not in my life you see my name in the lights better get [Music] right what is going on everybody just as we were calling for the new York Yankees to make some sort of move voila coming out of nowhere they do make a move tonight as Jose trino is no longer a New York Yankee and the Yankees add a strikeout machine to their Bullpen whose numbers are a lot better the numbers are a lot better than what it actually shows you so let’s look at the trade here for the Yankees Jeff Pon came out after I believe it was John hayon and Joel Sherman who got Credit First on this one the Cincinnati Reds are acquiring catcher Jose trino from the New York Yankees for right-handed reliever Fernando Cruz and catcher Alex Jackson Jackson played for Tampa I think he also played for the Cubs a backup catcher uh sources confirm the ESPN Kev says um Jack Curry was also first on that I don’t really a poot to be honest but that is where it is now so this solidifies obviously we knew this already um Austin Wells spot in being the regular catcher for the Yankees we knew it was Austin Wells spot it wasn’t going to be anybody else this was his position and the Yankees are probably saving a little bit of money here um they’re probably saving a little bit of money here overall but the winner of this deal is the potential of Jose Cruz he is a major major strike out pitcher you look at his numbers here 66 and 23 Innings n strikeouts Yes you heard that correctly 66 Innings one9 punch outs for Fernando Cruz does not have the greatest control but I’ll give you guys this on him when it comes to picturers I Really like to see Matt Blake work with he does a very good job of working with pitchers that are wild I don’t know what it is about Matt Blake but he figures out a way to work out very very well with pitchers that are pretty wild he gets the job done with these guys whether it is uh pitch sequence whatever it might be but he’s able to get these guys to somehow throw more strikes uh uh and throw more strikes often is what I should say but again switching back to his overall numbers he got a splitter a four seamer and the cutter that the Yankees absolutely love but you see it there at cutter averaged about 89 miles an hour the fast ball sits about 95 on average and then the split sitting about 86.5 so this guy profiles very much as what the New York Yankees love they love these type of pitchers he throws all the pitches they really like he’s just missing the slider but the Yankees are big on the cutter the splitter the fast ball at that that profiles very much as a New York Yankee Bullpen type arm I don’t remember what José Trevino’s salary was supposed to be this year but I’m pretty sure he got an increase I think this is probably Trevino’s third year of arbitration so the Yankees are going to be saving up a little little bit of money here Hector Cruz says Ben rice could be the backup he’s the third string backup because at the end of the day guys Alex Jackson is going to be the backup there’s no denying that uh this is a defensive first style catcher he is uh he got a little bit of uh you know not much going on for him Alex Jackson I don’t really know what to tell you here 3.6 million is what I believe that was Perry that just said that was that Perry who was that that just said uh 3.6 I can’t find it somebody in here just said 3.6 million uh let me see H where am I at somebody said that I didn’t see it here but anyway I think it was 3 point something million dollars something like that and JC escara could also be the backup he’s been opening a lot of eyes out there especially uh playing for the aulas aulas doing very very good for those guys over there um but again look I mean 122 there there’s really nothing Perry said that thank you there’s really nothing to look at here with Alex Jackson he’s a backup catcher folks I mean he’s a backup catcher and the Yankees have guys that God forbid if something were to happen to Austin Wells uh again they have Ben rice they have JC escara who I think it was Kevin Rees during the winter meetings who talked up JC escar he’s like this guy’s putting up really good numbers we expect to potentially see him in the major leagues he is on the 40-man roster uh Lis uh right there says in 2025 Trevino’s base will be 3.6 so yeah Yankees are probably saving money here um I don’t know how many years Alex Jackson has been around but he’s 28 years old he’s not going to be getting anywhere near that um Jeff Jay says why I thought Trevy might be traded but interesting uh that he went and didn’t bring us an infielder not it’s the type of move for a deal like that um uh a catcher who at the end of the day doesn’t really have a starting spot anymore uh probably will see more playing time with the Reds the Yankees are very high on Austin Wells as they should be I mean Austin Wells is a guy who during a stretch there about a a couple of month stretch he was the third best player on the team I mean he was him and judge were the offense for the club so I get where the Yankees are going there um of course Austin Wells also very cheap for multiple years to come but the star of this trade no doubt about it is Fernando Cruz the Yankees get a cheaper guy here yes I get it they still don’t really have a lefty coming out that pen Yankees will save about 2.1 million Perry year the man so the Yankees saving a little bit of money maybe still you know searching on a deal that they can fit not hit taxes too much on there Keith Jackson says Yankees traded Marcus strowman next I could definitely see that but again man I like this move a lot I really do Fernando Cruz is the type of names that I like to see Matt blade get a hold of um huge strikeout