it’s time to fire up the trade machine again and this time it’s for Bo bashet this is our second trade machine video our first one was with Louise Castillo just a couple of days ago make sure to check that out and if you enjoy this concept it’s a new way to talk about trades and potential trades be sure to hit that like the high like count lets me know you guys are enjoying it let’s get started and why Bo bashet well it’s obvious in the athletic Ken Rosenthal with a recent MLB notes piece talking about vlat he talking about Bo in in that he talked about how or reported that Executives from three rival clubs say that the Jays are open to moving Bo bashet but only for a high price so we’re going to have to add that into the equation here but this is a change from uh before the winter meetings back at the GM meetings when the season wrapped up when Ross Atkins said no shot not trading Bob bashet but things have changed so let’s fire up the trade machine and consider teams that could be in the market for Bo bashet I got the Pittsburgh Pirates Atlanta Braves Seattle Mariners the Dodgers the Giants yes the Giants are still here even after after the Willie adamus Edition because they could trade for B Bo could play second base yes the Dodgers are here you could have you hear all this talk about Nolan AR ronado trades uh Max M playing Third Base all that you can shift things around in LA to make it work Bo can be your short stop mooki could be your second baseman you can make this work Gavin Lux becomes a trade piece maybe a trade piece included in this deal so let’s dig into it we will be using baseball trade values as a guide and I say that because we’re going to have to take some Liberties here because there are several trade values that I disagree with and I know you the viewer disagree with several of these as well let’s take a look at Bose’s value low medium and high they give you three different ranges 4.2 5.2 and 6.3 million but remember what’s it going to take to get him we’re going to have have to go higher we’re going to have to go and we’re going to adjust this and we’re just going to take a nice round number we’re going to go to 10 million and why because of this because if you want to get Bob sh right now you’re going to have to pay a high price you’re going to have to pay higher than a $5 million value or $6.3 million value so we’re going to have to bump this up and it’ll be viewed again uh like an overpay for Bo bashet because what you’re trading for is OB obviously not what he did in 2024 you’re trading for the player that built up a successful hitting track record the seasons prior he’s not garbage so anybody that wants to say he’s garbage sorry I disagree I’ll just leave it leave it nicely leave it at that so we’ve got Bo with the $6.3 million value again though we’re going to bump it up to $10 million now those teams that I mentioned Giants Dodgers Brave Guardians uh I’m forgetting one I’ll put it up on the screen in a minute who are the potential or who would be sort of the top trade chip that would be sort of centered in a deal let’s start put him on the board for the San Francisco Giants I think we’re going to have to go with the pitching Prospect we have Carson wizen hunt and these dollar figures next to them it is the value that is assigned to them in baseball trade values Gavin Lux for the Dodgers 15.9 million dollar value I disagree a little bit I’m going to bring that down that’s why that is highlighted in red we’ve got huren waldrup from the Braves we’ve got from Seattle Luis Castillo is there a bow for Castillo deal that we could pull off and for the Pittsburgh Pirates I’ve got Braxton Ashcraft so in some instances we’re talking prospects with guys like Ashcraft and waldrup and wizard hunt and in other areas we’re talking veterans uh with Lux and Castillo let’s dig into the trades we’re going to begin with the San Francisco Giants the Giants would have to send or could send I think to get this done a little bit more so we’re going to go Carson wizen hunt we’re gonna add Tyler Rogers Blue Jays could add him into that Bullpen and Casey Schmidt that gets us to a pretty even trade here when you consider Bose’s value at $10 million if you’re the Giants you’re looking at this you’re saying well but Bo basette is a one-year guy we have a doas yeah we could we could put B at second but do we need to and if you don’t want to then this deal isn’t happening but if you’re looking to again uh further improve your roster your lineup if you’re looking to further improve the lineup you could go and trade for bashet I think it trades similar to this where you’re taking on or you’re moving on from a Giant’s perspective moving on from some of that Rogers money uh you’re bringing Casey Schmid and sending him to Toronto his everyday uh likelihood in a Giants lineup right now is is sort of not guaranteed and but wizard hunt ultimately is the price piece let’s move on I don’t want to spend this much time talking about each individual team for the Dodgers Gavin Lux for Bo bashet straight up doesn’t feel like something we could do it just doesn’t and Dodgers fans you’re probably looking at this and you’re like yep I’ll do that and with that little hesitation that I think would be out there that tells me we need to add a little bit more not a lot more but a little bit a piece that the Dodgers based on how things are shaping up probably won’t miss so let’s go Tony gonlin essentially the Dodgers could turn two pieces that if they acquired bashet if bashet comes over there’s nowhere for Gavin Lux to play Gavin Lux becomes incredibly expendable and Tony Godin as it is is kind of expendable so you’re going to go Bo comes in he’s your short stop mook’s at second base Max mun still at third base that’s your infield along with Freddy at first Gavin Lu goes to Toronto and Tony gonlin goes to Toronto Toronto gets the pitcher they’re looking for more for that rotation they get that with gonin he is headed into the off season healthy he’s going to be ready to go in 2025 Jays add him into the rotation and gonlin or not gonson Lux is in the starting lineup we’ve got a Braves trade here huren waldrup and we’re also going to include because it feels like waldrip for B is close but we can we can push it over the finish line by just straight up