I remember working I think it was about my third game in that League it was called the cash League it was the central amateur senior hockey league it was Thunder Bay and then a bunch of teams in Manatoba mainly out of Winnipeg and I remember doing a game and you know it was a pretty routine game nothing really went on and again like I’m really wet behind the ears here and uh I remember they lost a game I don’t know it wasn’t really close maybe 73 something like that and at the end of the game one of the Brandon players came over and he tapped me on the shin pads he goes kid I don’t know who you are but that was the best officiated game we’ve had in this league all year so that kind of gave you confidence right because you uh you know how officiating is it’s it’s all about trying to be confident not not the arrogance or anything like that but just being confident so you know that guy you know said that and I really appreciated it but it really did say okay I can work at this level and uh and you know move on you know maybe to the higher levels which eventually happened uh down the road so oh that’s so important like you you said like wet behind the ears right like that like a lot of people they they want to get there yesterday right they don’t want to put the time in and put the grind in
