he’s done it one chance one goal well Mo that feels like a result and a performance that will really make the rest of the league sit up and take notice just how good were Liverpool today well we we were quite uh good in front but defensively we I think we need to improve as a team not just individual but uh consider three goals is quite hard and I think V speak V Al will speak better than me in that but yeah it’s uh quite good result and hopefully we just keep going did you always know coming here with the types of games they’ve had particularly recently that it might be that sort of crazy type of match yeah I think it we expected that the way they play just like they open the game and they enjoy the football as you can see the game is really tough physically and also mentally you have to be always in the game so yeah I’m glad that we managed to win the game why is it that type of game with them is it a lot to do with how they press and try to be aggressive but also gives you space the they have the way they play that they don’t change it much uh it’s and it’s quite intensity and you can see City come here struggle some other team come here struggling but uh I think I’m glad that we managed to to win the game cuz they really play very intense game so well they do but as you said Liverpool knew that they like that and they were prepared to go more than toe-to-toe with them today well exactly that you you get a sense I mean Tottenham have certainly in my time were like that as well they used to be quite quite an aggressive team they didn’t mind mixing it with you they always back themselves I think Peter you had some great games with with Tottenham as well for for Manchester United uh in recent times with the likes of con and and uh Mourinho they’ve gone back to more of a cautious U mode and not really a mode that Tottenham fans have have enjoyed too much and now they’ve gone full circle uh and now whoever they play It’s like a shootout you know there’s never a dull game with with Tottenham and it suited Liverpool they’ve simply got a a better team a well oiled team that that all know what they’re doing so you know having a shoot off and and Liverpool looking at that and thinking do we need to tactically change you’d say no let’s let’s play them at their own game we we’re too good for them and uh and that’s what they did and and basically the shootout went the way we thought lots and lots of goals but most of them for Liverpool and uh and it was I thought it was half flattered Tottenham in the end 63 sounds as if it was quite close up but Liverpool battered them really it was uh it was one-sided right from right from the start and I never ever thought that Liverpool were going to get beat or be under any pressure today okay well nine goals six of them to Liverpool let’s talk to one of the goal scorers for Liverpool Dominic sabosa joins us live from the Tottenham hotpress Stadium uh thanks for joining us Dominic I mean goodness me that was an incredible game to watch what on Earth was it like to play in um I think it was even better to play than to watch um as I said before it was really a good uh game for the fans who came to the stadium saw nine goals but I think um it was more happy for us because we took the three points and M Sal talking that there’s no surprise to anybody how Tottenham play so when you come to a ground like this today unlike perhaps other fixtures there’s no surprise the way your opponents are going to um come up against the game and it looked as though that played into your hands at times yeah it it was our plan we knew it that um they’re going to defend High and um that’s why we took um actually without a number nine Lucho was a number 10 next to me and um he was dropping more to get the balls and if no one follows him then he can turn but if someone follows him then it’s a big space behind so I can I can get to uh into the space and um yeah make a lot of difference Dominic it’s Michael Owen well played today just wanted to talk through your your goal um what was going through your mind did you consider taking it first time and then once You’ taken a touch what were you thinking in terms of the Finish was it just to hit the target or did you see a little space between the goalkeeper legs no to be honest I didn’t see no space there I just I just hope that Mo sees me I took the touch inside and um yeah hope for the best yeah and then you were later involved in another goal again mosalah uh you were returning the favor let’s say um you could have shot in this situation I’m sure Moos Sala would have shot if he was you but this was brilliant awareness to to play the Baltimore yeah that’s the differ between us yeah I know how he feels I don’t know how you feel I was selfish too yeah no no I’m I’m happy for him as well um he gave me in the first half uh I told him I’m going to give him back so really and for honest lot I mean he’s only lost one game you’re top of the league at Christmas four clear with a game in hand I mean in all honesty you could have dreamt of this situation I think everybody’s dreaming of these situations but um we SE many times that teams were in front of um other teams and it’s still 6 months to go so um we are looking for the table a little bit but also we are just taking care of ourself getting our points um still one more game um to go in front of the other team so yeah we want to be as much much in front as we could I know it’s the same set of players Dominic but with the new manager tweaking things here and there is it a surprise how quickly all taking it on board and the Fantastic results in every competition that you’ve had probably actually um no one expected um him us to to to start so well um but he is believing in the team we are believing in him and um I think we need the whole Squad and that we showed it many times doesn’t matter who plays we give our best um on the pitch Champions League cups um and in the Premier League as well that’s why we are the top of the table and um top of the Champions League well very well played today we appreciate you joining us thank you very much indeed thank you and he one of the Liverpool goal scorers for you live from the Tottenham hotsp Stadium that’s the point Peter as well when they play like they did today they’ve got goals all over the all over the pitch haven’t they I think Liverpool