no [Music] H did something happen Brian oh yeah something big welcome to lock on Yankees this isn’t going to be a typical show because the Cody Bellinger trade just came down like 10 minutes ago and we were already recording something else and we figured hey let’s go live to discuss this because I honestly with the reports didn’t think that this was going to happen this week or at least not on Tuesday I figured maybe we’d have a few more days until this happened but here we are Cody Bellinger is a Yankee yeah I thought we were going to see this in the new year so incredible that it happened now just to go over the full trade it is official 29-year-old outfielder slir baseman Cody Bellinger to the uh ghost to the Yankees for right-handed reliever Cody potit the Cubs are also eating $5 million of the salary in 20125 if the opt in if the opt out is taken in I guess and Bellinger is the Yankee in 2026 which I mean he might be a Yankee but he will not he will definitely opt out uh that deal will CS $5 million the next year also so they really I mean I don’t get it from a club perspective I’m sure you know people are discussing it I don’t understand it at all from a CB perspective but good on the Yankees for pivoting after jua they’ve done I mean it can’t be understated how tremendous of a job they’ve done yeah yeah this is what we needed them to do this is what we hoped they would do this is not what some people were expecting them to do because I don’t know why some people were expecting them to just roll over after losing Juan sto and here they go they get Max freed they get Devin Williams and now they have Cody Bellinger they’ve been I mean they met Scot sto and stuff they’ve been by far the most active team in free agency it’s not even close what the Yankees have done and not free agency necessarily offseason um it is the first Cody for Cody trade in major league history that has never happened um I will say that let him keep the beard he looks a lot better with the beard than without the beard get rid of the beard policy this year you bring in Bellinger dein Williams with the iconic beard let them keep the Beards this is the time to do it you’re trading for a lot of guys with beards let them keep the Beards yeah you know even Max freed has facial hair too just let him have it Devon Williams hasn’t shaved in six years don’t make him shave his face let’s completely nearly 2025 that beard policy is from the 70s George steinbrener has been dead for nearly 15 years now let’s just make the beard policy die completely agree uh Bellinger last year played in 130 games he’s a really good track record of playing throughout most of the year I know health is usually concern Yankee fans so you guys will be relieved to know that he uh last year finished with 18 homers 78 RBI with a 266 batting average 325 on base 2023 was the notable year with the Cubs he had 26 homers 97 RB hit 307 with a 325 on base so on base not much of a difference between his on base and his average he is a lot more of an average uh kind of hitter I do anticipate with a lefty power bat those numbers to go up in Yankee Stadium Chicago rle Field particularly is not an easy ballp part to hit in as a lefty by any means so you know it’s it’s a tough part to hit in as a power hitter regardless so I think his numbers probably will go up at least power-wise Bellinger is a 2019 um NL MVP he also won the 2017 national league rookie of the year Aaron judge obviously won the American League rookie of the year that year um so about the same age a little younger than Aaron judge but the same career trajectory came up around the same time he plays first base and the Outfield I wonder what the Yankees do with him uh where they wind up hitting him I wonder not not in the lineup particularly but also if he winds up being a first baseman primarily or an outfield I don’t think they’re going to split him and the Cubs did that the last two years where they would split his Outfield in his first base time I think last year he had about 60 games in first base he had about another 100 games in about another 90 or 80 games in the Outfield uh I I would think they’re I I prefer first base but I really wonder where they wind up going with this I would think it’s first base I would think because you have other people who can play The Outfield you know they don’t have a starting center fielder right now right so I mean a starting Cal I mean Tren gam can play but Cody Bell is obviously a way better player I I I wonder what it is because I mean do you have that if you go acquire Christian Walker for an affordable deal then you put Bellinger out in the Outfield it’s not it’s not a crazy deal either and then you can put valer in first base for a game or two and then and that in the Outfield yeah I wonder what the I think they’re going to search what what’s Your Gut on where they go second or third base is it going to be through free agency is it going to be through a trade what’s Your Gut say there because I think we’ve both resided to the fact that wherever they go it’s going to be Jazz flipping sides on whoever they they wind up acquiring right so if it’s a third baseman Jazz goes to second if it’s second baseman Jazz goes to Third right yeah I’m really not sure how they’re going to do this but I’m liking they’re making these moves because as I said at the top a lot of people were just giving up on them and it seemed very silly for people to give up on them after losing wodo because the off season really didn’t begin until then and I don’t know why people just thought the Yankees would capitulate and just let everything go like I just thought that was really strange so I like these moves I’m interested to see how how they fill the gaps that they still have because they do have a number of holes there that they need to fill but so far this isn’t a bad off season so a little bit of corre considered a little bit of a correction before um the Yankee the Cubs are eating two and a half million dollars per year it would be five if they did so it’s five total if the optin is taken also this is from reports which is think is crazy Cody Bellinger has been told that he will be playing center field and I in judge moving over to right interesting yeah so someone’s on their first base radar maybe it’s uh maybe it is uh I don’t know maybe it’s Christian Walker maybe maybe they’re maybe they’re after him and they they