Christmas by the way boxing day today I hope everybody had a a great Christmas Day and had themselves a big old turkey and uh have spent some quality time with family um that’s what I did yesterday um big family my sister my wife’s sister her brother um grandmother the whole shebang my two daughters were there we had a big old turkey uh my favorite cranberry sauce and potatoes and of course the gravy oh and stuffing stuffing is one of my favorites but overall I had a great Christmas I hope you guys did too um but let’s get things started welcome to East Coast Blue Jays all right so today’s discussion um I did a little content earlier about bulette um trading there’s a lot of trade rumors going around and uh he’s coming up on his last year of his contract next year um right now he’s on a three-year contract uh that he signed in 2023 for $33 million um but yeah so he’s got one more year left sold is vlat vat’s on his last year contract as well um but we’ll see uh we’ll see what happens but I know there’s a lot of trade rumors going on but anyway we’ll see what happens but uh blatty like as far as B um I I don’t think we should trade I think we should keep I think we should keep him long term the boy can hit um he led the American League and hit in two years he hit it let me see here it was uh 2022 and 2023 um let me see so so in 2021 Bo had 191 hits in 2022 he had 189 HS and both became the fastest player the hit 500 ks in the time spent with the team um and don’t forget he’s got some pop um so the year that he had 200 so the year the Year 2021 he has 191 hits that was his first outbreak year um that year he had uh 30 second base hits had 30 doubles and he had 29 home runs and he drove and over 102 uh RBI that’s pretty good for for a 23y old kid and uh let see he did start got 137 times that year but uh the following year the next year um he led the American League in hitting again with 189 hits and he drove in 93 and he had 24 home so he’s not a big time on hitter if you want to push guys ahead um he’s the guy uh that you want at the bat B is loaded he’s the guy who’s going to get ahead for you um usually they got they tried him a few times at the first um first the lineup second lineup um so he’s usually one and two sometimes four sometimes three last year he was our best hitter for a while um cuz the first half half of the Season GL he was doing much of anything so uh but is is B can stay healthy he uh he he’s a guy to be not mess um but yeah he’s SE uh he seem to be getting hurt the last year and a half has been getting hurt a lot and uh he’s just his right calf I don’t know what’s going on with it it’s quad um so it started off so august 19 2023 uh the blue J activate so he was hurt for August 19th they activ activated him off the when he was hurt so again he was put on a 10day injured list August 28th so everything started around August 2023 but whatever he did right quads strange whatever but the way he swings he just wants to kill the ball and uh it some something kind of reminds me of all Addison Barger he he’s he’s got the same kind of killer like he want to kill ball he want he wants to take the threads out of the leather of the ball and uh but yeah bichette’s got the killer swing and he just wants to drive it to the moon and uh maybe the way he swing they hurt himself a little twitch spr his ankle um but yeah listeners um because I didn’t have this before and you guys were not hearing me very good but like anyway like I was saying um I like bulit and when he started getting attack in August 2023 whatever problem he was having with his right quads um it was a quad strain then it was a right calf strain so whatever’s going on in his right leg maybe the way he swings um it’s causing a lot of lot of problems with he he had problems throughout 2024 he he came back in the 2024 season he was good right up to June then he started get hurt again calf injury another calf injury he was s down to Buffalo bis and re then then he came back and he was fine after that and uh then he injured his right middle finger he fractured it actually and then he was pretty much he was done for the year and uh hopefully uh he can turn his hopefully hopefully he can turn his self around because we need him he’s a great header and uh to be in order for the Blue Jays to be successful it’s going to be uh it’s going to be great okay okay all right so we’ll shut that off if the music on the running video of the highlights of B can be adjusted down okay all right how about I just shut it off I’m just going to shot I didn’t realize that was still running but uh hopefully uh hopefully that helps out a bit great thanks I really appreciate that doc that means a lot um like I said I’m just here to here to just to uh spread the rumors no I’m not going to spread the rumors I’m just going to see what the latest trade rumors are um potential signing signings trades we did um I know there’s a lot of we may we did make a great trade there not too long ago with u Andre yamz I I think that’s going to be that’s a great trade I love that trade um it’s going to definitely help bul bashad