so in this MLB news and rumors video I am going to be talking about all of the latest pertaining to the 20242 MLB off season specifically the latest news regarding the free agency market so uh for all things MLB make sure you guys are subscribed to this channel leave a like on this video let’s get right into it so the first MLB news item for today actually talks about the Washington Nationals potentially going after Christian Walker of the Arizona Diamondbacks this off season so MLB deadline news on X tweeted out the Washington National are among quote the multiple teams pursuing fre agent first baseman Christian Walker per Robert Murray so Christian Walker is definitely one of the more um talked about players this offseason in regards to a first base option uh Christian Walker of course has been linked to some larger market teams like the Yankees as well as some other teams out there as well you know the Blue Jays for example as well as possible options but the Nationals are a team to keep an eye on this off season in regards to making a big time Splash in free agencies so Christian Walker this past year for the DI backs put up a pretty solid season he had a 2.6 War 120 hits 26 home runs a 251 batting average a 72 runs scored 84 RBIs two stolen bases and on base of 335 a 468 slug an LPS of 803 and an Ops plus of 121 so the Nationals actually have been a team this off season linked to some of the bigger name players available um I’ve seen them link to players like Alex bregman for example as a possible option so definitely seems that the Nationals and their ownership group group want to spend money and some capacity on acquiring talent and sort of changing their team from a fringe playoff team uh to hopefully a playoff team in 2025 so Christian Walker is a very solid player he is going to be 34 years old so in regards to what he could be getting on the open market perhaps somewhere around the ballpark of a 3 to a fouryear deal maybe around like 22 to $26 million per year if I had to predict so this would be a pretty good Splash by the Nationals now realistically speaking does this make them a playoff team it very well could realistically speaking though I would say probably not not with their division having the Mets in it and they got better uh the Phillies are obviously strong as well as the Braves it’s going to be pretty tough to crack the playoffs next year so if the Nationals want to get competitive they’re going to have to go against those teams and I think the only way to do so at this point would be to sign a player like a Christian Walker to make a big splash and sign an Alex Breakman so if Christian Walker’s going after perhaps the biggest dollar value yeah then maybe Washington can offer that but if he’s looking for a team they can hopefully win a championship with and sort of together um a really solid second half of his career it’s probably not Washington but you have to respect it if you’re a Nationals fan that the team is definitely interested in signing some players to to some BigTime money uh in free agency because in the past for the Nationals it hasn’t really been a thing so yeah they might have to overpay slightly but if Christian Walker wants to get the biggest you know bag possible this offseason then yeah it could be an option for them but he’s a three-time gold glove Award winner he’s a very coveted player in free agency is going to come down to does he value the dollars and cents more does he value the playoff push more what does he really value I guess only time will tell but regardless the Nationals have some interest in Christian Walker this off season so now shifting gears to the Pacific Northwest where one of the top International Players this offseason that of course being Roki Sasaki is being linked to the Seattle Mariners so John marosi on X tweeted out the Seattle Mariners have the makings of a strong recruiting pitch to Roki Sasaki top Organization for developing young starters Rich history of Japanese players not the biggest MLB Market which could be an advantage based on agent Joe wolf statement this week so those statements by Joel wolf if I do recall correctly was that Roki Sasaki would like to play in a smaller market so sort of like what shy Otani dealt with when he came over from Japan a couple years ago he wanted to go to the angels and not the Dodgers now that obviously changed but uh some players just value smaller markets and that’s perfectly fine especially if you are a smaller Market this is music to your ears now the Mariners make a lot of sense year in and year out for Japanese players um obviously with the success they had with e Suzuki and as mentioned by John marosi their pitching factor that they’ve developed with probably the best young rotation in all baseball in Seattle it makes a lot of sense from both a baseball perspective as well as a living perspective right Seattle’s a beautiful place there’s no state income tax as well so in regards to a player who’s not going to be getting that much money on the open market is due to his age um and his contract status he could definitely take home some more in Seattle especially too if you look into the latest reporting regarding the Mariners there’s been a lot of talk about Luis Castillo being on the tradem market n of the Cubs for a fact have some interest in his services so perhaps they want to clear out some money and maybe sign suaki that could be nice addition by subtraction addition by subtraction uh situation there for the Mariners so if the Mariners were to go ahead and trade Luis Castillo and get rid of his money from the books for that franchise then s Sasaki makes a lot of sense then all of a sudden this team has a you know brilliant young rotation of Logan Gilbert uh Roki Sasaki uh they have Brian blue they have some other players as well this team in Seattle could be very dangerous next year especially too if they’re able to save money on a Roki Sasaki signing unload Luis Castillo’s money then perhaps make a big time you know signing or two by getting like a you know potentially a pet Alonso of sorts that could be an option for them then all of a sudden the Angels could definitely be competing for the division Crown next year with the Astros getting a little bit worse as well as the Texas Rangers having a bit of a Down Season last year so this division is relatively wide open if you ask me uh so if the Mariners