trade rumors are a fun Topic in the hockey world and most truly are made up based on a player is on an expiring contract so it just makes sense that a team would be shopping for them it makes insiders look smart when they act reality we could all just have seen this coming recently two names have been put on the Insiders list and another Insider mentioned one name on a podcast which made me look into it more the two names are one that I’ve spoken about before Trent Fredick and Brad marshan in this video I’m going to do a further Deep dive into these rumors and give my opinion on the valid of those rumors so buckle up Bruins fans I’m here to give you the latest info on your belov Boston Bruins if you’ve been liking my Bruins content please leave me a like And subscribe if you’ve already done so thank you and let’s get into it the Boston Bruins are struggling to say the least this season and recently relieved Jim Montgomery of his duties as head coach to the Boston Bruins Joe sacko has become the interm head coach and they won their first game with him being behind the bench although it was against the struggling Utah Hockey Club when a team struggled and has a record of 99 and three it’s expected to do better trade rumors surrounding the team become more prevalent the Boston Bruins are normally part of the trade rumors but it’s usually them trying to acquire the big ticket player that is on the expiring contract the season is different because the two big names the Bruins have on expiring deals are Trent Frederick and Brad Maran I’m going to start off with Marian because I truly think this one is easier to brush off and dare I say that Chris Johnson from the athletic put this name on the big trade board for clicks why wouldn’t he because now has me talking about it when I saw the videos and articles about it I honestly brushed it off and moved on Johnston said this is not a player we expected to find on the big board even if he’s currently playing out the final year of his contract but as a league Source noted this week I don’t think anyone in Boston thought that this is where they be at if the decision is to replace Jim Montgomery with Joe sacko behind the Bruins bench doesn’t produce the desired results some difficult Personnel decisions will almost certainly follow this truly isn’t a ringing endorsement that Brad marshan is being shopped or teams have even called on him Al the is is someone putting two and two together and saying that anything is possible he might as well have said Patrice berson is coming out of retirement like the Chicklets podcast has done millions of times Sweeny said himself if things continue he will look into a shakeup trading your captain isn’t just a shakeup though it’s more of blowing it all up and honestly if the Jacobs had any say on what goes on you’re not going to let a GM that supposedly everybody says should be fired right now myself included but you’re not going to let him blow the team up Brad Marian is in the final year of his contract but also has an 18 no trade list Marian has made it clear that he doesn’t want any of this extension talk to be in the media and made it crystal clear at the start of the season after Elliot Freeman suggested an extension was soon ell Elliot Freeman reported that you’re close to an extension any comment Al likes talking about me this week D um yeah I mean I I mentioned this before um I’m not big about talking about contract stuff in the media uh I’m not going to do it but um I mean that report from La is false um but I am not going to talk for my contract up I was sign a three extension be sign um you know just clearly it’s it’s it Elliot is is just strong so that’s about it guys available marshan traded would only happen if he went to the team and asked for a trade or if the extensions talks got so bad that the two sides develop bad blood we have even seen firsthand that bad blood during a contract negotiation this team doesn’t really you know care and the player doesn’t even get moved I truly think there is no trade talks at all about Brad marshan that are being generated by the Boston Bruins and trading him is not something they’re even considering right now he is the captain of the Boston Bruins and he and the team want him to retire as a Boston Bruin sure the Bruins are struggling but we’re not in panic mode nor are they saying let’s blow it up and do a rebuild at the end of the day Johnston got what he wanted from which was people talking about it now Johnson putting Maran above Trent Frederick is a choice on his trade board and it got podcasters and YouTubers talking about it because he put Maran so high I’ve reached out to many people on this one and find it laughable and just not true you can believe what you want I’m not going to waste any more time on it but I want to hear from you do you think there’s any validity to what Chris Johnson said now let’s talk about the one that I think has more validity and could be possible Trent Frederick is in the final year of his contract and will be an un restrictive free agent on July 1st he currently doesn’t have a no trade clause so he can be moved without needing to speak with him the former first- round pick is having a slow start to his season in 21 games he has three goals and three assists for six points I thought he would hit the 