welcome to undrafted hockey fan I’m Brad today we’re doing some any chill news we got a ton of news that are happening uh again we’re on day eight day eight we’re if you haven’t been part of the uh stream yet we’re we’re doing uh podcasts every day so I’ve been doing I started uh last Friday so Friday Saturday Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday we’re now on the Eighth Day gonna be a 45 episodes I believe is going to be end up being um so we’re on number eight going strong um so we’re going to do a littleit NHL news today um if you again if you want to check out some of the other news and notes today and honest there’s a ton of injuries it’s on it’s that I was actually looking at all this information and all the news that I have today and I’m literally going to split the show in two two parts we’re going to do injuries just injuries um and then we’re going to do uh all a little bit of signings uh we get um a season debut for a certain specific goalie um and so and then we got a guy that came out of retirement to sign a one day contract so we’ll be getting that but first off let’s start off with the Toronto Mapes because that’s everyone’s favorite team right I mean it’s only the biggest the most popular team in hockey right one of the biggest so um we’re going to go with them we’ll start with uh Alex neander Alex Alex nander the better of the nander brothers um he had a father who played in the NHL as well of course it’s William neanders the best he’s phenomenal he’s one of my favorite he’s actually probably my favorite Toronto player um I really like him and I really like Marr Austin’s awesome awesome Austin is awesome as well but the reason I’m talking about Alex neand right now is he signed a one-year contract he was down in the Marley’s he actually supposedly um before the year started he actually had offers for other teams um NHL jobs and everything but he’s like no I want to play in the AHL uh at Toronto because I might have the opportunity to get a contract with the with the tronto police and then I could play with my brother so that was awesome so that was really cool of him to able to do that and everything uh so he gets a one-year contract for $775,000 so um with that the reason he gets that is because all the the dang injuries that they have of course you already know Austin Matthews is out um in Munich so that is one we have one aspect there Austin is he supposed to be coming back for next Wednesday’s game I believe so he shouldn’t be out there too much or one of one of their next games I think it’s next Wednesday I’m pretty sure um so awesome Matthew’s out of course you missing Miss on a center Center there then you have Max doow he just recently went on IR um so there’s another guy who can play center probably more like a third line Center David comp there’s your fourth line center right there uh actually you know what we’re g to do is we’re actually I’ll just show you uh if you’re on YouTube you can see it I’m G to pull it up on pedia um because you can see what I’m seeing so again you have uh again Austin Matthews on IR Max doy’s on IR David comp fourth fourth line C uh KY yr’s been out since he’s on l oh David C is also on L ltir so mind you difference between ir and ltir is is how long you can stay off uh I believe with injur Reserve you got to be out for like three games or certain number of days LTI by way uh is helps you actually capture recapture cap um ltir you have to be out for minimum of 10 games or 28 days so again Kar cro he had played one season one preseason game and then he went IR D comp of course LTI as well so there’s again another Center gone Ryan reev suspended five games for his hit on Darnell nurse so he’s out as well he’s a fourth line guy Matthew n got uh hit rocked pretty hard um he’s on IR as well so there’s a top there’s your top left wing max R betti is at LTI as well I mean it’s is rough I mean the only that looks I you Dakota murma Dakota murmers on ltir uh on the defense but like that’s I mean I think he got that was a season season injury or season uh start of the Season injury uh the goalies are fine but you just look at I mean how much is I mean I want let me look up how much I don’t know how much they have in cast Bas they just set aside right now because again that that helps you grit Gap back but I mean yeah LTI $6 million in in Jesus that’s a lot six million in injuries there a lot of different players that’s why some places that like Montreal has 10 and a half million dollars on ltir because of carry price um but that’s just one player right so um I want to find Alex neander right here so they brought so just let you know they brought up plenty of guys as well and