he [Music] [Music] well hello there and welcome back and it is a Thursday edition of the BET us TV college basketball show I am at your service the somewhat competent host TJ Reeves we have the handicappers back hello again Corby Craig good to be back as well with Maddie Cox for a Thursday Edition hey is the SEC done running over the ACC and the SEC ACCC challenge I know Duke got the win at the very end of the whole challenge thing but it was 14 to one in victories for the SEC until that Duke win over Auburn last night so welcome in everybody good to be with you how we feeling we’ve got a lot to go over here at the beginning and then we’ve got some games to handicap Cory Craig you’ve been off for a couple of days here how are things how you feeling yeah I’ve been I’ve been sitting back relaxing resting up we’re ready for another win streak here TJ so the longest I was talking pre-show but this is the longest break I had before until what All-Star break baseball season so people who came from the BET us baseball show I I I went baseball straight basketball so it was a nice little get some holiday shopping done what what did you do during the little rest bit here uh TJ I watch ball I don’t know about you but I I was glued in it doesn’t stop um no feeling good um saw some crazy games last night I had a over 140 somebody’s talking about in the chat so I’ll bring it up I had an over 140 in the American George Washington game they scored 32 points in overtime to win nasty I will take that every day of the week some we need that luck yeah go look at two point overtime not double over Miss entirely overtime it was it was honestly the it’s one of those games that only happens if you’re on the other side you know this is American and who George Washington the battle for the motherland um and that’s like one of those games if you’re on the under that happens to you but it never happens when you’re the opposite side so we’ll take that um a lot of good basketball yesterday uh I honestly I was impressed by Texas Tech I know we’re going to talk about it but um Texas Tech to go out and win like they did with the missing the pieces they were missing uh interesting game there big win for Duke big win for kraton over Kansas number one and number two both losing last night Matt Cox good to be with you my friend how are things congratulations on getting a couple of more home including Montana outright we’re going to talk about the other game in a moment how you feeling on a Thursday good I’m feeling good TJ I would just want to be full full transparency with the monana pick lucky to find out that South Coast State’s best player was not playing last night and still uh it was a nip and Tuck of fair L got little dicey I know Mig uh Jeff had the the better handicap than I did I know he’s a bigger fan of that Jack buy team and I was um but hey we’ll take it we we’ll count the money and we’ll move forth so no uh no further all right we’re going to get to your questions in a little bit we’re going to get to the live plays in a little bit we got to talk about this with my I’m not going to put the Hat on with my man Matt Cox who had Louisiana Tech plus 11 a half Corby get a load of this because I don’t even know you weren’t fully aware of this until I was texting you and the best part of the story is I was texting Matt Cox and you thought I was a solicitor you thought I was somebody trying to get you know holiday donation or a relative freed from Nigeria or something you on your phone it was actually me saying to you are you kidding me with the end of the Memphis Louisiana Tech game so you sat on this program yesterday and said latch plus 11 A2 you were golden my friend until Memphis hit a three-pointer with about 40 seconds left that they didn’t need to hit so that now sets into motion uh it’s it’s now a 10-point game and latch misses Memphis has the ball and latch fouls them with like 40 seconds left Stop fouling down by 10 instead of knuckling under and Memphis hits two free throws now my man Matt Cox is not good because it’s Memphis now covering the uh the 12 or covering the 11 and a half for you lo and behold Latt gets fouled what are my Memphis Tigers doing fouling Louisiana godess Memphis you so you’re golden again because now it’s a 10-point game they make both free throws and Memphis is going to run the clock out but then suddenly they throw the ball down low did you see this you you’re not aware of how this end I saw the no I saw the ordan the Memphis big man goes to the hoop up 10 with 5 seconds left they knock it from him and then they foul PJ Hagerty with like three seconds left in the game in a 10-point game he makes both my man is dead again Corby he’s dead the EAD dead until they throw it in and the big guy for latch who is it bacho leaks out yeah B just leaks out to the rim Tak two dribbles and donks at the horn which meant nothing for the outcome of the game but it meant everything on BET us TV because tied with six play and then they were down 12 with five seconds so yeah that’s I mean God good roller coaster win kids the moral of the story is it ain’t over till it’s over better lucky and good maybe there’s another moral there’s a few morals to that story and the other thing is sometimes you get the benefit of a meaningless dunk at the horn which