hey everyone welcome back to my channel I hope you’re all doing well now today I’ve got a very exciting guest I’m joined by Pedro The Grove Channel um who has talks about the Arsenal um on the Arsenal Opinion podcast and I just really appreciate you coming on today and we’re going to be previewing the game at the weekend against West Ham and honestly I can’t wait to chat with you about it but first of all how are you doing today I’m doing great we’re we’re post Thanksgiving over here uh so uh getting ready for the long weekend and hopefully that long weekend includes Arsenal beating West Ham yeah definitely I’m I’m really excited for the game I think it’s going to be really good hopefully we’ll get a win um but before we do um chat about that I just want to get your thoughts about Arsenal this season because I know it’s been a bit of a bumpy ride we started off guard and then we hit a bit of a tough um phase and then obviously now things have started to pick up for us so what have you sort of made of our season I think we’re in I think we’re in decent shape think um teams have ups and downs throughout the season the path to success is never perfectly linear you’re going to have to deal with big injuries you’re going to have to deal with Injustice you’re GNA have to deal with some bad performances and I only think I think there’s been one that we can really speak to and that was Newcastle but I’m feeling good about who we’re closest to at the moment I’m not really worried about Liverpool over the long term um Manchester city is the team that we’ve got to keep up with they’re having a disaster of a season but there’re still one point ahead of us and Pep Guardiola is the most expensively paid manager in the world because he normally gets it right so if if we’re within spitting distance of Manchester City come February um or ahead of them I think we’ll be in good shape to win the Premier League this year so I think um I think it’s good I think it’s good so far how about you yeah it’s been it’s been an interesting one I think like you said man city like I never expect I never would have expected them to have lost so many games that they have and drawn so many um but I think we’ve got to now make the most of that and obviously the big game for Man City Liverpool the weekend um it’s going to be a good one um but for us I think I think when you’re up against Man City and the pool you do have to be almost perfect and really good but I think I think we’ve just got to go on a good run now and hope things you know can come good for us but I think at the moment I think our performances have been so much better and like you said I think it’s not been a bad season it’s just some results haven’t gone our away I think we we haven’t had the best of luck as well um with the red cards and all of that that doesn’t help at all um but yeah I mean how are you feeling going to the game in the weekend because obviously we’re doing good in the Champions League 5-1 with we’re scoring a lot of goals and we seem to be in a good place right now feeling good I mean the Chelsea game before the uh I think it was before the break was really really good the result wasn’t quite where we wanted it to be but since then it feels like we’re getting that posted by a bounce um we’re scoring goals uh players uh stepping up to the challenge artet has got a full Squad to pick from don’t underestimate and not having your best players causes problems just look at manchest City and I think the the team looked spiteful against sporting in the week and I think that says a lot about the motivations I I think the the team feels a little bit wronged um probably don’t like the press that they’ve been getting and I think that they want to prove a point and games like West Ham are non-negotiables it has to be three points every game through December as you know as far as we can take it we do have some difficult games has to be three points we’ve got 27 points up for grabs believe um and we’ve probably got to get to 24 to be in with a shout of the Premier League I think they’re all thereabouts and I looking at the fixture list I see no reason we can’t do that yeah I think I think you know the game of the weekend like you said it’s it’s a must win like we we should really be winning that and obviously it’s not going to be easy I always say you can never predict these games um these days because you know you wouldn’t thought we would lose the Ballmer and other teams so I think it’ll be tough but I also feel like with our Squad being back fully fit and there obviously Ben White Tom y a few others aren’t there but our Squad depth is right now we’re in a good position so I think um it’ll be interesting as well to sort of see what sort of line proct is going to go with and the Midfield and all of that because it’s great for me I’m really loving oard back in the team we’ve missed him so much and I wanted to speak about that because without him I just feel it we like a different Aro like it it’s crazy how much of an impact that he’s had do you feel like our performances have improved because of him or do you feel like it our players are just getting better as well like or do you think it’s a bit both I think Martin Ard is such a unique player you know he’s sublimely talented from a creative perspective but he’s also an absolute Workhorse I mean he’s leading of the press um there’s also he’s he’s also one of those players who does have an aura about him things just happen differently when he’s on the pitch and you know I can’t be too harsh on the side prior to him coming back because I think we did the job in the main I think that we have to remember