pitcher again if anybody’s just joining 66 and two3 innings 109 K the year before that 66 Innings pitch 98ks let me bring up something else about him because his fit is a lot better than what you see his actual erra so let me go to baseball reference real quick and show you guys that but his FIP is a lot better so his erra in 2023 was 491 his fit was 283 his erra last season was 486 his fit play to about 3.27 so the Yankees certainly see a guy here they know Matt Blake can work with and like I said before if there are a couple of guys out there for an example of um a proven reliever who’s done it year after year maybe he’s struggling a bit those aren’t the projects that I personally like for Matt Blake these are the projects that I like for Matt Blake these are the ones right here that I really really really really do like is this right here um the guys that are wild but they got the stuff somehow Matt Blake’s able to figure his [ __ ] out so I like that uh King Dre with a super chat my guy says Alex Jackson is a first round pick what the hell what happened he didn’t pan out just like many first round picks he did not pan out at all he was a big slugging catcher and he didn’t pan out so Alex Jackson will likely be the backup catcher for the Yankees get the most opportunity maybe to do that could also be a guy at the Yankees maybe just say adios but he has the experience so probably would make sense Darius Glover says apparently a lot of Red’s fans aren’t happy about this trade I wouldn’t be either look Fernando crw is a good get and I I know people a lot of people are going to look at the base numbers and go oh come on Pete Fernando Cruz is a nice get the Yankees have added Fernando crw um Devin Williams we already know what that back end of that Bullpen looks like we know some of the other names they have I think Clayton beer got a chance to to make his name known in the Yankees Bull Pack this is a solid solid deal David Douglas says that means no Canley Pete I’m okay with that I think the bullpen and what have I been saying about the Yankees Bullpen the one thing I’m never going to knock the Yankees on is they figure out a way to make the bullpen work you know they they figure out a way to get a group of these guys together and they work out well so I I I always enjoy seeing the Yankees make that work but this is a smart deal man and like Perry said earlier they’re saving about 2 point something million dollars here they’re they’re fighting with going above that tax and not going above it that’s why I said I feel like bregman is not likely I think again going back to our earlier conversation this could maybe help them fit a little bit better for a Goldie for a Carlos Santana uh to put in their infield and then they got to worry about another infielder which I still believe should be via trade um and we’ll see what happens there but they could also really be doing this deal to open up a little more salary to fit a contract in is a possibility could also be reading a bit too much into that but here’s some more information on uh Fernando Cruz so Jack Curry says Fernando crw was three and eight with a 486 RA in 69 games for the Reds he had 109 strikeouts and 36 walks in in 66 and 23 Innings pitched um he threw a splitter more than 40% and batters hit 116 versus it he also throws a four seam fast ball and a cutter Alex Jackson of course hit 122 with three home runs in 58 games for a raise I remember the Yankees facing him if I remember correctly I swear I remember this well I think Alex Jackson had a big hit off of the Yankees this year with the Rays and I remember saying who the [ __ ] is this guy getting a hit hitting 130 I don’t understand it but I I feel like I remember that really well that he was able to to do something like that I I feel like I remember that moment I don’t know I don’t know but again man I think you guys should be excited about this move Kev just posted this I’m going to throw it on the screen for you guys uh Kev always doing his thing so let me put this on the screen show you a little bit of of what Fernando Cruz has look at that look at that filth filth sign me up Fernando crw baby I’m down for this struck him out pitch P struck him the [ __ ] out he got nasty stuff man he got nasty stuff that’s Fernando Cruz man and look uh the Yankees are slowly but surely getting getting a little bit better here man I’m I’m cool with this you got a filthy splitter it’s a great pitch King Dre says Yankees are like if we don’t score you won’t either Bullpen is very good top three for sure and they got the best rotation in the American League I don’t give a poot what anybody says they also have the best rotation in the American League so yeah do we all sit here and know they got to get better offensively of course they got to get better offensively um Cody Bellinger can’t be your only get and then you just uh what you going to just throw a bunch of [ __ ] all over the place no no no no no the the Yankees got a lot of time this what I’ve been telling people man they have a lot of time to continue to get better they got a lot of time to keep making deals um it’s only December 20th look now they just added to their Bullpen again maybe uh you know uh Hill comes back and they get that Lefty in a pen currently now they don’t they don’t have a lefty I think they may have Mesa under control I wouldn’t even [ __ ] around with that you know I don’t know what they do on the Lefty side they really don’t have anybody in the minor leagues in that regard for a lefty reliever so you know you may have to make a deal make a trade or two in regards to that but I definitely believe they should have at least one good