20 goal Mark for the first time in his career this season but he struggled the whole Bruins team has struggled though this season and has underperformed so much that their coach was fired Trent Fredick however has a skill set many Stanley Cup contending teams would love to have on their roster and that’s toughness with a bit of scoring which he hasn’t really shown this season recently he’s been on a third line with Coyle and meroff and that line looked great and Frederick even scored two goals against St Louis a couple games ago but what has been a pattern with this year for the Bruins they sent merkulov down to Providence by doing so broke up a line that was actually working the video is not here to talk about that decision by Sweeney to do so but wanted to touch on it because for the first time all season Trent Frederick was playing some good hockey the Bruins are struggling and Frederick is on an expiring deal every NHL writer around the league is going to link Frederick to their team and suggest that their team should trade for him why wouldn’t you at this point because if you go up and down the Bruins roster he is the likely choice to be moved because he would bring back some assets a very small cap hit and doesn’t have a way of blocking any trade right now Trent Frederick has very little leverage because he’s also struggling this year so it wouldn’t be a smart thing for him to do extension talks with the Bruins because they could easily lowball him I know I would in Elliot Freeman’s recent 32 thoughts column he said I’m not surprised but we’re already hearing that forwards with an edge will be coveted by contenders so when the Bruins are being scouted that’s Trent Frederick obviously he has as yet undetermined contract status looms large the Bruins would be foolish not to listen to offers on him and he’s struggling this year and maybe some team is willing to overpay to get him I still feel the Bruins reached when they selected him 29th overall in the 2016 NHL an draft many point out the Bruins could have selected Alex to brat but no one will ever know if he was even on the Bruins list at that time and de Brink at went in second round which means almost every team around the league passed on him and some did it twice it’s easy to go back in the draft years later and say they should have taken this player instead because we’ve seen the results the draft is gambling at its finest in the NHL but Trent Frederick wasn’t expecting to go in the first round so that’s why I’m saying it was a reach by the Bruins which they have a habit of doing anyways I personally wanted the brones to take Carter hard at the time but thank God they dodged that bullet insiders saying the teams are interested in Trent Frederick is more of a no moment over shock at this point in fact I suspect that unless he asss a contract extension we will hear about Tren Frederick is a target for teams until the trade deadline is there any trade imminent right now highly unlikely and to whom is anyone’s guess if you Google Trent Frederick’s name right now you get article after article suggesting he’s on the Block and that teams are looking at him speculating right now on where he lands would be as accurate as throwing a dart at a dart board with a blindfold on also speculating whether he gets traded or not is the exact same of course any team that is looking to contend this year will call the Bruins on them but most likely only offering Picks and Prospects I don’t think the Bruins are at that stage yet in the season and given the Bruins history I think they’d want a roster player back in return for him with term I don’t think trading him right now when his value is at all-time low is a smart move either and wouldn’t be a shakeup to the team everyone is suggesting the team needs if they can’t get back on track I mentioned in a previous video that more than likely be a Brandon Carlo being moved out type trade because he can be traded has term add a decent cap hit and can only block a 10 teams he is very well respected in the Bruns ler room and would send shock waves throughout the room I’m not suggesting it’s going to happen but giving an example of something that would actually shake up the team if you want to have fun with the whole Trent Frederick trade rumors you can go over to Puck pedia.com and do mock trades until you get bored and see what you come up with because it’s a lot more accurate than trying to do trades in an NHL video game if the Bruins move Frederick this early into the season it wouldn’t be a blow the team up type move and it would be to improve in an area of need my guess is they would trade him to add some scoring and speed to the top six they would also need to move more than just Trent Frederick in any deal to do so as well because the Bruins are tight on the cap right now and Frederick only makes 2.3 million a year trading Frederick would either open up that space or would need to bring back the exact same amount of cap hit because the Bruins only have just over 983 th000 in space right now that isn’t a lot of room to bring in a top six forward with speed and skill they actually need right now I know fans would be disappointed if they did move on from Frederick but we already saw the Bruins let to Brusco for nothing and I would hate to see them do that kind of fast