out a lot as you know if you’ve watched the Jays for the last four or five years bashed has made a lot of a lot of heirs and um it’s uh it’s kind of hard to watch you know he is young but uh hopefully watching these two guys go at her in the center and stra down the center of the defense infield um it’s going to be fun to watch hopefully their bats wake up because it’s been quite a quite a boring last couple years very hard to watch like I said I’m going to watch still watch every game and uh see what happens but yeah anyway it is what it is he um but uh like I said this this guy get hits this guy this guy getting hits 200 hits he’s going to get if he stays healthy this year mark my word December 24th he’s going to he’s going to hold TOS he’s probably going to get between 20 to 30s is coming here I’m saying he is healthy he rep place for the whole year and he’s going to get close to hit over 100 RBI he did it once he get 102 got one year and he’s going to I he’s going to lead the league again there’s a lot of Bobby [Music] J we maybe could trade for Bobby why not I’d go for that um but yeah I don’t think he’ll get I don’t think he’ll leave the leag I think he’ll be well close to 200 I think his average will be close to 300 I think he’s going to be an allar if he stays healthy that’s what I think is going to happen that’s my wishful thinking what’s going to happen [Music] like I said his uh his defense is uh definitely needs to improve and he needs to watch his fellow other Defenders that’s in the Outfield remember that play and the infield but I remember this play very well I was like okay it’s 96 top of the top of the night hly think the only way we make a big step forward is to increase payroll yeah well we have to we have to um I know a lot of our money is uh going towards um our pitching staff there’s a lot of money invested in our pitching staff and that’s great yeah there it’s gone sorry my bad my bad when I was making a video earlier I had that music going on so maybe uh I might have to leave that out it’s kind of a distraction to uh yeah thanks for letting me know I appreciate that um but yeah I do remember I do remember that postseason wild American League wild card game against the Seattle Mariners and the Toronto Blue Jays uh I mean nine six top of the top of the eth the crowd standing cheering then they’re like yeah Jordan our best closure or best pitcher at the time Jordan Romano in the eighth inning he just brought him in John Snider brought him in and Bas is loaded okay pop up and what happens it was a complete disaster I couldn’t believe it Bas is the base is cleared and the lad ended up in second while two of our guys still laying on the outfields um it was it was so disappointing oh my God it was it was hard to watch definitely hard to watch um but and then and then the following year um we had the Minnesota Twins remember that a few years ago oh Jose Bros was up and what it do Happ happened John Snider brought in Kikuchi and uh that was it I was like why’ you do that I think Jose AB Brios had 47 pitches and I think it was the fourth in inning and he was just rolling he was he was Wheeling why would you do that that’s that’s what I don’t understand and like I don’t know what they do with they do I’m so pissed off about it like come on come on boys but anyway so as you know if you if you’re a ball player you watch you watch how the players pitching or hitting or catching and oh he’s doing good we’ll leave him in for maybe another inning or maybe we’ll leave leave him in for another another batter and see how he goes just keep going keep rolling with it but yeah if he gets in trouble if you holds the bases and he can’t find the strike zone and then yeah go out and talk to him and take him out but that’s not what happened but yeah this game towards I think the AUD recognize you can’t spend 3 for renovations and not put a competitive team on the field well yeah they spent a lot of money at the Rogers Center looks nice bringing in fans but as you probably know um a lot of fans are just boycotting the team they’re said if you’re not going to sign vlat I ain’t going you can make as you can make it make the face as pretty as you can and uh I would I think Don should recognize you can’t spend 300400 renovation put comp team on yeah you think they recognized but it does show that um they were really trying to get Juan sto it’s last year I don’t want to remember that but this year them going after one sold I was like okay okay let’s do this um maybe uh yeah what can you do he um yeah I don’t understand I don’t understand the ball I don’t understand organiz organization at all um you go after one toal you offer him over $700 million which is crazy that’s it’s just not worth it you can’t win with one guy you can’t I’m sorry but you can’t but if you’re Rogers they got billions of dollars and if you did defer a lot of it which a lot of teams are doing now then okay why not but if you have a whole nation I mean all of Canada that are watching the Blue Jays from east to Coast to West Coast um why not spend a lot of money yeah spend money but