[Music] what [Music] [Music] selection Sunday is here for the 12 team college football ever playoff the first ever college football playoff 12 team bracket and we are here to react with all of you Harrison Graham Tyler Jones here at chat sports Tyler we’re going to go through our projected bracket we’ll debate Alabama and SMU that seems to be the big choice for the committee today and uh here we are we finally made it to the first ever 12 team playoff man and it has been an exciting season one of the craziest years in recent memory with this all starting off with conference realignment with all the big shifts that we’ve seen in the sport and now expanding to 12 teams and I know Oregon’s undefeated but they’re still not one dominant team we’re setting up for quite the next several weeks no matter what teams we get in now we just got to find out where they’re playing no doubt about it shout out your favorite team see that countdown clock that is roughly when we will hear here from the college football playoff committee TR lore going with Bama SSG as well uh Bama sweating things out this morning that’s for sure uh let’s see Ohio State from Tai man the Buckeye Army from Christopher great year for Army they’ll play Navy this week uh SSG says Clemson uh SMU from U-Haul ghost Cyclones from Josh McBride the bright wolf saying Georgia uh so a lot of uh fan bases being repres in a lot of uh discussion around a lot of these teams I think quietly Tyler obviously George is in they’re likely going to be the two seed but I think it’s pretty safe to say I think Carson Beck’s done it looks like he may have the the BR py injury so you wonder what that means for their chances to even go contend for a national championship yeah and uh you know based on president said by the couch B playoff committee if your quarterback’s hurt then you’re out of the playoff right no just kidding uh but Georgia I look at uh you know that team the way that they rallied that they improved Stockton gave him a spark yeah and the guys stepped up around them the way that he went down after Bennett went down I I was very impressed with the way that team put it together and got it done against Texas there at overtime 22 to9 and you look at that Georgia team and if we know what they have defensively if that offense can hold it together without Carson backck here they still got a chance to win this whole thing I think finishing that game was critical just cuz having one less game when you’re dealing with the backup quarterback I think it’s massive plus an extra week to prepare um by the way just I don’t know if I’m out of the loop or what I did not realize that Gunner Stockton not Jaden rashada was the backup quarterback so uh that was pretty interesting but I I think this game obviously both teams are in you want to talk about missed opportunities Tyler Texas absolutely dominated the first half and it was six to3 at halftime largely due to penalties um again you know they’re in a good position they’ll likely be somewhere between five and seven but that was that’s a pretty big missed opportunity to win the SEC in year one because it was right there for him I feel like Texas is the biggest question mark entering this college football playoff because they haven’t beaten anybody with better than an eight and4 record this season Y they’re two toughest tests against Georgia they failed twice now Quinn ERS is not played well in big games at this point I very well could be seeing if you’re as we get this bracket revealed in about 40 minutes if you’re trying to pick a big dog to go down early I do not like Texas’s chances to make it to the National Championship I think that’s a team that could falter and I don’t like the way Quinn’s looking right now and I don’t think Arch is going to save them either let us know do you like the expanded playoff L for like d for dislike I think Texas it it’s a tough evaluation Tyler because I think there’s a good argument to be had that from an itest standpoint they’re probably one of the top two or three teams in the country but they leave so much on the table like you’re watching that game last week against A&M you’re like how is this not 31 to nothing like how are they not putting this team away you watched yesterday you’re like how is this six to3 at halftime Quinn ERS threw for over 200 yards in the first half Georgia had but even when they were the number one team in the country it was kind of like they were there by default like they were the flavor of the month at that time no you’re you’re completely right and my point is this is like regardless of how you look at times what are the what have the results been they’ve been pretty mixed so they they just have left a lot to be desired obviously they’re going to be in the tournament but I’ll tell you this and what if they get the 512 game and it’s let’s say it’s SMU I don’t think that’s out of the realm of possibility that SMU could give them a game in Austin SMU could win that game I I think that’s very much on the tableu resume is actually very similar to UT by the way that is true that is true uh all right let’s talk about a producer Jack probably had the most stress-free weekend uh being at the Big 12 Championship uh Arizona State just dropping the hammer on Iowa State you want to get your two cents in on that jack it environment felt like a spa day okay yeah tens of people the first the first uh the first 10 minutes I was stressed you know they hold ASU do a field goal didn’t know if they were going to make the field goal because their kicking situation is horrible and then Iowa state drives with no con contention at all and scores a touchdown I’m like oh boy this is going to be a this going to be a rough day and then cam scaboo does Cam scaboo things and 4519 to be fair working with him for three years it’s not hard to make Jack laud stressed um it’s not about a stress free of a conference Championship game you could possibly have yeah I think Arizona state was so good and Boise State after us a strong start didn’t really put put it on you and lv’s throats the way they should have I think Arizona State’s got to be ahead of Boise I would do that as I don’t think it’s going to happen but that’s what should happen they should be the three seed the fiesta B should be in Glendale I don’t know how many people noticed the fiesta B was actually created back in the day for Arizona State so it’d be quite the homecoming for Arizona State to have that in their own backyard but aw awesome job by Kenny Dillingham I hope scabo gets a Heisman invite he won’t win it but I hope he gets an invite SEC Championship Georgia just finds a way I I mean every time I watch this Georgia team they feel mediocre the wrong work cuz they’ve won 11 games but they feel uninspiring at times but they kind of just hang around in these games and uh they found a way obviously Carson Beck’s injury is one to watch I think he’s probably done for the year but we’ll see if we get a diagnosis there Big 10 Oregon Penn State uh Tyler we knew Oregon could score I did not have 37 points from Pinn State on my uh bingo card last night I tweeted this out I said this game is awesome but I want it on the record if you switch the patch from Big 10 to Big 12 on those jerseys for 20 years all I heard is that same exact game was a terrible game with no defense so uh I don’t feel that way because I thought it was an awesome game but uh Oregon the lone unbeaten what’s