🕵️‍♂️ Transcript:

so in this New York Yankees news and rumors video I am going to be talking about the latest pertaining to the Yankees this 20242 MLB off season the latest news regarding the trade market the latest news regarding free agency basically all things York Yankees I’m going to be going over in this video let’s get right into it so the first Yankees news item for today actually talks about a division rival free agent that of course being Anthony sandend reportedly having mutual interest in the New York Yankees this off season so lgy or let’s go Yanks X tweeted out the New York Yankees and Anthony Santan D of mutual interest per e bowl and 11 so there actually has been some mixed reports on this regarding the interest that the Yankees have uh potentially in Anthony santand from what I’ve seen so far in social media is that santand is guarding a lot of interest on the open market with teams specifically like the Toronto Blue Jays and the Boston Red Sox not so much the New York Yankees so take this for what it’s worth but Anthony Santander could definitely be an option in the outfield for the Yankees this offseason especially given the fact that wota has to part of the team this offseason as well and Alex fugo is probably not coming back either the Yankees have some holes to fill offensively speaking as well as defensively speaking Anthony santand there definitely accomplishes that if you were to go ahead and play left or right Fields now Anthony Santander this past year for the Baltimore Orioles had himself a phenomenal year at the plates he put up a 2.9 War season 140 hits 44 home runs a 235 batting average a 91 run scored 102 rpis two stolen bases an on base of 308 a 506 slug an Ops of 814 and an Ops plus of of 134 so for Santan D who is going to be 30 years old in the 2025 campaign he still has a bunch of productive years left I would imagine is going to get back to his you know 44 home run season that he had this past year for the Orioles I mean so his uh just from a law of averages perspective probably not but he’s definitely going to be getting himself a pretty decent contract and if he can be you know a four or a five maybe even a three- hole hitter in the Yankees up for instance and if you can hit you know 35 Plus home runs in a given season that replaces the loss of woto when it comes to um hit some extra base hits and all that kind of stuff so Anthony santand there is definitely a good I guess fallback option for the Yankees in regards to their Corner Outfield he’s a switch hitting right fielders that’s obviously pretty good news um if you’re a Yankees fan uh but he definitely could be a nice constellation prize you know obviously I think Yankees fans would love to maybe get a different player perhaps but santand there is a player that can hit for base hits hit it you know hit it out of the park obviously if you were to go to the short porch here uh in the Bronx he could perhaps have himself a pretty good season so sanon definitely checks the Box in regards to a power bath and someone that can play in the corner Outfield Now is it going to happen I guess only time will tell but also too if the Orioles lose santand there they get worse the Yankees get better they’re better off in the division uh for 2025 and Beyond so we’ll keep it on Anthony sender potentially taking his talents to the uh you know New York Yankees when it comes to free agency so now shifting gears a little bit more to the trade market now this actually has been speculating and you know it was reported on a couple days ago now nothing has been official at this moment in time but could there be a trade on the horizon it very there very well could be with Cody Bellinger going to the Yankees so uh John Heyman on X tweeted out still a dollar Gap in Bellinger trade talks with the Yankees and cubs as of this minute uh it’s a matter of quote who blinks first if ever still could happen but yank’s also considering Alonzo Walker Santana Nathaniel Lao and probably others so John Heyman one of the best in the business is reporting a bunch of different names to the Yankees uh Pete Alonzo Christian Walker Carlos Santana Josh Naylor Nathaniel Lao as sort of consolation prizes if a Cody Bellinger trade does not take place now the Cubs made a pretty big time move a couple days ago now by acquiring Kyle Tucker from the Houston uh Astros the Ines of course were in conversations with Kyle Tucker as well but nothing really transpired there so perhaps they shift their attention towards the trade Market with another player that being Cody Bellinger so the biggest deal here which it has been reported on for quite some time now as well is how much money the Cubs are willing to retain in a Cody Bellinger trade according to John Heyman at this point the two sides are just too far apart regarding where they kind of see Bellinger’s value now the Cubs don’t have to trade Bellinger per se I do believe he has one year left on his deal if I’m not mistaken um Beyond this season so I think there definitely could be a trade that could definitely happen now he’s making a lot of money I think he’s making what around around is it $25 million per year or something around that if I’m not mistaken so he’s a very talented player don’t get me wrong uh but his money just for the Yankee sake is a little bit too expensive but where Cody Bellinger brings a lot of value is first and foremost his age he is just 29 years old at this moment in time so that’s pretty good there he can play first base as well as the Outfield as well so when it comes to defensive versatility uh Bellinger checks both of those boxes he’s a lefty bat and he has actually shown in the past that he can be a pretty productive player not the best of years for him last year a bit of a step back um as compared to 2023 but he had a 2.2 War season 137 hits 18 home runs a 266 batting average 72 runs scored 78 rpis nine stolen bases and on base of 325 a 426 slug an LS of 751 and an LS plus of 111 so Cody Bellinger offensively speaking you know brings some pretty solid value to the table as I mentioned before with him being a first file Defender he can play center he can play Corner Outfield he can play first base as well that checks a lot of the Yankees boxes there so as of this moment in time the Yankees depth chart in regards to position players kind of looks as follows um in the outfields they have Aaron judge at right uh they have Jason Dominguez at left and they have Trent Grisham at Center so could Cody Bellinger perhaps bump one of those guys out he very well could be they have Ben rice as the team’s current first baseman on the team so I he’d be a nice upgrade for them there but as I mentioned before the only thing kind of holding this trade back is not necessarily which prospects are going to be going uh the Cubs way or which players but is more the dollar value value it’s more the retention value on Cody Bellinger’s contract so we’ll keep an eye on this week coming up about if a Cody Bellinger trade to the Yankees actually happens um all