in the last couple of years they’ve had goals from everywhere really uh and that’s been the strength of the team um I even it would be interesting to hear exactly what it is the difference from last year to this year is cuz they they kind of look more solid well Michael used to work controlled didn’t he before the game yeah they’re still scoring the goals they’re still coming up with the chances like they did last season but they kind of look a lot more solid and you know we are at Christmas now they’re top of the league they’re in the the the semi-final of The League Cup they’re top of the league of the Champions League I mean that that’s that that’s brilliant absolutely fantastic and and now you’re looking at it you’re thinking yeah this might just be that year you know where they can they can go and win all the big things um and but when when you look at the the playing material you think well it’s it’s not really like what man city had in the last sort of and still have of course they don’t have like two teams but still it’s working it’s working out for them and it’s absolutely impressive what they did today was fantastic what they were did they came out and they knew how Tottenham were going to play and they absolutely exposed them at their home turf they humiliate ated them and and rightly so you said before it could have been a lot more uh and it should have been a lot more but uh I mean I’m I’m now beginning to think that Liverpool can actually go all the way um and it yeah said it through gritted teeth that no I I honestly I honestly I I you know I would love man united to win the league I’ve nowhere near that but I really like wake up from that dream at the moment Peter I like good football when when there’s an element of risk but also to use your word control so when you combine the two of them with good players you end up with having good football and entertaining football you don’t have to go I mean today I think Tottenham the way they approached the game was just a little bit silly you know they’re just giving a lot of space away that they didn’t have to give away that kind of football might be enjoyable it’s not enjoyable for Tottenham fans today but Liverpool’s way of playing is quite entertaining and and you know you combine those two things you know you never know what it can and it was not great at te it was like Brother The Pig well done um but from Spur’s point of view nine minutes into the second half at 3-1 they concede the first goal of the second half and then they were chasing and when you got Mo Salah you got a chance to win in the league haven’t you you me yeah and obviously I mean the next goal was always going to be important um but again transition um Tottenham are just sort of like all over the place and yeah I mean Liverpool I mean there just the timing of the movement you know making the right decisions at the right moments um just really clinical and a lot of the goals they look quite easy but then it’s the weight of the pass then it’s the connection here you see the weight of the pass here it’s the right timing just keeps himself one side and there a lot of players who make a make the wrong decision but you know he goes across goal gets fortunate gets lucky but it’s because they make the right decisions all the time and that’s why they score so many goals they have the numbers as well this is what I mean you have certain element of control but but you’re also taking risks you you’re committing five players to go forward and then this was the one we saw yeah I like this goal um I mean any Young Center forward wanting to score goals just have a look at it’s a tiny thing but Moos Salah here I mean he’s left footed He could have swept it in with his left foot but I just thought I’d make a point of it here he’s got a really fine that corner if he goes left foot you watch how close a goalkeeper gets when he hits his right foot he buys himself about an extra meter in the goal there by letting it come across as because he opens the angle more if he hits it early he keeps the angle closed and the goalkeeper gets and he’s got to really be precise lets it come across his body that then opens the goal a lot more so just a tiny little thing but as Jermaine just said there goal scoring is about tiny matters and if you equate it to numbers then you’re giving yourself a far better chance of scoring a goal by making the right decisions and you have a look at this graphic now that he’s just entered the big league with some of the greats of of all time obviously with with Liverpool and he’s not slowing down is he well he’s gone to alltime Fourth today as you can see um in the list on to 229 but that last column is interesting Michael he is the fastest to any totally his minutes per goal is better than everybody else on that list yeah and that’s the hard bit to equate though isn’t it because all of those players are from a totally different generation so it’s very difficult to say when it was harder easier to score goals even my generation to this generation now it’s quite difficult to say right well who’s the best and who’s this from from you know 10 20 years ago so it’s quite difficult to do that but numbers don’t lie I mean it’s quite easy to say that he’s one of the all-time greats already for liver and as I say he’s not slowing down he’s not stopping if he signs a new contract then he’ll be in the top three but in no time and then maybe one day even threatening the a rush record I never thought thought I’d say that no uh just to put it into context with my good friend he’s not only eight people uh in the history of Liverpool Football Club have scored more goals put me on the list then because the producer said top five not not nothing to do with me I asked for top nine but it wasn’t there anyway 158 goals later for Liverpool right here is the Liverpool manager who seemingly can do no wrong just one defeat since walking through the door at anfield Anna slot well Anna you said before the match might be a crazy one it was did you like almost everything you saw yeah uh almost indeed uh first 50 55 minutes is I think what you want uh except for the goal we conceded because uh yeah uh if you have so much dominance and you you might have gone in at halftime for if a two with a two1 lead that would probably not have done Justice to um to the Quality we