uh what’s our our friend Tim brendo Kan uh great question I’ll be honest as much as I have a soft spot for the University of Tulsa and I’ve been to many games over the years covered that team for a long time that is a bad job especially now right like academic standards are extremely high it’s the Harvard of Oklahoma um which says something in itself um it’s extremely expensive to go there smallest D1 school um why why why is it expensive to go is it just cuz it’s small private yeah academic standards are I did not know Tulsa was Private until this exact moment by the way so thank you for educating me yes it’s it is basically the the SMU of Tulsa okay the SMU of Tulsa the Harvard of Tulsa yeah um so who’s it going to be uh they’re not going to get GJ Kenny are they I think they’ll make a phone call yeah I just are you leaving a Texas D1 college at this point for Tulsa probably not I would not think so maybe 10 years ago you would have done that but um but I don’t know honestly uh Ryan Switzer their uh current interim head coach I don’t think it’s getting the job but uh your guest is as good as mine is pretty wide open right now Josh the debate of the day appears to be SMU versus Alabama we could certainly demate debate this among ourselves as well Tyler you guys let us know who gets the final spot SMU or Alabama we’ll get some shout outs here it’s it’s a tough one Tyler and we’ll go to the resumes here here in a moment is it I don’t think it’s that tough I I think what makes it tough at least for the average person is SMU loses the metric battle EV all day it it’s not even close but I think they win the it test battle which sounds crazy considering it’s SMU in Alabama um I would put SMU in I I think the way they fought back in the second half I think by the end of that game Tyler it was pretty clear Clemson was reeling and SMU was the stronger game team as the game went on they just ran out of time um it’s unfortunate they gave up that long kickoff return which gave Clemson an opportunity to complete a pass and kick a 56 yard field goal but I thought the I think SMU looked theart uh down the stretch and two things about SMU last night slow start in the first quarter they played about their C game last night yeah they did not play well that was the worst they’ve looked in a long time and yet it was still almost good enough to win the other thing I would say that I didn’t like from RE Lashley last night go for two go for the win put yourself in the playoff right then well they still might have lost still might have but at least forced them to beat you yeah I thought those were two two things that stood out to me was they had it in their own hands if I’ll say this to SMU I think they should be in but if they aren’t in they have nobody but themselves to blame from last night after they had a chance to punch their own ticket and couldn’t get a I’ll say this this was a rare time cuz usually I’m team gopher two in that spot I didn’t hate it because of what I said a moment ago they were clearly the stronger team by the end of the game so I think they felt like okay we get this game to overtime we’re playing better right now than they are like let’s just hit the reset button and and keep executing but I hear what you’re saying you mount this comeback One play from three yards out go take the game who knows what happens after do they still give up the 40- yard kickoff return in the field goal we’ll never know but um that’s going to be a tough pill to swallow if they get left out today that um they they really for about two two and a half quarters kind of laid egg last night rallied late and then lose on a 56 yard field goal which at the in the NFL that would be like losing on like a 65 yard field goal I mean that’s that’s pretty rare in college from a kicker who has long before last night was 51 yeah so that’s that’s pretty crazy this is what I’m talking about with the metrics they’re not going to win the metric now they do have three more power five wins so now what we have missing on this because we just don’t have a space for all of it in the graphic is that Bama has two losses to six lost teams y that SMU does not have SMU I think their kind of claim to fame compared to Bama is that their losses are much better than B’s losses here’s what’s here’s what bothers me Tyler about Alabama potentially getting into this over SMU Alabama’s strongest resume point is kicking georg’s ass for one quarter yeah seriously for one quarter almost three months ago in late September if they get in it’s the committee will say well they beat the SCC Champions we can’t leave that team out well that Georgia team that night beat Bama the final three quarters pretty handedly they just dug such a hole 28 nothing that it was too much to overcome so that’s why we’re putting that team in over something that happened three months ago like that that’s a tough that’s a tough one for me if that game happened two weeks ago and the Oklahoma game happened three months ago I’d be like okay they’re trending they’re playing well at the right time Alabama’s not playing well right now they they they no not at all not at all and the the thing I look at too is if SMU gets knocked out for losing by a field goal in a conference title game we’re going to punish one team for barely losing their conference title game and reward Bama for having the week off then why are we even playing conference title games at that point are you saying that it would have been better for SMU to tell the ACC you know what nah we’ll stay home send somebody else we’re going to take our playoff SP we don’t need the data point no that’s that’s exactly right so we’ll see what happens I could see it going either way we’ll get into our projected bracket in a moment but uh I uh I would give SMU the nod here and by the way way it I still think the debate should be SMU South Carolina I do too for what it’s worth uh because South Carolina to me just got a boost last night if I’m on that committee because their last win was over the ACC Champs who’s in the playoff um by the way did you see Peter Burns of SEC Network’s tweet last night no I didn’t so known SEC Homer uh said that if Bama is left out then there will be massive changes coming in 2026 oh I did see that so so we the SEC media is going to threaten the college football world if we leave B out here get the pitchforks out fellas there will be hell to pay they’re going to storm Irving um all right uh let’s uh where were we going to go to next here we got about 27 minutes in counting uh until the committee from us or tells us what uh the bracket looks like okay Carson Beck Tyler I I think this would be an even bigger story had Georgia lost yesterday I don’t think they would have gotten Florida stated if you will because gunar Stockton actually play looked competent he played better than Beck did yesterday well and he certainly played better than who’s it uh who’s the Florida state kid from a year ago Brock Glenn oh yes who literally looked like me and you out there trying to play division one college football um they would still be in but I think it’d be more of a discussion I I think now the discussion is okay can Kirby Smart in Georgia they’ve got three weeks now can they figure out how do we navigate this thing without Carson Beck who hasn’t played that well to be fair most of the season but was that Stockton performance a flash in the pan or can they find something that