uh you got two drives today on the you in the first half you went 12 plays 75 yards and scored but why was it tough uh today to keep the offense consistent against Notre Dame uh was really good football team extremely well coached you know great athletes um and we just didn’t execute um a lot of things we practiced during the week um you know we couldn’t sustain blocks uh we didn’t break enough tackles as ball carriers um they’re really well coached if you mess up anything they’re going to expose it and they did tonight um um and we just we we couldn’t stay on the field and it’s props to them they’re a great team and you ran it I think it’s 38 times was it hard to get the ball you’re trying to get some plays out to Noah short and to uh terel Robinson but was it tough to get the ball out on the perimeter it is they just have a lot of good athletes you know out wide and um you know we were trying to trying to stay on the field and try not to get behind the chains and you know they got us behind the chains and that forces us to do you know things that are un characteristic um so you know we trying to get the ball out wide sometimes but it’s difficult when you play a really good team like that thank you yeah I we’re just going to keep the same mentality we’ve had all year and that’s just a one and0 uh each week um you know forget what’s in the past whether it’s good or bad obviously today was bad um so you know I think that’ll light a fire in some guys have a really good practice tomorrow uh and just go one and0 this week because that’s all that matters uh we still have so much to play for um this season’s not even close to being over so we’ll go get back to work tomorrow and uh get ready to beat yousa second R there uh it seemed that when you had the most success uh rushing the ball tonight was when you were able to get it to the outside uh why weren’t you able to uh just on a consistent basis uh get it to the outside uh to generate more offense yeah I mean it’s a combination of a lot of things you know they gave us a lot of different looks um and they had had a really good plan uh to stop the outside stuff and you know we were able to like you said have a few plays where were able to get on the outside but those are few and far between um so it’s just just getting better next week and sustaining blocks on the outside and you know stuff like that that will help us get more of those plays front now yes sir we uh we proud ourselves a lot um in red zone defense and props to the guys up front um D line it starts with them and they’re able to get a good push in the goal line goal line stand so couldn’t have done it without them all the guys making the right fits and stuff so you know we just all you know did the right thing and defensive line shot out and ended up working well yeah I we knew on offense it was going to be extremely physical you know they’re you know a great defensive football team um you know their had coach a defensive defensive guy and uh he dialed up great plan today and their players play really hard and we knew that coming in um it was just all about execution today uh and that’s where we fell short same thing on defense I mean offensive line super physical all the guys you know they never stop never stopped playing um they all gave great great effort well coached um did the fundamentals really well well so it was really really tough game back to Ken standing and just thought on on why it was tough to stop no J rushing attack and did something happen at the start of the second half when you had when Jeremiah Love was able to get that long run uh yeah we had a we had a couple guys out of position um should have been we should have fited better um but again props to them they had a great offensive line great scheme they knew what they were getting and they knew what we were doing so um you know props them props the offensive line anything else for the student athletes thank you guys thank you oh what a great football team we played tonight they uh they are really athletic and uh extremely well coached I just I mean in every phase they uh they outclassed us they they blocked us and kept us blocked um we couldn’t sustain blocks uh in the interior or on the perimeter um they did a great job on the punt block we uh you know it’s it’s embarrassing to have that happen that hadn’t happened in our program in years and uh you know just they they made they made a bunch of plays and uh I’m proud of our guys proud of the effort our guys continued to fight the entire game um and you know it was it was uh to a point there certainly in the fourth quarter that it was going to be really hard for us to find a Pathway to Victory but our guys never stopped fighting and and uh and that you know that’s we proud ourselves on that uh fortunately that’s been able to to get us at a victory Circle more often than not lately but uh tonight we just faced a great team and and so uh you know congratulations to coach Freeman and their team and certainly wish them uh success as they go forward but um we had two two two guys up here um terrific players for us and and uh you know both really fought and played hard and and had good football games tonight just collectively we didn’t we didn’t do uh what we needed to to win the football game and and and frankly so much of it had to do with them you it wasn’t uh the fact that uh you know we Misfit a bunch of runs or we had a lot of missed assignments or anything like that just we couldn’t block them and keep them blocked and we couldn’t get off of their blocks and that’s that’s fundamentals of football and and uh they did that much better than us so um you know we we’ll regroup and and try to get ready for next next week and you know when when you get to this point in the season uh when the teame gets to this point in the season one as many games we have all the games are big this was a big game today uh unfortunately we came up short but next week’s a big game and the one after that’s a big game and the one following that one there’s not a bigger game for us on the schedule so we got a lot look forward to and a lot to play for we’ll open up for questions in the back there coach uh talk