I I I waited for half second are they gonna go review that that dunk didn’t beat the horn and the ref said no the dun’s good let’s leave so you’re all good we’re all good fun fact TJ bra I have a I have a fun fact for you on that first off breakdown of the Memphis game I think everyone in the chat expected nothing less of you um but it’s more the breakdown of how my man came home with latch plus 11 and a half so you you Savages in the chat you want good advice the man ultimately gave you good advice continue Corby Craig so I have a a annoyance and and you know when you when you gamble on Sports you remember you remember some crazy dates I remember February 9th 2019 I believe I could be wrong with there I was State that’s definitely wrong because it was a non-con game um no it was in conference play Sorry in conference play TJ if the shot at the end of the horn doesn’t impact the outcome of the game they won’t review it the reason I know this Iowa State Oklahoma I have Iowa State minus three probably um they go down the court Oklahoma goes down the court the buzzer has sounded by like a good dribble and a half this guy hits a three-pointer the ref counts it I’m talking like you’ve never it’s not even close he did not hit it ref counts it he’s like yo it doesn’t matter they lost by three we’ll keep it of course I lost my bet so same situation I don’t think they could have I mean they could have but I don’t think they care to overturn that situation um every time until the time that it matters to you I had a game down 30 I needed two points for the over a guy hits a layup in the rough sight no no no no it did not count and they didn’t even review it I was like hey it it only counts until it doesn’t count so I got that win all that matters it’s a dub it’s a dub from my man Matt Cox last night show three and one yesterday uh just a quick thought from both of you how about Alabama lasting North Carolina Matt we talked a lot about that yesterday uh in the Q&A and the tide uh the tide impressive from beginning to end what any thoughts on that no I mean it’s just a microcosm of the ACC struggles TJ as well as another Maui team maybe a little bit hung over coming back from the island time remember Memphis and UNCC both did that kind of tuneup game on the west coast UNC went to Hawaii and played a game before Maui San or Memphis went to San Francisco you know West Coast time to set themselves up for Success there they both played you know fairly well Memphis especially I think they’ve actually played more games on West coas or Island time this year than they have in their normal time zone I think there may a little bit of a sluggish hangover effect but unc’s got bigger issues I think um I Alabama’s awesome but some clear defensive deficiencies for the tar Hills who have no physicality up front zero size uh it’s it’s it’s really bit them this year I think it will the rest of season too thought on that and thought on Duke pulling it out with auburn great back and forth and Duke this time took care of the ball made a couple of key shots hit their free throws any thoughts there the on the end of the SEC ACC challenge yeah everybody knows I’m not really a major Market better uh but I did have Alabama here versus North Carolina I just think this North Carolina team is not good TJ to be honest like Alabama played great like shout out to them they’re a good basketball team I just don’t think this North Carolina team is very good uh and then I had Duke in the Auburn which was surprising um I would have never expected I was betting a side in Duke Auburn um but I just think inevitably like these Auburn kids are good don’t get me wrong broom have talked about a few times like he should be front R player of the year right now but they’re shooting out of their mind yeah at some point they got to calm down a little bit I’m trying to pull up their twoo percentage is 63 and a half% right now TJ fourth in the nation uh and they’ve played really good team so I I’m not confident that that is um able to continue like I really like I really like Miles Kelly I thought that was a really good pickup but I mean even him like I think he’s let’s see yeah 46% from three right now I think he’s a really good basketball player he’s not a 46% three-point going to regress well and again I feel for brother Nao he went one and one yesterday he had Auburn in what the two matter or two and a half and remember we had the loose ball late in the game where it looks like Auburn’s going to the other end down too but Duke kind of bats it they get it to Proctor and Proctor bombs a three cuz the shot clock didn’t reset now they’re up five and they eventually made the free throws got the cover uh Etc two more real quick and I know we’re getting to the handicapping here in just a second I see the live audience growing we got three games to handicap we got Q&A great win for kraton anything on kraton beating Kansas they shot it really well at home and Oregon trailed for a lot of the game with USC late night last night in Los Angeles they came roaring back they won any thoughts from either of you on that or shall we get going a classic Katon game right like everything about what we saw for from them in the mte was like this team’s got no you know dynamism they’re really unathletic on the perimeter