works three against three highlevel teams I think that’s a tough sell I I I I think it’s a pretty big uphill battle for Georgia to win the National Championship now in my opinion yeah I think so now we saw Ohio State do it in the first year of the playoff with a third string quarterback and you tell me I test Cardell Jones Gunner Stockton who would you trust to win multiple big games in to be fair I’ve only seen one half of gunar Stockton yeah that’s fair Cardell did have a little bit more sample size so I think that’s too early to say for sure but I did I did like what I saw from Gunner St yester I do too I do think by the end of that game Texas had kind of like okay we know what they’re trying to do they’re running him around he threw that awful pick to give Texas a chance which I blame Mike Bobo more than anybody they did not need to throw that situation run the ball and take the points and yeah I agree go up you know extend the lead there to me that was more on the offensive coordinator they got a little too confident in that situation but uh you know I think this Georgia team is still up still National Title Contender I think that’s changed uh based on the situation with Carson P but I also wonder too Carson back he had played a lot better going into Saturday MH what did this do potentially to his draft stock now too well that with the injury I don’t know what’s going to happen here because I mean does Georgia want him back next year I quarterback class so bad I still think he’s one of the first Tak I don’t think he’s a first rounder but maybe he goes in the third round or something but yeah I don’t know we’ll we’ll keep tabs on that if it’s the BR party exactly what they did uh UNLV battled in the second half uh gave themselves a couple of chances to to at least make that a game but uh Boise prevailed and uh Genty had another monster game when uh Malik Williams said that he didn’t know where Boise was on the map I knew immediately this isn’t going to be good that’s trouble that’s true this is bad and sure enough boine uh really just that game was never a doubted sounds like Barry odm to Purdue is going to happen too by the way yeah that’s been confirmed uh he’s headed there and he’ll enjoy for a couple years and they’ll be looking for another head coach I think I have that same thought I’m like would you leave for Purdue you’re kind you’re hanging out in Vegas I I don’t know I get power five job power four job but I think he he could have done better than Peru even if he waited one more year potentially yeah agreed all right who do you guys think is the better team type A for Arizona State B for Boise State I would give Arizona State the nod here Tyler and the three seed I don’t think the committee will do it but I I think Arizona state by the end of the SE is it fair to say they’ve been one of the I don’t know five or six most impressive teams the last month and a half or so oh absolutely they have looked fantastic scat Abo’s been phenomenal uh lit’s been so good as well um I I really like what they’ve done and you think about the offensive fireworks they put on display yesterday without Jordan Tyson as com back is he done he’s done he’s done that’s without Jordan Tyson to do what they did I loved what I saw from Arizona State I think it’s maybe the best story of the year in college football for them to go from three wins pick de last in the Big 12 to win the Big 12 and get a first round playoff game and now we have an interesting situation here as you guys type who’s the better team a for Arizona State B for Boise State here the three seed both teams Arizona State and Boise State would like to stay out wellest and go to the Fiesta Bowl the four seed will end up in the Peach Bowl y both these teams have a unique history with that game too by the way the Fiesta bolt was created many many moons ago for Arizona State in Tempe now of course they played in Glendale Boise State we know about the Statue of Liberty and all that the Fiesta Bowl there uh to me that is an intriguing storyline of who gets that Fiesta bu bid today yeah no doubt about it uh you look at the resume comparisons obviously boys doesn’t plan a power five League um so they’re not going to win that battle uh do have wins over a bunch of uh above 500 teams though they beat uh they beat Washington state in the noncon they beat uh Oregon State as well they L they lost to Oregon by three that’s the biggest claim to fame we lost to Oregon I think that is tough now I do think Oregon has earned the right to separate themselves as the clear number one team at this point so I I do think that counts for something is it enough to put him ahead of Arizona State I would say no because while I just made the point of Arizona State the last month and a half has looked like one of the five or six best teams Boise is not now I thought they played pretty well the other night especially in the first half but um I think if they played tomorrow Arizona State Boise State I would probably pick Arizona State to win that game by 10 to 14 points I don’t know if they’d blow him out but I would pick ASU uh if they win that Boise State team that just a couple weeks ago barely beat Wyoming on the road yeah it’s true um yes common opponent Wyoming what boy State beat him by like what four two weeks ago Arizona State beat him by 41 yeah yeah we’ll see if the committee uh makes a switch there they’re both going to get a buy so Sprint through my mock rankings here Tyler the bottom here doesn’t really matter um at the end of the day just stacking up those uh top 25 wi yeah let’s yeah ex res it matters for uh yeah for resume builders I suppose um I think when you get into the 1615 discussion that’s where it’s somewhat intriguing but I don’t think anything’s going to change in the Miami Old Miss South Carolina ordering uh same with Alabama I do have SMU ahead of Alabama Tyler um initially I had SMU ahead of Clemson but I and then I had to message you Harry wait wait yeah I I I think they would just I I think their resume’s become close enough at that point you value the head-to-head in the conference Champion there right on a neutral site yeah Clemson beat him so right Clemson goes ahead to SMU um but I have SMU hadab Bama I don’t know why I I don’t know why I’m and again this is what I think the committee will do I don’t know why I’m putting faith in the committee to do this but I I just I I think the way SMU finished that game will be enough to hold off Alabama yeah I don’t think they’re going to find the mailin ballots in the middle of the night for Alabama to put them over top uh I I think that SMU has done enough to you know made it too big to rig essentially uh that they’re going to be in this thing but yes I I I look at SMU situation and it went about as bad as it could have for Bama to miss the playoff if you were a b fan going into Saturday that was the worst case scenario that played out yeah exactly they either needed SMU to get killed or for SMU to win uh leave it to Tyler to uh to make a political analogy there uh I got Arizona State 10 Boise n i I think Boise is going to stay ahead of them and get the three seed I would not do that um quite frankly Tyler I think there’s actually a pretty strong argument for both Boise and Arizona State to be ahead of Indiana as well um now that doesn’t really matter because Indiana is just an at llarge Team it doesn’t impact the top four seeds but um that’s how I have