three red cards in 11 or 12 games is is is pretty unheard of and very difficult to navigate off the back of it um so erar coming back inside he’s going to change the shape of things but also just having more fit bodies to pick from it wasn’t just Ard that was out I think I saw number that we’d had 21 injuries so far this season like we’ve had problems with our fullbacks coming in and out you know our Midfield hasn’t really been able to take shape Marino was out instantly at the start of the season with uh for eight weeks and then he came back into the mix and he’s trying to feel his way around and I think the the other factor that I think is starting to become a pattern at Arsenal is that Manchester City every season tends it feels like every season there’s a moment in about November where you say they got it wrong har harland’s harland’s made them worse Jack Gish has made them worse and then all of a sudden they click and everything goes well in the back half of the season and I think that if you’ve got a good manager good manager will innovate the team and those Innovations won’t really settle in until December January and then the hope is that in January your new system is you know two 3% better than everybody else’s and then you go on a run and we We Didn’t Start strongly last year but we finished strongly we haven’t started strongly this year and now it’s starting to feel like the strong performances are happening earlier fingers crossed and that’s what we’ll find out with West Ham is it a pattern or is it we’ve just had couple of teams on a bad day yeah I think I think with the game at the weekend like I feel quite confident we’ll get the win and whether that whether or not it’ll be an easy win or a tough one probably so for knowing those but um yeah I think I think you know I think we’ve got to be happy with how are going right now and I think like bck up I just want to say pick up to Alexis because I think this comment’s quite important we are in a decent shape all those have not been that bad and I also feel like I think it it’s hard of man city but I think when we’ve been doing bad it’s been so hard because Liverpool been doing so well I think if Liverpool dropped points when we were doing bad maybe things in our head might think things haven’t been as bad as they were but I think as Liverpool were doing so good it felt like we were just doing terrible but if you look at it now um you we’re not too far away from them I think we can go on a good run but I think the problem is I see us dropping points throughout the season because we’re not perfect and injuries will probably happen again along the way um but with like the title because that’s such an interesting one because I know a lot of Arsenal fans are a bit mixed about it I think a big chunk of fans are quite open to the fact we can win the league we’ve got a good chance do you still feel like it’s quite open to us and City to still win the league 100% yeah I like I’ve read Arsenal fans on on in my blogs comment section saying if Man City lose to Liverpool this weekend title’s over it’s like listen there there isn’t a manager on the planet that would be planning open top bus parades on December 1st there’s absolutely no chance there is so much to play for December’s always really difficult um teams are going to get injuries teams are going to get unfair red cards form is going to dip we haven’t seen Anna slot deal with a disaster yet and like let’s remember the opening of unai emy’s career was we’ve got our Arsenal back we thought ah this this this is the next level that we haven’t had uh for a number of years and then after January it collapsed because he didn’t have the trust of the squad and his ideas weren’t going to take us um to where we needed to be so I think uh hold your horses on Li Arsenal have got keep up but Liverpool have had every piece of luck going in their way so far and that never lasts yeah I think I I completely agree with you like I think at the time when we’re doing bad it’s hard to think that we’ll turn it around and it’s hard to think that we’ll get out of you know the rest we were in but I think right now I think injuries do actually are a big part to play in why you know teams are struggling I mean I don’t looking at it now I don’t think it’s an excuse at all because I think Man City really struggling with rodery and he’s sort of like our OD guard in the team he’s like so important and um I do wonder if they’re going to if they win against Liverpool they could go on a really good run and then it makes it more exciting and we’ve got to do our job always um but yeah I think it’s so open now um I think Liverpool will drop points along the way but I also think for us we’ve got some tough games you know can we go to anfield and get the win like because that’s one of the games that I’m looking at and I’m thinking I just don’t know if we can do that I think that there’s always a chance but I feel like is it likely that we can get a draw there I mean a draw probably isn’t enough we want to go there and get the win but do you feel like going to like the top teams do you think we could you know that’s the chance for us to get those points if we want to win the league because we love to play Man City as well and I feel like we’ve really got to win against them yeah I mean sporting liis been work unbeaten and they absolutely smashed Man City and we demolished them 5-1 away from home in the Champions League I don’t think there’s a team in the world that we can’t beat away from home um and it just all depends what’s going on when we play them I mean if the if the luck carries with Liverpool we’ll have four