with us to break this down um I think a decent draw for North Carolina but Dayton is certainly no pushover they’ve already beaten Northwestern the season coming into this game with 5-0 record GNA be a really fun game let’s start though W with the tar Hills Riley what are you hoping to see from hbert davis’ Squad in their first game in Maui fast start much like they did against Hawaii I thought the way that they began that game they were playing really good defense they were connected they were communicating with one another sort of wavered throughout the game there were times in the second half Carolina build a near 20-point lead got lazy on their communication when it came to guarding Hawaii just running various like pin down actions um some off ball screens that led to some open threes can’t mess around with that with Dayton um even mental lapses even if you build a build a big lead like Dayton’s been one of the better mid majors of over the past half decade so um yeah I’m looking for a fast start to keep the for them to keep that defensive focus and also to stay out of foul trouble that’s another big thing is just against Hawaii in the first half and this really was the key against Kansas as well um if you go back to the first week of the Season as soon as Jaylen Washington picked up his second foul it just seems like they can they can hold their own with the like a VIN Allen lubben and Jaylen withers’s front court for a spurt but if you spend too much time with that they they the size Advantage just gets exposed um Elliot CAU picked up two fouls against Hawaii as well and I think he’s he’s leading the team in uh the BPR the the Evan Mia basian performance ranking I think he’s kind of leading them it’s not particularly it might not even be particularly close to I think with RJ Davis with the second highest he’s just been so important to this team on both ends of the floor and they they’re going to need him for pretty much 30 at least 30 minutes in in every game in this tournament yeah it’s an it’s an advantage for North Carolina in this game you know Dayton’s got experience down low Zed key MH you remember him from Ohio State going to be big down there but he’s six eight like there’s not a lot of size that Dayton runs with so Washington has a chance to make a statement North Carolina 2 hasn’t turned the ball over ever we know how good their guards are the depth of scoring I think is coming along but if you’re looking at things from the Dayton side of things what do you think has to happen for the Flyers to pull the upset I would look for them to try to make it ugly like they did against Northwestern when they stole that game um I believe they they forced Northwestern into 16 turnovers that game and and Northwestern had a a lead late that they uh they ended up just like kind of choking it to where Dayton took over um late second half believe they were they were down by as many as 10 in the second half and flipped that game on its head with the with their defense um and that’s what they have the ability to do I mean they they they have in addition to to to zed key they also have a French kid who’s 71 I’m not even going to attempt to say his name I’m well yeah I will a male Laten who they can throw some size out there to bother Carolina a little bit if he can stay out of foul trouble but so far hasn’t he’s largely been able to hold his own on that end um yeah it’s just that they they have they have guys who when you look at their roster you’re like oh yeah I remember that guy Nate Santos who had a really good year for them last year hit the portal and came back Malachi Smith who’s been their point guard for forever Posh Alexander the well-traveled Posh Alexander who to that point about mucking a game up we know his I mean he’s basically made his career off of ball pressure um so yeah I I think that’s what they have to do and hope that like the combination of Zed key and Liang can uh can get those Carolina bigs in foul trouble yeah Posh Alexander guarding RJ Davis in this game could be could be fun could be fun certainly it could be fun is it is it overconfident to say like I I think the idea of Posh Alexander as a Defender is better than Posh Alexander as a defender in real life no I think I think that’s I think that’s very fair okay okay to where that’s very fair he has he has games he has games he do um but he has not been like the consistent lockdown guy that he was largely built as right yeah we want to make sure sorry go ahead no no I I don’t have anything else to add to that oh well we’re we’re back in the second half they did they let Lehi do the same thing then they got to Atlantis beat the breaks off of you and I lost an overtime to Villanova which did not age well at all um and then handled Arkansas in the when Arkansas before Arkansas imploded then came back the next week and and you you and I were in the building we watched them put up 61 points and a half against Tennessee um so I I think Hubert’s found something where he gets these guys to play up in big games and I I just get the feeling they’re coming in locked in they already have a game in Hawaii under their belt which you know people clown me for in the comments I see you um saying it was a trap game saying I was nervous it’s just cuz I’m a fan and sometimes fan anxiety takes over is that it’s not it’s not that it’s not that deep but I’m glad they got a game in Hawaii under their belt so they should be adjusted to it and I feel like they’ll just be coming in ready to prove a point these three guards are so good man like kdo RJ and Seth have been playing fantastic if you look at the Kim pom page Elliot CAU has a 74% free throw rate right now which is 63rd in the country uh SE Trimble has a 61.1 free throw rate like they get to the line a ton they pressure the rim Ian Jackson looked great Off the Bench against Hawaii as well to give them another athletic presence who can get into the paint like you play if those three guards do what they’ve been doing all season um and RJ Davis hasn’t even shot the ball well yet like he’s still getting points shooting 22% from three which eventually that’s going to flip um like I I think Carolina has a good chance to win this game by double digits I think they do as well you RJ’s going to come around at some point right wouldn’t surprise me if that happened here Maui on a on a pretty big stage any concern about the tar Hills having just extra free time in Hawaii that they’ll be too distracted chilling on the beach yeah you know doing doing Hawaii things hopefully they got that out of their system I don’t know when Dayton’s coming into coming into town but I need Dayton to be a little a little distracted but I mean who do you think is the most businesslike on this UNCC team who do you think is the one saying like guys we can’t be out I don’t know if there’s casinos in the Lina near the Lina talking about on the beach getting getting a drink by the pool you know I mean RJ Davis is damn near 25 years old like he’s he probably just wants to post up and hang out man something who would be the one I I bet it’s Seth Trimble set Trimble is the one who keeps everybody focused and makes sure they’re not having too much fun on the beach maybe Vin Allen I don’t I don’t I think it’s RJ I think it’s RJ RJ who Reigns business trip yeah might be might be a good thing armondo’s not on this trip might be a good thing we’re very excited to see how this how this ends up this could be the start of um of a good run for whoever wins