that sitting Tennessee 7even I got Pinn State dropping to six because I think even though they played Oregon tough Tyler doesn’t the Pinn State Ohio State head-to-head come back into play here with both having two losses Plus plus Ohio State lost by one point at Oregon Pinn State lost by eight points on a neutral field to Oregon I I’m I don’t want to punish Pinn State too much for losing a conference Championship game but I think the resume kind of Stack back up like okay you got to lean back on the head-to-head there I think I mean if you’re going to do that with Bama Old Miss South Carolina don’t you have to do it here I would think that’s the case unless the other argument would be you give Pinn State Advantage for their conference Championship Game compared to Ohio State um but I would think that the head to head has got they beat him in Happy Valley too yeah like I I just I don’t know I I I’ve got Ohio State Ahad of him uh I think that’s what it’ll be Notre Dame four Texas I think just drops a spot I mean are they going to plummet after losing an OT now you could make an argument based on their overall resume they’re actually going to have zero top 25 wins um but the committee has loved them all along are they going to get are they going to now just change their mind CU they lost in overtime again we’re mocking what we think the committee is going to do I want to bring up another Point too here real quick on this folks um so I know some of you see this mock bracket you may be saying to yourselves why would they set up Ohio State and Indiana when we literally just saw that game a few weeks ago and what we’ve heard from the committee say we do not care if we get rematch rematches if we get games involving teams in the same cont conference that’s not our job our job is to rank the best teams in order and not let any rematches or how what conferences they in dictate How We Do It dictate that so if Ohio State ends up as the seven seed and Indiana is the 10 seed and they have to face in the first round so be it that’s how it’s going to be so something to keep in mind there I look at these potential matchups here and I think Penn State Tennessee would be an awesome game it’s a great game yeah taxes and SMU I think would be pretty dang good as well the story Line’s there too I mean just Old Southwest Conference Rivals yeah Notre Dame and Clemson I think would be pretty fun and I think that Ohio state would have their way with Indiana but I’m curious what is Ohio State going to look like and this can be said for really against whoever they play for that matter what is going to be their response to the Michigan loss where are their mentals right now I I think that’s fair to say and look don’t get me wrong they clearly outplayed and K Indiana’s ass but they also got a couple of weird special teams plays in that game go their way like you would think Indiana in a a second crack at it Tyler would be a little more loose you would think um and ready to go so yeah I mean unlike Ohio State Indiana would have nothing to lose yeah ex exactly Ryan day is coaching for his job every week in this postseason yep Signet and Company they’re just glad to be here yeah no doubt about it we need more likes on this stream we got 2400 people watching only 105 likes I mean that is just um that’s National Championship would have been this year right well it would have Oregan Notre Dame gross did that come out today was that confirmed Notre Dame would be number two uh I didn’t see if confirm but just based on the old system that’s what it sounds like it would be how disgusting would that be yeah that would be you know I I saw people debating what would the four team playoff be if there was four I think it would be Oregon Notre Dame Georgia would be three of them I don’t know who would be the fourth team yeah would it be would it be Penn State would they get the fourth spot it’d be a pretty interesting debate for that fourth spot I’m or would it be Texas but they’d have zero ranked wins right I don’t know be pretty interesting pretty interesting keep on liking we’re at 323 right now uh let’s get to at least 500 I don’t think I’m asking too much yeah we got just hit the like button just give a little tickle tickle that like button um continue to debate as well SMU Alabama so you haven’t wavered you think SMU gets the nod here smoo yep I’m all in I saw someone last night too saying um Bama would just create a better match up in the first round we don’t know that I don’t know if that’s I think SMU Texas would be awesome if that’s what it ends up being which by the way I don’t know if I I I think the second biggest question after SMU B is how you seed 5 through eight and those teams being Texas Notre Dame Penn State and Ohio State I think that’s pretty tricky how you how you order those teams so I you could make an argument for all four to be the five seed and I think you can make an argument for all four to beat the eight seed head to-head that comes into play Ohio State Pinn state but Pinn state made the conference title game Texas only lost to one team this year but they lost him twice they don’t have a win better than Texas A&M uh but the ey test has been there for the most part Notre Dame has the worst loss out of the grouping but outside of that loss maybe looked the best I mean I think it’s very uh very tricky to rank those four I think also worth noting today the AP pole uh had Bama ahead of SMU yeah they did but the markets have been pretty bullish that they lean towards SMU getting this spot over B you think there’s a leak there someone on the committee uh send a little text to uh the sports books maker uh the sports uh books I hope that’d be fantastic the Bama hate is unreal King KGO what did outside of the first quar I I really want to ask all B fans this other than you’re a fan and you want them to get in because Bama fans on my timeline Tyler after the Oklahoma game were literally saying fire deor bench milro there’s nothing that could happen that should put us in the playoff and yet two weeks later here we are with them crying for a spot tell me outside of the first quarter against Georgia has Bama at any point this year looked like a playoff team I would strongly push back and say no I guess you could say the LSU game but but LSU’s Badu’s terrible they’re a terrible football team yeah I I don’t see it with Alabama this year I I think if you asked Alabama boosters higher ups hell Nick Sabin behind closed doors where does this Bama team rank among the Bama teams from the start of the saving era to right now I would say other than his first year when he went six and six you could put this team right near the bottom oh it’s the worst team since B sa’s first season at Bama no doubt I agree no question in my mind I agree um yeah I if they get in it’s because they played a good 20 minutes against Georgia three months ago I mean that’s that’s it and you know I give them credit for going out and scheduling a power conference Road game against Wisconsin it’s not their fault when they scheduled that game 10 years ago that Wisconsin was ass this year but they did play well that day SMU played BYU they beat TCU by 24 who ended up winning eight games it’s not like SMU didn’t schedule out a conference right they played two power five teams out of conference and SMU lost a very close game to BYU who who is know in the grouping just on the outside looking in they’re in those that