brought today then 3 one up and and it ended up being 5-1 yeah and then I think we all saw that uh we thought it was enough and therefore Tottenham has far too much quality if you’re not every second of the game on top of them they are uh able to create and score I know in your preparations because you said beforehand you’ve watched a lot of their games against the best sides and the biggest clubs so you’ll know no one else has done that to them how did you do it yeah I think I said similar things before the game that um that in the games they’ve lost here against the bigger teams that they were all always very close to a result and maybe deserved some something more than they got I think today it was was clear that we deserved to win so that was a a very good performance for a last part of the large part of the game except for the 15 to 20 minutes where we fought we didn’t have to run anymore and then um that period of time we couldn’t see it too has that really annoyed you has it taken the gloss off that last bit a bit a bit it’s also a good warning for us to understand that if we’re on top of our game it’s very very difficult for every team to play against us but that is our strength it’s not only the quality and that maybe is useful this 15 minutes because they’re the same players with the same quality they don’t run the same anymore and then we can concede to but um yeah you can say this so many times unfortunately it didn’t hurt us today but in other moments it could so I mean you’re a big fan of an poao and what they do but in terms of your plan beforehand and how it was then executed where were the opportunities for you today where was the space I think against every team there is an opportunity uh because um if they press n and 10 you have 3v2 midfield if they go to 791 you have to bring a maybe a defender in the Midfield to have an overload if they go man Fe man which they did with the third goal uh then maybe if you win a jewel there’s only one player necessary to out play someone and you have an extra man so it doesn’t matter which team you face there’s always an opportunity but there’s always a threat as well and uh I think that’s also what you saw today because they have a lot of quality players they have a very good idea about football if you give them a bit of space they can hurt you so much and um I’m not a fan in in in in that sense of the word of of of of Ang but I like his playing style I like what he does and I I I’m not one of the guys or one of the people that I think uh he deserves criticism for what he does because um he’s at a club uh where where normally normally they oh every Club has a chance to win something but they don’t win uh that much in the last 15 to 20 years here but what he does do is always enjoying the fans Maybe not today but in general he does I know these these questions about Mo Salah and Trent Virgil as well always sound a bit loaded but particularly with the first two how how good were they today how good have they been throughout your time and we we are talking about world 11 players here aren’t we yeah yeah we do otherwise you don’t play for Liverpool so uh uh there should be uh one of the best players in the world uh or close to that otherwise you don’t play for such a big Club so that’s clear they were outstanding today especially if you look at most numbers two goals two assists it wasn’t that every other ball he touched was as brilliant as the two goals and the two assists but he played a very good game if you come up with two goals two assist and with Trent uh okay the focus might again be on this great cross he gave and uh with the first goal and and some other moments but I think playing against sun is not always easy because he’s a threat and he defended him for almost the whole game very very very well since you first walked in is he really up that part of game Trend the defensive side yeah I think he he increased a bit but there are Still Moments where I think he can do better uh so I said it I think before the game uh Newcastle half hour he came in City he was outstanding Fulham was okay but for his standard not top but today he was again of the level that he played against City and and newcast so top at Christmas how significant is that you’re getting towards that halfway point where you said it makes a bit more sense to look at the league table yeah it it tells you it shows you that we have a very good team of course uh still three three games to go for us halfway but uh if if you can go here and play the game we did then we are definitely uh a hard team and a difficult team to beat and that’s what we’ve shown till now but yeah this game also showed that um you can lose your momentum in 10 to 15 minutes let alone if you go for maybe two or three games with that intensity that we had in that 10 15 minutes so if it was easy to win the league everybody would do it and it isn’t because you have to be on top of your game every second uh that you play in the Premier League and um yeah a long way to go thanks Anna enjoy your Christmas thank you you too well there is but if he maintains the recent uh consistency 10 wins and two draws from the last 12 in all competitions uh they certainly won’t be far away his standards is interesting there when we spoke to him um after the the city game he alluded to that as well as de you can hear him there for 10 minutes we stopped running we conceded two goals yeah and it shows what can happen but as I say I take that with a pinch of salt in that they won’t stop running if they were playing against Arsenal today and it was 1-1 or nil nil they wouldn’t stop running it it was a strange game today you wouldn’t look at Liverpool and say oh that that you know that’s the way they play today there was far less control I guess um than than what we’ve been used to but that was down to the opposition I mean he’s so impressive whatever he says I’m Clinging On to every word listening to him he thinks about it he says it with an assurance a calmness he’s top class I think and the Liverpool fans if You’ asked them you know after Jurgen klopp the highs of Jurgen Klo everybody thought oh it can only go one day but one way but it’s actually not it’s a continuation of Brilliance interesting let’s go back to the Tottenham Hots Stadium Michael’s former teammate Danny Murphy uh waiting to speak to us good