[Music] hello everybody and welcome in to Blue Jays today folks where today we’re doing a little bit of an impromptu live stream you we we didn’t plan on this but we saw an update that uh that concerned both of us and considering it is just so important this one player stays with the Toronto Blue Jays we wanted to discuss the latest contract negotiations that are going on with Vladimir Guerrero Jr there was an update in regards to a potential extension and not one that ton bluei fans are going to want to hear so we’re going to talk about that as well as the latest free agent news surrounding this team right now I know that it’s getting a little quiet on the Corbin Burns front but there’s been some Rumblings but some other guys right now that we want to discuss so a lot of stuff to break down in this one welcome into the 188 people on this beautiful Saturday after afternoon dude did you real sidebar for a second did you realize we’re like a week and a half away from Christmas oh yeah no I knew I knew that like I knew next week is like the final week of like kind of work a lot of work before Christmas so I was like oh [ __ ] like we’re really going to have to start preparing for that week off you know I like wow God damn you know like I was just on the phone with my mom she’s like so yeah like I I’ll pick you up like next Saturday right yeah next Saturday a week from now what I know it’s a while so obviously guys a little again sidebar speaking of Christmas break we’ll come out with some sort of alternate schedule for the Christmas holidays as you guys will probably understand y’all are going to be away for Christmas and the holiday season so we’ll come out we’ll tell you guys about that right now because we’ve been literally going live and doing these streams I looked it up this our now 13th day doing a podcast like that’s a lot of content we doing baby that’s right so if you Haven already done so hit that like smash that subscribe button this is Blue Jay’s freaking today folks so today let’s talk about Vladimir Guerrero Jr there’s been so much speculation about locking Guerrero down for time right now not just for the sake of him and his future with Toronto but for the sake of getting free agents convinced to come here right a massive argument as to why woto maybe never even wanted to come here at all is what’s your direction what’s your identity the one really good player that you have on your team right now he’s gone in a year and and everybody saying that that guy’s going to hit free agency so the Guerrero thing is like the the most important foundational Domino that these Blue Jays need to start getting or or need to have that fall over to do other things and it’s not even Wan stoto 2 it’s like also Corbin Burns also other Big Time free agent pitchers I like [ __ ] guys we’ve been saying this since the beginning of this free agency it’s like you can’t commit to these bigger guys this is always going to be the problem you can’t convince bigger long-term free agents to come over here when it’s like okay yeah you lost last year you have a a really great track record and Ross Z has talking about that well like you know we have a really great track record of what we’ve done here okay but that track record is looking like it’s going to end after next year like you’re going to be a losing team in the next four or five years if you don’t have vat or Bo or whatever locked up for long term so this is a massive roadblock and it’s not like we didn’t see this coming we all knew this was coming and the Blue Jays management has kind of I guess been late to the party in terms of offering the right contract for Vladimir Guerrero Jr so let’s talk about that offer that has just been uh has just come out right here from Mar Mike Rodriguez believe I think Rodriguez quoting Carlos right so he came out with this tweet right here according to Carlos bayera the star player Vladimir Guerrero Jr has chosen to reject an offer exceeding $340 million from the Toronto Blue Jason just to add a little bit of context to that Hector Gomez re tweeting this saying the blue jay’s offer to vlat Jr was made before the wot to sign with the Mets so there’s a little bit of context where okay well is did he reject it because of the wo deal no he actually rejected it because maybe he was waiting for wano deal maybe he thought he’s worth a little bit more but now that we saw what Wan sto got we were all talking about this well vlat and the rumors from Carlos Brer goes that well vlat is looking like for something around $500 million and and I and you know he’s with well within his right to kind of bet on himself like juano did and reject an offer that we can all agree like 340 at this point looking at juano did is not going to get the deal done at this time well it’s yeah like it it is crazy to think that we’ve gotten to that Mark now where it’s like three I don’t think the 340 is insulting by any stretch it’s still a fuckload of money there but yeah like you’re not necessarily in the right ballpark if you’re the Toronto Blue Jays now it is interesting to see that this happened prior to the woto deal maybe the Blue Jays were being a little sneaky right there thinking hey maybe we can get this one over the Finish Line before stto signs for 765 and blows this thing out of the water obviously Guerrero and his representation thought otherwise to it and probably very wisely decided to reject that one for now but this just indicates as to how much money it is actually going to take to get Guerrero to be here long term right this 340 maybe a couple years ago had you offered him that he would have smashed the except but now being one year away from free agency that number starts to really Skyrocket it’s just the proximity you know 12 months from now if Guerrero doesn’t sign that contract and he does have a good year then why not 500 or why not 550 or God only knows maybe he goes on to win MVP next year and then Steve Cohen gets involved and you know the number goes through the roof so when you get this close to free agency it just gets that much harder to convince these big time top tier talents who are 26 years old to you know to to sign a contract extension and not hit the open market yeah and honestly this whole vlat situation it’s the