffering once again from the very congested calendar about Tottenham I have to say well we see some similarities usually between Tottenham and Rome and roma uh both teams from the capital both teams uh with a with a pretty empty cabinet uh trophy cabinet uh teams that are well widely supported they have a very passionate fan base but they are very often dis appointing the front base with uh um unlucky performances or with objectives that are wasted in uh in the last matches of the seasons so far this season uh I have to say um Tottenham from what we have seen uh is doing pretty well in uh in Europa League you’re with nine points in four matches you’re are a well on course to be qualified among the first eight teams but you have been a bit delusional in uh in Premier League uh well it’s a bit ironic to say this after your absolutely shocking Victory against Manchester City this weekend but this is uh a little bit the photography of the season and possibly of how Tottenham is perceived uh outside England a team uh capable of doing um and putting down amazing performances against the strongest teams in the world but at the same time uh capable to to lose and um and waste points against uh minor teams in uh in the competition and I’m thinking about a silly defeat like the one against Crystal Palace so all in all we think you you might be better in the in the table in Premier League and now we wish you all the best for the continuation of the season I have to say I don’t have a very a very strong um a very strong favorite for this competition I for eura League I I think the new format is uh is pretty peculiar so we don’t it’s pretty it’s pretty difficult at this stage to to say who who will be in a strong position in uh in Spring to win the competition uh before the start of the Season we thought Roma could be one of the of the major candidates to the to the victory uh at the same time I believe uh Tottenham is certainly one of the strongest candidate to win the competition uh athletic Bilbo is another team that can do very well as long as uh they don’t uh Focus too much on uh on LA and I have to say um probably also Manchester United is a team that can uh that that can do very well in uh in Europa League but we will be able to say much more after the first the first knockout uh games once we we have uh much less teams in uh in the in the league so about um your next question is uh what sort of game we expect on Thursday and how Aroma will set up tactically well I believe that raner is usually a very versatile um coach so against Napoli we’ve seen a team lining up with a four 451 formation in the first half uh that was switched to a 352 or 532 uh just after the break uh and this has been a constant uh throughout his whole career he has been uh a coach capable to adapt his tactics to the to the players he has available I think against Tottenham I I I suppose we will go with a 442 formation there’s not so much to rotate in defense the men are more or less those that we that we saw against Napoli so I would expect SAR in goal uh zi chelik on the right back angelinho on the left back and a pair of uh Central Defenders uh with manini and uh Ian DEA uh in Midfield I believe we will see again uh stepan El sharawi on the right back on the right on the right wing uh possibly there would be a rotation in Midfield uh with Eno Lei uh who could see uh a starting a starting position uh instead of uh Brian christante there’s no chance that manuk con will be benched he’s absolutely our best player from the beginning of the season and he’s rocking in uh in Midfield and on the left wing we may either see uh Nicolo pil um a graduate from Roma Academy who’s doing pretty well in the beginning of this season or we could see Loreno belini playing in um in a false left wing position and up front depending on the on the the condition of dybala we might either see dybala ping with a dove pick or in case dybala is not available that’s one of the major question mark of Roma season uh we may see valansi lining up with doik I do expect Roma to play a pretty defensive match I don’t think we’ll uh we will play offensive football from the beginning I expect Tottenham to start strong and um and put their foot in uh well put a strong strong statement since the beginning of the of the match possibly Roma will will be suffering a lot especially in the first minutes and they have to be able to to survive the first 20 minutes then a different match could uh could unveil and with that I well I think I answer a little bit uh your other question about the stand out players for Roma well looking at the lineup we I think you should worry mainly about our two Strikers um art and doik who came out as a as a top scorer in La Liga last season and uh is performing pretty well with Roma so far he’s our main attacking threat then the biggest question mark for Roma is um is the health of dybala is an absolutely amazing player when fit but um the difficulty that we have seen throughout these three seasons uh and well that’s been let’s say a constant throughout his career has been uh his physical condition there was just an article uh today uh mentioning that uh dybala has played basically just 50% of the matches since uh he was um he was um High by as Roma so if the Bal is in condition is a is a player that can change the match with a single in a single moment so absolutely a player to worry about for the opponents but if I have to name one player that’s been the best performer of Roma this season has been uh without any doubt manuk K he’s a very Dynamic uh midfielder we have seen him playing uh amazingly also with his national team against Italy in uh in the in the international break he has been very very Dynamic uh very present in the matches and one of the few bright spots of Roma in this in this terrible start of the Season well I think I gave you already our expected lineup and uh as hard as it’s uh score prediction mine is more a hope uh I think we will we will be very happy if we can and if we come out of uh of this match with a throw without a defeat not so much for the Europa League campaign but to build the morale of this team have to say the morale of the of the players at this moment is at the bottom and coming out from from the match against Tottenham with a draw it would be it would be already a big Improvement so my prediction and hope is uh 1-1