to see you Dan I mean I guess that was a privilege to be in the stadium for for that crazy game wasn’t it yeah good evening chaps it was because you get to see it don’t you firsthand when you hear the speed of Liverpool’s play the quality the running power that you were talking about um yeah I mean it was an advantage for Liverpool I suppose that five or six of them didn’t even travel midweek and Tottenham had the same 11 but the quality is there the Gap is obvious um brilliant performance and they were never never really in any trouble and how clinical were they well the the Liverpool front players are so such a threat um they’re all at it at the moment they all look a threat but Salah Salah doesn’t matter whether he’s playing well or not he’s end products unbelievable he picks the right pass he he’s there to put one in on the back post tap he’s always in the right place at the right time but I thought Diaz was outstanding he doesn’t stop and he’s got that game intelligence where he can play in that little deeper role as a 10 false nine whatever you want to call it um and they’ve got options cuz J’s back I don’t get me wrong I thought Tottenham helped them massively in the first half I mean the positional play of I don’t know what he was trying to do with kulesi and son because Trent and Robinson were getting 2v ons all the time down the sides hence the first two goals coming from it and he was right I was right behind an and he couldn’t see it it was so obvious Trent was having a field day um so they absolutely took advantage of it and could have been 10 could have been 12 murf it’s Mo I hope you’re well mate um just watching the game looking at the you know potential hurdles let’s say for Liverpool do you see any I mean Manchester City probably blowing it already so it’s looking like Arsenal and Chelsea but is it Liverpool that have to beat themselves now can you see them dropping away in any way it looks it looks pretty easy for them at the moment to me I think the only the only concern would be Virgil and mo Salah is the most reliable in terms of goals and assists and I think Virgil is the the Kingpin at the back I mean they haven’t been quite as watertight since kady’s gone got the injury although Gomez I thought did well today but if those two were to have a problem then you could potentially maybe other than that they look fit they look sharp they got competition for places the bench is good they can buy in January if they want one or two maybe reinforcements and I think although I agree with you I don’t I don’t think City you’re in it I think Arsenal probably the strongest Contender even though Chelsea a second at the moment and I think even Chelsea really defensively they still look like they can they can concede goals when I’ve seen them play I think Liverpool in a great chance mode they’ve got they’ve got it in their own hands to a degree and their home form as well I mean really really strong at home as which is key as well but I I don’t see um come the last couple of weeks of the Season Liverpool not being in it at least that’s one of your former clubs it’s interesting to hear you saying you sat right behind ANS Posta cogo today then where are we with Spurs are we at a point where there has to be a a proper sort of postmortem investigation here or do we just accept that it isn’t going to change and that’s what we’re going to see I I struggle with it I’m really struggling with I’m I mean I’m a bit like same Cara’s opinion the other day it’s you can’t play that way where it’s just when you’ve got the ball when they haven’t got the ball I can’t see what they’re trying to do some of it’s man for man some of it’s positional uh honestly I was lost and and at one point you’ve just got to make some decisions on the pitch to stop the the Avalanche of chances in the first half it was nonstop and he didn’t do anything and the players didn’t take responsibility I mean I don’t understand why any of the players weren’t saying s look Trent’s running the game he’s get dictating play he’s running pasture he’s getting loads of possession at least stay with him for 10 minutes nobody does anything they they’ll have games where they destroy teams the other thing is when they go a go down here the anxiety you could send it their confidence was drained from the players and when they go a goal up it’s the opposite they really go after teams and everyone wants the ball but I’m I’m if I don’t see how it can keep going the fans were on the edge today at one point when it went to five if there’ have been another and they hadn’t responded this place would have emptied murf is JD um so do you think do you think the gaff’s got to take full responsibility because we can talk about obviously you know you know they concede a lot of goals and you know going forward they’re good and that but at some stage surely players as well you know you know you you have to take responsibility as players and show that sort of like that that football personality but do you feel like the manager has to take full responsibility in terms of how they play I think it’s always a balance JD there’s a there’s there’s a there’s a certain type of player that takes responsibility on the pitch irrelevant of the manager’s message and I don’t see too much of that going on you know even the other night against Manu he can’t he can’t be shouting on every 5 minutes to the keeper when to kick it and when to play out that’s got to be to some of the you know players responsibilities and Leadership I agree with you but ultimately he sets the tone doesn’t he he sets the tone for the the way they play and I think it’s it’s not about offensively they’re great to watch but defensively in certain games it’s not every game sometimes they’re okay because they they’ve got the ball a lot and their confidence is up but I mean against good teams they’re going to get ripped apart because we’ve all played the game we know if you if you want to go man for man you have to have super fit players who can run all day and be con concentrated for 90 minutes and and play weekend midweek weekend midweek it’s nearly impossible yeah Ma thank you very much indeed great to see you cheers chaps stay warm in that studio won’t you don’t expect any sympathy you’ve just had a ticket for the highest scoring game in the last three years in the Premier League