really uh there is a plentiful first Bas Market if they do those two moves that’s a good that’s a good thing if they did one or the other I can see why people would have an issue with it but if you get both those guys because again if you’re getting Cody Bellinger he’s playing in Yankee Stadium he’s a left you’re going to expect him if he stays healthy to have a good offensive year hitting in that ballpark you don’t need Christian Walker to hit 30 home runs you need him to play solid first base and if he still plays solid first base that’s all you can really want like you want your first baseman to play solid defense I mean would you want another Tino Martinez or another Jason giomi that hits home runs or a mar toer that does everything sure but if you’re looking at making Cody Bellinger the center fielder and Christian Walker the first baseman I would not have an issue with that off season at all yeah plus I mean they’ve they’ve also apparently this is coming out now also they uh they also have told Aaron judge that he’ll be back on the F at at uh right field good so Aaron judge is the official right fielder for majority of the time Bellinger will be playing majority of the center field that’s better for everyone it’s better it’s less wear and tear in his body it’s better for everyone that he’s not running around center field because as big as he is you know you think he covers more ground because he’s six but it’s too much on his body to play center field you want someone who’s a true center fielder to play center field so I wonder I I wonder what the uh I I wonder what the pivot is from here it’s it’s a it’s a terrific move I think your Outfield is pretty much set for next year I wonder what this means for Jason Dominguez like are they gonna there but but it’s hard to just throw a guy in left field who hasn’t played any left field but if he’s working out this year and practicing and if you work with him especially in steinbrener field where the sky is even worse and you put him out in left field and you just have there been reports that gonna do that because I don’t know what they what their thought I I can’t imagine not having him in the line especially building this lineup up too you’re not asking Jason Dominguez to be a a number three hitter in this lineup now you know what I mean you’re asking him to hit towards the bottom of the order maybe the seven or the six hole especially if you get Walker it lengthens the lineup even more I don’t think it’s that crazy I’m starting to feel like more it’s it might be Christian Walker at first base especially because you hav heard a lot of news on Walker this this offseason so far so the the deal might come at a cheaper rate than we might be anticipating so I think they might be playing that market out really well I mean you’re seeing with the Alonzo Market too that no one’s really interested I don’t think the Yankees are particularly interested in Alonzo either but the markets are all being played out really weird so maybe Walker’s in their moving they’re going to go with some you know cheaper kind of rental at second base you know I I I don’t really know what the move is I think right now I think right now i’ rather my my preference would be to sign Alex bregman for third base and sign just a really Shore glove at first and and you know a guy that can hit yes but you know you don’t because again like you said you don’t need to prioritize the Run scoring or the Home Run that’s not a priority right now it’s really not like you figured out the offense I think for in the lineup so far yeah little pieces here and there would be helpful but you got to think that Outfield if it’s if it’s truly Dominguez Bellinger J you could very well get 250 RBI out of that Outfield very well so I mean that right there is alone is really good they’re say what you want but I know the Mets got Juan sto I mean if you want to go to that Yankee Met debate I mean who’s had the better off season it’s not even close in my opinion it’s not even close it’s the Yankees yeah I mean obviously woto is a generational player and he’s one of the best players in baseball but altogether so so far and it’s only you know we’re filming this on December 17th there’s still plenty of time for the Yankees to make more moves the Mets to make more moves for everyone to make moves um but I’m just shocked that this like I said earlier I’m shocked that this happened today just because of the reports that came out on Monday where they were like oh yeah there’s still at a stalemate and who knows if this is going to happen and you thought with Christmas coming up in a week that maybe it wasn’t going to happen until after the New Year and they just announced they finally officially announced freed as in they put up the Instagram video with his highlights you know because I know that there was someone on fa and I can’t remember the host’s name but on Monday he was freaking out thinking why haven’t they announced this yet what is going on something is wrong and then the Yankees came out on Tuesday morning and officially announced that yes Max freed is a Yankee everyone calm down but background to that that a lot of that happens because it is the offseason yeah there’s a there’s they have to complete like there’s a there’s a union there’s a players union they have to compl a full physical with the Yankees doctors and everything there wer they weren’t anticipating anything being wrong but when Max freed could have been in Japan with his family on vacation right when this signing happened he could have been in Italy on a boat like you don’t know what’s going on in these guys lives it is their off season so he might have had to fly to New York get there do the so you don’t you don’t know what’s necessarily going on you know how it used to be where couples were Instagram official like once you posted your partner on Instagram you were Instagram official and now it’s where baseball teams if they start posting your highlights and they have the picture of you photoshopped into the Yankees pin stripes it’s real if it’s pH if it’s if it’s Instagram official it’s real in 2024 that’s just the way it works yeah so yeah I mean uh you know we only wanted to come on here for a quick bit give you guys a little bit of a live of a live feed uh we’ll be We’ll Be Live Friday night right I believe what’s the plan for the time wasn’t that our plan no no I’m getting