timing has been just way way off I mean well let’s play Let’s go back in the past a little bit before last season when he broke out you know what were we all saying I think we were all agreeing before last season like we would want to sign B bashet like B bashet was kind of the lead dog to get the extension because of how consistent he has been whereas vlat was coming off a down year for vlat still above average for most major league players but we weren’t sure like well vlat is going to be worth this star caliber money but he’s not playing like that right now and then what happens of course we see the opposite bashad has a bad year then vlat has a great year and then there was that window in the middle of the dog days of summer where vlat was saying I want to get extended by the Blue Jays I want to be here long term and we were all seeing the numbers going okay now his market value is starting to go up and we were talking about that could it be 300 you know and then later on it got well could it be 350 there was probably a slight window right there where Maybe I’m Wrong about this but if you offered that 340 right there maybe he starts considering it but we’ve crossed that threshold now where it started to get late in the season the free HC start to open up for Juan stto and V said and V’s can’t probably advise well let’s wait off a little bit right here let’s wait see what he gets and now that that Market’s been decided for top end young Talent it’s pretty much over he’s going to be waiting right now for free you know to I guess to to kind of look at it from the front office’s side of things I will admit that this Guerrero thing it’s it’s been tough to navigate just the way that his career has progressed right cuz he has that massive breakout year in 2021 and everyone thinks oh my God this is him you know we’re we’re here right now give him all the money in the world but you know you’re still quite quite far removed from free agency so nobody’s really feeling the pressure there and then he comes and he has kind of a Down year for his standpoint and then you’re wondering as Blue Jays fans it’s like ah like well what should we pay for cuz I do I I’ll I’ll tell you this right now had they sign cuz there’s going to be so many people now coming out being like well they they should have signed him before last year if they actually sign him to a $340 million deal prior to last season the whole conversation would have been like what the [ __ ] are you doing that’s way too much money so honestly like to the Management’s credit I guess I do understand how we got to this place but now that you’re here you got to find a way to rectify it I think that we all know that Guerrero is the Toronto Blue Jays the Blue Jays are Guerrero right there is no Toronto Blue Jays without Vladimir Guerrero Jr or at least one that I want to [ __ ] watch so seriously like this is one of those things where yeah like you know you kind of found yourselves in this terrible spot right now but you got to navigate it if you’re Ross ains and to do so it is going to require probably 100 more million doar than the 340 that you just offered right there and and then we’re all entering into a place where well do we believe that this front office based on all their calcul ations and that they spit out of how much a player’s worth is going to match what he’s going to actually get next free agency I guess it all depends on how he plays this upcoming season you know cuz right now how you navigate it I I don’t think there’s any reality unless you overpay the crapload of what you think he’s going to get like 500 plus you know I mean I I don’t know man like I think that if they were to offer and again this is speculation on my part here I don’t know Guerrero personally and I’m not sure what his represent uh representation is telling him right now but would anticipate that if you actually came to the table with a with a 12 year or 13e or whatever it is a 450 million contract offer now we are we’re seriously in the range where you know what that makes him take a moment and go okay wait wait a second here do I want to accept this because I always come back to the fact of yes there’s one year away from vlat you know coming out and you know hitting free agency and if he does do the same thing that he did if he stays fully healthy puts up a 940 Ops or you know somewhere in that range next year and then hits free agency yeah the number is going to be really really [ __ ] high yeah but you know what there’s some risk involved he could get injured he could also you know regress back to several other of the seasons that he’s had before I’m sure that he’s not thinking he’s going to do that but you know that’s in the back of his mind right there’s going there’s always that possibility see if you’re going to offer him a contract it needs to be serious enough that it really starts to make him think maybe I should just take the money now and not not risk a whole another year in MLB right well actually you just reminded me of what Robbie Hyde posted out here shout out to Robby Hyde guys great YouTuber we’ve known him for a very long time since the beginning of this Channel and he’s always supporting the boys so big shout out to Robbie Hyde he whipped this up you know totally non-blue Jay fan Whi this up and I I I like this a lot he’s breaking down every year of like what you know vlady could average potentially and how much money that would be worth essentially he came up with a number put 10% market value on that because he was think thinking about well you know with a little bit of competition how much do you think he’ll be worth it’s 12 years $466 million now if I saw that for vlat I’m saying Hell the hell yeah cuz it’s done we got vlat locked up we got our Superstar player for time and I absolutely love it I would even toss in this Wrinkle in here I really do think the way baseball’s going and you know you’re bringing up all these things like well there’s risk involved for vlat what if he gets injured but then there’s also risk for the patona Blue Jays you know what if he’s bad and then there’s also on the other side of things well what if he does really really good and he exceeds um the expectations of what he did what what he has for himself next