it happened again literally 14 seconds after I uploaded the trade reaction to Devin Williams to the Yankees Kyle Tucker got shipped to the Chicago Cubs of course because that’s always what happens to me by the way the Yankees are reportedly furious at the Astros because they think that they had a better trade package for a ky Tucker and it just seems like the owner of the Astros Jim Crane wanted to trade with everyone but the Yankees it’s as simple as that before we talk about what the Astros are getting in return for Kyle Tucker let’s talk about the to be 28-year-old meast star Tucker himself Kyle Tucker is instantly now the best player on the Cubs even though the Cubs have a lot of star power like a Cody Bellinger a Dansby Swanson C Tucker is better than all of those guys Kyle had backto back 100 RBI seasons in 2022 and 2023 he was fifth in MVP in 2023 now he did miss a lot of time in 2024 with a shin issue and that hasn’t helped out his athleticism his Sprint speed his defense has really slipped but that should be back in order when he’s healthy in 2025 but here’s the thing about Kyle Tucker even though he was basically playing on one leg Kyle somehow put up maybe his best offensive season ever who knows if it would have lasted into 150 games but he had 23 home runs a 410 on base percentage and a 180 Ops plus again on one leg not only that but he legitimately tore the cover off of baseball if you take a look at his exit velocities and his Barrel percentages they are some of the best for any outfielder in baseball they’re even comparable to wano now I still would take Juan sto over Kyle Tucker but I wanted to give a crazy stat to put Kyle Tucker into context and I found one I dug it up Kyle Tucker is one of seven outfielders ever to have a 100 doubles 100 home runs 80 stolen bases and a 145 Ops plus from ages 24 to 27 the other six to do that Barry bonss Willie Mays Vladimir Guerrero senior Mike Trout Prime Andrew McCutchen and a guy who was he good Daryl strawberry all of the guys that we just talked about had Hall of Fame talent and whether it was wasted or not that’s insane company to be in the only stain so far on Kyle Tucker’s resume is the lack of success in the playoffs has he won a World Series or two yes he has but he has a 685 Ops in October when we compare that to the all-time playoff choker and Aaron judge who has an almost 800 Ops in the playoffs it’s kind of crazy that we just have forgotten Kyle Tucker has not gotten it done but again that aside he is in L the Cub’s best player he’s going to be playing right field every single day so what does that mean for a SE Suzuki what about a Cody Bellinger well to me I feel like Cody Bellinger his dad played for the Yankees Kay Bellinger Cody is going to be a Yankee because he’s not going to play first base that is Michael Bush’s position he’s not going to be a DH because his defense is far too valuable Cody Bellinger is going to be a Yankee I’m calling it I wonder if seya is going to be okay being a full time DH because if you guys don’t remember seya Suzuki won a couple go gloves in Japan now defensively in the m maor leagues it has not translated well at all he was bad in 2023 and 2024 when he was moved to the full-time DH down the stretch last year he put up a 910 Ops plus as a main DH Ellinger is not going to play center field because Pete CW Armstrong is a generational Defender and he was a lightning rod offensively down the stretch he was one of the better offensive rookies in baseball and also he’s a generational Defender like I said he’s a gazelle out there he reminds me of a Kevin km he’s that good now let’s talk about what the Astros got in turn for their Mega star and again the Yankees submitted an offer as well we’ll talk about that right after we talk about who the Astros got the Astros are getting three players isach petus and Hayden wesneski those are the two big league players and they’re also getting the 14th overall pick from a few months ago cam Smith we’ll get into him in just a moment let me talk about ISO petus first because he’ll be 26 years old in February I did not realize he was still that young in 2023 he popped off for 31 home runs 98 RB and a 130 Ops Plus for the Rays in the first half last year he had 16 home runs and a near 130 Ops plus again then he got dealt to the Cubs and it did not work well at all before the trade people worried about his power to left field it was easier to pull a baseball in Tropicana than it was in Wrigley with that wind and the reason why they thought that it makes a lot of sense because all 72 of his career home runs have been pulled to left field he has not hit one to Center or right field all 72 yeah he’s yanked it he’s pointing his PCI this way but to left to left so ISO petus with the Crawford boxes in minute Mid Park is going to be absolutely insane he takes his walks he doesn’t whiff or strike out a lot he plays decent defense at best he’s been known to play third baseman mostly but he can play first and second base he’s not going to play second base with Jose Altuve unless Altuve gets a day off I like this move pedus to the Crawford boxes is going to be Cinema the other big league player starting pitcher reliever Hayden West neski if that name sounds familiar that’s because he was traded back in 202 from the Yankees to the Cubs in exchange for Scott epost fros I can’t remember how to say it Hayden he really impressed as a rookie at a 2.18 year rate his first 33 Innings he fell off in 2023 the walks and home runs absolutely torched him then in 2024 the 3.9 e Ray was not Amazing by any stretch of the imagination but he upped the strikeouts while lowering the hits per nine home runs per nine and walks yeah when you’re striking out more guys and limiting those three that’s very very very good and the only non-big Leaguer in this is 22y old or he’s going to be 22 years old in February cam Smith this dude was drafted a couple months ago he was drafted 14th overall he had a monster season at Florida State he almost hit 390 he batted 387 with 16 home runs in 66 games that is a three 55 slugging he made it to pro ball so in his first stint at pro ball over the course of going from low a to high a he was promoted to doublea over the course of all of those games just recently he hit 3113 with a near 400 on base in his first pro season cam Smith could be really really good by the way I completely forgot to mention that cam Smith is a infielder he played a lot of third base now the Astros still have Shay Wickham who I really really like but if Shay does not fix his defense he’s not going to be the third baseman and that was a big reason why the Astros declined the offer from the Phillies Alec bow and Nick cosos they do not trust Alec bom’s defense at third base so they believe in cam Smith this is a pretty good trade if isach Pettis gets flipped in a few years cam Smith he’ll fill right in and there you have it Kyle Tucker is on his way to the Cubs in exchange for isach Petes Hayden West neski and cam Smith do you like that trade because now I have to ask do you like that trade or this Yankees trade offer more this is not gospel take this with a grain of salt but the reports are that the yanies are completely pissed right now because their offer was Lis heel who was better than Hayden wesneski he just won Rookie of the Year Ben rice was also in the conversation as well there was also some talk of throwing in some prospects like a will War a lot of people think that he’s going to be a future Ace or at least a two or three starter so people are saying that the Yankees trade offer was better but the Astros chose to take the Cubs offer because they’re not the Yankees that’s the only reason why at this point which trade offer would you have taken maybe you even would have taken the Phillies offer of Alec bow and Nick cosos for Kyle Tucker which trade offer was the best and what do you make of Kyle Tucker being 2020 Leisa has a combined 2.8 year R and a 3.3 FIP out the pen that’s really really really good if Leisa and fros can stay healthy Luke Weaver continues on his dominant stretch and Devon Williams is the air bender that we all know and love the Yankees Bullpen is easily going to be one of the best in baseball all over again and they’ve always had a pretty good Bullpen this is Hing up to be a great one