grouping just after Miss I was at that game too that’s that was a that was by the way a disgusting football game that was before the Jennings takeover too yes um SMU and BYU that game could have gone either way if if Jennings had been their quarterback they win that game I agree who you got in the last spot SMU or you going with Bama uh Harry in case people don’t know we’re we’re our Studios we’re here in Dallas it’s been interesting the last couple weeks uh this city I’ve never seen so much excitement for SMU than I’ve seen over the last couple weeks look I think you’re seeing it in uh Tempe as well with Arizona State programs that even historically don’t necessarily have like the you know a huge falling this and that you’re seeing it with the Chargers in the NFL when you start to win the fans show up like I’m watching the Chargers Ravens game a few weeks ago so that game too the heart I mean was that it looked electric on TV I’m like where do these Chargers fans come from 70% of the crowd is probably charger fans I’ll I’ll I’ll tell you where they came from they start to win people will show up you’re seeing it with SMU you’re seeing it with Arizona State so I I think it’s awesome I think it’s fun to watch and um I hope SMU gets the nod I don’t have a great feel either way but uh we’ll find out here in probably about 10 minutes or so when sb2 they’re they’re doing a second round which is a huge difference than playing Oregon or Georgia yes so if you look at our Bracketology that still sounds funny to say in this sport uh of where we project this right now you get Texas taking on SMU in a 512 match fun as hell by the way if if you’re Texas you’re sitting there saying you’re all right at 5 we even though SMU we feel as a pretty decent football team we still much rather face them than let’s say Tennessee for that matter y so this seating is very crucial and it also 5 through eight get the home games 9 through 12 are the teams that are going to be on the road for how this is ultimately decided and one thing I think that’s worth noting on this as well the committee has made it known they do not care about if you’re in the same conflict if you’ve already played each other let the cards fall where they may so we’re projecting Ohio State and Indiana they played just a few weeks ago to already have a rematch in the first round if that were the case I’d be very curious to see what do we see out of Ohio State after that loss to Michigan are they going to reset or is that team that is falling apart and ready to get rid of Ryan day yeah no question about it and uh look I think the pin State Ohio State discussion is interesting Tyler because Ohio state has the head-to-head they also played Oregon a little bit closer on the road whereas Penn State lost in a neutral field uh so I do think head-to-head is going to come back into play uh with Penn State losing last night now they say they don’t care about the matchups but they could avoid that uh Ohio State Indiana rematch they could put Pinn State at seven they did not play Indiana in the regular season and Ohio State could fall to eight maybe they justify that by saying well we didn’t want to punish a team for playing in the conference title which I I I argue against I don’t have a strong opinion on who should be ranked higher out of those two I think they’ll have Ohio State Higher um but if they do want to avoid at least round one re uh rematches that’s kind of the way to do it you just have Ohio State be the eight seed and Penn State be the six or seven but um we’ll see how it how do we kick Indiana out so we can put Alabama in right I will say this by the way I think Indiana should be like I I think they should be in but like if we’re going to debate like I think SMU is more worthy than Indiana Oh yeah so if anything that should be the debate is Indiana but I don’t think Indiana is going to look good in this playoffs based on what we SE what’s the best case scenario they get Notre D in round one is that their Penn State I think if they get Ohio State or sleeping Ohio State team if they get Ohio State or Texas and yeah if Ohio State doesn’t show up but I think they’ll get throttled I think of those top teams Ohio State might be the the most likely to not show up yeah it’ll be one of two ways they’ll either play really inspired or they’ll just fold right which they have tended to do in big games recently under Ryan day so so I think that could be very fascinating could be a good spot for IND I’m turning uh sub only chat by the way on because the Bots looked fantastic Boise State I feel like that they have kind of left something on the field the last few weeks that they haven’t played to the their full potential and you may ask they played a great first half against UNLV and then they just didn’t you may be asking what’s at stake with being that number three seed it’s a spot in the fiesta bow which is right in Arizona State’s own backyard not terribly far down the road from Boise State whoever ends up being the four seed you get shipped out to the peach bow so at the end of the day yes you’re glad either way to have the first round by but that’s a huge difference for whoever gets that three seed to get to either play in glint as opposed to playing in at especially for ASU right I mean if they’re playing in their backyard that place is going to be rocking uh Boise as well has good history at the Fiesta Bowl as we both know so yeah that that is a big deal um to to see who gets gets that spot and again just based on potential opponents you’d probably rather be the three instead of the 4-2 based on uh that quarterfinal matchup okay Dylan heck SMU about to get shafted worse than TCU and 14 I don’t know if it could be worse than that Dylan but uh I hear what you’re saying if it happens that would be uh that would be disappointing where were you on that day uh I was in my junior year of college in our the house I was renting with a couple buddies and uh I saw it coming from a mile away I saw Barry Alvarez fold in the Big 10 title game and I was like they’re going to put Ohio State in this thing and that’s exactly what they did uh Bama out SMU out Old Miss or South Carolina in I would make a stronger argument for South Carolina but we saw last week Tyler not only is South Carolina behind Bama they’re behind Miami and Old Miss as well like that’s just too much real estate to cover when none of those teams played this weekend and we heard from the committee last week that it wasn’t going to change for teams that did not play this past week so if you’re Miami Old Miss and South Carolina you’re pretty much done at this point that that’s not going to change no matter how much politicking you do so by the way ESPN debating who gets the final two buys actually having a graphic that includes Clemson next to Arizona hilarious that’s an embarrassment that’s hilarious that is an absolute embarrassment here are our mock rankings by the way just uh kind of going through it again teams here at the bottom don’t matter a ton except for you know potentially to add top 25 wins for uh teams who are being debated here um again South Carolina I I don’t see how they’re going to jump Old Miss Miami Alabama all of a sudden based on what the committee told us last week we do have SMU ahead of Alabama though yes and we also have climpson ahead of SMU that was one point that we made a quick call on last night of the committee awarding the