year maybe he has an MVP year then maybe he should be worth even more money and maybe he has MVP years down the line well that’s where I think you should add in that player opt out option but then the the team opt back in option for additional aav if you’re also thinking about market value in his performance if you add in just like they did with Juan soda where you could opt out after three or four or W soda’s case five years and then but for us to get you back we have to increase your aav if you include something like that I think that makes it even closer and that that makes Vlad feel a little bit better about accepting now rather than in the free agency exactly like there’s definitely ways to navigate it and make him feel like you are still you are still betting on yourself but you also get the insurance of well if [ __ ] hits the fan you’re still covered you know like you’re still going to have generational wealth after this even if you break your leg tomorrow you know so yeah I think that there there definitely is a great element to that involved you flashback up Robbie High’s tweet right there I just did the math very quickly and I think that he does a really good job here of just you know like like kind of mapping out how how all of this stuff should be worth right here so 26 years old to 32 years old right there he’s saying that well on average Guerrero will be a five War player which is very fair I think you know maybe there’s some really good years in there maybe there’s a couple years where well we only play the games maybe maybe there’s one or two years where doesn’t doesn’t go our way five war on average that right there I did the math he’s saying $4 million average annual value for that type of production age then you look and you look from 33 to 35 there’s three years right there and the average annual value for that would be $32 million and then in those final two years it would be you know uh $24 million for that now he’s not saying I don’t think he’s suggesting that that’s how you structure the contract or anything like that but that’s how he pumped out the the number of 424 million which then he added 10% market value to ending up with that 466 I just want to give a little hats off right there to Robbie hot cuz I mean that’s a lot of brain work that’s a lot of brain work but it all kind of you know it’s that all makesense and this is actually like a pretty realistic you know expectation for Guerrera right there’s there’s going to be some good years there’s going to be some bad years there’s going to be some regression as you get older that’s just going to happen right but I I think you know if you can expect or you’re you’re signing him with the hope that he will be a five War guy for six to S to 8 years and then you know a four- war guy for a little bit after that and then you know maybe there’s a couple three or two War seasons in there right at the tail end of it but all in all 12 years 466 I think if you offer him that right now today I’m not saying that he smashes the accept button but I think that he really starts to think about it and I think that you can now start to bridge that Gap a bit more $340 million is just it it’s too it’s too far out of the ballpark I I I hear what you’re saying man and I I hope they I hope they can get rid of their whole calculations of what a player is valued at and then realize well do you want to save this franchise or not and it just sucks to see that you know when you’re think about Ross AAS and mark py their contracts of of being here in the Blue Jays is almost over you know do they care about the future of the Blue Jays is a whole other question but we’ll see when we get there also I see other people saying in the chat oh people are also saying Hector Gomez they are this is okay so this is a little bit off topic from the Guerrero stuff but it is important for the Toronto Blue Jays and the AL East in general Hector Gomez 43 seconds ago tweets out Source the New York Yankees are deep into talks on a trade to acquire Cody Bellinger from the Chicago Cubs the Yankees are pushing the Cubs to pay at least 10 millions of Bellinger salary with two more years remaining in his contract with the Cubs Cody B is guaranteed to be paid at least 52 million which also includes his $25 million opt out deal with the Cub so yeah I mean there’s been a lot of speculation on this Yankees looking at uh at Cody Bellinger Hector Gomez though I mean is saying that this is looking this is looking pretty good for them right now after they missed out on Kyle Tucker it felt like this was going to be their next pivot move yeah they were going to get either Bellinger they were going to get arado they were going to get uh Alex bregman they were going to do something exactly right and I think that the Yankees honestly like bu if they can they got to pull it off right now but you know let’s say that the Cubs do end up paying $10 million of of Bellinger salary maybe it’s you know every year or however it works out to be I think that they’re trying to leave the door open so that they can continue to make other moves you know honestly hats off to the Yankees like I know that they they lost juodo and that is a massive massive blow for them but I I do think that they’re navigating this offseason pretty well all things considered yeah no I I agree honestly I I am jealous of what they’re doing right now to be frank you know I I think that you know they’re being aggressive when they realized they were down bad and they needed to make a move to stay back in the competition they uh they they made a good move and also MLB trade room were saying twins are interested in resigning Carlos Santana that was also just so thrown out there but W um anyways that’s the latest on like other kind of people we’re going to be talking about more people later on this podcast I do want to bring this up because I see you looking at it too people were saying um Atkins to Alcatraz he takes a uh quote here from who is it I believe Bill Bill Madden was talking about this and this was actually very interesting it was two pieces of this not te makes right here uh so shout out to Bill Madden shout out to Atkins alates for this information he was talking about the pursuit of Wan sto some very interesting