about what it means to coach in a rivalry that dates back as long as this one does and just the history behind this rivalry well I don’t know if you’d call it a rivalry uh you got to win sometimes for it to be a rivalry uh and we haven’t won this one in a long time we don’t play them every year uh thank God uh they’re they they’re are such a good football team and uh it’s what an awesome night for our guys and none of our guys got recruited by Notre Dame and it’s not like they had their choice to going to know 14 power five schools and uh you know get a chance to experience playing a team like Notre Dame playing in a venue like Yankee State who gets to play here not very many football teams get to play here not many athletes this is one of the most iconic sports venues in the world and we get to go compete out there on that field how many people are envious of our players and coaches and so it was awesome to be able to be out there and be a part of that tonight I just wish I wish we could have played better I wish we could have found a way to to be more competitive in the game um you the history belongs to the Notre Dame they they’ve won this game and and certainly won tonight and Know It uh it’s just it’s an awesome experience for our guys and that’s it’s something they’ll remember and and uh you know won’t be quite a fond memory but a memory that they were able to play in in Yankee Stadium Joe go ahead Joe aano hey coach monin we knew inter Dame was going to be awesome athletically and physically um was there anything from a scheme Point offensively or defensively that surprised you at all no no surprises um I guess maybe I just surprised how how how much better they were tonight and uh I thought we would be competitive in the game I thought we could we could play with them I thought we could block them and and P blocks enough that uh that we could get the Run game going um I thought our guys just the way we play with effort on defense might be able to to rally and make some plays and there was there was there were no surprises they their football team is highly motivated they’re playing for a spot in the college football playoff they’re well coached it it it’s it’s apparent uh that they have they they do have a very strong culture and those guys play together and they’re playing with a lot of Pride and so um it’s just a very difficult team to beat tonight and uh I’m certain they’re probably going to make it tough on a lot of people to beat them in the black go ahead coach you emphasized some of the low lights tonight you know despite the tough lws was there any positive you found or saw throughout the game to build on moving forward oh sure I mean that that the goal line stand was fantastic by our defense we’ve done that a couple of times already this year and and uh just a great effort on their part I was really proud of them for that um the uh you know the the touchdown drives you those are gritty and tough and uh there weren’t any big explosive plays we had to you know we had to grind the ball all the way down the field to to make those touchdowns so I certainly proud of that um I’m just proud of the way our guys continued to fight and there there was absolutely no quit if you were watching our team yeah they they kicked our butts that was apparent but it also apparent that the guys in the white jerseys never quit and uh and so I’m really proud of him for that and you know there there’ll be some things that we’ll see on the film as we watch that we could have done better but we didn’t lose the game tonight because as I said we blocked the wrong guy or Miss fit gaps or didn’t cover the right receiver they just made way more plays and uh and they they were better right here go ahead hey Jeff Ralph we so with the athletic um um you obviously you said you guys fight till the end and nobody’s going to question your guys toughness do you give any consideration in the late in that game to give him Bryson a series off um because of all the really big games you have coming up yeah um no uh our guys are every one of our guys are going to commissioned officers in the Army and every one of their classmates that was sitting up there in [Music] nzone and the the other 4,000 that are back West Point are all going to be commissioned officers in the army that that that’s a mentality that is uncommon to accept that responsibility to make that commitment and what a soldier does is a soldier fights Soldier fights until the end and we were trying to win that football game to the very end they got to a point where we weren’t going to be able to win the football game we weren’t going to go park the bus and that’s just that’s just a that’s just who we are um and and you know had we had we been in a position [Music] where it was 49 to 28 and Bryson played his ass off and we had some touchdown drives and we we were a little more competitive and maybe uh maybe we we we give Dwayne a chance to go into a game like that and and to uh have a chance to to compete on that level and on you know against a team like that that’s good for him for the future but what was good for our football team tonight was to to continue to fight with our best our starters our guys that we think give us the best chance to win and we had two drives in the fourth quarter one of them extended from the third into the fourth uh and Bryson was in for that one um turned it over on Downs they scored on one play we got the ball back and that was the last Drive of the game and we went down and scored it time and that one took 10 minutes so we weren going to pull him out in the middle of the drive and that kid’s a warrior I mean you see him walk in here he’s got blood running down his arms and legs and his jersey looks like you know the the bambon machine pulled around on the field out there um he’s tough and he wants to compete he’s a leader and uh that’s just the figh American Soldier and and it’s important that we display that fight because it’s it’s those men and women that we represent every time we play um so I’m I’m I’m proud of him and sure we run we run the risk of him being beat up and all those things and going in the next game but I I think was is important it