caulk’s injured now so you got to worry about that he does play last night and of course they shoot the ball well from three they jump shooting Jays pretty vintage home Craton spot where they make every three and the Mojo and the juice and that building just surges we saw that last season against Yukon their ceiling is still going to be all the way High when they’re making shots um I think long term now’s still very real question marks but an enormous win to kind of get them on the right side of the N tournament picture which they badly needed love it Corby anything else on that you ready to handicap good yeah the issue issue with Katon is the the meme of like at home they’re the best and on the road like I don’t know what you’re going to get I it continues to prove like they look good at home also TJ this kind of goes to your point of like these injuries at some point and I’m glad we don’t because it helps me from a getting an edge kind of standpoint but there were so many injuries last night that are like game time decision going to be out like things that or or or not even noted out until game time like I texted Matt Texas Tech was missing two of their best players and like this was not News until what 15 minutes before game time like at some point we have to regulate the ability to give out injuries but for now I’m going to enjoy it because you can get an edge there but it gets crazy like C berer was a game time decision pretty questionable and then was instantly in pregame warm-up so I think there needs to be something but for now we will bet into those injuries yeah again they should i’ I’ve been on the soap box if they know they’re out they should say uniform across across the sport you should say he out or she either one you know they’re out say they’re out all right we’re in we’re in for handicapping for a Thursday all that we just discussed and we spend some time on it is past what we’re doing is today the present and the future for tonight shall we get into it the most prominent game of this uh Thursday is going to be in the Big 10 let’s go uh here we go with game number one this is Purdue and pin State at Penn State where the knites are a short point and a half favorite total 149 and a half in this game Big 10 opener correct for both I’m double- cheing correct for the both Perdue and Penn State Big 10 opener in December thoughts on this game to begin Matt Cox go ahead yeah I mean this is a classic you know Big 10 home team it’s been a popular angle that betters have backed for the past few seasons and it’s worked right one of those oldies but goodies as we say and Penn State has kind of flown under the radar this year as a team that’s been very very good they just bludgeoned mostly bad teams now I think they’re um they’re not like a fraud by any stretch of the imagination but certainly you’re not getting any discount to bet them here especially at home I I know Purdue’s been pretty impressive I think in this game it does come down to again another old cliche a pace battle Penn State’s really dialed up their Pace this year like they want to get out and run with Ace Balwin leading the attack a very athletic uh front line with that the nites have sort of retooled this off season it’s really looked good from what I’ve seen but big test against the bo up front right I think the other question is can Purdue ball handlers handle the pressure it’s sort of always the question with Purdue right I think Foster lawyer and bra Smith have mostly answered that I think they they kind of uh they’ve surpassed that hurdle of one of their main weaknesses that teams used to pre on to me Corby I went back and forth I think it was a you know side coin flip for me um I hate bed and Road teams in the Big 10 so I’m definitely not going to take Purdue but I think Penn State you’re paying a premium based on how much they’ve played against Bad competition on the total I kind of like the under curious what Corby thinks on that I think this game might be a little bit slower than what’s priced in the market it is the Big 10 opener Corby Craig and when last we saw Purdue they beat Old Miss on the neutral floor in San Diego but thoughts here on this game including the total here yeah it’s an interesting one uh Matt brings up a great point and like Penn State is a good basketball team don’t get me wrong they they play highly efficient to their their their following analytics I think 23rd in the nation rim and three R they love to get the transition going they love to try to get to the rim try to get to the free throw line the issue is Purdue is one of the better like you’re going to play our Pace teams in the nation so if they decide that they think that they can run with them this game could get out of hand but I I kind of lean towards this idea that like Purdue wants to play 63 to 66 possessions basically you go look at the Old Miss game I had the under in that game he goes over by 10 points which looks like a Bad Bet but then you go look at Tempo there was only 63 possessions run like this isn’t a game that was played fast this is a game that Old Miss hit their shots shout out to them I still think gold Miss is not good I I’m not buying this team at all U they they hit 15 threes in that game so I’m not sure that that pace is indicative of points I think