nuggets right here that apparently the Blue Jays uh you were telling me they were actually going to be offering woto money and they were the right Runners up again you know what like take take the woto stuff with the grain OFA folks because ultimately like there’s been so much misinformation surrounding that but Mill Madden came out and said that as it turned out Blue Jays actually had the highest runner up offer for woto I don’t know where that would put the math because apparently the Yankees were 760 Mets were 765 so what we we 763 I don’t know doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me anyways that’s what he was saying we were right there which goes against some of the other reports saying that we actually didn’t even hit 700 like I said take it with a grand if Sal what I do think though is probably pretty accurate here is when he goes on to talk about Vladimir Guerrero Jr and talk about teoscar Hernandez saying that Vladimir gr Jr is urging them to bring back T Oscar Hernandez and he goes on to say that’ll probably happen after the Dodgers signed Michael conforto I’m still not convinced that that will probably happen I think that there is a good chance that it happens I think that it should happen because honestly I mean I’ve always been uh in this offseason anyways more of a Sant andere guy than a Hernandez guy but if this helps you retain Vladimir gr Jr well that’s the swing for me you know what I mean like that’s honestly that now elevates Hernandez like throwback to um I know it didn’t work out for them but you know what the New York Jets when they brought in Aaron Rogers they got that guy everything everything he asked for they got that guy now it didn’t work out and I’m not saying that that’s what’s going to happen here but we are in a position where we have got to start planning to retain ladimir grer Jr if you want to maybe shave off a couple more millions of dollars from what his potential contract extension could be maybe bring in his best friend or even just get him to convince to sign right now like if you brought in let’s say you brought in Tao I think the people were around four years for T Oscar Hernandez okay let’s say you bring him in for 4 years that’s a little bit more attractive for Vladimir Guerrero Jr to make an like to smash an extension offer especially if you you know if they are going to do something and I hope to God they will do something where okay well now you have incentives after the or an opt out after the fourth year like after tail leaves like now you have a you have a decision extend that window a little bit we’ll cross that bridge and we get there yeah exactly like I’m not saying that this is going to move the needle for Guerrero 100% but it’s something right it’s just another one of the well you what saided this guy we listen to you we got him not only do you like this guy but we’re showing you that we value your opinion and you are an integral piece to not only just you know the on the field product but the roster construction as a whole and you know that these guys like when they’re big like this when they’re big like Guerrero they want to have a voice you know they know that they you’re not they’re not going to be calling all the shots but they want their voice to be heard so if Guerrero actually is urging the Blue Jays to go out into bring T Oscar Hernandez back I’m sure it will go a long way for him if you actually pulled that off yeah and then obviously I think one thing has happened for another like you know Corbin Burns want if he was going to sign here he wants to see a vlat extension but if you were to somehow make that Corbin burns happen before the vlat extension then you go to vlady and you go okay well now we have your Ace of the future right now and we have your buddy tals Hernandez do you want to sign this $466 million deal it just gets makes attractive now the thing is all of this requires a lot of money and right now to come back to this whole thing it feels like the Jays are playing a couple years behind you know what I mean it’s like it feels like we’re not playing in 2024 right now or 2025 feels like you know we’re thinking of this like it’s 2018 or whatever it is you know like 340 for Guerrero is way far off we were far off we didn’t even offer free to contract I keep saying and you keep saying they’ve got to get over this fear of overpaying or fear of over valuing because you’re never going to get anything done if you’re not actually going out and spending well and it comes down to we keep we keep saying it over and over and over again I know the BL this blue jay front office has paid for guys in the in the past but that was also because we had such a bright future ahead of us but without this bright future you now have to start paying a little bit more and I’m just worried that is this front office actually going to do it are they going to put away all their analytics and money and math and whatever and just go get the guy cuz you got to go get the guy or are they going to more stick to the business side of things and they’re going to not go beyond their projections or their calculations that I don’t know I we’ve never been in this spot we’ve been blessed to have a great kind of future outlook and everyone was hyping up the Jon so a lot of guys want to come here and sign and stay here like baros like Gosman like Basset like George Springer but we is that’s not a thing anymore you know we have to be able to pay a little bit more to get there and I I don’t know I it worries me that we that uh we’re in this spot right now of course it does man now before we transition from the Vladimir Gro Jr stuff there is one more thing that we got to talk about Bob Nightingale was I mean scaring a lot of Toronto Blue Jays fans with what he came out and said and he was saying that if he that if Vladimir gr Jr Hits free agency in his opinion he’s as good as gone seriously he’s as good as gone and the reason is there’s so many I used this word the other day in a podcast Psychopaths with the these massive checkbooks out there that are going to go insane for vlat and the one biggest biggest name that everybody is going to talk that’s already being talked about right now is Steve Cohen people are thinking that if Pete Alonzo does