Yankees $45 million All-Star predicted to ditch the Bronx in favor of mariners everyone loves a reunion but it doesn’t seem like one is in the cards for the New York Yankees and their two-time All-Star leadoff hitter to end 2018 and 2019 Gaber Torres was one of the brightest stars in the sport at the second base position and it seemed as though he was destined to be a Yankee longterm but he’s been up and down ever since and after a subpar 2024 season it seems unlikely he’ll be back in Pinstripes Torres was projected for for a 3-year $45 million contract the athletic which would be a far-fetched deal for the Yankees to sign him to however other clubs that don’t have as much offensive Firepower might be willing to roll the dice at that price point on a recent YouTube video content creator Robbie Hyde predicted that Torres would sign with the Seattle Mariners who are always in search of offense with the Washington Nationals and Los Angeles Angels also lurking as threats Torres did hit a lot better in the second half after Boon moved him to the leadoff spot and he did have a very good season back in 2023 Hy said I think the most obvious team would be the Mariners Torres is still just 27 and he owns a 112 career Ops plus which is great for a second baseman under most circumstances however he was one of the worst fielders at the position this year posting minus four outs above average and he has a bit of a strikeout problem the Mariners haven’t been a threat to the Yankees for a long time but the AL is now wide open and that pitching staff sure could be scary in a playoff series if Torres can ReDiscover himself in Seattle the Yankees wouldn’t want to see him in a Revenge series