of our best players out um in that game but if um if it’s if it’s our best 11 versus their best 11 I fancy us wherever we play I think we’re a better side than um I think side than Liverpool I also wonder as the season starts to fade on a little bit those players that are in their 30s whether they will start to feel the the creeks and cracks that come with age just like happened last season and um those contracts that are happening with some of their players um won’t have been signed by then and I wonder what influence that’s going to have on the squad Trent is going to go to Madrid I don’t think there’s any doubt there we know that Mo Salah had 100 50 million pound bid for him two summers ago that was turned down and 32 years old 50 million pound golden handshake 100 million pound contract tax-free like how is that going to impact if if he doesn’t get the do he wants at Liverpool and I really don’t think that they’re gonna offer him a three-year deal on 350 Grand a week if he doesn’t get that deal is he G to be focused on Liverpool in March going away to brenford going away to Everton I don’t think so that’s the thing with Salah because that really surprised me when he came out and he said what he said I know it’s early in the league and things might change you know you might offer him a deal but at the moment like it you’d be silly to sort of move him on right now because he’s still so good Salah and this season he’s been amazing and he’s been at that level for a long time and like yeah I would be surprised if he did leave to be honest with you um because he’s been so important for them I also think if you left you Liverpool will be a very different team and you mentioned about Trent as well I do have a feeling he would leave because I think I think for himself you know he probably want I just think he would I just have that feeling that he’s going to move on but I know how much he loves Liverpool so that’s the only thing that I think would he stay for that but it it’s going to be interesting as well and I think with on slot first season I think he’s obviously had a really good start and but for you like if we didn’t win the league would you rather Man City or Liverpool win it because do you know how I see it because obviously I hate Man City winning things and them not but I also think on they slot if he wins it in this first season and we’ve been trying for a few seasons it will hurt a bit really yeah I I agree with you I don’t I don’t want to see Manchester City win the Premier League again I’m not I’m but but yeah if Anna slot gets it in the first in the first season that’s uh that’s going to definitely sting for Arsenal fans I’m trying I’m trying not to think along those levels like I just think the the underlying fundamentals look don’t look good for Liverpool across a full season and Le let’s see how slot does when there are two bad losses on the bounce let’s see what happens when Salah gets injured I mean they they’re they’re a oneman team at the moment yeah I think opta said would be 13th in the league if it wasn’t for mosella and I know it’s silly to say things like that because having your best player available is that’s what it’s all about but he’s 32 years old got injured last season around January February there’s no reason to think that won’t happen again and I just think that we will see a similar effect as we’ve seen of rodri dropping out of Manchester City so I I don’t want I don’t want to think about Liverpool winning the Premier League I think I think they’re going to drop away yeah I I think there’s definitely more more like twists and turns like throughout the season I mean like we said it’s very early on it’s not really Christmas yet and I think I think when you get to January time you can have a good idea of things but I definitely think the will drop points and you know people have sort of said they had um a good fixtures you know when the season started and we we’ve had it quite hard to be honest with you because we we you know we faced Man City quite early on we had Spurs and we had liver we we’ve had those really big fixtures and I suppose the argument is like you said if they if they lose some of them games how are they going to bounce back from how are they going to deal with that and I think we sort of know how we deal with our sort of problems when we’re losing and injuries obviously have been a big part to play and now that our team is fa I think there’s no reason that I said why we can’t go on a good run and for the game like at the weekend um what lineup would you like to see um I’m pretty sure everyone is fit other than like Ben why and um Tommy ASU but yeah what lineup would you be happy with uh I feel like the defense is going to kind of pick itself at the moment um Calif Fury left Timber on the right celba and Gabrielle through the middle um I’m not really sure what sort of West Ham we’re going to get so it’s difficult to pick the type of Midfield that you want but it’s hard to see it not being Thomas parte Declan rice Martin erard if I’m honest I am I do like Marino but I don’t know whether Marino is getting in that side at the moment I know Dean rice is carrying a bit of a problem so yeah there you could see him rotated out and then up front um Kai sacka um I don’t know like this feels like a trossard game I don’t know about you I feel like Trad against West Ham feels right but um how are you going to line up what you think yeah it’s interesting with Trad isn’t it because there’s times where he’ll play and you’ll actually do really good and there’s other times where he’s better off the bench and Martinelli is an interesting one because