not resign with the New York Mets then now that they have Juan stto and now that they have their you know already like decade Long window with him well if they miss out on pet Alonzo this off season they’re just going to wait it out till next year and then go balls to the wall for Vladimir Guerrero Jr and create this tandem of Soto and vlat for years to come and honestly man that makes so much sense to me of course I mean well you guys remember Boston was flirting around the idea of having SoDo vlat and Raphael Des the Dominican Trio right there and being like hell yeah that sounds awesome and yeah I mean that would suck ass and I mean we’ve been hearing a little bit about like Pete Alonzo and how you know there’s not really a market for him right now and you know maybe that leaves the door open this was actually suggested by Jay’s Journal like if there really isn’t a market maybe he comes to the Blue Jays well if the Blue Jays get Pete Alonzo then that’s their Vladimir gr Jr replacement and then Vladimir Vladimir gr Jr goes over to the Mets and then and if you look at that in a vacuum you’re like well that’s a big loss we got an older we better win the World Series next year you know next year or nothing right like that’s literally it so yeah in a vacuum be not a big loss if won the World Series but yeah like that’s just not how we got to operate moving forward right and yeah can the Blue Jays outbid Steve Cohen for Vladimir Guerrero Jr next year if he has a great year I don’t know no I I don’t think so I’ll tell you right now the answer is no I mean we we won’t we just actually won’t right Steve Cohen has has the ability to say eff it and to go far and above what his initial projections ever would have said the Blue Jays don’t have that ability they just don’t also keep in mind if the Toronto Blue Jays suck this year I think you’re going to get a new management Corey in I genuinely do and and if that happens well maybe those guys are thinking all right we’re at we’re at base zero right now let’s start from scratch and build this thing up there’s a lot of moving Parts in this if I was Guerrero and Steve Cohen is offering me effectively a blank check to go and play alongside Juan sto and create this like Dominican Powerhouse I’m doing it right and that’s no disrespect or or I guess no uh you know fault of Guerrero like I I agree with that I think that that makes a lot of sense so yes to Bob nightingale’s point to everyone on the internet’s point if he hits free agency and if the New York Mets are actually in this race seriously then I do think he’s as good as gone yeah yeah I I I I agree there’s no way now you know who needs to step in is Edward Rogers because Edward Rogers apparently gave Ross Atkins the green light to go and and this is again this all what we’ve heard about wot apparently other Reports say otherwise but Edward Rogers has been given the green light for Ross ainson company to go spend but they keep sticking to their valuations this was per Ben Nicholson Smith I kind of want to believe in Ben a little more because he is closer to everything going on in the Rogers Communication company so I want to believe that but again we still don’t know but literally if Steve Cohen is the owner of the Mets then the owner of the Toronto Blue Jays needs to step the in and he he puts the contract on the table that’d be the only saving grace or you fire Ross Atkins but then there’s the the risk of okay well then what is this new guy G to have is he going to want to let vlat walk and then fig start all from scratch and start his own new regime or would they want to start make start off their new regime with a big splash keeping Guerrero and building around him you got to put you got to put the hammer down man like seriously if you are Edward Rogers like you got to you got to have that moment where you say just like Steve Cohen did I ain’t losing this thing shout out and thank you to Ryan let’s go Ryan chat that’s a great transition for me to say thank you so much to the 552 people that are watching this live stream right now impromptu Blue Jays today live stream didn’t plan it but here we are if you guys haven’t already done so hit that like smash the Subscribe button your name will pop up just like Ryan did right there that’s the stuff that’s going on right now with Vladimir Guerrero Jr let’s transition and talk a little bit about Alex bregman this was somebody that we were rumored or reported to potentially be looking at a couple weeks back well apparently this past Monday they were showing some interest but now we’re not showing that much interest talk to me about what do you think about this whole thing Ben takes this quote saying blue jay showed interest in bregman on Monday but doesn’t list them being Ari Alexander right here as a strong Contender to sign him I mean yeah I mean it’s the same [ __ ] over over and over honestly I’m getting fatigued seeing the Blue Jays being interested and and and in and and and being aggressive and then falling up short and I’m going to be quite Frank like I don’t think we’re getting Alex bregman you know like it Alex bregman feels like again the same conversation over and over again of like he will only come to a team if he knows there’s a winning window if it’s because he wants to get six seven years right now of a lot of money well who do you have lat signed up no okay are are you going to willing to overpay for me right now it looks like the blue JS aren’t willing to overpay for anybody okay well then buy like it’s the same for me it’s the same [ __ ] maybe I’m just getting a little pissed off at the Blue Jays management right now but feels like the same [ __ ] again I need to see I need to see some results yeah of course right they need to go above and beyond and they need to overpay like we’ve been saying and ultimately I did believe that Alex bregman and what he was looking for was a bit much you know I don’t really want to give that guy $250 million or whatever it is he’s looking for so if they do decide not to seriously pursue him then I’m okay with that but it is just another one of those things that’s you know part of this trend that we don’t really want to go all in on these free agents in a year that you keep saying that you want to be