welcome to Bruins overtime live presented by bi toyota.com for offers Not Seen On TV visit biat toyota.com Adam Peller and Barry Peterson Andrew Ray coft here with you as the Bruins skate away with a 2-1 win over the Red Wings in Detroit back-to- back wins for the Bruins both one goal wins for the Bruins and boy that third period the Bruins stood tall and their Captain came through that they that he did on a five on five opportunity getting the big goal and un questionable ice we won look at but that to me was by far and away their best period of the Year under the circumstances you’re trying to turn things around you’re on the road you outshoot them 13 to four you didn’t sit back you were very aggressive right from the get-go your specialty teams were good for you all the little things it was a good road win felt like a grape ruins win yeah felt like w’t you know again it just it just looks right it feels right um they’ve made some adjustments on in all three zones PK PK especially they’ve made a few adjustments that really paid off tonight but it was the mentality in the third period that we’ve been kind of waiting for they’ really haven’t been good in the third period they’ve only scored nine goals going into this game 10 now but the nine goals in the third period all season long which just isn’t a staple of this team they’ve been so good at closing out games they’ve been so good at coming back and and imposing their will on teams and they did it tonight and and the 13 to four they could had 20 shots realistically they had many more opportunities that will will continue to come as the confidence builds winning games like this and the PK had to come through right up to the final horn because Brad marshan who did score the game winning goal commits a late penalty a hooking call as uh Lucas Raymond draws the penalty and you can see kind of grabs BR Maran stick and that’s a veteran move by Raymond as he tucked that under there but Marsh he’ll be the first to tell you that’s a bad penalty at the wrong time in the wrong place of the ice and Razer I will bet you that was a long 122 for him sitting there in that box huh yeah the cat and he knew what he was up against and what he was in and he was certainly the biggest cheerleader in that building for the final 122 and I just love did a great job Elias Lind Homer just saw 65% on the draw tonight he won 13 of 20 draws a couple big ones there on the penalty kill and then uh really nice job sway gets to see a little bit of that he gets off the bar he gets a little puck luck which he certainly hasn’t had any of that this season uh just a real real gutsy finish on the road that’s as good you feel real good getting on the plane after that one yeah the Red Wings power play had been very good we talked about on the pregame show they were and this adjustment here just to jump in sorry to jump in on your staff but to Lindholm comes underneath allows zor off to jump out we’ve seen the forwards going over there and giving up a scam pass back against instead just giving up that shot uh really nice job by the pek Yeah important to point out Raaz for sure and then I was just finish just to finish that thought they were 11 for their last 26 on the power play the Red Wings were 0 for four tonight and more importantly the Bruins penalty killed now eight for their last eight yeah and I think too the other thing playing off what you just talked about uh the team defense uh zaka pasta marshand and Lind Holm who you expect to get your offense had some chances yeah but more importantly to me their team defense was there the chances will come and you know you can see zaka once he gets one he’s going to get three or four and uh the chances were there the opportunities to shoot you’d like to see especially David take a few more shots but at least now it’s coming from the defensive side you have good structures and layers and it’s coming from a winning side that the the way you feel tomorrow morning the way you feel coming to the rink on T on Monday and on Tuesday that that helps those goals go in somehow nice day off tomorrow you think oh yeah yeah Beauty finally they finally like a nice quiet reling Sunday game winning goal came at the 11:30 Mark of the third period but it was the icing call before that that was huge yeah you can see the listen to the crowd reaction I I didn’t think this was icing Razer I thought our guy number one like I thought he was there uh tereno thought he was there Peak didn’t maybe um but again a nice nice play too nice face off play you get the little bit of the rim going you got David working the W the wheel and then tereno the one who thought he outmanned the icing turns the puck over Peak makes an easy play and I mean that’s Brad bar butter yeah it is and uh you have to give the Coach credit there too right he threw Maran out there with pasta off it but look at pasta going around here in this play the set play he’s moving but they do a good job Detroit of of being ready for it they sure they uh kind of spi that one away but the Bruins did a good job of keeping the puck deep winning the battles and Martian once he came out got in that slot position he released it but it all started off the icing he took advantage of a call that’s a little questionable but so be it right you take advantage cuz you know in a long season those things have a funny way of evening out yeah they deserve it they deserved it tonight the the play tonight deserved it and that that looks like game three in uh the Scotia Bank Center against Toronto in the playoffs last year that short side showell start of the game presented by Subaru of New England fall in love with a brand new Subaru as you take a look at the numbers for Brad marshan against the Red Wings that’s 42 points in 42 games his 80th career game winning goal Bruins history one shy of tying his buddy Patrice berson for second place on the Bruins alltime list the captain standing by with our own Billy jaffy all right thank you very much RI before we get to the game I want you to take us onto the ice or maybe into the Penalty Box that late penalty I want to know what’s going through your head and what did you think when you hit you saw that crossbar hit yeah just obviously anxiety uh terrible time to take a penalty um but you know the guys bared down uh bailed me out uh so I definitely owe those guys dinner couple of games in a own now where your PK has been a Difference Maker what do you feel what do you see different about it yeah Special Teams our PK definitely we’ve had one of the best