reporting indicates that the Cubs are going to be pretty active still they want some more pictures uh they could be looking to clear some cap space before another move is made I guess only time will tell there but Cody bellri the Yankees could very well happen we’ll have to keep an eye on it uh this upcoming week so now shifting back to the free agency market the Yankees have some interest in former New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonzo so MLB scoops on tweeted out as the offseason goes on we’re told pet Alonzo’s Market has yet to heat up the New York Yankees have interest but it’s also believed that they wouldn’t take another qualifying offer penalty to sign pet Alonzo it may be a long winter of hibernation for the polar bears so pet Alonzo is a very fascinating free agent because last year in 2023 for Pete Alonzo for his standards was a bit of a step down as compared to years prior especially when it comes to hitting the ball to the ballpark so pet Alonzo in 2024 had a 2.64 SE seon 146 hits 34 home runs a 240 batting average 91 runs scored 88 RBI three stolen bases and on base of 329 a 459 Slug and Ops of 788 and Ops plus of 123 so still relatively good numbers all things considered but for Pete Alonzo standards who by the way in his rookie year hit 53 home runs in 2023 hit 46 home runs and in 2022 hit 40 home runs having a bit of a dip last year of just 34 maybe a step in the wrong direction for him but if he were to go to the Bronx bombers and play for the Yankees he would definitely fill a hole at first base defensively speaking um as Anthony Rizzo is not going to be coming back to the team so that’s a big time upgrade on Ben rice if you ask me and his bad can honestly play pretty well in these American Lees ballparks so I think Cody Bellinger uh would be a good option for them as well but if they want to go for another player in free agency as alluded to in MLB scoop’s tweet uh there is some concern about the qualifying offer attached so maybe the Ines are not really too keen on paying that offer so in that case pet Alonzo might not have a Yankees uniform on come opening day but could this be an option for them it absolutely could especially too with what the Mets have done so far this offseason with with signing clay Holmes uh with of course signing Juan stto it might be kind of nice for the Yankees in their front office to get some uh you know former Mets players back on the team and kind of go through some swaps that way so Pete Alonzo just 30 years old is a big Power righty bat uh perhaps if you can give this guy like a 5 to a 7year deal right around that 25 $30 million per year mark that’s probably where his market value is at if you ask me but as I mentioned before uh the qualifying offer could definitely scare some teams off there that’s attached to him so perhaps pet Lon is one of those players kind of similar to Blake Snell last year that signs closer to spring training so maybe nothing’s going to be evident here I guess only time will tell on how the market unfolds but uh the Yankees at the very least looking for some upgrades at first base and Pete Alonzo of the Mets could very well be that guy so we’ll keep an eye on this moving forward so sticking with the theme of free agency Alex Breakman is another player the Yankees have their sight set on this off season and maybe talks between the two sides have sort of I guess followed since the Kyle Tucker trade so a Fireside Yankees on X tweeted Out quote the New York Yankees are now expected to put on a full court press to sign B bregman and move jazz Chisum to second base Bob Nightingale in his latest column so Alex bregman is another fascinating player this offseason as we saw what the Cubs did a couple days ago now by trading for Kyle Tucker a former Astro perhaps it could be a bit of a retool or rebuild in Houston for the foreseeable future so Alex fragman at this point could still very well come back especially with KY Tucker’s money off the books uh this could definitely make some sense here but if the Astros want to Pivot into another Direction they let someone like um you know Alex bregman toart the team this off season at third base for the Yankees this guy could be an absolute stud for them all things considered so Alex bregman this past year kind of similar to Pete Alonzo a bit of a step down compared to years prior he had a 4.1 wor season1 hits 26 home runs a 260 batting average uh 79 runs scored 75 RPI three stolen bases and on base of just 315 not great there a 453 Slug and LPS of 768 and LPS plus of 118 so for Alex bregman who is going to be 31 years old in 2025 perhaps giving this guy a long-term contract may not end well based on his last season um in Houston but where he brings a lot of value is defensively speaking right he could be a good Third Base upgrade for this group as well as maybe a shortstop option if they wanted to move someone like Anthony vulpe around the diamond that could be a possibility as well uh but bregman brings a lot of Versatility to the team defensively speaking as well as Championship experience uh when it comes to the locker room Dynamics so Alex bregman of course a pretty good teammate from from everything I’ve read so far so this could be a nice ad for them at this moment in time they have Oswaldo Cabrera as the team scheduled third baseman and they have Jazz at second base for the crew so if they wanted to maybe bump osala Cabrero to the bench maybe bregy comes in and be that and is that team’s full-time first or third baseman for the foreseeable future now the only thing I would probably kind of caution the Yankees would be you’re signing a player that has shown signs of regression on the wrong side of 30 given what some of these players have gotten on the open market do you want to sign bregman to like a seven or eight year deal north of you know 25 $30 million per year and have that age you know very poorly in a couple years probably not but if you want to compete for a championship in 2025 bregman helps you get there and this team has some holes in their infield specifically so if you’re able to add bregman’s bat bregman’s Championship experience as well as make a or a conference rival in Houston a little bit weaker and make your team better the Yankees kind of have to do that at this point especially after losing on a woto so I think Alex bregman will still explore the options in free agency like a Washington or a Philadelphia or perhaps someone like Detroit maybe teams that can offer him a little bit more money but if he wants to win a championship and be part of a good culture maybe he wears the Pinstripes and finishes off his career in New York I guess only time will tell but at the very least Alex bregman could be an option for the Yankees and that’s what’s being reported by Bob Nightingale so that is going to be it for this video thanks again again for watching make sure to leave all your thoughts Down Below in the comment section as always have an amazing rest of your day and I will see you in the next one