competitive in right so it’s just it’s not adding up and this is what’s not adding up to me if they actually went and overpaid for bragman it’s like okay you could have overpaid for burns you could have overpaid for s you could have overpaid for your star guy Vladimir guo Jr right now but you decide to overpay for Alex bregman for me it’s like if you’re going to overpay for anybody why him well you know what I’m saying okay sure yeah but you know I I also think though that that’s not that is not factoring in that it is tough to convince these players to come here that it is you know what I mean it’s like ultimately I think okay yes I agree bregman if I had to tier rank them all like would be lesser than these other guys but at least I can look at you and go okay you did something right you did something and maybe you believe with your analytics that this is going to help them be competitive cuz ultimately I mean they just traded for himz I don’t think that’s going to make a huge difference they seemingly do maybe they feel the same way about bregman at that to me is still better than doing nothing quick shout out here to Danielle cter with a $5 Dono saying just give ly the bag now so we won’t have to worry about this anymore that’s what I’m saying just [ __ ] pay the guy that is that is what everyone’s saying but that that is not the reality of the situ ation here folks it is seeming more likely now that we are going to have to worry about this not only this off seon but during the season and during next off season no it’s going to be a very stressful 2025 you know you thought 2024 was bad you know we were just worried about winning ball games in 2024 now we have to worry about the literal future of the team in 2025 because again there’s there’s no real great outcome depending on what happens with Vladimir gr Junior season if he pops off and has a great year my God we’re we’re screwed like Steve Cohen’s going to get that guy someone’s going to overpay for Vladimir gr Jr and it won’t be the blue jay’s front office if he sucks well then what do we do you know what what is his value I don’t know like like we don’t know there’s a lot of question marks so it’s tough tough also this is an interesting note right here from Hector Gomez I just saw this now this is just speculatory from him but it’s it’s roughly where everyone else is thinking right now too he was responding to this report that they offered him $340 million and he was saying that I think vlat Jr’s aspiration is for a450 to 500 million contract which does seem to be at least right now in the range as to where everybody’s kind of projecting him to land M I can’t really find it right now on his page it’s in Spanish so maybe that’s why oh okay I had to translate it anyways that’s what he’s saying $450 to $500 million for that to me I think that makesense to a lot of people in the that makesense to Robbie Hy that’s what might get you over the finish line and honestly if you did offer that if you offered you know 450 or whatever it is right now and he says no I think I need to go to free agency well at least we can hold our head high as Blue Jays fans and be like all right you know what the front office you did you did your job you tried your best right there he said no that is what it is that’s the thing unless you like really overpay and give him the dollar amount shout out thank you who whoever just subscribed unless you give him the dollar amount that he’s betting on himself to eventually get next season then he’s going to then you can’t you got to respect the guy right like think about Juan soda who left the 440 million or whatever it was from the Nats like he bet the hell on himself that was three years removed from pre agency and and he really B on himself and he got paid for it where Vlad you just got to do it for one more year my guy one more year you prove it well you respect like if you reject like a 450 460 offer from the blue Chase well clearly you’re betting on yourself to get 500 100 million more dollars in respect like you can’t convince a guy if you do give him the money you know if that’s not convincing him then that’s all you can do that’s all you can do quick shouted here to Laura Le Z asking or or saying doesn’t anybody know how many years they offered latty with that 340 million offer the numbers mean nothing if we don’t know how many years offered that we don’t know we have no idea um I would argue though that the year probably isn’t actually as important though like I I well it is um but I I would anticipate it’s probably like a 12 year 13ear deal type thing which at that point I mean that’s too many years for that amount of money right if it was like eight years for $340 million well maybe you get that across the finish line but you know maybe not it all it all depends so I I hear your point right there um but you know uh oh chilltown saying the offer was for 10 years I don’t know if that’s confirmed or not I just know it’s $340 million and for Guero right now that’s too little and and honestly 10 years like this guy still would hope to be in the MLB after 10 years so you know for him he wants to so he wants to get the value of what he’s doing right now getting paid when he’s 38 cuz like after the 10-year contract I mean what kind of contract are you going to get you’re going to be performing at your Peak so he’s going to want like 12 13 14 years you probably yeah like this is you’re going to sign one one deal if you’re vlat you’re going to sign one deal and this is going to be the one that is okay you know for your entirety of your career so we’ll see how it all pans out right there everybody but right now not looking too great if you are the Toronto Blue Jays no not at all not at all especially cuz you have like the like we brought up a little bit earlier the Yankees are looking at Cody Ballinger the Yankees are also looking at you know Alex bregman like if they go add Alex bregman they’ve already added Max freed they just traded for Devon Williams like we’re so screwed like we are so screwed if we don’t go and add any other free agent right now because right now the free agent Market is is very quiet all the rumors around the Toronto Blue Jays like we we got to go do something or else I mean what’s even the hope of