the 15 threes kind of helps uh can Penn State speed up Purdue I don’t think so it would be an under nothing for me I didn’t bet this game I do agree Purdue is a really good basketball team um but it it’s tough to fade Penn State this early because I mean we we really haven’t seen them versus good team so like what can we even expect Virginia Tech’s their best game so I guess Clemson but or Clemson the loss right butson yep uh it it would definitely total did the did the total move at all yet this morning or is it right about what it opened at uh it’s been B up a little bit Yeah Kemp pom has it like 153 uh the market opened a little bit lower I think the Market’s been adjusting for these kind of Big 10 conference openers perhaps like thinking that oh the fact that Penn State scored 100 three times there’s no way they’re going to do that against Purdue obviously so um I agree with Corby though I to me I like back in the home teams in Big 10 matches but Penn State hasn’t done enough to prove that they warrant my investment tonight I guess so I’m going to stay away all right again this game is going to be really the first significant one up tonight at 6:30 eastern time with Purdue in the top 10 Fox Sports One has it from State College and the Bryce Jordan Center for Penn State and Purdue we gave you some good discussion on the big 10 opener for both of those two teams coming up tonight all right thank you for finding us you see two more games on the schedule we’re going to get to the live Q&A you want to be here live you never know if a live button pick is coming out Jeff had a couple of them uh yesterday on the show so make sure you’re here with us live for the fun the frivolity the goting into the live button plays all right up next again we often say this if you’re new to the program we’re all over the board let’s go to Southeast Louisiana and Nicholls I’m curious as to what the angle is here with Nicholls favored by three they’ve had a couple of interesting outcomes early on in the year Nicholls total 138 a half Corby Craig you have this one down for a reason I think I might know what the reason is but go ahead yeah I’m GNA take an over here 138 and a half I I made it’s 143 um so two two not so great teams you might have imagined it under but what what you will see here is Nicholas is a very efficient team 29th nation of rimond three rate efficient probably the stronger word are they going to make the shots that’s the real question here but they’re going to get good looks like at the end of the day they’re 29th in open three rate like they get good looks on the other side of the Court Southeast Louisiana has had to face a schedule of like I wouldn’t say good teams but teams who are going to kind of force you to play a different style than you want to play I’m not sure the market can really keep up with the Southeast Louisiana team so we see a UAB game where they played all the pace they could ask for they ran the pace in that game Mississippi State they were down the whole time so uh didn’t really expect anything there then you go to like even a game like two lane two lane is a team who traditionally wants to play fast but this year there’s not a ton of film on like exactly what they’re doing I’ve bet two lane unders a few times like this team just seems kind of out of sort so I would say Southeast Louisiana is in a spot where I think their talent is probably better than what you’ve seen they’ they’ve been in pretty tough matchup situations and I’m buying a little bit into this Nicholls idea that they’re going to take efficient shots um one team is wind down is find to run Pace the other team is taking good shots I think that is indicative of an over at one I think I said 143 so um I’m going to take an over 138 and a half here Javon Buckley is the player that led the charge as they upset tane at tane I believe we briefly talked about that game Corby on Monday’s show and CA got the win on the road Monday night all right thoughts here Matt Cox Nicholls at home in this battle of Louisiana uh anything from you yeah tough to handicap this one for me I the uh seaw has been pretty good Kefir is a good coach he struggled last season they had some injuries and this year they’ve really uh been sneaky competitive a lot of these Southland teams in general have been uh far more competitive than people um I think have noticed it’s one of the few low Majors that seems to be benefiting or or capitalizing on The New Normal in the nil and the portal um obviously yeah the conference opener Dynamic is weird it’s not we’re not used to seeing that these low Majors um I guess more and more of these low majors are starting to do these front loaded shotgun start to the conference play they play this one tonight and they don’t play a conference game until after uh Christmas so yeah kind of an odd Wrinkle in the schedule excuse me so I’m not sure how that infacts or impacts the total here um you know you could argue some could be a little tighter could play a little slower U but I do think there are some good indicators for scoring both ways as well so yeah pretty torn for me on this one both side in total again it’s a Nicholls team that lost to New Mexico in the first game of the year they’ve also lost at Cincinnati but they have a win over Northern Kentucky