he’s not sort of the Martinelli he was a few years ago but he is still getting those goals and I think that’ll be good but I I would actually change if few think I’d probably play trassard um yeah probably do have up top sacka Trad um do you the midfields I feel like if rice is okay you know he should play with part has been amazing this season honestly I think they would be great um oards definitely um but like I said the back four is probably Timber as well um probably Timber um calori and then you know s and Gabrielle that I think we sort of know back for if all players are fit but um yeah I think I mean I’d be interested to see if Arta does change anything because sometimes you just never knowa might throw someone and you don’t expect um but yeah and me Marino is the interesting one because some fans aren’t sold on him yet like how do you feel about him because I do like him but I’m not crazy about him just yet yeah I’m I’m with you it wasn’t it wasn’t the sexiest of transfers to be linked to in the summer everybody was pretending that they knew who he was but what we’ll know we were looking up the videos and the stats I think Carta really likes him um which is which is important he doesn’t he doesn’t get many wrong um I think we’re starting to see a little bit more of what Marino is all about he’s fantastic in the jewels he’s super aggressive he can move around the pitch with ease and I think one of the biggest threats that artet thinks he can get from him is in the Box um he’s sort of late surging runs he’s very good in the air um and I think that he thinks that he’ll be good from set pieces and um sort of those long deep balls from the fullbacks um I’m I’m starting to see what he can do I think he’s much better on the ball than initially thought I think some of those uh some some of those little moves he was doing against Chelsea were really interesting I thought he was good when he came on against sporting the other night I mean it was his strike from distance that allowed trossard to score a goal I think he’s a competitor I think he’s a he’s he’s a bit of a an athletic monster and that’s kind of what Arta wants from his Midfield so it will be interesting against West Ham we’ve got a pretty big side whether he does up for him and you know maybe Dean sits on the bench but you do think you do have to say Dean against West Ham like he’s gonna find a little bit of something extra in that game so maybe he’ll get a start but your point about um Arta trying something different I think it’s really key we can’t pick the same team for the whole of December and the start of January we’ve got a game every single you know a game every three days for the whole six week period players are going to have to get rotated so I wouldn’t be shocked to see zenchenko coming to the side you know I wouldn’t be shocked to see Marino start because arteta’s got man united in mind so like he’s going to have to make some decisions like that Thomas party can’t play every single game of was he’ll break so he has to be rested at some point so those are the considerations you’re like West Ham on in a good place do we take a risk here that’s the thing because I don’t it was a few games ago I saw parte was on the bench I was like oh my God and then he came on in the second half and you start to think you know players like George Jor they could he can step in you know it depends which game games because I think when we’re playing United you’d probably want BTE Rice playing together but I think like you said we can do those rotations I think it also depends on which games I know the cup games are a really good opportunity to see you know wer is another one that um aa’s not really started and I kind of get it he’s young and you might not want to throw him in a deep end but I personally think he’s ready to start a game I’m not too sure which game it would be but I think we’re starting to sort of see that he is ready he’s scoring those goals and he’s really brings us this energy um I don’t think he’ll start against West Ham but I do think when would come off the bench but for you would you like to see ala maybe just start in one game or do you feel like that’ be too soon I’m I’m caught in two minds on this one the the the first point is I’m a fan and I love young Highlanders making it in the starting 11 there’s nothing more exciting fans get um so excited I think said the other week that the mood changes in the stadium when weri comes off the bench um but the the other side of that is I was a season ticket holder in the stadium watching Jack Wilshire break into the side uh 18 years old and I think he played 52 or 54 games in a single season he was magnificent but his body wasn’t ready for that and he broke down and he he basically never came back from from That season and I think arteta is acutely aware of the load the um the Premier League and the Champions League can put on a young player so I think he’s like slowly integrating him I think he calls it I think he called it building blocks the other week so whilst I’m excited and you’re excited about seeing him in the starting 11 I think the like slowly integrating him uh over the course of a season is the way that it’s going to go I think that’s probably best for his development and Arsenal fans they beg to see young players in the side and if young players come in the side and they don’t do the job after two games they get on their back and then that player then has the emotional pressure of every time they go on the internet someone’s calling them a fraud so you know we we’ve we’re not very gentle with young players I think the coaching staff understand that very