uh I don’t know I don’t understand and as far as Vladimir ger Jr um good kudos for him I wouldn’t sign I wouldn’t sign for less like now that his fellow U Dominican Republic friend on solo got all that kind of money he’s going to wait he’s going to wait for the big payout he’s he’s going to wait right till the end unless that’s my dog but uh yeah there obviously a big increase in Peril can change things if they bite the bullet for a couple of years hovering around 300 million in payroll a ton of money is coming off the books in a couple of years yes so you’re suggesting um yeah I yeah I agree I agree so yeah how do you feel about deferring like I don’t know it just it just kind of makes it unfair I I think like okay defer but there’s no eventually there’s going to be a salary cap just like Danny chel has you got a limit money to to spend and that’s it and if you go over that you’re going to be taxed you’re going to you’re going to get a fine or whatever you’re going to you’re going to pay if you’re going to go over the salary cap you’re going to have to pay um I think it’s going to get to that eventually um but yeah it’s crazy look look at the Dodgers man oh my God mind you I don’t like the Dodgers I don’t there’s a lot of people here on the East Coast love the Dodgers um there a lot of Canadians that do love the Dodgers too you know there’s a lot of I’m from New Brunswick east coast and there’s a lot of Bost and Red Sox fans around here you know because we’re not too far from Boston right we’re probably 11h hour drive from Boston I think um but yeah it’s far myself I’m a big um Blue Jays fan I want the best I mean I know we can’t win every year I know we’re not going to be great every year but when we got great players to work with we got to do something you know we got great players right now and we got to build around them and what have we been doing we just we just been getting rid of them like a tail I love tail like come on and then they got rid of Morano and Geral Jr for Vero and I do like Vero a lot I do like him but they gave up two great pit they gave him two great P players Morano was the he was just young kid learning look at him he he helped Arizona dime backs go right to the World Series so that was kind of a that was kind of a dagger to the hurt uh yes doc uh the front office wants to save their job of course they do possible strike next year lots of reason to spend big and defer payments isn’t that isn’t the worst idea yeah a strike next year h i just the first I’ve heard of that I know there was I remember the strike back when the Montreal Expos were still around and they were a team to beat they were had they were the team to win the World Series that year I forgot what year that was but I do remember the Expos my God they had a great team um but yeah it was the year that they could have won the World Series and then they decided oh there’s a Canadian team in there I gotta go on strike but uh yeah it’s uh yeah but any yeah we need to spend money we got the money spend the money Expos would have won that strike here yeah I know they would have you’re freaking right they would have um but unfortunately they did and we lost out on that well I’m might to beig Expos fan but um I I will just I will support them um I don’t I don’t know if they’ll ever come back I know they’ve been really trying it’s not like they don’t have a fan base they have a big fan base um but they didn’t want to they have a they probably needed a new stadium the stadium that they got now is it’s not very uh uh user friendly I guess what you can say it’s like a stadium link the Tampa Bay Tampa Bay Stadium it’s not very not very nice it’s not a it’s not like a ball it’s not a great ballpark more or less no the Rogers they have they have a great ballpark now excuse me gota go drink my Tims got to love the Tims oh yes sir you know that tastes too good it’s getting a little cold though what about Kirk contract I don’t know what about Kirk contract let’s find out about the Kirk contract I don’t know much about Kirk is it is it Kirk’s last year just let me do a search here Kirk Kirk contract I do like Kirk he he does play uh he does he is a good um back leader for sure um um Toronto Blue J um I do like him you know he’s if it wasn’t for his lack of speed um he he’d be a great ball player he was an Allstar he was an Allstar he was an Allstar back in 2022 um what is what is he making what’s his salary wage here so he was born in California in Mexico or California it says California maybe raised in California but he’s a Mexican boy yeah I can’t I don’t know uh not sure what he what what’s his salary is all right I’ll find give me a sack I do apologize Kirk here we go all right so no that’s not right either salary come on help me out here salary okay well it says that uh here we go I found it sorry about that all right Kirk catcher of the Toronto Blue JS has a base salary of $2.8 million wow that’s upsetting man if I only made Maybe 800,000 a year wouldn’t that be great um but 2022 his salary is 74 in 2023 767,000 and then this base price for 2024 he’s making $2.8 million