[Music] welcome into Mavericks today by Chad Sports I’m Jeffrey cooperstein and on today’s show have a little bit of a Christmas wish list for the Dallas Mavericks we’re going to talk about four things that I want the Mavericks to accomplish here during the holiday season but I want to know from you right off the bat before we get started with today’s show what is your one holiday wish for the Mavericks is it a guy you want them to trade for is it something surrounding Jason kid is it player based let me know down in the comments what your one holiday wish list is for the Dallas Mavericks and my number one is simply for Luca donic to stay healthy Luca has already missed a lot of games this offseason and I think this is Paramount for the Mavericks to win in NBA title look it’s a very long game for the Mavericks this season they have aspirations of playing in May and in June and Luca has already missed eight games this year will he reach that 65 game threshold to to reach all NBA and reach the awards eligibility now if he played in every game the rest of the season he would play in 74 games we all know Luca is not going to play in every single game the rest of the season at this point I don’t think he’s concerned about reaching the NBA being eligible for MVP Etc I think he just wants to be healthy for the playoffs and I think the Mavericks just want him to be healthy for the playoffs at the end of the day that’s what this team is looking forward to they’re not looking to win games in January and February they are but but they’re looking to win games in May and hopefully in June so if Luca stays healthy and can if he comes back and can remain healthy for the rest of the season this map seems going to go a long way number two I think acquiring a wing I think this is going to be the talking point of Maverick’s trade season with GM Nico Harrison and with them going forward because I feel like this is where they’re probably just a body short right now and there are a couple of people on the trade market I think the Mavs should take a look at we’ve talked about three of these guys already in herb Jones cam Johnson and Dorian finny Smith Chris bue I think is a guy to keep an eye on he has a 10.8 million expiring contract this year becomes an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season he’s on a terrible non-competitive Toronto Raptors basketball team and he’s a 69 forward he can score he could rebound a little bit he definitely rebounds better than Maxi he doesn’t shoot the three as well as kba does but Maxi is not even doing that this year I think bue would be an upgrade over Maxi kba in the coming months however you do you don’t know what you’re getting with bue On Any Given night one night he can give you 20 and 10 another night he can just be a complete noow and give you seven points and two boards so you don’t know what you’re getting with on a consistency standpoint but he may be one of the more affordable options for the Mavericks during trade season and he’s a guy I would look at if I’m GM Nico Harrison let me know what you guys think down in the comments though name someone that you want the Mavs to trade of the postseason and the the year they did that in 2022 they made it to the Western Conference Finals now they didn’t have it last season they didn’t need it because they won both of the first two rounds against the Los Angeles Clippers and the Oklahoma City Thunder in six games at home but ideally you want to have that extra home game if it does get down to that seven game I think the Mavs are one of the best four teams in the west I actually think they’re one of the three best teams in the west alongside Oklahoma City I think Minnesota and the Dallas are your top three teams there uh securing a top four seed’s important to me I ideally you’d like them to be top three but as long as you get four and you get that first round at home I think that would go a long way in helping the Mavericks achieve their goals and getting back to the 2025 NBA finals and then one last thing that I really would like to see as far as like team Personnel goes I want to see omx get his chance Maxi has come back from injury over the last two or three games and he just doesn’t look the same this isn’t the Maxi kba that was a really good player for this team for a long time Maxi can’t shoot the basketball anymore there are times where he just looks completely inep like his shot looks broke and it looks like he is The Yips the guy just can’t shoot anymore now he does play good defense and I know Jason kid values defense over offense from his position but I want to see Prosper play over Maxi to know once and for all if we have something if we don’t that’s fine I’m okay with that if ma ifx Prosper can’t play so be it I just really want to see this team I just really want to see this team invest in their youth invest in Max in omx Prosper who they had a first round pick uh who they tra they traded up or they traded back excuse me for a first round pick to get him I really want to see omx if he can play or not if he can’t that’s fine but hopefully we do have something there and of