which Liverpool won comfortably but as Danny was mentioning there well and it’s another another breathless one how did you see it yeah look U obviously um painful one for us um credit to Liverpool they were yeah they were too strong for us today and um yeah we kind of looked a little bit um yeah sort of Running on Empty in terms of our energy levels which is quite understandable with um the situation we’re in and um yeah so um just me an opponent too strong on the day yeah I mean most games even when you’ve lost you’ve been somewhere between competitive and even dominant but did that feel like some bit different today yeah to a certain extent like I said they’re a good side and um you they’re in a good moment and we’re uh yeah we backed up from uh Thursday night with the same team so I think that tells you fair bit yeah I mean and you mentioned energy levels in your first answer without 10 first team players today you played on Thursday they played on Wednesday they all also able I think to rotate eight so did you feel like that physical side Personnel side played a big part today I played a big part played a part for sure but that doesn’t take away from the fact they’re a very good football team so um you know we’re still uh that aside um you know they’re um still a tough team to to overcome and um you know for us it was uh just a bridge too far today in terms of what we were trying to do so given all that context still what did you make of the performance were the bits you wanted better I said you know the the lads tried as hard as they could they just met an opponent who was uh you a little bit too sharp today and a little bit too strong um so you know we had to we had to sort of try and hang in there as best we could uh we did a different spells but you know they seem to get a goal um which can’t always put them sort of um too far ahead of us there’s um obviously this week been a a bit of a focus on the entertainment side I know you’re here to win but would you still rather lose like that doing your thing playing your football than I don’t know sit in two Banks or four and lose two or 3 n no I don’t like losing no um any way you lose I don’t like losing so doesn’t like I said um I said during the week it’s yeah yeah we want to be um we want to be an attacking team aggressive team but we want to win so um I don’t know lot losing anyway you Louis so so from an attacked aspect then I mean you scored three goals but what more could you have done yeah not a great deal I mean we you know like I said they’re a good side not many teams will score three against them and uh you know that’s couple other opportunities but just overall I just think you know like I said they’re in a great moment they’re uh they’re flying they’re really settled um you know just have to look at the the players they’re bringing on to finish off a game of football and uh we’re not at that level yet yeah feels like it it might be fuel for those who say you need to tweak it you need a plan be or for you was it not about that today I don’t know mate I really you know it’s I don’t know how to answer that question really I mean I think I’ve explained clearly what I thought happened today and you know I don’t know what plan B is or plan I I really don’t know how to answer that I really don’t lost for words yeah thank Youk you thank you bud yeah it was that kind of day um Fran poog has he a point about the the energy levels did did that play part today with the same team again for Spurs yeah of course I mean it’s it’s um it’s a high energy game play against Liverpool you can have to sort of like put in those sort of like outputs you know um but at the same time you know you still be this you can’t use that as an excuse you know you still don’t want to concede six goals at home of course I mean Liverpool currently the best team in the league and you know we spoke about the the four players that that got you know they always going to cause you problems but to conce six goal like that um know it’s losing games and getting beat you know you get beat like that at home it’s of course disappointing and you can see from his body language it’s almost lost for words to be honest because what do you say to the players um but I just don’t think you can use that as as an excuse you know if anything if you if you are tired going into games then you sort like approach it in a different way you know obviously when Conte was there people spoke about obviously at a possession it was sort of like boring you know but it was hard to break down you know um going forward yeah you got good players something always going to create chances um and even a question about Plan B and being able to adapt um it doesn’t like it but you’re going to have to at some stage because if you continue playing this way and conceding this amount of goals then you’re just going to go backwards in my opinion and if you were a current player in that you were talking to murf there about you know grabbing responsibility or whatever but they’re obviously coached and told to play in a certain way defeats like today would that damage belief in the way that you are playing of course but I feel like players have to take responsibility as well I think at times where obviously I’m not I wasn’t a Defender but I feel like at times where especially players that are played with if I was a defender or fullback there’ll be times where someone next to me say no no you’re standing here for 10 minutes we’ve just equalized it’s 2-1 ask referee it’s just game management speak to referee how long’s left okay we get through to Half Time 2-1 second half game one we get the we we get the second goal why do you think that isn’t happening in this current I don’t know I don’t know but M murf said it there you know is their players there that are going to sort of like take that responsibility sometimes it’s too literal the manager says we have to do this so we do this you know but you the way Tottenham played they’ve got freedom you can see that they’ve got freedom to play CU in the final third one of the best teams to watch we’ve said that but the other side of it that people don’t want to talk about that’s important just as important it’s just there’s just there’s no structure and it’s it’s hard to watch it because every time every time Liverpool went forward it seems like they’re