Lefty out that Bullpen um I’ve always been a fan of two lefties but if you can’t make it work and you’re going with quality over that why the hell not but Brian Cashman has added two very solid arms to the Yankees Bullpen including one of the best closers in the game so this is not bad now all you know we got to see who’s that first and who’s the other infielder that’s the only thing now we’re really waiting for as Yankee fans and if anybody wants to have that conversation I literally just did that right before I went live for this one we just got off alive uh so I literally just did that you could go check that video out we talked about all the options um over there Macho King says could Lumbard be up in 2025 nah no way uh he could go off and be phenomenal he still wouldn’t be up uh this coming season no way in hell uh 19 years old he got a lot of he still got a lot of time there’s things he has to work on but the Yankees like I said before they’re extremely high on George Lumbard they like the guy a lot they love the player um so it’s interesting man we’re going to see what happens who’s on first what’s on one slot second yep you better believe it pep and of all the Yankees players we’ve gotten so far the new guys whose jersey you getting first uh none of them none of them I didn’t get uh I was supposed to get a sto Jersey I never actually got it thank God I didn’t I mean if I did get it it would have just been a 22 so it could have been like an old school Roger Clemens Jersey but no man um I don’t really I’m not uh I don’t really get jerseys like that for players uh Dominguez really got to shut everybody up and go off this year I mean I don’t know what who Dominguez has to shut up these people saying that he can’t field and all that stuff are just out their [ __ ] mind give me Luis Ren hea for either second or third I would like Luis Reno I would like Luis Reno I think that would be solid man Luis Reno is a guy I like a lot uh give the angels marus strowman I think strowman got a good chance of being moved uh I mean if the Yankees do believe in will Warren I don’t know what they see in the guy but if they do believe in will Warren he’s your sixth you know what I mean um uh Chase Hampton’s not far behind you also got Brock Salvage on the men coming on up really quick uh Lumbard come up at 2027 it depend let’s see what he does next year we’ll see what we’ll see what he does next year and go from there I don’t know yet angels are A’s could take strowman please I tell you what Oakland wouldn’t be a terrible idea for Marcus strowman I don’t you know try to build a nice little rotation for that club Clayton beer I think you’re going to see Clayton beer more out the bullpen this coming season I think you’re seeing more out of the bullpen will Warren has good stuff he just has to develop I be honest with you there’s not much I see from will Warren that uh makes me overly excited I don’t see a great a really good fast ball I see a decent slider but he doesn’t seem to be able to repeat it enough uh sometimes it’s a hanger and sometimes it’s flat I don’t know Brandon Lao and yet yandi to the Yankees that would be phenomenal Brandon laau and yandi Diaz to the Yankees would be insane but I have uh I have a tough time seeing how that deal would even work out to be honest um yeah that that’s a tough one how about Rooker comes to the Yankees not a great outfielder but he definitely got the bat I can see Warren as a piece to contribute to a trade deadline move I can see him contributing to a pretty significant deal this offseason Yankees waiting on Roki to see where he goes before moving many starters yeah Matty Stoke I could definitely see that being the case um Roki would come as a major surprise I mean I know we talked about him a lot I’m a huge huge fan of the player I mean man oh man Roki sazaki is one of the most um you know hyped young phenoms in the world as a starting pitcher I mean a guy with just lightning stuff and if the Yankees were able to land him what a frakin surprise out of nowhere because I don’t know about many of you guys but it’s like one of those things where I just gotta sit back and say slap me in the face when it happens and wake me up because I can’t believe it’s going to happen I I don’t believe it uh when does Ro does Roki make decision soon he cancel after January 15th so when January 15th hits we’ll be pretty close to knowing what’s up with him I be shocked if the Yankees land Roki you and me both brother I would be absolutely stunned stunned out of my mind baby uh champ kummet hope I said that right if I was a betting man I bet the Yankees first or second basem next year is in a trade for Spencer Jones very intriguing very intriguing I could see Spencer Jones being moved or I could also see the Yankees saying let’s hold on to him and hope he bounces back and show that belief in him I could see that I could definitely see that uh but I would just love to see the Yankees make a trade for a third baseman or a second baseman or Hell a first baseman maybe rice is the backup catcher but he hits left-handed I don’t think rice would be utilized as the backup catcher uh to be honest with you uh Joe my guy says Rizzo people are crazy give me Santa Claus for first base over Anthony Rizzo I might take you up on the local mall Santa Claus at first base over Anthony Rizzo right now no disrespect to Tony RZ that’s my Italian yeah I love Tony RZ I love to sit down and talk with Tony RZ one day but come on over a nice plate of Linguini with clam sauce that would be nice that that’s an on site right there Anthony I see you uh Cruz gives me Raphael Sorano Vibes hasn’t had the success yet but he could strike