so uh yeah so it looks like he’s into his uh last year with the Blue Jays um will they sign them how much will what he get what’s his base salary so if he keeps pitching like or if he keeps catching and heading well if he if he keeps catching like he’s catching and if he keeps if he keep if he hits like he did in his Allstar season that he had in 2022 um he’s probably projected to get paid you know like but I don’t know hard to say what the what Kirky is gonna C is going to do I do like him um is he our best catcher of course you know all right back here well yeah what can you do boys say back to Bow oh yeah got that got can here um [Music] [Music] but yeah I don’t know much about Kirk but uh there’s nothing really going on with Kirk I know there’s lots going on with Vladimir um he uh pretty sad that uh they low balled Vladimir Guerrero found out there the other day uh the Blue Jays Ross Atkins offered the him a 7-year deal of I think it was $151 Million which is like wow okay great but also he vad blatty did come off um an an MVP year that was the year that Shai sh Otani um won the MVP he won it again this year but I was the year uh Vladimir came in second place and then Ross Atkins decided to come gave him an offer $7 million 151 million that’s like a slap in the face like come on boys like that’s just that’s just not right um but the recent one um they offered him let me see here I want to get my numbers right before uh I say anything yeah that’s what I was it was s years for $150 million that was back in 2021 and the new contract or the new all [Music] right all right so I believe the recent one was was if maybe I’m wrong I think it was for like 300 million for over let me see here okay oh it was 340 million that’s what it was um so Guerrero to sign he’s look he’s projected to get his well his sport spot track projects a gual is to to be signed for a 12year $427 million deal on the open market so next year um that’s what his potential um numbers are showing here um but uh yeah I don’t know if he’s going to get that he’s he is a $400 man from one sold getting $765 million which I think the whole world knows about it right now uh just drove everybody’s average base average up and now that high Market teams are deferring money um it’s really driving it up so everything is starting to drive up and the sad part of it all is is the people that enjoy watching the game on TV the people that enjoy watching the games at the stadiums are going to be paying a lot more for tickets for merchandise for foods periods you know um that’s the sad thing about it like oh great pay the guy but what’s going to happen who’s going to be paying the guy it’s the fans are going to be paying for a lot of this stuff and uh it’s just got it’s just yeah it’s going to be sad but anyway it is what it is there’s big money there’s big money in ball it always was baseball’s been over it’s been here for over 100 plus years I don’t know how many years but it’s been around for a long time and it’s it the money is just crazy I don’t believe mono should have deserved to get that I I don’t believe that sha High believed that or should have gotten that kind of money last year um but yeah it’s just all this deferred stuff I don’t I don’t like that at all um it’s going to hurt like I said it’s going to hurt the fans but it’s definitely going to hurt the small budget teams small budget teams like your Pittsburgh Pirates your Tampa Bay Rays [Music] your other teams like Chicago White Socks like all these low budget teams and Minnesota Twins too like they don’t have a lot of money they don’t have huge fan bases they may I could be wrong but but teams like Los Angeles Dodgers the New York Yankees they have a huge huge fan base so they can play with a lot of money they can keep bringing high and players in but uh yeah but yeah I hope you all like um this content he was there and it was just a pregame and he had a home run and he had hair like this hey there’s Vladimir guer so this one this is an old one so this is probably worth billions hey this one’s worth billions yeah right so we’ll put Vladimir Gro back in the in the Box we’ll keep him there we’ll keep him protected and uh yeah so yeah that’s some of the almost few of the guests that I’ve gotten and of course I got this it’s not a really auth authen Jersey but it’s a nice little blue jays it still has the Blue Jays logo on the side so I also got that and this one over here it’s my Donaldson Jersey I had I got that years ago I’m a big Josh Donaldson fan Mr MVP the bringer of rain remember that yeah uh we we got a lot of great players for the Blue Jays that played with us a lot of great years a lot of great years cheers to that but yeah so what do you do what do you do with Bo would you sign him would you trade him I meaning would you trade him now would you trade a midseason would you wait until they off season next year but hopefully sign them or not sign them what would you do what would I do for one I would not trade them but the only reason why I would trade him if he continues getting hurt because within within the last year and