on the road Northern Kentucky not very good as it turns out this year they also beat Louisiana at Louisiana in their last game they are at home tonight and cor cig is you got some more go ahead one one big game that I would I would say like Circle kind of what I think is gonna happen with this Nichols team so first off I say efficient they’re taking good shots they are 360th in the nation in twoo percentage they’re not efficient I I understand that if you’re taking good shots that number is going to regress but you go look at like a talson game this is kind of what I was getting out here and I think it would be a good digest to like what I was thinking on a total you look at the talson game 70 to 64 on 64 possessions versus the talson team who has looked really bad uh this team is 350th in the nation in Tempo and yet Nicholls still gives up 70 to a team who I just don’t think has a ton of talent they still play this game to 64 possessions so the ability to speed up bad teams the ability to give up 70 versus a t team who just isn’t as talented as years pasted I think when you get into these games versus a really good team in conference like you’re going to see a much scrappier battle than they’ve had to face this year they’re in the stoer gymnasium tonight if you want to see it on ESPN Plus on the campus at Nicholls Corby Craig is interested in points and a lot of them he wants the over in the game with Southeast Louisiana over 138 a half that is the first official play that we’re going to handicap uh here to start off the program today let’s go all the way out west as I said uh we cover it all on this program in including a battle out in the big West between UC Riverside and Cal State Northridge Northridge is the 4 and a half Point favorite at home a total 150 and a half Matt Cox you have been in and around the California teams the Western teams and handicapping throughout the first month of the show what Drew you to this game on a Thursday yeah UC Riverside one of my darling teams this season really tough loss last Sunday at Idaho it was kind of a tough spot game coming out of Thanksgiving break where you have to go to Idaho and play a well- coached well prepped well drilled bandal team coach by Alex prle um and frankly they just they didn’t show up for that game right and I think you we saw UC Riverside L EG against Santa Clara earlier this season and then four days later they went out and beat Colorado State at Colorado State so I think that kind of bounce back pendulum swing to the to the good side um is going to work in the magpies as I call them the fighting magpies favor tonight first conference game on the road you’re going to get an all the way locked in dialed in performance there’s no effort or um lack of interest in this game there’s no resting guys this is both teams all in and frankly as impressive as SE sun’s been this season they have a ton of talent under Andy Newman I think Riverside is as talented if not a little bit more talented with the more trustworthy backcourt the better Coach team um you could argue Northridge could win this game by 20 they could probably lose by 30 as well this is probably a good live betting game in all honesty uh but I think when it’s when the dust settles what should be a pretty frenetic up and down crazy swing game uh hint hint I like the over as well in this game I think Riverside ends up on the right side uh so I’ll take the four and a half free points in the game and I think these T te these two teams should be close to a pick them um at seon that’s how highly I think of UCR this season again as he mentioned for uh Northridge Cal State Northridge they played the two Montana teams losing to Montana then beating Montana State in a 7269 game all right Corby any thoughts he mentioned uh that he gled the way of the over he is going to take the side with Riverside any thoughts on that total for UC Riverside and Northridge tonight yeah total is really tough here uh Northridge if we remember last year let me pull this up um Andy Newman last year yeah 13th of the nation in Tempo that was going from nearly 300th uh under Trent Johnson at North Rich this is a team who like a complete shift in offense complete shift in ideology I guess you would say um and and we saw the total every single game last year’s team basically two we’re seeing the same thing with Fresno this year so uh at some point you have to think like maybe a year of over reactions towards a total might have pushed this number too high or at some point it’s going to find equilibrium I really don’t know I may this number 151 and a half so um basically right on the money can Riverside run with Northridge I think yes Matt brings up a good point like the back court is solid solid I I think that even on P so this the interesting thing about college basketball where somebody like Matt’s going to have a lot of of upper hand versus like someone who just does numbers is like at the end of the day it’s matchups so like one team is going to run does the other team have the guards they can actually do that like on paper Riverside’s not going to want to run here they’re 200 in the nation in Tempo they haven’t ran versus anybody they allowed Santa Clara to play a slow place like they’ve played slow versus anybody who wants to play Slow um and