hello everybody Welcome to the United stands I’m Mark goldbridge and we’ve got some big breaking news for you for Manchester United Ruben am Marcus rashford and Manchester United fans uh Marcus rashford has spoken and is effectively ready to leave Manchester United look one thing about Marcus rashford is we know it he’s always had a very um well I don’t want to say the word good but he’s had a marketing team around him for a very long time and what you can’t argue with here is is it’s divisive it’s decisive and I actually think it’s right I think he in in protecting himself and his future in the game it is better to step forward and meet the inevitable headon um I know a lot of people are calling in PR rashford again but I actually think this is the right thing to do um so what he’s basically saying is for me um as ask the direct question whether he’s staying or leaving this is his quote for me personally I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps when I leave it’s going to be no hard feelings you’re not going to have have any negative comments from me about Manchester United now some people are focusing on the when I leave um it’s going to be no hard feelings I would say focus on for me personally I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps that is a basic that is basically Marcus rashford saying he wants to leave Manchester United um and some of you might not be old enough to remember this but some of you will when Wayne Rudy did this that that you know you don’t come back from that I’m ready to leave I’m ready for a new challenge you know I want to leave you can there obviously that statement is open for interpretation but I don’t really think it is for me personally I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps I think this is great I think this is absolutely great I think it’s great for Manchester United I think it’s great for Manchester United fans and most importantly because it’s his quote I think it’s great for Mar Marcus rashford I actually feel quite relieved about this because I want him to go I think a lot of fans want him to go um I think the club want him to go but you don’t want to be in a situation where the player doesn’t want to go and when I say I want him to go I think it’s best for him I think it’s best for us I think it’s best for the club I think with Paul Pogba I wanted him to go but I I didn’t I didn’t hate the player I wasn’t toxic to the player I just felt that this great player that I really liked this talented player had reached the end of the road it was an amicable divorce and that’s fine because you wish the player all the best and you move on with your own path and I think that’s where we should be with this and it feels like we could be with this because I have to say I didn’t think rashford would be open to leaving I didn’t think he would be with the contract and you know Manchester born and bred and all the you know let’s be honest brand that’s gone with that over the years I didn’t think that he would be at that position but I actually I’m not I think I think that this this just shows a level of maturity and look some of it could just be they’ve been talking today today’s agency we can’t control this situation if we kick up a fuss and we say nothing and we don’t want to go we’re just going to look bad so it’s inevitable that they want to they want to sell you so the best thing we can do is Embrace that and be positive about it because that will make that that makes us look better to the outside world so maybe that what has happened or I hope maybe the player has looked at it and gone I’m not happy it’s not working out um I I do need to move um and look rashford can be relaunched to Arsenal say Zayn I don’t care if he does I don’t care if he goes to Chelsea I don’t care if he goes Saudi I don’t care if he goes Real Madrid I don’t care where he goes because he could go and have a you know he could go and Kickstart his career um and we could go off and rebuild a new Manchester United and it’s it’s very interesting what he had to say um that um where we are with him um sorry I’m just getting a message here um I I think I think I think where we are as a football club is that we need to move on now there’s a lot of stuff that was said by Marcus rashford um and I want to get into that but let me just get into some of your comments early on I won’t see City Dane Jane says I won’t sit here and say I’m over ened about this but it is definitely the right thing for Amin for rashford and most importantly for United uh thank you very much for that and Kieran says what price do you think we could get in January or the summer there’s look there’s an extensive bit to talk about which I do want to go through um and it’s coming from uh Henry Winter um so he’s he’s basically had the exclusive on this it’s interesting isn’t it because we had Henry Henry Winter on the show a few months ago and he’s massive I nearly said he’s massively up the ARs marus rashford and I’ve just realized they just did um no look everybody’s entitled to their opinion when we had him on the channel he absolutely you know he’s he would be Marcus rashford’s PR if he wanted him to he just absolutely loves Marcus rashford and that’s absolutely fine um so he’s wrote an extensive piece today and this is what where it all has come from and he said that rashford had a day off today so he returned to his Old Pro Primary School button Lane South Manchester and handed out 420 Christmas presents to all the