well so I think we’re just going to see him slowly develop as the season goes on but listen getting 20 minutes in this Arsenal side is a much harder achievement than Bayo Saka getting 19 minutes back in the Emory days at left back so I think we should be grateful that we got him in a sight but I think uh I think the club’s going to take the development of weri and MLS um slowly yeah I think like you said as well because if he started a game and he didn’t do good you know I think fans would like I said would probably get on us back I mean on social media especially I think a game the you know the fans would probably get behind him but I think there’s that pressure on him and he’s quite young and it might be hard for him to manage so I think Arta is probably protecting him you know but I also think he has started in those Cup games and I think with Crystal Palace coming up we’ll probably see him maybe start then but I I I completely get it um but obviously we do see him play you know he does come on with the bench and I think that’s obviously great as well same with Louis Skelly I think it’s great to see him get minutes like you said the fans are so enthusiastic and happy when we get to see him and I think it’s amazing to see the these youth players get a chance because I think it’s quite hard really for them to get these chances now because I mean mro as well I really loved him it was hard for him to the team and I think sometimes you’ve just got to do what’s right for your care and be a bit selfish and because I think if you need game time that’s what’s important so it’d be good to sort of see whener as time goes on to get even more game time and maybe eventually he could be a starter in the team but it’s it’s great for to have the option for him to come off the bench because when comes on you know that you’ll make that impact straight away yeah agree with that agree with that yeah I I do I love him he’s he’s amazing to watch he’s like you know we have this love for sacka and it’s like you know we’ve watched him grow and become this amazing player and saaka is just amazing this season I think he’s done really well but for you like so far the season which sort of player has stood out to you so far I think our best player this season has been Thomas party a bit and listen I started the season I said I don’t want him anywhere near the starting 11 he doesn’t have the legs to play in the Premier League anymore he’s getting cooked every time he gets on the pitch people are running past him and then I I don’t know what’s happened I guess it’s when you know that your contracts up at the end of the season all of a sudden his you know his paper hamstrings have strengthened up and his focus and ability on the pitch has just been Second To None to watch I mean he really has been incredible he’s put Dean rice in a shadow um a bit If we’re honest um it’s going to be a shame when the injury comes because the injury is coming and the big concern now you know like I don’t know in the summer I was like we need a Winger we need somebody as backup to sacker I thought that that was the most important position along with maybe a striker after watching what party’s done in the opening you know three months of the season now I’m like this six that replaces him in the summer has to be really really really good because we’re potentially replacing two sixes georgino probably won’t get a new deal party I I think it’s almost a certainty that he won’t get a new deal who’s coming in to replace him because whatever it is we don’t have it in this squad it’s not Dean rice it’s not Marino so they need to be really sharp on uh on on recruitment that’s the thing as well because um I was having a conversation with someone like during the summer and I feel that party would be very hard to replace like I know he get Syed a lot and at the moment and we’re just hoping that it can continue to stay fit but um I feel like he’d be very hard player to replace because we’re seeing right now like how important he is like at the moment you sort of look on the team sheet and you really hope he’s playing like he’s he’s being so important um I do think the season has been better than rice so far I think rice has obviously played a lot of football for the euros and it’s taken more time and I don’t think rice has been bad he’s just not being what he was last season but um pte is definitely stood out um this season and I think like you said the recruitment I think that’s going to be massive because I think there’s a lot of players here like they don’t really start and we sort of know we’ll probably move them on and I think I think the recruitment is going to be massive really I mean with like the summer transfer window I know like um a big you know some fans weren’t happy with it I mean I thought we should have brought in a striker but yeah how do you feel like it’s affected our season when we’ve struggled like the transfer window I don’t know I mean like there’s a there were two ways of looking at again like as a fan you want anybody in that moment you’re like I I will take Joshua xery I will take him and most Arsenal fans would have um man united are an example of what happens when you do what fans want you to do Joshua xery is not at the level and he’ll probably get kicked back to um to Juventus or you know one of the Italian clubs um ker also came in sign anybody Arsenal fans were into ker I like ker as a player I really do I like every time I see him in International Football I’m like what a player what talent even watching Seria he’s come over he can’t get a sniff so in in football you like you have to have people in charge of recruitment