it was important for us to continue to really strive to to try to finish that game with our best and that’s that’s why we left them in there couple more Ken crater Coach Ken crater cats media just it was a very physical game uh how do you uh address going into next week’s game against Texas San Antonio couple of players were hurt Maxi Dominico and Cody Harris Miller any comment you can offer oh we we’ll get a better evaluation as as those injuries calmed down Max got hurt in the first half and was able to come back and play in the second half he didn’t finish the game it it was a it was a knee injury but uh enough that he could go back in and they just he knocked knees with another guy there in the end zone and probably a bad Bru or something like that and we’ll we’ll we’ll assess that Cody um he gobbled off there and wasn’t able to return and we’ll get we’ll get some Imaging of it and really see what’s going on hopefully it’s nothing fous and and uh he’ll be able to play he’s meant a lot to our defense defense and we’d certainly like to have him down the stretch but we in terms of getting ready for UTSA next week really I mean it’s it’s it’s just get back to work tomorrow I’m I’m proud of our guys I told them I’m proud of them and they uh they gave it the best effort um we got beat tonight and and next week’s game be as hard to win as this one was we’re playing a very talented team they well coached team they’re playing their best football right now they the um you know they won 51 to something uh this weekend and and uh that’s a team that we’ve always you know battled with and and had some very close games last time they came to Mikey State and they beat us in overtime so um we’re going to get right back to work and we’ll be working on the bus on the way back to West Point and we’ll working first thing tomorrow thanks Ken s go ahead hey coach um are games like this against teams like Notre Dame a good way to gauge where your program’s at right now and know where you got what you got to do to get oh I I I don’t know Next Level so to speak oh I think to’d be nine and0 going in this game this team’s been playing next level uh it’s hard to it’s hard to to say Notre Dam’s a measuring stick for our program we don’t have a single guy that got recruited by Notre Dame and probably after this game Mark Marcus isn’t going to be checking the transfer portal to see if any of our guys are available uh you know that’s just a reality of who we are and so I I I’m not going to feel like because we weren’t able to beat Notre Dame tonight that we you know we somehow are um failing in in our abilities to be able to compete at the highest level you that’s that’s a great football team they’ve beaten a lot of really good football teams um and and I’m sure they’ll probably win some more games and and uh and give people heck in the playoffs um that’s not to say that we can’t be competitive with power five programs uh we’ve done that here over the course of my career we’ve played we played some of the best teams in the country really close and uh you know took two top 10 teams in backtack years to overtime we beat what I thought was a very talented Missouri team um we we you know we beaten wake and beaten Duke and those are those are all schools that didn’t recruit any of our guys either uh so we’ve been able to be competitive but this this this team is next level you this is talking about a top 10 football team in the country so I I’m not I’m not doing any measuring on that and and where I think we are as a program I’m got a really strong culture we got really tough guys we got some talented guys and now collectively we wen’t the most talented team on the field tonight but we got guys that fought and played and and um I’m I’m not panicking I’m feeling like oh my gosh what’s wrong with our team um I I I believe in our guys and I believe in our team and got be by a really good football team tonight so uh I I I hope we don’t have to play them again before the season’s over they we we play somebody else at this point but um you know who knows they’re they’re uh when I look at those teams like Notre Dame you really have access to the top recruits in the country um when when when you flip on the you know pull up ESPN on your computer and you look at recruiting rankings you look at recruits that are top guys and what schools they’re interested you know often those recruits are mentioned in Notre Dame as one of their schools I I’ve yet to see a you know a top 300 Prospect mention Army in one of his his uh your top schools it just who we are and uh and so back what’s that Ken bson back in back yeah I don’t know if he was top 300 guy but he’s he’s he was a really good player he certainly was and uh that doesn’t mean we got guys on our team didn’t didn’t have scholarship offers other places but not any FPS offers or certainly not any power five offers so anyway sorry to be longwinded on that we’ll do two more and then wrap up Seth go ahead coach you got three big games ahead of you um what do you tell your kids after a game like this tomorrow I know how you practice but what do you tell them with three very important games ahead I’m proud of that I love each and every one of them and that if we’re going to win next week we got to get back to work tomorrow and not let this derail us um and that takes mental toughness and and self-discipline because it’s easy to look and and feel like man we just got our butts kicked what’s wrong with us and uh you can you can let it we we could let it affect us but we got a mature enough team and when a team gets to this point of the season we’re nine and one but the games are big next week’s a big game our guys know that and uh for whatever that means but it’s it’s it’s just the next opportunity to play and really to to get the bad taste out of our mouth from tonight and so hopefully we’ll our guys won’t let this game linger into next week and I hope we win next week if we don’t win next week it won’t because of be because of tonight I know we got a mature enough team to not let that happen we’re going to have to really work hard to beat UTSA because I think they’re really good anyone else thanks everybody thanks