pupils it was a long plan to event um to the Delight of the children one bear boy scarcely more than four had a special message for Marcus thank you for the food as well uh rashford will leave United one day possibly in the January window given the mood music inside Carrington but his inference will remain with many children across the country following his ongoing work tackling child food poverty it was emotional to hear that 100% rashford told me of the four-year-old’s words I don’t like to see kids go through I through through Growing Up So as many kids as I can help I will that’s why the program needs to go on for as long as possible and needs needs to keep improving wherever you stand on the rashford debate and he certainly generates headlines he’s been a Force for good in so many children’s life um at 27 and I’m not interested in what Henry Whit’s got to say on all this um so this is important we haven’t read this he was dropped from Sunday’s Match Day Squad against Man City by Ruben amim who questioned his application in train training rashford says it’s disheartening to be left out of a derby but it’s happened we won the game so let’s move on it’s disappointing but I’m also someone as I’ve got I can deal with setbacks what am I going to do about it sit there and cry about it or do my best the best next time I’m available um he woke this morning to the headlines detailing United’s desire to sell him I asked rashford if he’s staying or going for me personally and we’ve read this for me personally I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps all of his words were prefaced with respect for the club which has been his home for almost 20 years he said when I leave it’s not it’s it’s going to be no hard feelings you’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United that’s not me as a person if I know that a situation is already bad I’m not going to make it worse I’ve seen how other players have left in the past and I don’t want to be that person when I leave I’ll make a statement and it’ll be from me from the heart as it’s always be will as he’ll always be a red yes 100% 100% um he’s 27 peak time for a player combining experience and athleticism and he should be embedded in a team creating an even bigger Legacy I’m halfway through my career rashford replies I don’t expect my Peak to be now I’ve had nine years so far in the Premier League and that’s taught me a lot that’s helped me grow as a player and as a person uh so I don’t want any regrets from the last nine years I won’t have any regrets going forward because I take things day by day and sometimes bad things happen sometimes good things happen I just try and keep a fine balance The Best Is Yet To Come 100% that’s my mentality he craves an England return and chance of making the 2026 World Cup that still excites me he says it’s playing for your country in the biggest competition in the world I’ve had the chance to do it before and it’s an unbelievable experience if I get the opportunity again I’ll try and grab it with both hands um he’s also asked about you know uh the the what position he would like to play in left wing number nine or number 10 he says I have traits to play in all three possession positions some positions are more natural to me some positions uh I have to train more and do a bit more tactical work the left side suits me the best but amim doesn’t play 433 or 432 he plays with two 10 the left 10 still suits me but you have to adapt your game the biggest skill set is a DI adaptability people might not see it but eventually they’ll see I’ve played in plenty of different positions under all the managers um I need to sort of come back to the live chat again um I’ve I’m keep getting a message here I’ve just got to message this person okay that’s done um okay sorry about that I’ve I’ve got other stuff going on annoy the out of me this version of rashford was the result of the glazers says kill Robinson do you think that amim and rashford had a falling out so this can be compared to oel and Willian leaving Arsenal thank you very much for that odmar makes you wonder why he signed the New Deal says Mr Creed different mate why did he sign a new deal who was the CEO Richard Arnold who was in control the glazers who was the manager Eric ten hog rashford’s life was very different 12 months ago to where it is now new owners new manager new standards you know no more player power of course he ran of course he signed a contract I mean it’s completely different world 12 months ago the way the club was treating rashford is very different to way they’re treating him now so obviously I think you know that would have happened um do you think it’s a PR piece Mark um sjin says PR overdrive he should do all his chatting with the ball I mean look honestly the the there are some more bits to read but the only bits that really resonate with me is uh I want a new challenge I think it’s time for a new challenge that to me means means you want to go and I would hope that his PR team if it is about PR and another spin to try and get back uh through you know I’m brilliant or whatever um and I don’t I don’t think it is that because as I said when Sir Alex Ferguson told us that Wayne Rooney wanted to leave that was it for a lot of people with Rooney um and I think Marcus rashford saying that you know personally feels it’s time for a new challenge is a nice way of saying he wants to leave the club and that’s fine but you got to go like that’s it now I think it I think