competing like it’s going to it’s going to piss me off to no end when you say you want to be competitive and then your one big move is Andre Zena is like that’s not being competitive that’s that’s kicking the can down the line until you’re neverita be fired no of course not right and I mean right now I don’t I see no reality for the Toronto Blue Jays to win their division and that should always be the goal right when you walk into the season any season the goal is we try to win our division first that’s number one mhm mhm I don’t even see that as being a reality right now you know like they’d be trying to the best case scenario is they’re playing for you know the second or third Wild Card which honestly that even seems way far away but you know that’s even like I guess I can kind of maybe see a reality potentially that that’s in the realm of possibilities I just don’t see any any realm and possibility land where they end up beating out the Yankees the Red Sox the Baltimore Orioles all of them next year for the division right and there’s got to be more moves made to even have a shot at doing that no right now we’re we’re clear fourth fifth place like right now walking into this next season we are fourth and fifth there’s not a chance of how our rosters better than the Orioles Red Sox and Yankees so if they don’t go and they make any more moves don’t buy into their propaganda of like oh yeah we’re going to you know our new new hashtag is the come up like like like you know F off like seriously you you’ve done such a terrible job running this team do not try and sell me that this team is good unless you go sign one of the big dogs like Corbin Burns you extend VL you extend Vladimir Guerrero junor you you can convince me a little bit about the future of this team you can buy me back in but without that without signing Burns without getting in Anthony s or bring it back to ask Hernandez don’t sell me on anything don’t do it yeah no I I I agree man now Corbin Burns I know that we’ve been rumored to be uh to be in on that for a while now but there hasn’t been too many updates there was an article that was just revealed 45 minutes ago uh talking about just everything all the questions actually like after the winter meetings and stuff like that they’re just referencing that according to Mark feinste we already knew this the Giants and blue jays are considered to be the Front Runners um I mean I again like I’m I’m starting to think that you know as time continues to take on and on and on this feels like and maybe this is just my pts talking feels like we’re being used as more of a a leverage play than anything else to get the San Francisco Giants to up their offer um just as time continues to go on right here you know the last thing we heard was that he was meeting with the San Francisco Giants and I think that meeting we can all kind of assume at this point is hey can you increase your offer the the Blue Jays are apparently offered me this much I do he wants to be a San Francisco Giant which kind of sucks like if we get this guy like did you even want to come here he came for the money uh but regardless I won’t give a [ __ ] if you’re pitching like a sub three but that’s the reality right now if they don’t increase their offer then it’s a possibility we we could cuz again that cor Burton same boat he’s going to sign one more contract probably and that’s it you know unless he does like a verland or Sher stays healthy and he can pitch like one or two more seasons at the end when he’s like 40 yeah but that’s it he’s got trying to cash in right now and all the respect to him if you want to go get that money go get that money you know and whether it’s on the blue look if you come to Blue Jays you won’t be a 75 win team anymore I think’ll be at 78 80 you know so come on come on over so that’s where it’s at right now that’s why it’s taking a while because they’re going back and forth right now also just skimming through this article again man like everybody every single person in in baseball and MLB thinks that the Toronto Blue Jays need to do more need to do a lot more the one of the question right here is which teams need to make a big move that’s the question which teams need to make a big move he goes on to say that the Blue Jays have had to Pivot after missing out on stto uh but they need to do a lot more to become series contenders the pressure on the Blue Jays to act is particularly intense with Vladimir Jor and B bashed both entering their final year under Club control and their once vaunted rotation starting to show signs of decline I mean like that’s when we’re being honest with ourselves yes right and it just it feels to me like uh like Ross Atkins and Mark Spyro refuse to be honest with themselves big shout right here to Matthew strong is it possible to Forfeit uh the season for a draft pick or two this would Sav a lot of pain I mean if you doing the complete rebuild then yes I mean that’s the thing right I would say there’s three p right now we’re at we’re at the crossroads going back to what you were saying you know if they want to save their window and keep competing you extend vlat you get Burns in here you make all the Big Splash you spend all the money boom you’re down One path other path on the other side of things is what Matthew’s saying HT next year trade Guerrero trade bashet trade everybody get get prospects you know get a really high draft lottery odds and and commit to the rebuild boom there you go the other Middle Road is my least favorite which is it feels like what we’re doing not really you know going and competing we don’t have the money we’re not going to offer you a lot but we’re also like not trying to sell everything because that would be really bad to see and everyone would hate us and blah blah blah blah blah we’re going to play this Middle Road and then that road leaves spoiler there’s a giant Cliff at the end of that road and it’s going to be a terrible fallof because you’re not going to rebuild fast enough and you’re not going to get back to winning fast enough and it’s terrible but it’s but it looks safe going down it it’s a safe road and then there’s a giant Cliff so right now that point right now you don’t have the capability uh right now as the Toronto Blue Jays