that make um unemotional decisions and if you’ve got one chance a striker and that and because you’ve got finite cash you’re not backed by a nation state and you’ve got 70 million or 60 million or 50 million to spend on a striker if you get it wrong the problem is it’s very difficult to get rid of players uh when you get it wrong it’s like it it could take two three years to exit them out of the club and amarin’s gonna find that out of United everyone’s expecting this rebuild this rebuild is gonna take a long time casemiro on 450 Grand a week he’s not going anywhere so if Arsenal um if Arsenal look the you know dispassionately at the statistics they say we broke our Premier League record for goals scored the last two seasons running goals isn’t really a problem so if cesco can’t land with us this summer why don’t we just wait until next year and get the right player and I think that’s what happened and I think that’s probably what happened in the in the Winger position as well I I I think that they probably wanted Pedro Netto but at 65 million or whatever he cost they probably thought that was overvalued they probably thought Sterling after the season he had last year would probably come in and do a semide decent job he hasn’t so far but Arsenal will be planning transfer Windows you know a year 18 months two years ahead they’ll know who they want they’ll know the targets and I think we just have to accept that that has put us in pretty good position over the years we didn’t get vavic we didn’t panic and sign Val Vost and then that summer for the same money we would have spent on vlahovich we got jayus and zenchenko so sometimes patience is always better being strategic is always better than making emotional decisions and I think you can see the clubs in the Premier League where they’ve just spent the money for spending its sake and it hasn’t really worked I’m thinking like Brennan Johnson at Spurs yeah post Harry Kane not really clicked felt like a bit of a panic by yeah like I’d rather always you know if if there was no one out there and I I know was gone now at the time if they were both sort of thinking you know I want if they want a certain person to come over that siac or whoever it is I wouldn’t like I said I wouldn’t want them to rush and just pick anyone because it’s sort of away someone if they not going to do their job you want someone that would really fit into how we play um I don’t mind them you know waiting maybe until the summer if they wanted to bring in a really good Striker but I do think at the moment um there’s the argument as well with Sterling because like I think he’s not had a lot of game time as well so he’s not had time to prove himself um but I also think as well people probably feel as though he’s being like a panicked by um I do think we’re still I think if if we brought someone else in as well as him people wouldn’t be bothered people would be happy to have him but I think it’s because it sort of happened last minute but I don’t know if I believe it’s a panic by I just think obviously we St and going we had to bring someone else in and we know st’s got the experience he’s a very good player but I know obviously at Chelsea’s confidence probably is you know isn’t there and you’ve seen with havs as well his confidence went and he’s obviously doing really well right now but I do think Sterling needs more time but do you feel like Arsenal fans have judged him fairly or do you feel like it’s being a bit harsh Arsenal fans don’t give players time ever I don’t think they understand how difficult the system is that artetta adopts it’s not simple it’s extremely complex Arta asks a lot of his players and the level of the squad is incredibly high so if You’ come from a a setup that doesn’t deliver Champions League football isn’t in good shape and then you come to an artetta system the expectations are going to be higher so I think he’s found it difficult um but he’s still a good player he’s only 29 years old it’s not like we picked him up at 34 um I think that he can still do things for Arsenal I’m glad that he’s coming on as a sub and I’m sure that he’s going to have to be a valuable part of our mix over the next six weeks if we’re going to be successful I still think there’s a player in there and yeah Sterling has to play for his next loan move because Chelsea aren’t going to take him back in he needs a he needs another job so he’s gonna have to pick it up and I’m I I just hope that the problem isn’t that he’s not training well I hope that the problem is it’s just been difficult for him to get to the level that he needs to yeah I think I think like you said because this is only like alone I think another reason for him to do well is like to prove himself like he said because I I don’t I think obviously he’ll probably want I think he’ll be leaving Chelsea anyway when he goes back um because I think he you know maybe he’s not a player he used to be but I think there’s still a good player in him and it would be nice to see him help us with goals or just help us with the league because I know there’s been times where we struggle to score and obviously he can help with that but like we said he doesn’t ever get much game time and I don’t know if that’s because in the cup games he’s not not taking like a lot of his chances I mean you know what I watched him at the pressing game and I thought he works really hard and you don’t always see that on the TV like I can tell he works hard and he’s dribbling really well and he does that but obviously he’s not getting the goals he’s not getting like the assist that we need to see so do you feel that that’s maybe why Arta