they they signed Alex neander where you at buddy Alex neander he’s he’s not even on there he’s not even on pop yet holy smokes so um I wonder oh prob isn’t on line isn’t on the lines yet either so that’s crazy so we’re going to go to um actually I want to go to the depth chart and I want to see how they they position these now so um here’s the the lineup right now so wrong one so we’re GNA line up okay so you got Bobby MC Bobby McMahon okay of course you got Marner playing on the top line that’s fine you got sarz moves up from 2C to onec uh by McMahon is going from like 2C or or second line left wing or even third line left wing um playing on Top Line good for him by the way Robertson gets a boost in left left wing Holberg moves up again he’s more of like a third line guy neanders of course playing on the right wing geez M they call Fraser Mitten he got his first NHL goal the other day uh Steph the r you know minimum contract uh Nikita g g ganin G gakin anyways close I I think I’m almost there he uh he’s playing was playing the HL earlier Alex Steve AHL um Conor dward just got back and then of course there is 92 neander that is Alex neander playing in in the in the show with his brother which just so exciting again you have one two three three guys that are a four guys are ahlers you got Steves Minon uh gan and neand and Alex neander four ahlers which is crazy to me geez that’s crazy and then you have phip Myers is a 7th D um as well but again defense looks all right haena came back mccab tanov Ben Juan Timmons that’s fine oh here you go you can see all the guys are out oh e Ean Larson’s being no Ean Larson be playing he’s not gonna be scratched that’s silly unless he he’s also an IR he’s DayDay with oh this illness we’re good DayDay with an illness still he’s out he’s in the Press Box so Jesus Christ that is crazy that’s just so wild honestly it’s it’s it’s wild that they have all those injuries um and I I can’t even begin to detail all those things I mean it’s it’s it’s impressive so uh any who um we have we’re gonna we’re gonna be moving on we don’t need this anymore up um so again we have some other uh injuries as well um we have uh captain of the Seattle Kraken um Eberly is out he got pelvis surgery uh he’s out for at least three months that is hard for the let’s pull up the um Seattle Kraken standies over here um that is tough for the uh for a team like them because they don’t have you lose your captain especially it’s a huge deal because you’re I mean he’s your captain he’s one of your better players and I think he performing really well I mean they’re still out of a playoff spot right now they’re still behind Colorado Vancouver and Edmonton for a wild card spot um pulling up Seattle Kraken let’s pull some stat real quick so um they’re currently 10 n and one fifth in the Pacific Division so um you got mccan 21 points in 20 games Montour 13 points in 19 games wow that’s a pick drop off it goes from 21 points 21 points by Jer mccan to 13 by Chandler Stevenson and Montour at least they’re um ufas are putting up some putting up some points you and you 11 points but for Everly gez that’s that’s tough so I mean I mean what do you do I mean in Vince dun is hurt too he’s only played four games Daniel strong got he he got picked up one one goal in three games excuse me holy smokes I apologize um anyways um so that’s tough that’s tougher honestly Seattle but to me I have them missing the Playoffs anyways pretty yeah I hav missing missing the Playoffs so if I go to the Pacific Division I had Vegas La Flames are going to flame out nope um I didn’t have Utah I didn’t have let’s actually the west of the Pacific Division instead be easier for me first division um yeah Vegas La Edmonton Vancouver and calary Flames 25 points they’re second in the division holy smokes that’s wild they’re doing really good against the East they got 61 and two against the East holy smokes good for them damn man are we under are we underestimating the Calgary Flames are they trying to go for it I mean either way they’re gonna either go for it or they’re gonna get some really good assets for those guys back I mean like kuseno uh there STS of kadre potentially want to tra be traded to Toronto because they’re looking for a center which would be which makes so much sense Toronto just loved Cal uh Cal Tron just loved um cadri goodness gracious I’m losing it here um okay then we have Mo on to the next one we have Obie dude oie I I put a couple shorts about this um Obie uh hurt he fractured his uh fibula he’s out four to six weeks and he such a hot start let’s again we’re going to go to let’s go to the um St stats of I’m going to pull up the Washington Capitals because the