to be dipping in both pools right it really is one or the other and this is what we were discussing last season at the trade deadline right we were I was even saying it’s like okay I think it’s time to ship off Basset to ship off a couple other guys with control and really dip our feet into the rebuilding pool right they decided not to do that they shipped off the one-year guys and they said that our goal is to be competitive next year year now I didn’t really agree with that at the time but okay if that’s what you’re saying that’s what we’re doing this is the direction at least we have one at least we’ve picked a direction that we’re going in this is why this off season is so frustrating though because they’re coming into this thing and and they’ve said that the direction was we are trying to be competitive next year we’re trying to maximize the the time that we have with this rotation and the year that we have left with Vladimir gr Jr and B bed but so far that hasn’t been the case so far it’s like we’re just you know like to your your point we’re trying to play a little bit of both sides right here and it it does not make any it’s not going to work for anyone and you are going to drive Guerrero out of here and you know the fan base is going is already frustrated like there has to be a decision made by this front office if you’re actively going all in then great [ __ ] do it man but if not then do the alternative and at this point I actually don’t care anymore just pick one and commit to it picke pick a Lane right and that’s what’s going to piss me off even more when you you you clearly pick the lane that you’re just kicking the can down the road until we inevitably fall off a giant cliff and and you know we’re ruined for years but don’t try and sell me that this team is going to be good don’t show up to those press conferences and and tell me I’m speaking about Ross Atkins that you know we we got lots of talent off pun like honestly shut the hell up man like seriously like I’m I’m sick and tired of it I you either you you make a move now or you got or you open up if you’re not making a move you open up and say look we we didn’t have the offseason we wanted we’re not and so now we’re going to make directions to try and uh flip this whole roster over like pick an effing Lane exactly right and that’s that’s another thing too right well if you you come into this off season maybe your goal is to be competitive but maybe with the amount of money that you have available and and considering the squad that you are right now all these free agents that you try to Target they’re turning you down well if that’s case then you do need to have that hard conversation with yourself and decide to Pivot and that’s okay you know like I be okay with that if Ross Atkins actually comes to that realization it’s like all right [ __ ] like we couldn’t get SoDo we couldn’t get Burns we we tried to get Santa there we couldn’t get that guy either you know like we shot our shots here we tried to make some trades but like it wasn’t enough right there maybe the best course of action here is to actually start a little bit of a rebuild yeah and you know what if you realize maybe that realization comes halfway through next year at the trade de line you’re like all right we gave it our last shot we did everything in our power hopefully to do what we can and now we have to commit to the rebuild because if you’re if you’re at July or nearing the end of July near the trade deadline and we’re 10 games below 500 yeah I want you to sell vlat I don’t care like it’s over like he clearly doesn’t want to be here oh maybe at this point he wants to go test the market well you could still be in on him and see if he can get him back maybe it hurts relationship I don’t know but you got to you got to do something different this one isn’t working no I get that man like it feel and it does feel to me that as of right now uh you know you never know what happens right maybe bobett has a crazy bounceback year and you know George Springer hits you know runs into a couple and stuff like that and we get a little Lucky in that regard that’d be great um but it does feel like more times than not come trade deadline and this is pure you know lots of things happen here of variables but more times than not this team would be a selling ball club and if at that point you don’t have that Vladimir gero Jr extension locked in and it’s not looking promising then that is going to have to be the really tough decision that you had to make I was listening to uh to ball ball cap Sports he made a video talking about this whole Guerrero thing and everything like that and I actually agree with what it is that he had to say here um he was saying I don’t I don’t I’m not saying that they’re going to do it I’m not say that they’re going to do anything like this but you’re going to start to hear a lot of Vladimir gr Jr trade rumors talk people are going to be calling about them because if you’re that far off in contract evalue like if you’re more than $100 million off with one year to go yeah how are we going to bridge the gap here boys no no exactly you’re you’re not like it it’s very it’s it’s going to be terrible also just someone uh someone brought up lots of 2025 tickets available I want to just I’ll show this I’ll show this if you’re really wondering this is opening day I have man I have never seen this in years this is opening day look at all the empty seats available this is opening day against the Baltimore Orioles this is terrible yeah I mean you got your usuals obviously all your season ticket holders down here but nobody down here nobody in the 500s maybe maybe it’s sold it will fill up it will fill up as sell out like when was the last time the Blue Jays didn’t have a sellout opening day this might this could be the first time in a while and that’s depressing we’ll see man again there’s lots of time left time left hey if they sign Burns extend Guerrero boom you fill it you’ll sell you’ll you’ll s yeah seriously like you’ll you’ll sell out immediately but that’s the problem well folks I think that is where we’re going to call this one for today all of you guys thank you so much for tuning in let us know your thoughts down below about all the Guerrero and just