hasn’t really started him I don’t know I don’t know he works in mysterious ways sometimes he keeps players back because he’s trying to educate them sometimes he doesn’t play players because didn’t think they’re hitting the requisite effort levels um but Sterling’s a a proper professional he’s a winner um I just think that maybe artetta is biing his time there’s also the the other part of this he doesn’t have a long-term future Arsenal there’s no use in getting dependent on a player who’s going to go back to Chelsea so he’s going to use him sparingly um so there’s maybe part that that could be playing into the scenario as well if we got Evan Ferguson on loan and there was an option to buy you’d imagine that it might be a little bit different but Arsenal don’t want an option to buy a 29 year old and 350 Grand a week so maybe he’s just treating him as a as a bit of a puzzle piece rather than the main story that if we had him at 22 years old yeah def like you said I think as well because like you said he’s not a permanent you know solution he’s just going to be here and try and help us with you know goals and help us you know get us the silverware in these games so I feel like you said he’s not going to be part of our future he’s just sort of here for now so me I mean to be honest with you he wouldn’t really get in over sacker for me I think Saka always will start unless someone else comes in and does even better than Saka because saaka has just had a really good start the season and it unless he’s injured you know Sterling would obviously replace him but I think that’s another reason why I mean I wanted to um ask you actually a bit about jayus because um it’s you know what when the season started I thought you know what I did think maybe it would have been best to move him on but I I wanted to sort of give him a chance he’s had injuries and that’s affected him which is completely understandable but what has you sort of made of him because he has had chances he has played and ala has rotated him but it’s just a shame for me that he’s not really able to score the goals that we want him to score that’s it that’s it so I think he’s it’s all about Jesus and A’s when you get to this level and kby J Zeus is not really a g and A’s kind of guy 16 appearances one goal one assist and those G’s and A’s came in the League Cup it’s it’s not good enough I think he earns 230 240 Grand a week this is a guy bereft of confidence he’s got all the talent in the world but putting it in the net and making decisive actions just doesn’t have that skill at the moment so but he’s part of the squad and we know that he’s capable of he has a history of it he’s only 27 years old so um I know that the club were really excited about him at the start of the Season he’s got to start proving it on the pitch because if he doesn’t he’s out this summer yeah and you know what honestly like when I thought we would have actually he would have moved on in the summer but I I think as well you do need that depth because M you’re leaving we had to just have someone there in case h if ha gets injured then we’re in big trouble really because we don’t have a lot of options but I just genuinely want jayus to do well I mean like I said injuries can make you a different player they can you know you won’t be always the same player if you’ve had injuries and we we understand that but I i’ when I’ve seen him I’ve just felt a bit underwhelmed with some of his performances but I’d be interesting throughout the season because like you said if he’s not able to get us those goals or assists he will be off in the summer and I think it’s going to be interesting to sort of see which sort of players do you move on on because I know we also have TIY at Arsenal and I still forget his hair and yeah that’s crazy yeah poor titini yeah and this this is the nature of uh sport at the very highest level it’s absolutely brutal and you can be flavor of the month and then you can be out on your ass like you know yeah season later because you just don’t suit the system anymore and jayus and shenko were perfect weren’t they when they burst onto the scene we were like this is a level we’ve not seen before and now all of a sudden they’re a couple of bench players and you you know I think zinenko will probably be off in the summer I think Bay Munich were interested in him last year he’s still a a very good player and I think jayus might have to go to Spain or Italy to rekindle his career because so far it has not been good but um I will remind people I was doing analysis on jayus when it was rumored that we were going to sign him and I was like I don’t really want a striker that doesn’t score goals I don’t really want a striker in this system that isn’t um dominant from an aerial perspective and I’m pretty sure the season before we signed him uh lacazette had more goals to his name in February of that season and then jayus came into the side and then he just went on this wild run and he got like you know 14 15 goals at the tail end of the season and he was absolutely consequential to Manchester City winning the Premier League That season he has it in him and he does go in spurts so there’s it could it could turn around for it there’s a lot of Hope in that statement but it could turn around for it yeah because like you said like I remember when we signed him I know do you know I remember people were sort of talking would you have a him or a charlon and because at the time he was doing really well but like Jay Zeus at Man City he always stood out to me and he always F imagine him in this Arsenal team because there was a point like you said where him and shenko were like