some fascinating Champions League action tonight and doogie critchley is back with us this morning to look ahead to it all with us uh doie always great to speak to you about the Champions League we’re going to start with arsenal of course they welcome Monaco to the Emirates interesting thing with this is that like a few other games tonight both teams are sitting on the same like points I think they’re both on 10 points aren’t they yeah they’re both in a good position to qualify automatically but it’s incredibly tight after Liverpool who obviously have that faultless record there’s a number of sides between points on 13 to about eight uh so it’s incredibly incredibly tight so a win tonight for Arsenal could push them up into second uh if Dortmund and Barcelona draw uh and it’s been a difficult time for Arsenal obviously they’ve dropped points regularly in the Premier League this season I think few fans would have expected them to be six points behind Liverpool at this time who obviously have a game in hand as well but their Champions League campaign really caught a light last time out against sporting CP they only scored three goals in their first four Champions League games but they scored five against sporting CP who just lost Ruben amarim of course and tonight they face an interesting test in Monaco who are currently third uh in Lega but they’re only five points behind PSG who have struggled to score in recent weeks domestically uh and Arsenal’s uh record against French opposition is really impressive uh their home record uh in recent seasons in the champions league has been pretty faultless but Monaco carries some threats you know Addy hutter uh their manager was in charge of gladbach he took IR TR Frankfurt to the semi-finals of the Europa leag League set up that side to then win the Europa League under Ole glasner in 2022 and so far this season atast Ben Zar who’s come through their ranks they always have exciting young talent and he feels like the next one off the production rank so if Arsenal want to get a result tonight keeping Ben Zar Qui is going to be the key let’s talk about Manchester City then they’re back in European action tonight last time out they threw away a 3-nil lead to then draw three all with vord tonight they travel to Juventus what are you thinking of this match yeah well I think when the draw was made Ellie I think a lot of people would be really excited for this game but given the form of both sides it’s probably not looking as mouthwatering as it once did you know man city have only won one of their last nine games in all competitions which is just remarkable to think of a side that have been so consistent in recent Seasons uh and you look at that record on screen just nosan Forest heavy defeats in there to the lights of Spurs and Spurs again in the Champions League uh in the cup sorry uh sporting CP in the Champions League there as well but Juventus have had had a really interesting season themselves they are unbeaten in Syria they’ve got the best defense in Syria but they’ve drawn nine of their 15 games uh five of their 20 games in all competitions this season to finish nil nil so Thiago motto was brought in from bologna after the max Allegre era finished and he was supposed to bring much more Dynamic free flowing attacking football and so far they’ve really struggled to score and they go into tonight’s game without arcadius milck their backup Striker although DUS vavich has played very well in the Champions League so far and their outstanding Center back in brema So Man City despite their recent form I’d make a slight favorites and people forget that Arling harand hasn’t really felt like he’s been at his best this season but he still scored 18 goals in 21 games he’s taken the most shots he’s had the most shots on Target in the entirety of Europe so there’s still a key threat for Juventus to try and contain without their best center back as well so I make Man City favorites but it’s probably not going to be as entertaining as people may have predicted three months ago when the drawers mate yeah good point actuallyy it might not be as entertaining as as we were hoping when the draw was made but one game that does look potentially entertaining tonight in Germany seventh against sixth brusso Dortmund against Barcelona what do you make of this one yeah this one should be amazing contr to Juventus Man City because Dortmund have been remarkable at home they’ve won eight their nine games at home this season in all competitions Barcelona been amazing away from home uh they’ve scored 37 goals in 13 away games Barcelona’s recent form in the league has taken a little bit of a dip uh they’ve drawn against ctao they draw against Real Bettis at the weekend they’ve just lost to last p mass and Ro sidad recently they’re now only two points ahead of Real Madrid who have a game in hand as well Russia dortmund’s form has been really inconsistent in the Bundesliga they’re not really in the title discussion whatsoever uh they’ve drawn their last two games though against Bayern Munich and brissi Munch and gladbach and in Jamie gens who’s already scored nine goals this season which is four more than he scored in the two pre two previous campaigns combined they’ve got a real threat and with Thomas tuckle taking over the England job in just a few weeks time a Bundesliga star a league that he knows so well and Jamie gon’s really farring at a time where rashford is not really playing that well greish foden so we could have a new left wing sensation especially if he has a great performance tonight against Barcelona that’s only going to do as England calls a lot of credit [Music]