a half he’s been a prone of getting hurt and if his his if his calf strain his right calf keeps getting hurt there’s a major problem there I know many of my family members I know one very very very close to me close to my hair soon as you hurt your back soon as you hurt your back it hurt your leg it hurt your foot it’s all connected and uh it’s you can’t heal from that so that that injury is Le leering back to him and if it keeps coming back then maybe yeah we’re g to have to trade him but he is Young he is 26 25 26 now and uh he’s a great hitter he’s has potential to hit 20 to 30 home runs he has potential to bring in 100 runs or 100 RBI and he can probably steal he can probably steal off the 30 bases I got high hopes with this guy and he can probably hit while over 300 I mean he’s a damn good player his father played played for the for the pro for the MLB years ago so he’s got a lot of backup a lot of help over the years um he’s keep he keeps close to vlat they help each other out um I remember when vat was struggling Bo was helping him talking him talking him out it’s cuz you know like you can do this man like don’t forget who you are you know you can hit the ball you’re vat you know he motivated vat and finally vatti came out of it now look at him he’s back to himself and I hope flatty is back to his old self but yeah but besides flatty besides B was talking with somebody else how about George Springer huh Joe is he’s coming I think his best years are pretty much gone I think uh he might have a couple years left in him I think he’s another guy that’s coming up contract another year or two um but they got to play him he’s getting paid a lot of money right now you know I think it’s almost 28 30 th000 he’s getting 30 million he’s getting paid per year um but yeah Springer so all right so right now as we speak as the top of my head there goes my dog burking he wants to come in and I’m all let him in but right now catcher Kirk first base flatty second base um Andre yamz yamz I think I I think I said that wrong he’s gold Glover Short Stop B bashet Third Base H there couple two potential players you can probably put in there you would put a Ernie Clement or Addison Barger so one of those two you can put in there one of those to unless you go out get a player on the free agent right now Alex uh Bergman or Ardon there’s two third basemen right now the Jays can probably pick up um Ardon his defensive play has came to calm down his his uh his Bat has hasn’t been as great so he is kind of in the decline but um he has said that he’s willing he’s willing to uh play for space so and yeah but recently there was a tray that was going to happen and I’m pretty sure it was between Alex bregman and uh Nolan Ardon and he stopped it he didn’t want to get traded to the Houston Astros can you blame him Astros are cheaters they’re a cheating organization and they shouldn’t have won that year they shouldn’t have won a World Series that year they’re cheaters um and they’ll always be known as cheaters but anyway uh back to the Blue Jays so Third Base Ernie Clement or barer that’s who we have right now and if we were going to pick up a free agent Alex bragman pick him up sign them get her done come on we got money so or if not him put vlat at at third put vlat at third and perhaps sign Pete Alonso he’s available that guy’s been averaging over 40 home runs a year he’s getting well over 100 RBI so put him at first and put flatty at third but top of my head I’m thinking well if I put vlat up third he’s not going to be able to play out the position for me many years because he’s a big boy and he can’t he won’t be able to cover so much Fields but you could sign Pete Alonzo for say a threeyear fouryear contract and vlat is still a young man at 26 so by that when the contract is up put vlat back at first or put vlat at DH I mean you never know what’s going to happen I mean if they want to be if the J’s want to be competitive this year um they’re going to have to get these players so as far as the Outfield I think our center field has been taken or has been clearcut with uh Dalton barall but I I’m pretty sure he had shoulder surgery so he’s going to be ill for the beginning of the season for a little while I’m not sure for how long but he’s going to be yed briefly um so center field Dalton verel um left field there’s a few players you can put there um you can put uh Davis Snider I love that kid I hope uh he did have a remember he had he had a he had a great breakout time at the beginning of his of his career just starting out I remember watching watching the Boston series in B at Fenway Park David snau he was just hitting everything I was like where did this guy come from and he’s just he’s a beast that he just just that gu got that guy’s buffed and but you can tell he’s looking after himself so he’s conditioned um so if we can get David SNY the way he was back then to now look out Jays you know so yeah so Davis Snider and left field you can put Davis or you can put uh laao fetto he’s he he just got picked up last year from Houston Jay picked him up from Houston last year um