it’s got to end um Manchester United have obviously put it out there and I think they have put it out there that they want him to go he’s put it out there that he’s willing to go let’s keep it amicable amicable let’s keep that you know that that that that that way of doing things it benefits everybody um and let’s see what what comes of it because ultimately it it’s beneficial to everybody if this is just amicable and moves quickly um Emily Derry says something has gone wrong and is no long longer working between rashford and United going separate ways seems healthier for both all the best to rashford says Emily Derry sha Turner says that to me is a player who’s been told he’s not wanted anymore to say that midseason is ready to leave is putting teams on alert fair play he could have stayed on high wages exactly uh Patrick Lynch that was from Sha Turner by the way Patrick Lynch says best decision for him he still has a lot to give just not at United no point in him staying if he’s being affected as it clearly seems to be the best case and what price do you think we should get in January slthe summer says Kieran we’ll talk about that um and obviously Zayn is saying that he could relaunch him do you think rashford could go uh do good at Roma says I am this would be his fourth rebuild it’s time to go says Keel and this version of rashford was a result with the Gaz glazers um look a few of you going to be turning in a little bit late because um um or a bit early because we’re normally live at 8 o’ if you have tuned in early the big line is and it’s a huge interview by Henry Winter I mean basically what’s happened today is that Marcus rashford’s gone to his primary school to hand out presents and Henry Winter’s gone there obviously being told it’s going to happen for some I mean look this is this is planned like Henry Winter’s basically had a massive sit down with him um they’ve obviously picked Henry Wen Henry Winter because he’s a respected journalist who likes rashford you know the athletic haven’t had the scoop on this the telegraph nobody it’s Henry Winter who’s got it and they’ve chosen Henry Winter because is going to be very positive around rashford um they’ve obviously wanted to get their reaction out to the Manchester Derby and the situation and this is the power of Marcus rashford this is the power of the people around Marcus rashford and this is why some people don’t want rashford at man united anymore because a player gets dropped and he has the ability through the people around him to get one of the leading journalists in the UK up to Manchester so they can put out everything they want to put out to get hold of this story and portray rashford in a good light so that they can you know potentially you know get ahead of this and get control of it I don’t think Manchester United will be particularly bothered I don’t think we should be particularly bothered I think the key line for me is that he said personally he’s ready for a new challenge which translates to he’s ready to leave if he’s saying he’s ready to leave publicly halfway through a season then man united need to be moving him on you can’t keep a player at the I mean look ultimately now if you want to be completely blunt where we are now is the next time he puts a man united shirt on we look at that player and we know he’s ready to leave he’s checked out so there’s no uncertainty now which I’m grateful for I mean I think this is a very clever move I think it’s um a very good move I think it will calm the waters between rashford and the club I think it will calm the waters between rashford and the media and I think it will calm the waters between rashford and the fans because a lot of fans will be like fair play at least you’re showing some ambition we wish you all the best but you know he’s got he’s got to move uh he’s been told he’s being sold so selfish interviews says Red Army as much as he as he got under our skin says Jace I’ll never forget his debut against Mitchell land and then Arsenal gave us a lot of good memories time’s just up we’ve got our sacrificial lamb inos are hopefully cooking says delicate official um and oi said his statement has annoyed me a bit no accountability I wonder if he’s aware of his bad form and why says Ben profit look I understand that I understand what you’re saying but I understand that um some people are saying he’s not taken any accountability for the things he’s done wrong obviously he never apologized for Belfast but I must say in an interview like that it’s actually better for everybody that he doesn’t start acknowledging his bad form or anything bad because it’s basically an advert for people to come and buy him so you don’t want to put any negative stuff in there I agree with that you know speak about what you can do what you have done all the position you can play your Ambitions that is basically you know when an estate agent comes around your house and takes all the pictures and then they put it up on the website with loads of pictures and they talk about the area and how great it is and the local schools and everything like this that’s all that is Henry Winter’s the estate agent and Marcus rashford’s trying to sell so they they they they basically taken as many positive if you if you read that over again everything in it is a selling point I’ve scored all these goals I want to play for England still I’m really ambitious I can play in multiple positions my Best Is Yet To Come I’m ready for a new challenge it’s it’s all