want to go out and make a big time Splash this off season then yeah Roki Sasaki could make some sense last year for Roki Sasaki in Japan which by the way he’s only 23 years old as well which is crazy to think about so this would be an awesome move for the Mariners he was one of the best pitchers if not the best pitchers in all Japanese baseball he had a 10- win five loss record a 2.35 erra he had 111 Innings pitched uh with I want to say how many strikeouts exactly I can’t exactly find the number off the top of my head but this guy was a tremendous player and he could be an awesome player to go to the Mariners if he wanted to this off season so we’ll keep an eye on the Seattle Mariners potentially getting rid of Luis castill and maybe replacing him with Roki Sasaki the 23-year-old Japanese superstar that just got posted a couple weeks ago now to MLB free agency so now shifting gears to the Big Apple where the nms may not be done yet with BigTime contracts where they’re being linked to Alex bregman this off season so MLB scoops on X tweeted out sources the New York Mets have interest in adding third baseman Alex Breakman there are said to be about a half dozen teams remaining in his bidding war and they are one of them so everyone thought the Mets would be probably more more or less done when it comes to big name players this offseason uh with the addition of Juan stto in that gigantic contract but all reports indicate that that’s not going to be the case and this team is still looking for some more players and I think Alex bregman actually makes a lot of sense in my personal opinion first off if the Mets Uncle Steve Davis dur want to go all in for 2025 then yeah Sonny Alex Brigman is one of the best third baseman in all of baseball defensively speaking that would make a ton of sense but offensively speaking Alex bregman’s still a very solid player but last year a bit of a dip in his stats he had a 4.1 War season 151 hits 261 runs a 260 batting average uh 79 runs scored 75 rpis three stolen bases and on base of 315 a 453 slug an Ops of 768 and an Ops plus of 118 so Alex Brean is going to be 31 years old next year is probably wanting a contract similar to what Max freed got so maybe around that 30 million doll per year mark on maybe eight or nine years that would be my projection on what he’s going to be asking for so I guess only time will tell in regards to what he could be getting but uh who’s his who’s his agent it is Boris Scott Boris of course represents yesu named it or you guessed it Juan stto so there definitely could be some talks here as there’s a relationship of course between Steve Cowen and Scott Boris with the most recent signing in free agency so if he wants to take care of a Boris client very well once again then Alex bregman could very well be a New York Met come opening day in 2025 especially too with the Kyle Tucker trade happening with the Cubs a couple days ago now this could indicate a bit of a change in the guard in Houston uh with first off Kyle Tucker getting traded then maybe Alex bregman walking in free agency so this could all of a sudden start uh maybe a trend in Houston in regards to selling off some assets could someone like Jose Altuve be next he very well could be but uh Alex bregman very talented player if he were to go to the Mets the Mets would of course 100% win the 2024 25 MLP offseason and would definitely have their site set on winning a championship not only for 2025 but for the next you know 3 to 5 years beyond that with this core group together so could Alex bregman be going to the New York Mets this off season I wouldn’t put it past Uncle Steven David Sterns uh as seem to have an limited amount of money and they love to spend it so now talking about a trade rumor that has been talked about and speculated on a couple you know for a couple days now that being between the Cubs and the Marlins regarding Jesus lazardo so MLB deadline news on Twitter or X tweeted out the Chicago Cubs and Miami Marlins are discussing a trade that includes starting pitcher Jesus lazardo per Bruce LaVine so this actually comes after the Kyle Tucker trade where he of course went to the Cubs so the Cubs could be wheeling and dealing and I’ve also seen the Cubs link to some other players like Luis Castile for example so perhaps starting pitching could be a priority for them there’s been lots of reports as well of Cody Bellinger potentially going to the Yankees so if they can get rid of some of his money and not retain too much of it then perhaps they could go after a player with some team control like Jesus sardo who would be a pretty appealing player in my personal opinion on a team friendly contract so a hazus Lardo last year for the Marlins not his best year injuries of course were a bit of a concern for him there but he had a 0.9 War season three wins six losses an eay of 5.00 so kind of ugly there uh 12 games played 66.2 Innings pitched with 58 strikeouts and a whip of 1. 1245 so the most appealing part about Jesus lazardo has to be the fact that he is under team control until 2027 so he is AR uh he is arbitration eligible this year but having two more years left under team control is definitely pretty appealing if you ask me so if you are the Cubs who maybe want to get rid of our Cody Bellinger’s money that is brought on you know Kyle Tucker who who they have to resign you know beyond this year I think getting a starting pitch like Jesu cardo who by the way is just 27 years old as well this is an awesome move for the Cub so this front office in Chicago wants to be pretty active and wants to be pretty um you know good in regards to making a competitive team next year I think if they’re able to get Jesus Lardo to this team as well as I mentioned before the addition of Kyle Tucker and potentially to the subtraction of Cody Bellinger it could be a bit of a different looking team of course in 2025 but could this CB team be a division winner they very well could be and I think if you are the Marlins of course you want to get back some you know some controllable Assets in return uh which the uh you know the Cubs gave up in the Kyle Tucker trade so perhaps the package now is a bit diluted but I could this be something to keep an eye on moving forward it absolutely could be so we keep an i Jesus zardo potentially going to the Chicago Cubs this offseason the uh the trade market so that is going to be it for this