going to score they could have scored they could have scored nine goals it it’s not it’s not just with Tottenham you don’t have players who takes responsibility it’s very much the way football is moving you don’t have I mean I again you know I don’t want to talk too much about when I played that that it was better but there were people in my the teams that I played in that would take responsibility a lot of them most of them actually would say hey this is not working so we’re going to do this or we’re going to do that nowaday you play in in systems and and with with strict principles of what we do and what we don’t do for instance we we go back to Thursday night how they conceded two goals against Manchester United by the goalkeeper actually giving the ball away inside their 18 yard box now this game today started you think well okay they learn from that they’re not going to do that but the game today started with forer again giving the ball to mosala who could have scored within was it three minutes same thing so you play in principle and you do what when you do that when you tell you play players that that is a way you have to do you also take away some of that um some of the responsibility that the players should have so you you don’t give them that complete freedom to actually change things on the on the pitch they might have felt that this needs to be changed or this needs to be S sorted out but it goes against the way that we play our football and a lot of managers today are being brought in because they have a certain philosophy and they have to apply that to the team we’ve seen with with Russell Martin at at at Southampton he was brought in with it with the system that he wanted to play The Players weren’t there to play that system they had didn’t have the quality and eventually he ended up losing his job last week because they simply conceded far too many goals and lost too many games because of that so it’s easy to talk about players should take responsibility but if they’re not allowed to take a responsibility it’s very difficult to sort of uh evolve that thought yeah I I agree with Peter and to elaborate on that you know football is going a little bit like like life like business like anything it’s numbers driven it’s data driven um you know 10 15 20 years ago you had people making decisions on the pitch that’s why you required Le you know required leadership qualities on the pitch nowadays leadership quality they’re important but they’re probably not as essential as they used to be because as Peter’s just alluded to people have got in structure the leadership’s coming from all week saying right when the ball’s here you’re there you’re doing this you’re doing that and and everybody it’s it’s it’s robotic nowadays football is becoming robotic um there’s less initiative on a football pitch less Mavericks on a football pitch than they used to be uh even the quality players if they don’t have the running St that back it up then you know they’re out the team so football is going like that whether we like it or not it’s really intriguing in certain ways to listen to the numbers and to and to understand certain scenarios and you know and and you you ask a question of a coach and you say why why did you do this he said well because if we put the ball in that situation 64% of the time we do this and if we do it in this it’s only 52 so we’re going to do it that way because the numbers of generations of football show that’s more successful and you just like oh right okay it’s numbers driven it’s crazy the world is getting crazy but Mo it starts some cies it does I I think you got to be careful of academies cuz at times I feel that the players are over coached it’s different when you go to Italy and Spain there’s there’s Freedom with the coaches Freedom with the players you have to go and express yourself use a good players that’s why you’re here um a lot of players can’t do extras so they’ll make a mistake on a weekend for instance you know you you talk about goalkeepers you know you make a mistake when you think okay then I’m going to stay out you take responsibility I’m going to stay out for extra 20 minutes and I don’t know maybe pass it into a mini goal that’s what I need to improve on and you can’t do that because everything’s data driven You’ you’ve done too much today or sent it forward that’s Miss chances I want to do 20 minutes after training now you can’t do that because it’s dat driven you’re in the red zone so the game’s completely different like I could never imagine when I was playing that you know sport someone at the sports science team would say to me oh you can’t do that because you know you’ve done enough you’re you’re in the Red Zone but I need to practice come come Saturday if I miss this chance I I can’t stand in front of the fans and be like I couldn’t do the extra 20 minutes because I’m in a red zone like it just it’s it’s completely different in terms of whatever Zone they were in on the pitch today is it is it as simple as an Poo saying we were up against a much better opponent or did Tottenham just not help themselves at times as well it’s fine saying that that is that is true that’s that’s factual really they’re against a better opposition but they couldn’t keep the ball at times could they well they couldn’t because they’re against a better opposition and you know I mean we see a lot of the time here Steve we just got a a group of Clips together the amount of times they give the ball away in dangerous areas or they give the ball away and and allow breaks um that was early in the game even when they’re attacking look how many bodies they’ve got forward they lose one ball and they’ve got five or six players in front of the ball now to be fair to them they do run back but they’re all so all over the place as Jermaine alluded to they they they don’t know where they’re going a lot of the time they get numbers back I mean even here they’re five against four but it’s the timing of the run you know they they have numbers to to defend it a lot better than than they do but they they just they just don’t look at I mean look at this there’s only four Liverpool players they’ve got seven players there in shop plus a goalkeeper that’s eight yet they still can’t defend it they just don’t know what they’re doing in certain scenarios it’s it’s quite worrying