about promoting rashford outwardly and we want that we want that and you know he’s also there going you know I’m not going to start moaning at man united it’s not what I’m about I’m a positive person I’m a hardworking person um I’m not going to slag off anybody um so look I think it’s um I think it’s um hopefully going to lead to something thing that’s um best for all parties do you think this would have been approved by the club if not will they be pissed off says Rory it won’t be approved by the club it it won’t be approved by the club at all you you make a good point there’s no way the club are going to be happy but they can’t stop it they actually can’t stop it so I think the club will read it and go does it really cause man united any issues in many ways it makes everything a little bit better I believe I’ll believe it when I see it to be honest he has to leave in the next window can’t wait for the summer says John uh United have to take what they offered now for rashford um thank you very much Trish rashford was made a star during a dysfunctional decade at United is Patrick Lynch it’s no wonder that his career has been a mirror of United during that time him leaving marks A Line in the Sand and ultimately the start of a new era thank you very much Patrick and Andre says I have to admit seeing rashford leave is rather Bittersweet but I think it was due time hopefully he gets to play on a slower League where he can get to score plenty of goals and have a better better career um I still want to go through some of this because there is some some stuff in it here um he was asked if his days under amim look numbered rashford rashford will uh the last time rashford returned okay what’s okay okay I don’t know what that’s all about um the the the attitude of rashford Echoes his love of Relentless the book by the American mindset Guru Tim Grover rashford’s not falling out of love with football he’s still aspiring to achieve things in the sport that is his world definitely regardless of what gets said about me I have my own dreams I’ve achieved parts of it but I’m not at where I want to be but the problem is when you get there you create another thing it’s a cycle that never stops that’s not really the end point um okay yeah okay so look I mean know that’s it okay um sorry I’m getting messages again from people who know I’m live um okay so let me get back into what youve what what’s all been I’m just I’m just trying to read through it all because obviously we’re skimming it through this together reckons he can play a number of positions uh World Cup’s an aspiration best is still yet to come um I’m not going to make a bad situation worse I’ve seen other players leave badly and I don’t want to be like that um uh when I leave it’s going to be no hard feelings um for me personally I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps um it’s disheartening to be left out of a derby but it’s happened uh I’m used to setbacks um I’m not going to cry about it I do my best the next time I’m available look do we want to dissect any of that I mean realistically I’m just just very much focusing on the the biggest line which is for me personally I’m ready for a new challenge which as I said I read it as I want to leave man united which is great I is it great it’s not it’s not necessarily great but I think in the situation it’s great I mean I don’t think I don’t think anybody would have sat here two years ago if Marcus rashford said personally I want a new challenge I think we’ve been devastated where we are today with all the headlines and all the bad performances um and everything everything that goes with it I think rashford saying he wants a new challenge is great it’s circumstantial isn’t it two years ago I wouldn’t want him to be going now after the last two years I’m sort of like yeah it’s and and and the great thing is as I said it’s clearly best for him um Todd says what about Shaw I think Luke Shaw I think Luke Shaw should do the bloody say I mean he’s just going to be a drain like you know let’s let’s not I know we’re talking about rashford because he’s done the interview but I think Luke Shaw should be going as well I do I really do um you know he’s not played for a year went and played for England he’s had enough money out of Manchester United he’s never going to really play properly again I think he should go yeah Marcus rashford’s not the problem at Manchester United he’s one of the problems and he and he is a problem because he’s not playing well he’s not getting any better uh he’s a massive massive earner and clearly he doesn’t fit into the system so of course he’s a problem but he’s not the problem and there are other problems as well and and and I don’t sit here and I don’t anybody I saw somebody stay at the start actually in the live chat um goldbridge is finally for forced rashford out I I resent that I resent that I expect that sort of thing on Twitter amongst this community I’ve actually had arguments as recently as the summer with people about Marcus rashford so I don’t I don’t acknowledge that at all it’s incredible that people think that the fans or anybody could be forcing Marcus rashford out when ultimately all we actually want is the rashford that we thought we had a couple of years ago to play consistently for Manchester United and play well if he can’t do that then he needs to go um the fans Don’t Force anybody out the fans aren’t responsible for anything to do with that I mean Cristiano Ronaldo’s been ridol and