[Music] so this is it today we are heading over back to the rumor mill because we had ourselves some ideas tossed out there and written about by some of the NHL’s top insiders and they happen to revolve around my favorite team the Vancouver Canucks now I’m going to leave a link in the description of this article it was published earlier this morning on the athletic NHL trade Matchmaker predicting where the top targets go by the NHL trade deadline part one and here’s the thing LeBron and Johnston both take turns they write about these players they both give their own opinions as to where these players will end up but a very particular name brings itself into the Vancouver conversation and it’s one that I honestly don’t really agree with so without further Ado let’s go out there onto a tweet published by Buck foston which goes out there and describes what Chris Johnston says about Vancouver according to Johnston the athletic is predicting where top targets go by the deadline and one of the destinations for Yanni gourd is Vancouver he would arguably slot more seamlessly into the conu lineup as a third line Center and here’s the thing I read the Tweet read the article as well and Pier LeBron actually does predict gourd go somewhere else he predicts that Yanni gourd goes over to Toronto Chris Johnston predicts Vancouver for the veteran Seattle Kraken centerman and yeah that’s right it’s kind of weird but Yanni gour is a veteran now he’s 33 years old if you can believe that kind of feels like yesterday that he came into the league with Tampa Bay and started doing really good things over there his 64-point campaign in 2017 2018 will always be the moment that I think stands out the most in Yanni gord’s NHL career not like he want a Stanley cuper or anything but still Yan gourd pretty okay player 33 points last year 48 points the year before that 48 points the year even further back than that but this year he is on Pace for 36 points so a little bit of a decline but the thing is I think he actually has started to score a little bit more as of the past little while here I mean yeah there you go seven points in his last 10 games three points in his last five Yanni Gord started out the year really cold with Seattle this season and with him being placed in the bottom six of their lineup it wasn’t really all too good for him in that situation now with the emergence of some other guys like Shane Wright and Brandon tanev and extra guys making their impacts known Yanni gour has slowly started to creep himself back into relevancy although I will say the Kraken have lost four games in a row at the time of recording this audio the thing is though with Yanni gourd I don’t really see him as a fit in Vancouver now the main argument for Chris Johnston is that the Canucks are in the market for a forward they were interested in bringing in some other guys up top and Chris Johnston’s main idea here is that gourd would be a perfect third line Center for Vancouver and honestly I kind of disagree is Center really an area where the Vancouver connects need support at the moment they’ve got Pon they’ve got Miller and then they’ve got other guys who can play center like Max assassin like puder like Teddy bler even if you exclude the younger guys Max assassin ATU ratu okay forget about these guys you still have sudor bler and even Danton Heinen not to say that Yanni gour is like worse than any of these guys but how much better is he that it would be worth it for Vancouver to make some sort of a trade like this I honestly don’t think it would be worth much sure you can say he’s better than maybe a Teddy bler or whatever maybe he gets more points than a Danton hen but some of these other Canucks guys who are capable of playing Center have been very capable this year and even with Teddy bler to be honest he’s been one of the more consistent players the kcks have had on their Center core especially when you consider the inconsistencies out of guys like Alias Pon who is on and off hot and cold and even JT Miller who didn’t even play for a month now I get it not playing for a month doesn’t really make you bad or anything but for JT this season he definitely has not been all too great especially when you consider his lack of backchecking you know who doesn’t lack the back check Teddy bler bler and sudor have been some of the more versatile useful middle to bottom six forwards on this Vancouver conu team I don’t think Yanni gourd would be that big of an upgrade unless the Canucks were able to get him for cheap I mean gourd his contract this season goes on till the end of the year is at 5 million bucks 5 million bucks for a guy playing in the third fourth line in Seattle not great and ultimately if you were to get some sort of a trade done you would need to get salary retention there maybe even double salary retention for it to really be worth it for Vancouver but then again the value goes up if you do that ultimately I do think because gourd is such a lower of the lineup player even though he is a capable energy guy even if he is a capable maybe 30o player maybe 40 points if you give him a higher role even if he is that good I don’t think that he has too much trade value considering the contract so any sort of value is going to be with salary retained right I just don’t really see that as a move that alv rather would make they’re saving all this cap space they’re sending guys up and down up and down only to go out there and acquire Yanni gourd sure they could acquire some other stuff too especially if they get gourd with salary retain but he doesn’t really seem like the guy that Canucks would go out there and make a swing for especially for some significant assets even a lot of the replies go out there and talk about how this doesn’t really make sense for Vancouver 33-year-old guy another Center another left-handed Center too I mean I mean the only way I see this actually making sense for Vancouver is if and it’s a very big if one of aias pson or JT Miller gets traded and even in that scenario you’re probably looking at another top tier Center coming back along with some prospects and picks so it doesn’t really seem like a fit here unless of course you were to trade away Miller or a peton and even after that trade you still needed to get yourselves another middle to bottom six caliber Center to fill up the holes in your lineup but then again you know I don’t really know if there’s any trade the Conex could do with Miller or Pon that makes them a better team especially since it’s been pretty clearly established here that the Canucks are looking to add and that they’re in a spot where they need to make the playoffs and do some damage this year Quinn hughes’s contract at 7.8 mil one of the best contracts in the league if not the best it expires in 2026 2027 so they do have a limited time frame to go out there and capitalize on what deal is able to give the Vancouver Canucks When Quinn hughes’s contract expires and he resigns he could get upwards of 13 to 14 million he’s that gosh darn good so ultimately in terms of the bigger picture I don’t really see this trade making much sense for the Vancouver Canucks what in the world with the Seattle Kraken want for Yanni gour what do they want for him if their salary retained as well I mean he is a rental the contract goes on till the end of the season only so I don’t really think that this would actually work for the Vancouver connects and what they’re trying to build I can deal with trading away a Tom Vander or somebody for arasmus Anderson I could have dealt with trading away uh laraki for a gel or something assuming they kept him but Yanni gourd sorry I don’t really see it so the article is going to be linked in the description if you want to go ahead and read that yourself but let me know your thoughts in the comment section below do you think Yanni gour is an appropriate Vancouver conu trade Target like Chris Johnson goes out there and talks about Pier LeBron wrote about gourd as a Leaf’s Target so if you think that’s a better fit then let me know your thoughts in the comment section below but for now I hope you enjoyed this vsh as99 and bye [Music] [Music]