head-to-head plus the conference Championship right and the conference Championship for Clemson there yeah then you go to the top 10 uh Boise State at nine Arizona State 10 Indiana 8 Tennessee 7 pin State 6 5 through eight is going to be interesting to see how that all uh shuffles because you could make a case for uh a number of those there and by the way 5 through eight in the bracket so really three through six in the rankings but the four teams we’re talking about Tyler uh as you look back at the bra our projected bracket Notre Dame Texas Penn State Ohio State I think you can make Arguments for and against all those teams to be anywhere for 5 through eight uh I really do so um it’s going to be interesting to see what they decide there I don’t think there’s a path for Tennessee to to get a home game I don’t think Penn State’s going to Plum it to number nine uh in the bracket for playing Oregon tough uh I will say this if it fell this way you could get a potential Penn State Oregon rematch in the quarters uh which uh would be interesting and which uh which game is the one seed at like where’s Oregon going they’re going to the Rose fact I’ll tell you so you would get a old school Rose Bowl Penn State Oregon Old School Big 10 pack 12 that’d be kind of that’d be kind of fast assuming pen State beats Tennessee Tennessee would still go if they beat yeah if they beat Tennessee So speaking of by the way those bowl games uh this is based on your traditional conference tie-in not based on your geographic location so Georgia actually would go to the sugar not the peach in their own backyard okay uh Boise State would go to the Fiesta Bowl in Arizona state would go to the Peach Bowl and then which side of the bracket here is Cotton Bowl and which side is uh Orange Bowl that also is TBD depends on preferred location so in this case I believe Oregon would declare they would rather go to the Cotton Bowl as opposed to the orange I think so so the Cotton Bowl would be on the left side of the bracket the orange would be on the right also even if it’s not um even if it wasn’t closer geographically I think would choose the cotton ball anyway they want to play indoors that’s a track we saw that last night that speed on Turf indoors was too much for Penn State to handle so not to mention they want the best conditions possible uh Georgia getting that side it’s a pretty quick flight from Atlanta to Miami I think if you’re Oregon you would want to avoid you know yeah that being the case uh who is number five Penn State Ohio State or Texas type one for Penn State two for Ohio State three for Texas I think it’s going to be Texas here but I got to tell you I think this Texas team is looking pretty vulnerable Quinn hasn’t played that great they’re just leaving a lot of meat on the bone I mean their last don’t have a win against a team better than an eight and4 record I don’t think Texas is as great as advertis I think the one thing if if you’re a Texas Fan out there you can feel good about is they probably have the the best defense in college football so I I if they can just find a way to clean up some things offensively their defense is going to be there but you’re right they they outgained Georgia by over 200 yards in the first half yesterday and they’re up six to3 it’s like what is the issue they they they’re they’re just leaving so many points out there so and at some point you can’t just be like well they should have won by this well it’s like well you do it week after week it kind of becomes a trend so yeah I I think Texas is a good team I do think they can win a National Title I also think they could lose in the first round I would not rule that out so uh it’s going to be very interesting to see uh what they what they do with these teams you could make an argument for Notre Dame debate of SMU and uh Alabama as we get closer to the end here but uh we’ll see how they handle this 5 through eight grouping of Texas Notre Dame Ohio State and Penn State yeah I feel like so far it’s gone kind of how we expected of the top four seeds yep uh there’s Clemson Clemson Clemson’s the 12 seed so that means if SMU is in Tyler they’re ahead of Clemson so we got that wrong and that I disagree with did we not just see them play last night yeah and you could say okay well two losses versus three but one’s a conference champ the other one is not and they lost the head to-head I think that’s enough to overcome literally would just saw the play is this bad news for SMU does that mean Bama’s getting in MC Murphy will never recover Tyler if he got this scoop wrong yeah Clemson is ranked 16th so they only moved up one spot after winning that game last night that doesn’t sound good for SMU that yeah that does not Texas is the five seed so Texas will host Clemson in an all orange matchup in Austin which will feed into Arizona State and the Peach Bowl in the quarters Texas Clemson is the 512 matchup what do what’s your early take on that game I kind of like Texas big I I know you’re a little down on him but I’m a little down on him but that’s the best matchup Texas could have got in outside of Indiana in my opinion I I don’t really think Clemson’s that great I don’t either I got my doubts about Club Nick and company there I think Texas has got to be feeling pretty good about their draw I think even after last night you much rather face Clemson than you would SMU yeah I think if Clemson and SMU played again in a week I would pick SMU to beat them like yeah SMU played their C game last night and almost one yeah so Clemson the 12 seed Texas the five seed feeding into whoever the 11th seed is so that means they’re going to be ahead of Ohio State and of note they’re the number four team in the country so that actually does bode well for SMU because that tells me not rewarding Ohio State for their head-to-head win over Pinn State yeah I think they’re basically they’re saying well Penn State making the conference title game carries more weight and plus I’m guessing here’s Notre Dame as they get the seven spot awaiting Georgia so I think we’re getting Tennessee Ohio State by the way in Columbus I think that’s going to be the 89 game I would expect that to be the Saturday night Prime Time game yeah that’s if if that’s what we get that’s a that’s a pretty fun matchup right there yeah I think that’s where probably college game day would go and if you’re Oregon you’re pretty pissed because those are arguably two of the top three teams of the teams they could have played State Tennessee and that’s probably who you’re getting I wish we did this the NFL format where the top seed was guaranteed to play the lowest remaining I think that’s a change they’ll make I I I think they they need to recede after after the first round but that’s a topic for a different day so we’re still waiting for 8 n 10 and 11 teams up for grabs Ohio State Tennessee Indiana SMU Alabama one of those teams will be out it won’t be the Buckeyes they are the eight seed I would imagine they’re facing Tennessee as we just mentioned Tyler yes uh Ohio State there at 8 and we’ve talked about all season and they’re ranked sixth by way that Oregon and Ohio State would likely rematch at some point in the year and here we are setting up for a quarterfinal Ray match potentially if Ohio state gets out of the first round so we know Tennessee and Indiana are in I think Tennessee will be the nine Indiana will be the 10 and then Embrace debate SMU Alabama how