lamb bastard all his career and still wins Balon doors so look ideally I think that um you don’t want to be in this situation but we are in the situation and you know can see a lot of people in the chat going on about PR and everything of course it’s a bloody PR interview I mean I I’ve read it three times now and there is a lot in there about me me me but I but I get it I understand it you’re trying to sell yourself to another club and I would rather that than an interview about you know negativity which we don’t need I said this yesterday this morning would you rather loan him or keep him till the summer and if you could keep him and he scored a few goals that enhances his value in the summer so for me it’s all about positivity now we don’t necessarily want him Sat On The Bench or or not on the bench for the next few weeks what we don’t want is in playing games scoring a couple of goals and everyone going let’s keep him again we can’t that would be the worst thing here the worst thing would be is if he has a little bounce and suddenly United are like let’s keep him and everyone says let’s keep him again because you’ll miss the boat and he has publicly said he’s ready for a new challenge so that’s you’re never going to come back from that really if you start scoring a few goals and then go I didn’t mean it I didn’t mean it I actually do want to stay now I I I just I don’t I think there has to be uh an end points now but where that when that end point will be it could be the summer it could be January but Manchester United have to why are holand and ammad on my screen here bloody hell um yeah United look I always think problems in life can be treated like a game of tennis you know something goes wrong something you know stressful happens it’s on your side of the Court can you bat it back to somebody else well I’d say since the Manchester Derby rashford’s had the ball in his court you’ve been dropped why have You’ been dropped why are you playing so bad you’re on massive wages you’re a drain you’re a negative blah blah blah well I think what he’s done today is he served it back into man United’s court and that’s very intelligent because rashford’s there now going look here we go here we go and um Manchester United now are going to put themselves in a position where if if a decent offer comes in that rashford wants to take and United say no then man united could be the problem here I’ve seen some brilliant football from rashford in his early years at United it’s sad to see him go but it’s the right thing for him and the club says jsh this should be a wake off wake up call for gacho and everyone else that if they don’t play well you can be dropped or sold says Henry just tuned in Mark what’s rashy done interview yeah so he’s been at his uh old school today doing some Christmas PR pres and Henry Winter’s gone with him who is a journalist and he’s basically given him a big interview um and basically said he’s ready to go and and he wants a new challenge um amongst a load of other things as well uh Bernard B says which player will benefit the most from rashford leaving um where can I find this interview says quackworth it’s all over social media am runs this club like goldbridge hash same person says Parker I think amarim runs this football club like many of us have wanted this football club to be run for a long time I mean I must admit there’s something highly exciting about amm just basically ticking off things we’ve been saying for months about sacrificial lamb and no more you know no more of this speaking openly it’s great but um look it’s still very early days uh we’d be lucky to get five million with the wages he’s on says Red Army and do you think this would have been approved by the club we’ve done that one from Rory seat as well um look I look going back to what Henry said I don’t think this has got anything to do with um gacho or ammad or Bruno or Mount I don’t think this massively benefits anybody I think what it does do is reset the culture in the football club that obviously obviously in recent years certain players got picked based on reputation uh ten hog literally did it with Bruno and and and and with rashford he continually picked them and that was to the detriment of Amad who is now one of the most exciting players in the Premier League so what I would say is if you do remove a rashford you free up um you remove that cultural bias um and and favoritism in the in the dressing room um which as we literally saw at the end of last season was a blocker to Ahmad so that’s a positive player Power Player power but as I said Marcus rashford doesn’t walk into Carrington and say play power with a cape on man united facilitated it and they were happy to facilitate it Marcus rashford didn’t sack Jose Mourinho Marcus rashford was not a senior player when Jose Mourinho got stabbed in the back when players went behind his back to Woodward so this is um Marcus rashford in many ways is um is a product of the environment he grew up in from a from a from a breakout teenager to today obviously he’s 27 now and people might say and and look at what he’s become but he wasn’t he wasn’t the Catalyst he wasn’t he wasn’t the issue he’s just grown up in it Mike Dean says stop protecting rashford I’m not I’m not protecting rashford what I’m saying is I think the interview massively helps everybody and I’ve always said I think it’s best for him to go so if he acknowledges that I’m happy because it’s also best for the club and best for the fans if