Washington Capitals were doing really well one in the standings let’s go to the the standings they are third in the division with 27 points they were actually if they were in the Atlantic they would be the best team in the Atlantic but they’re third in the Metro that’s just just shows you how good the Metro is so the rate behind New Jersey and uh Carolina only by one point so I mean they’re just they’re really they’re very much in there um with oo I’m curious on what that’s going to look like and you have Dylan Str put up 28 points in 19 games that’s amazing avkin 25 points in 18 games 15 goals he is on a let’s see 15 goals in 18 games 15 divided by 18 times 82 he’s on a 68 goal pace which Austin Matthews got 69 goals last year and mind you obin’s like 10 years above his above him in age and he’s like 37 I’m pretty sure that’s crazy and he only plays 17 17 minutes a night that’s so stupid that’s so stupid I love it though I absolutely love it I mean but I love that oan was trying dude he could have he honestly to me he could have broken the scoring Rec record he’s not that far away from from Gretzky uh let look up NHL gold leaders all time right because we’re we’re looking at we go to oh Quan hockey nice Quan hockey one up here um you have Alex lekin six 868 goals and Wayne Gretch is 894 so he’s 30 26 away he’s 26 away right 26 away 18 uh I’m GNA do 82 games minus 18 uh uh divided by oh so 64 games so times um try to figure this out he’s at a 50 so if he did 53 game 53 games to be able to pass Wayne Gretzky that’s crazy no that’s less less than that anyways I think he can still do it this year I think comes back because you have a lot of breaks you have a lot of time off during this time because you have a lot of holidays and everything um so have some time off um and I think he won’t be playing in the four nations cup either so able to slowly get get back up to speed I I think he can do I think he can do it this year it’s going to be tough but I think he can do it guaranteed next year though guarant next year Obie beats Wayne gry’s goals and I’m honestly I’m ready for it I’m going to be watching those games like a hawk man um another one we have is the or is the uhh Freddy Anderson of the Caroline hurricanes um he’s having a tough I mean that’s that’s tough he’s always been injury riddled as a goalie always had issues and everything but this is tough for them I pull up the go tending I’m on espn.com so uh Freddy Anderson he only played four games he had three wins and one loss A 1.49 goals against average that’s awesome that’s phenomenal 0941 save percentage again phenomenal um but he’ll be out eight eight weeks um he’s getting some clear some stuff clear up at his knee so that will just take some time he’s again he’s injury-prone um but you have pet petor Che P coov 12 games played 10 wins two losses 2.3 goals against average that’s phenomenal as well and a 0907 safe percentage that’s actually above average safe percentage right now in the league so I’m not mad about that I mean of course the K hurricanes have a good spot in that case so um and that’s good for yeah I like that so we did a couple things got a couple news a lot of injuries which is I mean you rather guys get injured now but you know that that like hurts the production later we just saw um uh was it John Taris he had the flu he’s really sick and he end up losing like eight pounds in the time that he was sick and that’s like muscle gone that’s dehydration and everything so and it takes guys even longer to get up to speed with those types of things so I could see you know Obie taking time maybe maybe his shoulders bother him his wrists are B bother him so we can heal a little bit so his fibula with again jack McBain uh I I made the joke I don’t think this is I don’t I don’t do this hockey if you’re hockey players you’re watching Jack McBain hit Obie took him out then he then by the way uh McBain fought uh Tom Wilson because you know you knock out Obie you knock out my star I’m gonna hit you and I I I joke that everyone in the NHL every team until the end of the season or until oie gets back should be fighting Jack MC so um I don’t do that I I don’t think he needs to do that but I I was Furious that that happened so any who we’re going to jump in some ads again you get to explore a little more stuff but yeah so uh Brett Howen signs it up signs it third line guy pretty cheap that’s pretty easy um I don’t mind that at all um I don’t know I I don’t know if I would have gave him that long I guess he’s 27 though it takes him to be 32 um and again they can always move move him if they want because you know that’s exactly what Vegas does is they gave you a nice long contract let’s see any