about this so if SMU Alabama the winner that is the 11th seed you played Penn State I I like my chances if I’m SMU or Alabama that’s that’s not the that’s about as good of a matchup as you could have gotten yeah um I’ll say this though how about Happy Valley Ohio State and Notre Dame all cold environments in December Tennessee going to Columbus that’s got to be cold um that’s the one thing if you’re Clemson you’re going to warm weather in Austin so climate wise I think they’re they feel decent um but yeah Pinn State Ohio State Notre Dame all going to host games um it could snow in all three places it could it we saw that in the NFL a couple weeks ago all those Midwest cities were snowing all right we’re still awaiting here Tennessee is the nine that just came in that’s the game of the first round I I think you’re right that’s prime time Saturday night yeah unless Bama gets in and then they might go Bama Pinn state for Ratings right I think you could argue either of those games would draw better they’re both going to do huge numbers is that the herb Street Fowler game I would assume the Saturday night uh I believe so yes okay so we’re going to hear Indiana here I would imagine they’re the 10 seed Tyler and then we’ll wait to see who gets the final spot so two more spots remaining so do you think they intentionally avoided a a rematch they put part of Penn State being higher was not to have Ohio State Indiana rematch in the first round um you know don’t put it yet but yes they said that they weren’t doing that but evidence shows us that they may have now Penn State being two spots ahead of Ohio State Maybe not maybe they just like Penn State better there it is a battle for Indiana between Notre Dame in Indiana that’ll be a fun one Indiana the 10 seed if you’re Indiana this is probably about as good as you could have drawn as well right you didn’t want to play Ohio State Tennessee 99 uh Indiana 10 SMU 11 and Clemson 12 what do you make of um Clemson being behind SMU I would say SMU throughout the course of the season was better but I am a little surprised I am too I thought that hey we just saw them play last night like come on you know on a neutral field they clearly thought the um the resumés there was a big enough Gap there um interesting oh here’s Nick here’s St Nick Sabin turn it up ah he’s saying here at Alabama I didn’t know you were still the coach Nick oh man well I’ll tell you what kayin dor the pressure cooker got a lot hotter now three losses and you miss the playoff fair to say if they miss the playoff next year he’d be two and done they’d fire him yeah you can’t miss the play a 12 team playoff at Alabama two years in a row right I mean that’s pressure’s on kayin dor after missing the playoff yeah that’s uh that’s not good and listen Bama fans are going to complain they’re going to they’re going to say we played a tougher schedule we did better against better teams yada yada yada but don’t lose two games to six and six teams don’t get absolutely boat raced by a bad Oklahoma team two weeks before the playoffs is announced B fans believe me when I say this that committee wanted to put you in they wanted to they for they they had them ranked in position to get in but you left them no choice SMU did what they needed to do Clemson got that win and it didn’t work out why well why not with a $5 Super Chat B withu schedule goes undefeated while SMU with B schedule wins at most three games SMU doesn’t deserve to be in based on what Merit well why not because why do you think they would only win three games like I don’t think I think they would have beaten both Vandy and Oklahoma van yeah Vandy and Oklahoma whoa Mike Dibble okay Mike Dibble dropping a bomb um based on what look I mean we do this every year Tyler and there’s no they they think there’s no evidence because it didn’t we didn’t see it right you can only go off of of what we saw and Bama had an extremely flawed resume they did not pass the ey test I I don’t think SMU has a Flawless resume but you know Clemson like we seen the to tell you right now losing to Vandy in Oklahoma does not equate to going undefeated in the ACC no no and I I I think if you’re being objective by the end of the season South Carolina and ol Miss were better options than Alabama yes so forget SMU for a second in my my opinion Bama wasn’t even the top SEC team that got left out I I think South Carolina and miss much have much stronger arguments because Bama’s strongest resume point is well he beat Georgia well Old Miss beat Georgia more recently than you and they beat him by 18 points and you beat him by seven points in a game you led 28 nothing I I just this Bama team did not have a strong argument um and the chips fell where they fell I I think I think the committee got it right you could debate some of the seating in there Tyler but I I think they got it right um I think they got the right 12 team yes I think the seating there’s some we they get the seating right not necessarily but they got the right 12 teams I think that the committee they get a passing grade they get a passing grade uh Mike devil it’s like when you declare pass fail in a class in college they pass it may not have been an A but they with a $100 Super Chat burn great coverage as always Chad Sports is great as always have a wonderful rest of your day and I can’t believe they made the right decision Mike they did uh we can all sleep easy tonight Mike so does Bama play in like the The Cure Bowl now that’s the thing about this new playoff like the Citrus Bowl that is uh that is a tough scene all right for it well there you have it um let’s look back quick thoughts on some of these matchups before we uh before we get out of here how about early off the cuff picks we’ll probably do some preview videos for all these games but let’s go a little rapid fire who do you like in each of these games and why we’ll start Ohio State Tennessee who wins and why does that team win I lean towards Ohio State at home um on paper they’re still the most talented team of the country and Ryan day is coaching for his job he’s been pretty good when he doesn’t have to face Michigan I lean towards Ohio state but I think Tennessee is going to give them all they can handle I think that’s the best game on paper in the first round I will also lean Ohio State the main reason I will Tyler is Josh hyle has not been very good on the road especially against ranked opponents um I think that’s a tough spot the weather you would think would favor Ohio State although they haven’t been a great cold weather team as we’ve seen in these Michigan games in recent years I’d lean Ohio State but uh I think it’s I think that’s the best game I think that is absolutely the Saturday night Prime Time game yeah I think so and we should have those TV times here pretty soon as well Texas and Clemson Texas playing a home game in Austin should be an awesome atmosphere at DKR Clemson coming off the win in the ACC title game I think if you’re Club Nick uh homecoming right Austin Westlake so that’s that’s an interesting Ang if you’re Texas outside of probably Indiana this is probably the team you wanted yep I feel pretty good about Texas chance the only thing that could have gone better for Texas today is If Boise was the four cuz then their path to the semis would be Clemson and then boisey I think Arizona State can play with Texas yes I I I think they can I I Texas would be favored there but I think uh