been fine with it so like you wouldn’t imagine that they try to run 75 possessions here but then you go look at like the the matchups these kids have likely seen each other throughout high this isn’t they’re not pulling Across the Nation players I would assume and they run like they have the guards to run so I imagine this plays a lot higher pace and even my numbers can say I see kenpom says 71 possessions it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s 74 and if this is 74 this number is 160 again Riverside has the win at Colorado state from earlier in the year they also lost at Santa clar Lost at BYU yeah they Play Oran close BYU close man I think these the river side The Magpie is a Road Warriors TJ yeah they only lost by six at BYU uh barington mag their coach is Mike magp I call him the the fighting mag mag yeah sorry I like using obscure references that no one else knows except myself that’s that’s good good TV that’s good rarm what we love uh for this Riverside team I love the name barington hargress I have to confess I haven’t seen him play but I may check him out just on the name alone because that sounds like something out of a British novel barington hargress uh 19 a game and four assist a game he’s got to have a big night Matt Cox thinks he will have a big night let’s lock him in here on this play tonight for UC Riverside at Cal State North Ridge he says give me Riverside and the four and a half on the road conference game in the big West I’m looking ESPN plus right has it they do the premier American Credit Union Arena we are sponsor friendly with the Arenas here on BET us TV that one at 7 Pacific time tonight lot of the big West games going on simultaneously at 7 Pacific time which we’ll yet that we will obviously get to but we love the members the members that sign up get prioritized I say that all the time so you see them first on the question list Paul Taylor the Sailor says can we cover Cleveland State and Milwaukee Milwaukee laying seven and a half with an over under of 141 a half of course Paul we can cover that guys anything on that matchup in the The Horizon League Cleveland State Milwaukee anything from either of you it felt High to me the side minus8 the Panthers at home not a ton of home court in this league you know City to City all pretty Midwest Regional U familiarity across cities I think Cleveland State probably is catching an extra point here um than they should so I guess point being I like Cleveland State on a price from a price perspective uh but gut does like this Panther team I think they give a really strong effort after a couple of grueling East Coast road trip games leading into the conference over I think you get more of a slingshot effort from the Panthers here uh Corby do you like the over I think the market likes the over I keep staring at this 141 it feels like this game is more up and down than 141 yeah I’m at I’m at 144 here so it makes a lot of sense this is a Milwaukee team who’s been F and 144 might not seem like a a massive adjustment but you have to remember I’m also regressing a little bit due to the fact that like these are pretty crappy teams and I don’t expect my number to be as efficient as possible so it is regressing to Market some there I would assume I’m probably closer to like 45 46 but this is a coach in Lundy who who wants to play fast like we saw ninth in the nation two years ago in Tempo 52nd and now 147th I don’t think that continues uh and if you go look at year-over-year in conference they have been really fast I I think Matt brings up a really good point like homecourt Advantage doesn’t matter as much in in these matchups and with that I don’t think that pricing for for like Tempo should either like these teams if Milwaukee knows that they have to run versus Cleveland State because the guards are good they know the guards they’ve seen the guards you’re going to see a lot higher Tempo than than uh probably projected so go look at the Cleveland State Games in years past see how they match up how they attack this and um it would be an over or nothing for me and again for Cleveland State as you referenced they went and played Michigan and got destroyed 101 to 53 they played at Kansas State lost by 13 played at Minnesota lost by 11 they’re at home and they’re at home uh or I’m sorry they’re on the road here off of those games they also lost a had stayed at home in their most recent game by two so that game is coming up tonight I was looking for my start time on Cleveland State and Milwaukee and that is Seven Central Seven Central go ahead Central Time Zone best time zone by the way but uh shout out Paul Taylor he’s been a member since I think the start of sorry I thought that was an afternoon game that’s Oakland by a point and a half we should say Oakland by a point and a half uh very weird spot for me here I mean Oakland looked terrible to start the season I they played some really good teams but I mean even Greg Cy was saying you know pretty explicitly like Hey we’re we’re bad on offense and we’re also bad on defense which you know there’s not like a a third phase of basketball TJ so U that sort of made me cool on this team then they go out and beat Toledo by a million um so that’s what Oakland is this season I think you’re going to get some heads scratching good