you’d always look you’d always look at the lineup and You’ hope that always starting they were so important like s jenko um I think I don’t if it was at the first season when we were challenging for the league but he did really well obviously helping us scoring goals in in the attacking sense he was very good I think we’ve always known that defensively e struggle but like it’s just crazy how it’s all turned out like this like um but yeah I think senchenko for me is a great player but I think you canot grow players sometimes like they were important for you then but they’re not now and I think that’s okay really because like you said football moves on like TI like I would never think you know when a few years ago we would be in this position where he wouldn’t be a part of the team anymore because obviously how win the FA Cup and he was just like I I wouldn’t ever say like he’s a legend I would think he’s just there but I always felt like he could have been one he was a fan favorite yeah loved him with his little Tesco bag yeah he was just so normal I love that yeah he was just such like a normal person and it things don’t work out sometimes in football and that’s just like how it goes um but I just wanted to ask you like with um the January transfer window um do you feel like we will bring anyone in because I know a few seasons back I’m pretty sure we brought trossard in in January and obviously that really helped us go on and that was amazing but I know sometimes not a lot goes on in January so do you think anything will happen I think there’s money but any money that we spend in January will be taken from the summer and I think summer is where you get better deals you’re not panicked you’re not breaking another team there’s no premium on the transfer fee but I think if there is a good opportunity to do something that could be done early I think they’ll take it I’m really interested in the Evan Ferguson rumors I know that Arsenal have been interested in him in the past he’s There’s an opportunity to get him on loan if there was an opportunity to get him on loan with an option to buy that that might be something that they want to activate I think having him as a second Striker at Arsenal would be pretty magnificent um I don’t I don’t see too many other opportunities I don’t know whether you’re getting a striker um outside somebody on Loan in January you’re certainly not getting the best options I don’t think you’re getting a a number six there’s lots of talk of zubba mendi going to Manchester City I just I just don’t see it I don’t think a team like cersa Dad who’ve got an opportunity with Europe are going to let a key player like that go without the the chance to replace them and then on the right side um you know back up to sacka we’re just gonna have to see if Sterling works I think Arsenal will probably keep it pretty standard I I don’t think that there are any glaring problems unless there’s a horrible injury and um hopefully there isn’t one of those yeah because that’s the thing because obviously now our injuries are you know pretty good and things are going good but you never know like you know if havs got injured or you know something like that in our Midfield we I think we should look at those options but I think with like the striker situation like you said I think we’d probably wait till the summer to bring the right person in if we are going to bring a striker in because I do think we need one but I I don’t think anything major would happen um in a j transfer but you just don’t know because it all depends on how we’re doing if things are going good for us then um you know the club might not think we need to you know make any changes but it would be nice to bring some you know someone in if we could it depends like you know Sterling could be flying and he could be doing amazing by that time and we might not need anyone yeah so things are so unpredictable like with the with the transfer window you just never know um but before we R this show up I just wanted to get your score prediction for the weekend because that game is going to be so good for us on last time hopefully yeah I I think it’s going to be either a one nil or like a four or five goal blowout I hope not yeah no no I that we would win that like I don’t think but the Newcastle games throw me a little bit didn’t expect West Ham to to to beat Newcastle but I don’t think they’re strong uh I think leesu is not really delivered I see a lot of upset West Ham fans um complaining about what he’s brought so I I think we’re gonna win I think but the the margin of win will be really interesting if we really if we really smack them up I think it could be um I think Arsenal fans will start getting excited that actually we can close the gap on Liverpool so I’m I’ll go 3-0 yeah I think yeah I think we’ll win um do you I would like to De M to play if he’s fit because it’ll just feel you know with with the West Ham fans I think they’re still not over it well they’ll have a bit of tension there anyway but and it would be great to see him put in a really good performance um but even without him I think we’re good enough to win there um yeah I think I’m might you I think two or three N I think it would be quite a comfortable win but you know what you just never know because there’s times where they beat us and you wouldn’t think they would um but like you said if there was a Newcastle W that would surprise me that but I think with’ all form at the moment I think the team will have confidence to win and to go there and get those three points but I just hope we can get a win um and it’ll be interesting as well with the Liverpool game