adding Jesse Franklin a piece that as far as Atlanta is concerned he’s got no shot uh no path to regular playing time unless he out of plays a triple A this year and and has a 1200 Ops he has really nowhere to play in Atlanta you can part with him and I don’t think you’ll miss him so you add Franklin into the deal the Blue Jays would take him he’s a lefty bat there’s some pop he’s still got to progress through the top levels of the minor leagues but with him and waldrup I think we have a good chance to get a deal done here Seattle Mariners fans let me address this I know you look at this value and you’re like no way he’s worth more than that and and I do agree with you so we’re g to bump Luis Castillo’s value up to the high value again they go low medium and high and that takes them to 9.3 9.3 for Bob bashet I think we have a one for one here um Mariners fans I believe that you feel that Luis Castillo is going to bring back more but this is a lot about moving the money out so that you can do other things with it next Pittsburgh the I’ll talk more about the Mariners trade in just a minute the Pirates I don’t know again when we look at baseball trade values and we’re moving deals around uh Braxton Ashcraft a prospect one of the top five prospects in the Pittsburgh Pirates Organization for one year of Bo bashet Pirates fans probably want to push back on that and I would not would not fight you on that but I have I actually have now look this wouldn’t this wouldn’t surprise me if this actually happened okay we don’t know what Ashcraft is at the very top at the major league level there are two other pitching prospects in the top five for the Pittsburgh Pirates so somebody can move if it if they think that they can upgrade the team for 2025 so however what if and the baseball trade values evaluator here things really get skewed what if it’s Mitch Keller what if we do a bob bashet for Mitch Keller trade bashet is again in a walk year so could be viewed as a rental likely run so Pittsburgh’s not going to lock bow up long term but Mitch Keller they gave him that contract and since he got that deal again Jones kind of came out of nowhere looks like a top of the rotation guy uh SK is one of the best pitchers in baseball you have the three other uh prospects that we just talked about so all of a sudden Pittsburgh’s looking at a situation where Keller that money we gave him boy it would be great to have a doover on that and maybe the Blue Jays give it to him this is the contract for Mitch Keller in 2025 it’s $15 million would you like to get that money off the books so you can can maybe have a conversation with skes about some kind of contract or or or or invest that money somewhere else or if you’re just a Pittsburgh owner your cheap skate and you put the money back in your pocket but there seems to be in my mind again the values do work right 19.4 is what Keller is holding on baseball trade values and Bose’s values bumped up to 10 so it doesn’t work on baseball trade values but when you think about Pittsburgh may be wanting a doover on this contract there’s rumors there’s already rumors Keller has not even had one year with the significant payroll last year was the first year and it was only $5.8 million this is the first year with significant dollars and there’s already trade rumors that tells me they want to get there’s enough talk there’s enough talk within the executives and and and on that side of the baseball world that Pittsburgh’s probably rethinking this thing and Toronto could give him a bailout and give him Bo bashet in the process and if you’re the Blue Jays and you can get Mitch Keller Mitch Keller is he an ace I don’t think so look at his numbers he’s not an ace is he a one no is he a two no is he a three could be a three so you add him into the rotation for 2025 with gsman and BOS and Basset and Keller and blue jay’s rotation is looking better so maybe there’s something here anyway let’s run all these trades through the trade machine and let’s get a winner I believe the best trade possibly for both sides is this one the Blue Jays and the Mariners Bob bashet for Luis Castillo a one for one what is the primary objective for the Seattle Mariners in 2025 to have a better lineup than you did last year significantly needs to be improved Bo bashet again you’re not trading for the Bo bashet in 2024 you’re trading for the B bashet that have built a track record of being a successful hitter one of the best hitters in the game and you are moving Luis Castillo out the door a piece that you can move and you will be okay because you still have four great starters in that rotation two Aces and then woo and Miller this time next year we could be talking about them as topof the rotation kind of guys they’re that good Miller and woo so you have you move Castillo you move that $24 million a year out and that gives you money to play with I know Bo has uh some significant money attached to him this year but if you’re thinking about handing out a long-term contract when with Castillo’s money off the books gives you better chance of of I don’t know feeling comfortable with your finances feel like I’m talking money to like my neighbor or something I don’t know anyway this is a trade that from a blue jay’s perspective they get the pitcher they get their rotation upgraded they don’t have to pay for Corbin Burns they go and get Luis Castillo a top of the rotation arm for $24 million a year which kind of feels like something the Blue Jays are trying to do they were in on Max free they were in on corber birds this works and for the Seattle Mariners they get Bob they get an upgrade to their lineup and they get financial flexibility feels like a win-win on both sides what do you guys think comment down below what trade is the best out of all of these all six of these trade options which one do you like the most which one do you think needs to happen all right guys that is going to do it for me this time I do appreciate you coming in and spending some time with the channel ball cap Nation I salute you again making it all the way to the end does amazing things for the algorithm so I really really do appreciate that make sure to hit that like on the way out everybody and remember if it’s low let it go and if it’s High Let It Fly I’ll catch you next time