penalty closing league for a very long time and it just seemed like everything was going wrong early on uh definitely bearing down right now so made a couple huge saves uh I mean special team is such a big part of the game now and and uh you know Brad did a great job there getting that first one getting us going in the game and uh you need that to be good in this league dare I say that was a classic Brad Maran shot there as you kind of swooped in on that side you ticketed the upper corner you take us on this and you tell me what you saw yeah uh P did a great job actually started with pasta uh making a great play to get in deep and and uh same with be get it in uh yeah that that was vintage I haven’t done that in a while I’m sure that felt great all right lastly speaking of feeling great two wins in a row now both good solid victories you’ve probably done this one other time during the season you talk about building off that does this feel a little bit different do you have a little more hope that you can yeah we we definitely know we can but uh you know we still didn’t have our best game um you know there’s some good things that we we can take out of this game that we can continue to build on but um you know like I said it’s it’s not easy to win this league and and you have to be happy about it so uh we’ll be excited but uh we have a lot of work to continue to do and um continue to get better but it it’s definitely something that you get excited about and and we you know we’re starting to understand how we need to play to win just four shots allowed in the third pretty darn good one cross bar too but we appreciate your time congrats thanks bu appreciate it and we’ve talked a lot about the Bruins third periods this year uh in terms of the numbers worst in the league but over the last couple of games getting the job done especially tonight yeah they did it was uh again as you’re trying to get build some momentum and win these big close games it takes confidence raising your team defense that once you have that in place now you start swarming off of that you get your offense off off good chances like that great play by sedor coming back and diving in there but a lot of the Bruins offense was generated off their def defense structure and layers and that’s something we haven’t been able to say all season long no we haven’t they just haven’t been close enough to the puck Timmy did the breakdown before they game about how close they got uh to the Utah players the other night and it was very similar to tonight you know picking pucks off having stripping pucks getting takeaways uh picking up bobbled pucks that they weren’t picking up just 10 days ago to be honest with you so uh it it’s just ref it’s really nice to to see what we expected to see on game one of the opening night in the last few days and it’s second effort it’s getting pucks back after a four check and off a dump and creating opportunities and again pucks geeky geeky could have scored nine goals tonight his head goes up that’s going to go in sooner than later he’s going to continue to pound away and they are going to continue to get rewarded for a cast like here with a great hit in the neutral zone he’ll feel confident ripping that on net and they’ll Banger Rebound in going forward so a lot of positives a lot of POS confidence as you say Razer will come off their team defense it comes off of winning these types of games uh on the road you totally dominated you didn’t sit back at all in that third period at one time it was 81 shots then it was 122 shots and it ended up 13 to4 in the third period on shots and the Bruins did not sit back and they did not give uh Detroit an inch to breathe and that’s what we talk about when you hear the coaching staff and kind of the identity of this team is you’re a tough team to play against it doesn’t mean you’re running you’re out of the building you’re dropping the gloves it means you’re taking space away you got layers every time Detroit turned it around bang There was a brewing right there that’s the way this team and this organization has been so successful over time it sounds easy and it sounds simple right but it’s not it’s just the top teams in the league who do it consistently but it takes work ethic it Joe sacko mentioned specifically in his introductory press conference we talked a lot pregame show about the goal tending said you could easily started Jonas Corpus solo tonight but the one thing that we talked about was you hope Jeremy swan has in front of him what Corpus solo had in front of him in terms of Team defense on Thursday and Swan had that tonight but with that said Razer had to make some big saves he did and and you have to make big saves every National Hockey League goal has to make big saves that’s the name of the game the the offense in the National Hockey League now is is at an all-time high and you have to make saves like this and for Jeremy I think he saw the puck really well all night I think the D did a good job the penalty kill did a good job and then of course he was there to make the timely save he was there to stay focused and find pucks through some of the traffic and top of his crease smother nice piece of plywood not opening up not turning not anything near through him uh the timeliness again just staying on top of his priest making that save it was it was a really nice effort but just you saw it after the game his reaction he was fired up but not only to kill the penalty at the end of the game but but to get that win it was an important one for him I’m sure he was fired up for it and and he he deserved it and you like these numbers tonight against the Red Wings a lot better than his last two starts again what’s happening in in front of him also contributing to some of these numbers but it’s got to be a great feeling for Jeremy Swan uh to skate away with and remember as we always talk about too Adam the most important penalty killer is your goal tender last two games was a really good example of that right the Bruins have not allowed a power play goal but their goalies have played very well and you make a good save at one time you your team’s in trouble you you’re able to make a save and get a face off and allow the team to kind of change up and get things going again bending is a very important part as well obviously uh for this organization and right now you got two hopefully goenda in the right direction yep back-to-back wins now for the Bruins 2 and 0 under interim head coach Joe sacko as the bees take a 2-1 victory over the Red Wings in Detroit
