welcome back to Ottawa as the pre-tournament continues it’s Canada against Sweden on this Saturday night at TD place the second of three pre-tournament games for the Canadians who will wrap it up against the cseds is 18-year-old milker toen returns from last year played two games with the sweds last year place for Bor glovin in Sweden’s all spens in their second league and Jack Ivan kovic gets the start for Canada the 17-year-old from Mrs Saga eligible for the upcoming draft place for Branton in the Ontario Hockey League his second year there Magnus havid in his third year as the head coach of the Swedish national junior team got them to the gold eight players back from that team and Dave Cameron coach Canada to a gold medal in 2022 in Edmonton this is his home building he’s the head coach of the Ottawa 67s of the Ontario Hockey League always a great battle when these two teams play Sweden won two nothing last back down low and picked up by Sam Dickinson the London Knights sorted out as starts dancing around and then just the wrer through traffic Ian kovic can’t find it bfist just heads up leans on it easy save if you can see it but with the layered screen that’s a good pass from Sternberg out to the blue line and bar fist straight through to give Sweden their first lead of the [Applause] game now a steel chance back in front and that was thrown there by Richie talked about the sweds and their success in the round and then not so much beyond that 20 and and then just can’t find a way at the end Einstein moves in and shoots bouncing puck in front Force F all reaching for it it’s thrown down by guts if somebody finds schaer sends it back in front to Le knock that away b a hard shot hit leg and bounce wide here’s Richie back on it good pressure on by Canada against tired Swedish Defenders Cowan moves in BK another shot scores Oliver bon fires it deflected in front and Canada’s tied the game at two another local kid does [Applause] good Relentless pressure and Puck paddles long the boards eventually get Canada with a one-time opportunity for bunk but really good work Richie hanging in there battling hard getting it to Cowan kicks it back anden just misses that that catch a piece of something it dipped but that’s a save right in the middle of the net heavy shot and the way that Keno is able to compress the zone at that point Bon’s not shooting for the Blue Line he’s 15 ft he’s almost at the top of the circle there as well as cow digs that free card for Richie with a quick shot and toen makes the pad save Mullen dij on it taner Mullen DIY for Richie feeds it back across just Mis count with that pass a race for it now rof gets there along with how in comes raikov backhand shot toen makes a stop on that he wins the face off tap back to Cow for shaer with a shot he ripped it high that’s what they wanted exactly what they wanted draw it up here’s Richie loose in the corner with it Cal Richie down to Nido Nido throws that back to schaer across he goes long shot by Richie scores deflected past toine and Canada takes a 3-2 lead Cal Richie with the tip now that maybe not what they drew up but it worked well I me you get pucks to the net yeah that’s tough it catches the back to Victor eckan like the jersey of atlin right but it all started with a Faceoff win possession and where you find Space against Sweden is at the top of the offensive zone and we’ve seen cow out there a flexing kick on that release from Richie he’s out there even though no no one’s around the front of the net just yet and they get a fortunate break to get control to find Space you go to the top of the offensive zone you get rewarded centering pass brought in another chance there this time Richie wins it back to Cowan Works to the Middle East and cow a shot scores here’s the way to defend the lead there is how you do it add to it and E cow’s roll continues busted coverage here as Cowan walks across and no one is there to take him Vander from the wall doesn’t want to chase across the top Stenberg gets Frozen with the shot fake and he count smart he starts 5T off the hash mark So Vander can’t put a stick on him right away trusting go oh now go stick snapped that M Nike and hit the outside of the post now a centering pass goes back to B with a shot that was blocked by back around by eckan and candle will move on to it’s home a Canadian Tire Center for one more pre-tournament game on Monday and then the start of the 2025 world junior Championship on boxing day against the fins Final Shots 4424 in favor of Canada