and and I guess that it’s not things that he works on um when you look at the team you think cool Tottenham must only work when they’ve got the ball um and where people go when when they’ve got the ball and it’s all right going into dangerous positions but then if you lose the ball we talk about fullbacks being almost up there with a striker almost inside forwards which is great when you’ve got the ball you know you’re outnumbering people and over loading as they like to use now that’s all great but what if you lose the ball and then all of a sudden you’re five against three at the back or five against two it’s and that happens all the time we watched it all the time tonight so it’s great looking at the positives but you’ve got to balance it out with the negatives as well and when you’re playing a team like Liverpool go Toe to Toe at your peril you’re not good enough to you’ve played a game you know you’ve got 24 hours less rest and Recovery you’re playing the same team whereas Liverpool are chopping and changing and freshening it up you’re playing against better players with more Technical and and tactical Nows and you go gungho and and you get you backside smack like you you know like you probably deserve to because you’re not really showing the you are showing the the opposition respect but you’re not really you just will play our game and and that’s that well unfortunately you always come up against someone bigger and better in life and that’s what they came up against today it’s frustrating of course you you watch it especially when you watch the clips there you know especially you you play against a Liverpool team you know on transitions they’re so good and they’ve got four players where they can punish you then you talk about the detail where the pass is important you got to keep the ball because a lot of teams they’re actually vulnerable when they’ve got the ball as soon as it turns over M and you get that one pass how Liverpool do it so well you’re in trouble okay we’ve had the manager’s view here is the Spurs Captain son that only really tough to lose at home like that what did you make of the Spurs performance yeah very disappointed obviously the results and uh consider the six go at home is not that idea so yeah yeah he really really pay for he played on Thursday night pretty much the same team got a lot of injuries at the moment we had the manager here a minute or so ago did you feel that energy running and running out of it was a big factor today um yeah what can I say is you know as a footballer you always want to play so but that’s why we at the moment we got so yeah we got to just just work hard and just recover as as as many as possible so but yeah yeah I don’t want to make any excuses so we we were ready so we were we were just running and we were just try to be a sh as possible so yeah uh Forest away former manager Nuno of course uh in fourth uh on boxing day for spot I mean his body language they look Shell Shocked I mean how potentially damaging could this be yeah he does um and it’s so difficult as for manager and players to come out um and sort of like find the words to try and justify the performance um but the fact of the matter is you concede six goals at home you against a good team um and there’s obviously no shame in losing against Liverpool but it’s just coning go it’s in the manner which you lose um but listen you know we just spoke then about you know son is’s such a you know he’s the captain you know he’s a top player um and he’s sort of like we spoke about him being isolated can he play more Central where he’s more effective in a game um but it’s disappointing but you need to need to just keep going I I think he would I don’t think he he’s got the pays he had two years ago where he was absolutely outstanding and uh winning the did he win the Golden Boot or was he closed joint Jo joint yeah joint he doesn’t he to play in that position in that team in that system you need that pace and today he was nowhere near get getting any breaks do anything I think central he would be much better more more Ben because he’s he’s a very intelligent player and when you look back at this game and of course we have to isolate this game because you know it is kind of a freak result but when you look back at this game they need they needed a little bit of intelligence in there to sort of just manage the game Run the game and I think he he’s more than capable of doing that it’s probably why he’s a he’s he’s a captain as well um but just just something I thought of there you know you go you go back to to uh so when you think about you know boxing day it’s only a couple of days away they’ve got another big big massive game how do you build the players up again I mean this is this was I mean they they look shell Shar that that’s the words you used how do you build them up again well it starts with the manager already in this interview I would have liked a little bit more you know yeah today wasn’t great you know but it’s what happened so when I I’m one of his players when I’m watching it back I’m thinking okay yeah it was bad but it wasn’t that bad we’re not in a really bad situation but he actually three times used the phrase in the situation that we’re in that means when I’m watching this back as a player I think I’m in a situation you know I I oh what kind of situation am I in what you know and and and on the subject of the leadership that’s not in teams anymore or we didn’t see that too much today you know what am I going to do I need I need my manager to absolutely help me and he’s you know he’s telling me that I’m in a situation it it’s a you know it I think it’s what’s in football at the moment you know it’s uh and it it’s a problem that it’s it’s like that I know players every day they they will get that they’re training all the numbers all the video they’ll get that and I know I mean most of the players I know they will actually look at it and I’m just thinking it’s a little bit too much isn’t it because it it becomes that security or safety or or that dummy if you like what am I going to do the moment it’s not happening when I’m having a bad training session and am I going to bring that into the next game in all of this I need my manager to stand up for me and say hey everything is all right we can have a bad game we went to we went to South no we