Arizona State can play with them uh I I’ll be honest I think Texas rolls against Clemson I think that’s double digits uh I I know they haven’t played their best ball here but I don’t think that’s a great matchup for Clemson they’re just a worst version of Texas they want to play similarly but they’re just not as talented right so I I don’t like that matchup on the road for Clemson let’s go to the other side of the bracking down Notre Dame and Indiana the Indiana Bowl if you’re Indiana Tyler could you have asked for a better draw uh you know Notre Dame isn’t super explosive as a passing team so if you can limit Riley Leonard and Jeremiah Love and those running backs kind of muck up that game keep it in the 20s I I think they have a shot I would pick Notre Dame I think they just have a little more talent but if you’re Indiana I think outside of the teams in the F top five or six you’re a pretty big winner today that’s a winnable game for Indiana in the first round not to mention when it comes to ticket sales and the secondary Market check out game time um Indiana fans this is perfect like that’s all we got to do let go to South band yeah let’s find tickets let’s make a way to make it happen try to hour and a half drive two hours is I’m sure there’s plenty of Indiana fans in South pin too so that is great for Indiana uh I think that that offense we’ll see how Notre Dame fares uh Notre Dame I think has looked a lot better since the Northern Illinois game earlier in the year Penn State NMU based on what we saw from Penn State and really SMU both last night I think depending on weather that could be a shootout yeah if if the weather is decent I I I like a lot of points in that game I think SMU can score on Pinn State um they will struggle to run the football Penn State’s got an excellent run defense but um I think you got to use the quarterback Jennings to run um he’s improved as a passers as The Season’s gone on they’ve got weapons on the outside um I I think this game largely I I will say this though you would think weather would for sure favor Penn State with jenning’s ability to run around I you know I I don’t think that’s the worst thing ever uh obviously Aller with his frame and his size his Mobility he’s going to be able to run some as well uh I like Pinn State they’ve got better Talent there but I don’t think this is a just smu’s got no shot in this game I I I think considering Tyler they didn’t know if they’d be in today the fact that they’re drawing Penn State is not bad like I I think that’s winable for SMU I think so I I I think that uh SMU comes into this thinking you know why not us with our offense offense cont uh and they weren’t even supposed to be in the conversation to begin with at the beginning of the season for at this point like all the pressure it goes back to Penn State again James Franklin can’t win the big game and all that right now let’s see what you do in a playoff stage against a team that you should be on paper anyway I do think Joel clatt has a good point he tweets this out what a horrendous job by the committee the team that was penalized the most was Oregon and the team that was re rewarded the most was Penn State I guess the duck should have just laid down the fourth quarter just atrocious and the point he’s making Tyler is yes Oregon gets the buy but they get the winner of Ohio State and Tennesse whereas Penn State gets to play um who are they playing in the first SMU and then if they win Boise right so I think this goes back to it’s not necessarily the committee’s fault but they got to change the you got to rece it after the first round that’s the fix you you do that you don’t have this problem but that that is a pretty pretty tough pill if you’re Oregon you’ve been the best team all year and you get either Ohio State the team who challenged you most or Tennessee one of the best teams out of the SEC that that ain’t easy and the reason why they did this too by the way this is a result of all those years of bad semifinal games that we had year and year again where the powers that be that said we want to do what we can to create as many good games as possible yeah so you do at the expense of Oregon hurting their national championship chances but it should result in better uh games better games overall Dylan heck uh then we’re going to get out of here shortly Louisville beats bama by a field goal book it yeah we’ll see where where they fall in the bowl games now Clemson is better says Vanderbilt owns your poverty team getting some TV times in Clemson Texas is going to be the Friday night game that’s kind of a fun way to kick it off well that’s the quarters right we’re talking about the first round matchups do we have other uh first round games um I’m seeing SMU Penn State is one of the TNT Saturday afternoon games so either noon or three um and still waiting on the others right now okay all right uh oh love it that’s more money for us he says bamaz wins Over Georgia Auburn LSU South Carolina Missouri what’s smu’s best win if not Bama then another sec was more deserving SM will be the worst game of the playoffs they will get blown out well we’ll see on that I do agree at this well why not I I could have heard an argument for South Carolina or even Old Miss I I don’t think Bama should have been in the discussion I I firmly believe that um you know I I probably would have still leaned SMU over those teams but I think sou if you had a South Carolina SMU debate Tyler and South Carolina got the nod I I I really wouldn’t argue with that that um but to Me Bama should not have gotten the nod there Clemson is better says when did SMU lose to Vandy in Oklahoma the answer is never and they certainly didn’t lose by three touchdowns in Norman so yeah final thoughts here before we get out uh got the right 12 teams I I disagree a bit on the order I would have had Arizona State ahead of Boise State I would have had uh Clemson ahead of SMU but I can live with what they did for the most part I think we’re setting up for some fantastic games a team that we haven’t really talked about a ton today I’ll say this I think Oregon is the team to beat still I think that they are without question the favorites but they haven’t dominated throughout this season I would say that they’re the most vulnerable one seed we’ve had in quite some time think about the potential path they have to have to win a National Championship either oh state or Tennessee not going to be easy let’s say Texas emerges from that bottom quadrant for the semis and then some kind of combination of Georgia or a rematch with Penn State that’s if if Oregon goes 16 and0 Tyler I know they haven’t been the most dominant team but I think at that point you would have to consider them one of the greater teams of all time just because of who they had to go through and they’d be the first 16-0 team ever so you know I wouldn’t say they’re more dominant than the LSU Joe Burrows or the miamis or the early 2000s whoever but if Oregon gets this done with this path they have to take they will have absolutely earned their their place in the history of the sport yeah I think so um would you take Oregon or the field I’d still by far take the field field field field field field no doubt um I think if you gave me two teams with the field I’d take the field I don’t know what that number gets to before I’d take like this amount of teams maybe it’s three or four four but I would uh I would take the field
