and this one tonight with Davidson and Charlotte Davidson home game here laying nine with a total of 140 in this matchup uh this evening Matt Cox you’re going to discuss this one first coming up here this evening for a Davidson team that is 6-2 against Charlotte out of the American C conference what Drew you to this game here well it’s a big rivalry that’s I think the kind of key element to this handicap these teams are very familiar with each other they play every year um very close by so for the road team Charlotte who I’m going to back here it’s not a major travel uh this a team that’s been off for I believe a week now they just played a they played a non D1 game about six days ago it’s back to our discussion earlier this is a team where I think the lay the the the layoff helps it’s been a team that’s been very banged up since the get-go both of their starting bigs are probably actually out tonight Jeremiah Oden’s been out the entire year I think he’s supposed to be out for the whole season for Charlotte and then Gian car Rosado the stud big guy from FAU who many might remember uh he’s been a key piece to the Charlotte offense I believe he’s out tonight as well all that said I think they have an updp with their guards and their wings to play a Davids a team that frankly I’m just not a huge fan of in terms of laying number I think they’re really solid well- coached team it’s not a team I want to lay points with and given Aaron Fern Charlotte’s head coaches familiarity with Davidson scheme he’s now seen it for I think two years now in a row um had success against it last season I just think this game plays really slow if anything I kind of like the under in this one as well 140 does feel pretty a little high given it’s probably going to be a mid-60s possession type game uh that does tend to favor the dog again the familiarity the Rivalry aspect I think there’s enough uh bullets in the chamber for Charlotte to keep this within one two possessions most of the way and Davidson just to put a final bow on this has had a now two-year run of struggling to out games they they’ve last year was a huge issue they couldn’t take care of the ball they couldn’t make free throws so I think the back door could be wide open in this game even if Charlotte does get down double this early I think there’s actually a path for them to come back uh and make some shots late maybe apply some pressure and keep Davidson on their heel so yeah I think a lot lines up a lot of avenues to covering for Charlotte Charlotte as I see it for uh this Davidson team they were playing in the Bahamas Jeff one of your favorite mte uh Arizona put 104 on them they then beat Providence in a low-scoring game relative to that 6958 but then Gonzaga raced out and got 90 then they barely beat Charleston Southern by one but I know you’re going to refer to Charleston Southern also beat Miami at Miami so maybe uh that’s not just an indictment on Davidson all right thoughts on Davidson here laying the nine I think we we heard where Matt’s headed what do you think about this including the total Jeff well I have some concerns here for Charlotte first of all he mentioned Rosado probably out um I mean that’s concerning because he is the big and the way they run offense as Matt knows a dribble hand off that’s not ideal to have him not out there uh number two our pal Matt Jordan majusi makes a great Point Charlotte is the worst team in the country uh in points per possession uh as far as a Cut Rate they allow the most points per possession in the country uh with Cut Rate at the rims so concerning because Davidson is is big on moving around and cutting that sort of thing um I don’t know I can see the point though I mean Davidson is is a group that’s not as strong as in years past this is not the ones with Bob mckellip leading the way um they’ve been I think better the last couple of years and Charlotte’s going to muddy up the waters in this game this pace is going to be very slow uh very deliberate it’s going to be very much in the half court and look Charlotte can stay in games because of their ability to get to the free throw line they are a lead getting to the line um I think it really is going to come down to Charlotte getting the right official in this game um 27% of their points have come from the free throw line that’s fourth nationally um they’re really good at at getting to the line so without Rado though is is concerning if he was in there I could totally agree in fact I don’t think this number would be at nine it’d probably be at like seven but I could see the point match making I’m going to root him in we saw Julian the viewer with the question what about Davidson running out in the first half uh any any thought on a first half play Maybe Jeff if not the full game yeah I mean I think you know anytime you uh you bet a game a full game you have to assume that you need the first half to kind of come in if you want any shot to to hit it in the second half uh and cover the game I didn’t look at it it’s not really something I I normally bet someone made a point to the under Matt mentioned it I think that’s probably a great play as well this kind of seemed like 71 65 live or something like I could see that um seemed just just a bit high it’s all going to come down to the official though I mean if you get a handsy referee that that calls everything and Charlotte could get to the line 35 times all right let’s lock it in here on the second game that we’re discussing the first official play from Matt Cox for this week is the Charlotte 49ers he says give me the nine on the BET us line for this game at Davidson tonight I’m looking for my TV that is ESPN plus from the Bel arena in Davidson tonight just want to um throw one other thing out against Liu Charlotte got to the line 53 times that’s insane they lost they down in that game they they getting blown out in that game too that was like that was a rock bottom Charlotte is terrible moment for me um so yes that that is not lost on me as I handicapped this game trust me that was bad nonetheless he thinks they’ll be good enough tonight over the course of the 40 minutes and maybe Beyond Charlotte is the play [Music]