actually went Newcastle 5 nil lost 5 nil on a Sunday Saturday after we won to Southampton lost 63 and then we lost on the wedness day at home to Chelsea one0 three games the lot the gr shirt you’re wearing today reminded you of well it wasn’t that game I actually thought it was that game it wasn’t oh okay I I hadn’t you know I had a bet on it I lost a bed I thought it was that game okay but in that the manager never ever wavered away from we were good enough he never blamed us he all you know supported us and then I think I think Andrew’s I think it’s it’s more frustration with the questions I think when it’s constant he’s a manager he knows when he’s when when he’s constant like Plan B and you know being adapt I think I think he’s just he’s he’s frustrated with a with the same questions and when it doesn’t go well it’s just like people keep saying about Plan B I’ve already said this in my principle I’m never going to change in is constant but it is what it is you know if you concede six goals people are going to come for you they’re going to ask those questions but I think that’s why these body language is you know he seems flat and I mean it does r off on the players I understand what you’re saying unlike Anna slot so we’re at Christmas Liverpool are top four points clear game in hand what kind of message does that and the result today send out to the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea if you’re chasing them well you’re waiting to to try to find a in their armor aren’t you um at the moment in every competition they’ve been faultless of course they lost at home to to Nottingham forest forest aren’t a bad team they can do that to but that’s it one little blip uh in half a season nearly it’s quite incredible um he’s P picked up the the Baton from from Jurgen klopp and um and ran with it and if anything you could say improved they’ve not won anything yet you know they’ve not won anything yet so we can’t get carried away but so far it’s been incredible smooth transition he looks in control his team look in control um they’re sat pretty in all competitions I mean things are looking great it’d be fascinating to see if he does anything to upset the apple cart in the uh in the transfer window I suspect not much at all but uh so far so good for him and Liverpool fans will all be having a great Christmas I suspect they will indeed and make sure you three do my three wise men for Christmas today thank you very much indeed some are smiling more than others from the four of us we’ll wish you all the very festive best take care where do you think Tottenham and Liverpool will end up in the Premier League table let’s start with Tottenham Hots spur football club Tottenham under manager an postico glue have been under an unprecedented amount of unfair scrutiny when they are on form they beat opponents with Flare like they did to Champions Manchester City 4-n or Southampton 5 nil then everyone will applaud their entertaining play when they lost to Chelsea 3 to four they are criticized for being too open being too forward and the manager will be blasted for being too stubborn to modify or change his style of play this week they won 4-3 in the carabal cup semi-final against Manchester United yet many will still have a problem mentioning their weak defense Posta KLU seems to be in a no- win situation against critics what critics willfully forget is that in the past especially during the management of Mor o con and Nuno they are criticized for being too defensive minded and not forward-looking enough get a load of the irony in that sure you could say they are down in the 10th position currently but if you think how many first team players are missing because of injury their position is actually explainable First Choice goalkeeper Vicario is not expected till March Ben tanker is under suspension expected to play in the next game high flying vaner van with ham string injury return date unknown Romero and AD DOI with thigh injuries and ralis and hamstring looking forward after this game with League leaders Liverpool there will come a string of games with lower ranked teams barring the one with Arsenal on the 16th of January they could be expected to pick up a handful of points from these games supercomputer opter predicts that Spurs will finish fifth in the table this season we believe they might get fourth or fifth position where do you think Tottenham will finish share your thoughts now let’s talk about Liverpool Football Club when Jurgen klopp announced he was leaving Liverpool last season everybody thought they would struggle to compete after a charismatic Leader’s departure like Manchester United after Ferguson and Arsenal after aren Wenger but surprising everybody they are in top form under new coach Annie slot before this match they currently lead by two points over Chelsea with the game in hand while most of the teams around him are struggling with form and injuries they seem to not only get their past key players performing but several Fringe players from last season have made big impact on the field Muhammad Salah continues his scoring form 13 goals on the scoring charts on par with Harland in the league Doo jota comes back from injury and starts scoring Nunes scores the odd goals Cody gakpo Graven Burch Curtis Jones and Elliot are performing goalkeeper Allison is back the backline of Van djk Gomez Robertson and Arnold are still formidable sabosa and mallister are commanding the Midfield while leis di romps the forward line good times for Liverpool that being said they do drop a bit of momentum before this game since their 2-n drubbing of Champions Manchester City they have dropped consecutive points by drawing against Newcastle and Fulham supercomputer opter predicts Liverpool Football Club to win the title this season it is hard to argue against that at this moment one important thing to note however as Liverpool manager Anie slot keeps reminding everybody is the fact that we are only in match day 17 there are more games to come in the season it is reasonable to expect some twist and turns Yet to Come therefore it is hardly a done deal this is the Premier League On Any Given Match Day the bottom of of the league team especially at their home ground can beat any other team share us your thoughts if you think Liverpool will win this season’s premier league title [Music]
