Carolina well and you’ve got to give both these coaches credit that they’re willing to schedule each other early in the season a top five matchup and the fans love it and of course South Carolina going to face number eight Iowa State coming up next it doesn’t get any easier kids didn’t get the put back that’s one that would typically drop that extra effort just not able to capitalize but the competition has been good on both sides but this one no doubt the toughest for both but right now London Jones feeling it from both Wings pass ahead Johnson shot is good Tessa Johnson the sophomore three for three shooting seven of the 10 points for South Carolina going Tessa Johnson now the three-point shot is the she’s not going to stop shooting well and I do think that she’s playing through a face mask and a broken nose and that affects your shooting and vision she made 87 threes last year and so very small sample size with her you know she’s going to heat up and guess what she’s getting hot right now when you were talking about that personal face mask before she got that made she had to use just kind of a generic one that had a little bit of a longer nose on it and so she shoots close to her face she kept fitting the face mask and that is going to affect things she’s just thrilled that she’s got this personalized one now so she can see peripher I think some people think about yes you can’t shoot it clogs up it fogs up rather but it’s also when you’re on defense trying to deny the wing you can’t see peripherally it it it it it’s something that you have to learn to deal with but she says this mask is helping not fun but she will deal with it better to be able to play than not as this clock is whing down first quarter about to end bets from behind gets a piece of that and show as the point guard for the top five team in America went over to Paris was able to be effective enough for her team to beat top 20 Louisville she’s been tested early rocker composure good look across the lane the Finish By Watkins and get the assist to Joyce Edwards Donald D American a player that can play the three or the four he definitely does not play like a first year player like a desperation shot at a shot clock buzzer cuz they will rebound and run almost like you’d rather have a shot clock violation at times see they can get something out of it they yet to score off of their turnovers forced Paul on the drive just short how about Johnson Scrappy play on the Baseline and now another offensive rebound the kick out Johnson how about another for her Tessa Johnson liting it up her jumper is really pretty perfect behind the AR such an X Factor dro into the net lots of arch side and South Carolina South Carolina has needed every single one of them as they have yet to really ofer can’t lead the ball Aros solo makes some pay this UCLA team was in the sweet 16 a year ago and they have added so many quality pieces they lost Charisma Osborne of course to the WNBA but boy this little freshman out of Finland Samia Gardner from Oregon State janah Parker from Texas A&M Johnson defense loster shot won’t drop though Barker tracks Down The Long rebound and that’s the thing even with South Carolina kind of having so much back from a season ago really cardoso the big Miss from a season ago for them but it’s still a new season new rols oh Tam Mia Gardner you don’t want her to get hot out there up you’re South Carolina that is the go-to UCLA play and that is nearly impossible you have to bring pressure to Lauren bets she turns at 67 se’s over the defense and the 63 shooter Gardner was ready her first points of the game three and the double team has to come to Lauren vetts you just cannot leave guard first point of the game s to run for the Bruins and the reverse just won’t fall for Edwards again another shot that typically I would say Edwards is going to finish [Music] on just under four minutes left this first half it’s been all UCLA their largest lead of the ball [Applause] game The Rim catches no backb Johnson brings it up M McDaniel back in UCLA just clogging up that paint defensively curl and hit it gree Hall with the outside bucket and they’re going to need a lot more of that outside shooting if it can go it’ll loosen up that defense you want to make Moren bets leave the key so you can get into the lane her first points the game but not the first points for London Jones perfect three for three behind the ark for Jones it’s just so hard because when you’ve got Shooters outside London Jones and Tama Gardner it puts a tremendous amount of pressure Daniel hanging on the shot won’t fall though T break for Matty McDaniel I think for South Carolina that London Jones answer three after the Brie Hall triple and just tookes a little takes a little wind out of their sails Aros solo blazing by the defense boy the lane just opened up Carolina trying to push the lane opened up you have to extend get pressure well beyond the three-point line especially when uccla shooting it like they have so far this afternoon and driving lanes are open bre in shooting 60% this quarter 52% for the game and just 27% for South Carolina on the game finish there from Watkins though they chip away at the deficit on a solo another three ball for UCLA the sixth of the game they average eight per game this crowd is lited well not just the six of the game six of nine they are absolutely ruing dripping the Nets against this vaunted South Carolina defense Don Staley talked about wanting patience on the offensive end be patient on your shot selection Johnson shot just won’t drop remember this is a team that is The Undefeated national champ from last year a 43 game win streak and right now they are in a deep hole on the road two test as bets gets her outside shot to fall adds to her totals now with three yeah just the first bucket of the game for bets and yet UCLA proving they are much more than just Lauren bets yeah balanced attack for UCLA almost everybody has scored that’s been out there under a minute left in this first half Daniel needs some help here’s Edwards left wing just short South Carolina just looked a bit flat and a little short on all their shots this first half well and I think give credit to that UCLA defense when you have a presence like Moren bets waiting for you in the lane it’s just like Camila korso was last year for South Carolina you hesitate just a little bit because of that presence yeah she makes a change what you’re doing out there Garder or excuse me Barker on the left corner just misses bigs for UCLA are able to extend things out everybody great hands good passers capable of shooting the three High post shot Off the Mark for Hall r a solo going to push three on two early shot South Carolina could have waited and make sure UCLA did not have another crack at it shot clock game clock down Barker has to take it oh and that one had a good look but will not fall and that’s going to do it for the first half of