some baders out with the best of him I’ll tell you that Perry says per Mo Marathon Yankees aggressively trying for an impact first baseman checked in on uh Nate low interest on free agents Goldie and Alonzo more of a long shot Alonzo ain’t coming to the Yankees I don’t see that at all King Dre welcome to the U welcome to the Del we got GN right and if you want that mozzarella boy we got the two in the Del welcome to the we got oh nobody loves the Gaba goul like NYU baby or just just me I love I love Gaba goul okay yany also got catcher Alex Jackson yes indeed we talked about that already but again the star of the show is that man right there Fernando crw we got about 9950 or so in here right now guys hit that like button smacky to likey hit the Sub sub but again Fernando crw the get for the Yankees I likeing this move I likeing this move a lot I really do I like it I like it Yankees certainly adding to that pen quite a bit trying to be a there and sign somebody that’s SoDo that’s not going to happen right so what do you do you get better in other areas the Yankees are probably already shuring up that the defense is going to be better um get a little better with the fundamentals better base running this is why glabber Tores shouldn’t come back I know people said Rizzo this is why they shouldn’t come back you should stick with something different you should go a different route you know bringing back to me like I said in the previous live chat they they they come across now as stale I don’t want to go to the staleness I was talking about in the last video trades that I could see the Yankees making maybe maybe there’s a there’s room for like a three deal where Tampa the Yankees and another club get involved and the Yankees land yandi Diaz or something else maybe yandi Diaz and the Lefty reliever yandi Diaz and uh Clevenger from Tampa or maybe a lefty from another club in the deal um that’s the type of creativity that I want to see catel Marte would be amazing guys but again I just want to remind everybody other teams look to win too not just the Yankees so what I mean by that is the Diamondbacks are a team that not long ago went to the World Series so I don’t think they’re going to trade their MVP candidate who has an amazing contract uh I don’t think they’re going to look to do something like that but you never know you never know I’m not a big fan to bring back what about Anthony R no you don’t want again you don’t want to bring back Anthony Rizzle man I just I I don’t see the value there um how is Carlos Santana’s defense he’s just won a go glove at first base he’s one of the he’s probably the second best defensive first baseman in all of baseball right behind um Walker who just got signed by the Astros um he is a phenomenal first baseman if the Yankees went out there and they got a good third baseman or a good second baseman somebody that you know could provide a little more offense I’d be very very happy with Carlos Santana I’d be very happy with him very happy with him in that regard he had 100 in RBI hit over 30 bombs you don’t know ball yeah yeah he’s fat are you talking about um uh what the hell’s his face from uh this dude uh Naylor I’m just not a fan of Josh Naylor I I don’t think it’s that Naylor’s a terrible ball player I I don’t think it I don’t think it’s that Naylor’s a terrible ball player I I don’t I don’t dislike Naylor I’m just not a big fan of Naylor I’m not a I’m not a big fan of Naylor I all um no Smiley I know you weren’t talking about me um but I’m not I’m not a big fan of Naylor he’s not a he’s not a player that I’m a that I’m a major fan of and I think he’s going to also cost a lot I you know the Guardians don’t have to get rid of him necessarily and he’s going to cost quite a bit he’s going to cost quite a bit he’s not even about his batting average or anything I know he could hit I know he could hit he’s not a great Fielder at first but fairly athletic for his size but I’m not a I’m not a big fan of that move that’s all I’m just not not a big fan of that move if I see DJ at second a God yeah I don’t I definitely don’t want to see DJ lameu anywhere near the New York Yankees uh but again guys um the Yankees also in this deal if you didn’t know they’ll save about 2 point something million dollars in the deal so that goes right back out to the Yankees but again guys this this is kind of out of nowhere came tonight um it’s a it’s a this is a nice deal for the Yankees again is this the super sexy deal that um that we want to see that we want to have happen immediately no um but at the end of the day man I’m I’m excited about this move I I think it adds more to the Yankees Bullpen they get another guy who puts batters away with ease a lot of strikeouts pairing him up uh with a guy like Matt Blake he does a good job with these guys whether it’s p pitch rep ition or whatever it is they tend to to slow down on the walks when they come to the Yankees and they do a little bit better but Fielding independent pitching loves Fernando crw gotta love the strikeout numbers overall that that’s a a great thing but now we’re just waiting for the um the offense now we’re really rating on the offense for the Yankees we got to wait to see what happens with Roki sazaki and that’s where we are folks so um with that being said guys I’m going to get ready to wrap this one up also as my friend Danny throws in there let Cashman cook Mary xmus NYU yes next week we’re going to have a Christmas Day live chat I think Kev wants to plan that he said he like to do that with me so we’re probably going to do a Christmas Day live chat I don’t know if we’ll be live on Christmas Eve probably not we have like a big Feast