performances and some heads scratching bad performances um I don’t want to play wacka with the team this early in the year I stayed away I kind of like right State um and sort of maybe a hangover from Oakland coming off the Toledo game um but nothing strong here again Horizon the naac the Mac are two leagues that I just don’t they’re just very very unpredictable a lot of parody uh you think you have to have a really strong read on a game to bet it in my opinion so Oakland The Darlings last year that won the conference tournament then beat Kentucky they don’t have those players any longer all right any thought Corby including the total seeing what 137 137 and a half anything on right State Oakland yeah it’s so weird to see a uh total in a right State game 137 just the the the history of them being fast it seems like for the like probably the last five years they’ve been fast obviously new coach new situation um now I believe it’s Southern Illinois gets to be the fast team um Southern Illinois yeah is Scott nagie new job so we see R States inevitable regression back to a normal pace and it’s just it’s sad times you know if you’re here on the show last year you know I got the right State jersey I used to bet first half team totals and and this team will have soft spot in my heart but uh no I I was I was slightly under here which is crazy to think about um lean towards right State though I do agree with Matt they just be an Air Force Team who on paper isn’t going to look good but I’ve talked about this team a ton way too much for them to be as bad as they are I think Air Force game over game is going to get significantly better than people can project because bocker is not playing like this team has to step up um so to win that game by 13 I think looks probably better at current moment than than it’s being priced in so this would be right St or nothing under nothing I didn’t bet either because we’ve got we’ve kind of Gone In The Weeds for several games let’s bring one back to a game of prominence and this is Xavier TCU this is the last leftover Big 12 Big East uh battle those games have been going on for the last couple of nights Xavier in Fort Worth tonight Seven Central Time 8 eastern time line is like a point or a point and a half any thoughts from either on you either of you on the Froggies and the Musketeers I think the spot screams TCU right we just watched the uh the home teams dominate in the conference challenge uh last night so the problem is the home team here is a team I don’t like I don’t think TC is very good Xavier has been underwhelming um but I think there’s more within the tank there and you could argue that that’s a team I believe has a better chance to improve quickly compared to TCU who especially with the injury to UD up front they kind of lack that interior centerpiece um and their guards aren’t really talented or skilled enough to make up the difference so I think this is sort of an identity crisis team in TCU again the home spot certainly feels like that’s the right side does feel like a pretty cheap price to back a Jamie Dixon team as basically a coin flip at home um but again stay away from me sorry boring lots of fence R for me to hear TJ Xavier uh was rolling along Michigan beat them on the neutral floor late last week Thanksgiving week they came back and and demolished South Carolina state in their last game now Xavier on the road Corby anything on this or Xavier TCU yeah I was close to an over here um I agree with mat they don’t have a ton of Defense they don’t have a ton of interior presence I’m not sure how you can really get a stop versus Xavier here also like this is probably just actually I know for a fact it is because I’m looking at his stats right here and he’s not good um Frankie Collins is one of my favorite points guards in the nation which is just the hottest take he’s he’s not good I’m looking at Stats I didn’t know that he shoots this bad um 65% free throw shooter at point guard is just 57% last year just not going to get the job done uh I liked him in Arizona State so glad to see that he got a better gig playing at a school that uh has some kind of chance uh but agree with Matt like I’m not sure that the guards are enough at the end of the day I think this turns into either a transition game that it goes way over or one of those games where like they just kind of have to sit in the half court they don’t really know what they’re going to do they do a high pick and roll and it doesn’t really work out well and you just shoot a mid-range jumper and that is just never good for either side so it would be Xavier for me the over for me but I I laid low interesting the chat’s going back and forth a lot of people taking TCU in the chat for whatever it’s worth and then some saying Shawn Miller better uh roster we’ll find out tonight again this is the final of the Big 12 Big East battles that saw kraton beat Kansas last night we haven’t touched on Iowa State by the way in impressive Over Marquette Matt Cox we talked about that game yesterday I questioned why that line was around double figures I found out why that line was around double figures Iowa State put it on them any any thought on Iowa State from last night from either of you yeah you I kind of thought Iowa state would be a little bit sleepy right