he goes as well we need a reset um look I’m not going to leave it there if when rashford goes I still believe that I would love the glazers to go I mean that to me is the biggest thing I wish would go I want the reset and the reset of the football club is ridding ourselves of the glazers and debt and everything else but look everything else there are other areas and focusing on the playing staff we do need a reset there do you think they told Marcus to leave for the leak says sahill I don’t know I don’t know um what I do know is and we might talk about it more in the morning is that the club are very frustrated about some of the stuff that’s gone on around that um and we were going to talk about it on the 8 o00 show but obviously this has come in Hallelujah I’m a Diva blah blah blah when is he leaving says shareif moreover how condescending saying I will not speak badly about the club this club gave you life you should you could have never imagined says Sheriff um uh Winter’s coming up live on Sky apparently says Jags look in relation to Henry Windsor we’ve had him on the channel a few months ago he is the president in the media of Marcus rashford’s fan club he absolutely loves Marcus rashford so he’s not going to say anything negative he is the perfect choice to do this interview because what you want is a well-controlled PR piece about why I want to leave Manchester United and that’s what we’ve end up with I don’t really care beyond that um Mark never forget how good 10 was rashford was in ten Hog’s first season says Raymond I wish he stayed at that level for longer but it’s absolutely right time to leave I agree uh I was Constantine says I was ready for rashford to be ready for a new challenge way before Eric was sacked will he apologize to all the previous managers for his poor performances on the pitch I don’t think he needs to do that I think he just needs to leave me man says first Scotty now rashford how will um Robert McCormack cope where is Robert McCormack actually can we get a bit of a uh a safe and well for him I’ve just forgotten about that well well observed served Community um this should be a wakeup call we’ve done that from Henry as well lots of people getting their C comments in uh Ross McCrae magician says he’d be perfect for buern with Kad and Company if United or another club buys Alfonso Davis plus sales of a couple of players it could happen and uh Ray car Bron Amore hope you’re doing well says good luck rashford no playing hate for me he served his time and I wish him all the best yeah I don’t really um I don’t don’t really understand why anybody would hate and on anybody anywhere I mean it’s it’s football at the end of the day um and and on that point Victor says good riddance is the cancer in the team look I genuinely think that as I said 18 months ago Manchester United need a sacrificial lamb this was before amim came in ten hog was still here man united need a sacrificial lamb the sacrificial lamb is somebody that will just make the whole club go what and this is it this is it this is absolutely it it happened with Roy Keane in 2006 when calex got rid of motivation of this interview is I really don’t it has surprised me in a way because I do not think rashford really wants to leave Manchester United but then he’s saying personally he does you know wants a new challenge maybe he didn’t at the weekend maybe he’s been resisting it for a long time but maybe for the last few days they’ve sat down him and his team and gone there’s no way back like there’s no way back so we need to take our time on this and then we need to even though it might not what we want we need to embrace it and get control of it and the only way to do that is to say the words you’re ready to leave because you take control then for the last week it’s been man united want to sell rashford as soon as possible they’ve had enough if rashford comes out and says personally I want to go then suddenly well you know there’s a balance isn’t there man united want him to go but rashford wants to go so you know who’s who really cares you know so I think it’s um when you’re dealing with players like rashford or you know Neymar or mbappe you know the big names in football they have to respond like if PSG had said we’ve had enough of mbappe we want to get rid of him mbappe has to have a response because otherwise you’re Dam you’re damaging team mbappe and there are players that are big enough in the in the world game who are an entity themselves look at look at Ronaldo when it was going wrong with United Piers Morgan that’s what that was all about that was about brand Ronaldo that’s Pi Morgan interview annoyed me I wish it had been with a better journalist um but chat uh um but you know for me I think it’s a positive I think it’s a positive for all of us if Marcus rashford leaves to somewhere he wants to go and man united part ways we can start rebuilding and that’s apparently a malicious rumor so again is that a glimpse into the people around him CU I don’t think he was on Twitter I think that’s just you know terrified of any negativity but I don’t know what they thought what did they think like Marcus rashford’s up for sale well here he is 18 months later up for sale so we’d have been right anyway Marcus rashford future was in doubt when we did that but what we actually meant was the star boy of the team the star po star boy of the team his his future in the team was in doubt and lo and behold it is and was and you know this is what I mean why
