yeah we got the the sports wire here in big news in Chicago they fired Matt eberflus the coach this morning what’s really weird is he did his postgame press conference last night he did his after game day after press conference today and within the hour they had another press conference announcing he was gone had to happen uh when you’re 14 and 32 as head coach when the organization is giving you every player you wanted in free agency or via trade when you have the high draft pick and the kid doesn’t make enough progress and you fired both the offensive coordinators that you yourself hired you can’t stay with Matt EOS and then you had the quote cluster F that happened at the end of of that Chicago Bears Thanksgiving Day game uh they need somebody with offensive credentials to come in to work with the kid Caleb Williams but that thing that was a disaster what happened at the end of that Bears game when they got up off the mat and came back can nearly beat the Detroit Lions only to screw it up on the final drive and final possession so he is gone that’s the third head coach has lost his job in the season in Minnesota this was a bit of a surprise they’re having a great season this relationship Kevin O’Donnell and Sam darnold the quarterback has worked really well oh Connell has just he’s able to speak Darnell’s language and he’s resurrected his career to the point that Sam’s going to be probably the comeback Player of the Year might not have a job though because Minnesota just signed Daniel Jones who just got released bought out put on the street corner by the New York football Giants and Jones chose Minnesota over other places where he could actually go and play immediately he’s going to learn the system he’ll be the backup he’ll be the insurance in case anything happens but looking looking down road I don’t they can’t keep all these guys so you got darnold who’s on a one-year contract you got Daniel Jones who could effectively be the quarter back of the future or be a free agent and you got JJ McCarthy who’s recovering from the knee surgery they spent a first round draftback it’s a fascinating thing as to why J Daniel Jones chose that place but it’d be interesting there next topic on the table all things National Hockey League Paul banet NHL tough guy turn broadcaster really become a fabulous personality covering NHL games in studio for TNT he was the restaurant in Scottdale who lives there six guys were drunk get in an argument started to hassle the manager of the restaurant what so Paul interceded try to get these guys to stop it they took the thing outside the guy got jumped by six drunks beat the crap out of them whoa they’re messing with the wrong guy yeah yeah because Paul Binet was a tough guy as an NHL Winger so anyhow they the cops came they arrested all six of the guys binette was back on TV this weekend black eyes and all but you messed with the wrong guy yeah I don’t think they knew who the hell he was right and he was just trying to play Peacemaker all the all the patrons in the restaurant said no this guy was asking these people to leave they don’t want you here and then he walked outside and got jumped amazing amazing story and the last topic on the table LV golf Saudi Arabia blood Money took 35 guys on the PGA two or three years ago and the livv has made no impact globally at all on the golf world except it’s made a lot of guys like Phil melson and Dustin Johnson those guys really rich they terminated Greg Norman the CEO he’s out he’s he was the point man that lured all these guys with the Saudi checkbook and he was the one that I think was really blocking the success of these merger negotiations between the PGA and the livv and at the end of the day yeah have developed the next group of stars on the PGA tour but the TV Radiance for both tours have absolutely gone into the gutter and they they still don’t have this merger done because now there’s investigations there antitrust violation Etc but Greg Norman will not be the point man representing the livv so maybe this thing will move forward so John D bears not very good no like the Vikings just make sure when you’re arguing with somebody in a bar not an NHL tough guy and talk about Greg Norman well the Greg Norman firing makes sense because they haven’t been able to get the things solved so you got to get new leadership that can kind of work a deal um the NHL story is kind of funny in a way you know but uh yeah you don’t mess with I think of other like tough guys like Marty Murley and those are guys you don’t want to piss off these guys obviously weren’t hockey fans are in Scottsdale Arizona where there’s no longer an NHL team but I you know I I know this guy I’ve know of him I’ve seen his his work on TV is really funny it’s hilarious he he speaks like a freaking cop like a tough guy and he’s always enunciating well if it were me in the corner I’d do this to that guy who hit my star is that’s who he is see that’s it’s like the Charles Barkley of hockey exactly you know like he’ll just speak his mind and get you get the insight to what’s really going on in their head when they’re on the on the court or on the ice so that’s great I mean the the Vikings thing my my suspicion is is that Daniel Jones wanted to go somewhere that he could maybe get a ring but at the same time I worry is Sam darnold gonna be looking over his shoulder I don’t think so because you can’t take a guy off the street and give him a 200 Page Playbook and digest it and be ready to play on Sunday that’s not going to happen so but Jones will go through a learning curve with Kevin oconnell and Jones has never played with a good team around him I mean he his career career was so sidetracked by injuries and and monstrous sacks and I think I quoted you last week Daniel Jones started 70 games with the New York Giants he was 24 and 44 I think as a starter and he threw 70 touchdowns in 70 games I think he turned it over 50 some times took 208 sacks it was just a bad organization bad team and then by the way they let saquin Barkley go across the state line to the Philadelphia Eagles in the division so he’s in much better place there’ll be a learning curve there and we’ll just see whether he stays whether Donald stays uh we don’t know about JJ McCarthy coming back from this major miniscus Terror injury surgery so somebody’s going to be a starter one of the other guys will probably leave sounds like the 49ers a few years ago when they had Trey Lance and Jimmy G but so but still McCarthy is gonna be the guy I mean once he’s healthy right healthy and goes through the learning curve okay that’s different I mean you’re on the field as a raw rookie you yes Caleb Williams yes Jaden Daniels big storyline in Washington this week the Redskins lost three in a row the Redskins I me yes the Cleveland Indians too yeah um commanders commanders Jaden Daniel said he admitted I’ve hit a wall this is a long season yeah kind of and he’s his play has started to come down a notch or two and he was carrying them so when you talk about JJ McCarthy that’s not instant success when you’re a raw rookie well it’s like that on all the sports they play so many more games at the pro level than at the college level yeah I can see how they would hit a wall because they’re they’re young you know they don’t really they’re probably so emotional and worked up to start the season yeah your football you’re drafted you starting OTAs in April and May and they go to training camp and then you you play that and then you do the whole season and that preparation and you’re going to hit a wall somewhere and so we’re getting December 1st and Jaden Daniels has admitted to Washington yeah I’ve kind of hit a wall now it’s interesting because the only rookie who’s arrows projected up is playing really well is in Denver B Knicks oh yeah and he started slowly he’s got I didn’t realize this till this week he’s got 20 touchdowns and only six picks and he’s not playing on a great team but he’s gotten progressively better and better and better as we’ve gone well you used to always say he’s a systems quarterback but maybe he’s a lot more than that well she he’s playing for a mad scientist who he doing a good job Shawn Payton system obviously fits his kid and he doesn’t have a lot of great skilled people around him yet they’re they’re going to fix this and they’re going to build it he’s had he’s had a remarkable season he has not hit a wall interesting you know Caleb Williams I’m I want him to be successful I want the Bears to be relevant again but even Caleb Williams didn’t look sharp at times during that game last and there’s panic and and the blocking is terrible and you know he’s had games where you saw the flashes throw for 333 yards he had back toback 300 games he said yeah but he’s also had games where he was six for 21 and got sacked nine times so he is not in a good situation with a team around him at this point and obviously there’s coaching issues because they fired two coordinators now Chicago is a mess and by the way Winter’s coming to Chicago too so winter is coming it’s like