they were sort of one of those Maui teams I was looking to maybe pick on with a really good dog in Shaka smart um the problem is those two teams were like looking in the mirror like Mar Marquette couldn’t really impose the usual Advantage they have um with their ball pressure and their depth and defensive swarming because that’s sort what Iowa state does too so it was like between two likeminded um you know foes looking in the mirror the team that was a little bit more talented and the team that was at home had the edge uh and Marquette was probably due for a bad game I mean all they’ve done is played good games the whole season right you know they beat Maryland beat Purdue they beat Georgia handily um even the George Mason win was pretty good so um I think they were just to for a win and they have Wisconsin in two days which is a huge rivalry for those schools all right uh good anything there anything at all there Corby on that matchup on Iowa State State and Marquette or shall we move on to a couple more questions and get out of here uh we’ll make it quick I think uh cam Jones looked as good as we thought he would look five for 16 from two one for five from three some bad shooting but he still had 14 I believe nine assists eight rebounds so this is a guy who needs to be in your conversation for play of the year uh I see a whole bunch of broom up top flag up top Mark Sears up top still um I I would be buying cam Jones at a good price Sears was really good against North Carolina last night off games or whatever it’s worth all right more questions here and a lot of people are still delving into the big West Etc uh and that includes M CA a member says Cal ply against Cal Davis he says ien Davis uh and the two and a half any thought on that for the viewer yeah I uh I took Davis as well small just this weird gut intuition that I think this is UD UC Davis’s game right kp’s been a a betting uh baby of the market All Season everyone loves them they go into Stanford they hang 98 they almost be Arizona State at Arizona State like the offense is just an absolute Delight to watch everyone knows now I think that Mike de George is one of the great uh one of the really good I guess new first year coaches completely you know revolutionized this program um I think in this conference opener against a very well- coached old uh competent UC Davis team that’s due for a good game I think just they just don’t play as well as they have and UC Davis plays well I mean it’s that simple just just it’s not always about how good a team is versus the other team it’s how good do you think they’ll play on this given night I just think the conference opener uh feels like a good reset for UC Davis where kpali has been going on this world tour playing good teams left and right I think they might come out a little bit lack aasal tonight just a just an inkling I have Corby anything on Davis and Cal py you see Davis anything or Le lean under lean Davis and that both of those sound insane if you’ve watched calp but again I talk about like when teams lose their best players they’re going to get better exponentially like Market’s going to say no but these these players have to step up one thing that I don’t know people are just pricing it enough is like Cal Paulie was a D2 like every player D2 coach D2 like this wasn’t a team that anybody had film on so as you get film as you get reps like Drake right a lot like Drake and Ben mcau very same thing right it’s just like you don’t know what’s coming at you right it’s gonna be a lot easier for teams in like December to prep for these teams so I guess we saw the prec or we saw the opening weeks these number I cowp in in first game steamed 11 points to the total TJ um I think that’s why this number is 159 now and it probably like given the the film that you have this should probably be like 154 and a half which is still just not a fun bet but I do think fading calply fading teams like Drake after you have film moment them are going to be a good long-term play here all right quickly couple more Greg watching let’s stay with the theme out west you see San Diego you see Santa Barbara they’re both pretty good San Diego 6-2 Santa Barbara 6-1 conference game at Santa Barbara Greg says will the mighty gaos be covering the two and a half at the Thunderdome quickly anything I kind of lean their way same similar angle to UC Davis right I just think it’s a team that was supposed to be one of the upper you know top four in the league preseason uh we haven’t really taken note of them they’ve had some injuries to UC San barar they’ve gotten healthier lately which is huge uh historically they’ve been awesome at the Thunderdome last season not the case uh they just will regress these two teams aren’t getting to the free throw line you know me I love drive to the basket I love get to the free throw line I’m a transition guy uh the rim and three part I wish you could just take out the second half of that and I understand threes are important but I I just wish more people get to the basket get to the free throw line uh especially in this type of of major so it would be over nothing for me I would hate watching this game I cannot imagine um you’re going to see a very efficient game but you might see a lot of free throws here Matt anything or leave it