that’s when they gave up kuchi yeah kuchi went to Houston and we got leero sorry um but yeah they he can they can put him or Schneider so one of the the two but if I had a choice I would pick Snider all right so right Fields who we going to put in right Fields there’s a couple options there’s Burger you can put burger lero and there’s really nobody else that pops in my head so we’re kind of hurting in that field so if I was Ross Atkins which I’m not I would I would be searching for a right-handed Fielder and you know what there’s a few of them that are available and I’m and I’m surprised they’re not signed it you know who they are TA Hernandez and Anthony sander Anthony s sander played for the Baltimore Orioles last last year that guy had 44 homers last year and uh Teo had I think 33 or something like that so they were both hitting balls out of the perk class year and getting lots of RBIs let me look what ta ta tar did last year look what he did for the Blue Jays in the past so I would sign both I would I would sign Tao put him at right field and I would sign Santander for the DH position I would so yeah so that’s my lineup um as far as the starting pitches we’re in pretty good shape and there’s a possibility that we may um sign carbon Burns that’s pretty big if we do he’s asking for a lot of money he’s looking for a long contract um right now it’s between the Blue Jays in San Francisco and possibly Boston and I think the Dodgers are always still there um but yeah but I know well it’s my understanding he preferred he would prefer to play for San Francisco Giants only because he’s from the LA area he’s from that area and that’s where his family is from that’s where he was raised so why wouldn’t you but he can go live there after he’s retired come play for Canada come play for your Canadian team and uh we’ll show you the respect we’ll give you lots of love Corbin Burns come sign with us and we’ll make we’ll guarantee we’ll support you we’ll Cherry you on but yeah if we get him then we can take Rodriguez out of the lineup and put him in the ballpen and right now our ballpen looks little not so great we did get yamy Garcia back which um very happy with that I was I was pretty pissed off last year when they got rid of him but for good reason um I’m glad we had the opportunity to sign the Yami again that was a big pickup oh coffee time cheers but yeah that’s pretty much uh all I wanted to talk about today um like I said Merry Christmas to you all I hope you all had a a great day yesterday Boxing Day don’t forget your Boxing Day sales you know don’t forget your there’s probably Toronto Blue Jay’s Jersey that are on sale right now um not I have no affiliation with tonal Blue Jays I wish I was show me the money but uh yeah I’m pretty excited for the upcoming season um I’m always excited for the upcoming season I’m not too excited about the position that we’re at right now we’re pretty in hot water but every year like this every year is every team struggles to find the best fit for their ball team and trying to figure things out and you know and if it all it all really starts from the ownership to the management if the ownership lets the management do their job let them do their job and if our management job people that are in place do their job to help the team and have a good head on the team’s going to be successful you can take any player you don’t necessarily need 10 Allstar players to win a World Series I mean look look at the Kansas City Royals look what they did a few years back they had that great p a great kitcher there um oh forget his name now anyway that big guy he brought them right down to the World Series Big Time catcher Perez Salvador press that’s his name that kid there oh man what a beast he that’s what I was saying saying back to Kirk Kirk is he’s a great quarterback for the Blue Jays and uh I if Kirk can be similar to Salvador Perez we’re going to do well you know we need a good quarterback to help the pitchers and the pitchers will feed off The Catcher And then the defensive players will feed off them work around them and then your outfielders and everybody be more aware and then from there work on their defense and I know they’ve been working on a lot of Defense we got to need defense defense defense yes okay but defense only can do so much and we need we need to score runs and if you guys watch games like it I did last year um there was a lot of times that people were left on base they couldn’t bring them in and uh anyway it is what it is hey buz but uh I’m going to send off um like I said Merry Christmas and maybe we’ll see you all before the new year so have yourself a great day so from East Coast Blue Jays thank you for coming and sitting with other friends as well Jeremy Harris he’s another guy that’s been on my podcast a few times he’s a huge baseball fan too he’s watched many games at the Ballpark and he had a lot of ups and downs watching the Jays but we always supported them always supported our Toronto Blue Jays fans and we always will but uh this is a fair while for today like I said Merry Christmas and we’ll see you guys