movement stuff no Clauses in there so he can get moved around at any point but he’ll be 32 and it ends so he has some guaranteed money coming to him which is really nice as well um one thing I thought was really interesting is Travis sanheim hit the far he this year traveled the furthest on the ice going 4.7 4.6 miles during a game which I thought was really interesting that’s like a that’s a good amount of I mean imagine just running running four and almost four a little over four and a half miles I mean skating is definitely different um that’s a lot of you’re doing a ton of work these guys are again professional athletes you’re having to handle your stick handle your body skate up and down like you need to do a lot of things and be very well uh aware of all this um but yeah trais San sanheim of the Philadelphia Flyers traveling pretty far so far traving the farthest this year um we have another one we have Zack runy had a 5.9 versus Tampa Bay to me I I’ve always liked Zack rensky probably because he is um Dyan Lin’s roommate from when they played at U ofm and so I’m always like oh man like it’d be really cool to see get Zack one rensy um as a I I think to me he’s going to end up being the next Captain unfortunately of the uh Columbus Blue Jack that’s just my opinion I just think that’s like oh that kind of makes sense because like he’s been there so long and everything um look at them Columbus Blue Jackets are doing they’re not doing terrible they’re tied with Red Wings Philadelphia Flyers Pittsburgh Penguins and Columbus BL and the Blue Jackets they’re tied with them so they uh which I mean good for him like they’re doing they’re doing okay they’re kind of hanging in there they’re playing competitive hockey which is nice they just sent down David Y which is odd by the way Zack rensy 19 points in 19 games they’re playing well you got 19 points in 19 games by Shawn monam 19 and 19 by for rensky marchenko 18 and 19 uh chikov 13 and 19th cylinders so put up good numbers 12 and 19 as well I mean that’s not too shabby guys I don’t mind that at all um we need some more V dude you need to needs to pick it up um Kent Johnson looks like he’s coming back strong F in five games got seven points that’s phenomenal that’s exactly what you want to see uh Demitri verono six points 10 games Matthew Olivia nine points in in 19 games a guy that you don’t really expect much from is him so again I I like what the blue Jack I think they have some good spots I think they some good pieces um I just don’t know what the plan is long term um I don’t know if they’re their selling guys or they have so many good young guys too they have David Ur they just sent down um I think he’s he’ll probably end up getting traded as well there’s some definitely some rumor rumors around him I mean you’re not going to get the fifth overall pick that he was the fifth or sixth overall pick that he was um you can get like a late first or an early second um sixth round pick in in 2022 so we’ll see I’m sure he’ll be killing it with the monsters down in the uh AHL so again we’ll see uh we’ll see how that ends up happening so uh we also have uh yaroslav asra makes his season debut with the San Jose Sharks reminder that is a the one of the big trades that ended up happening with yof ascra sending over him I actually well actually we’ll just pull the deal right now um askarov trade um again it was it was a huge trade um P pieces from the Predators so originally asra was drafted by the uh predators and so you end up getting so s Shar pick up uh yarov ascra Nolan Burke in a third round pick in the 2025 draft I’m sending back over Magnus Crona which is a prospect by the way his Magnus kona’s girlfriend or wife whatever is a very funny Tik tocker um they sent over David edstrom who was a first- round draft pick by Vegas Vegas sends him in the hurdle deal and now David est’s going to Nashville so this so this guy hasn’t been drafted for even a year yet because he was drafted last year in 2023 yeah and or he’s been a little over a year and he’s been traded twice already which is hilarious by the way um and then a conditional first- round pick which it’ll be either uh if it’s top 10 uh the Sharks will have a choice of either transfer their own first round pick pick or the the golden knights so um let’s see let’s look at Dave edstroms what what he’s playing with right now I want to see what how he’s doing because it just cracks me up that he’s doing that he’s with Funda out in um shl 11 points in 16 games not bad he’s a young kid so and again in the shl you’re trying to play um you’re trying to beat other teams you’re actually like trying to compete like in in the sense of the AHL AHL see more as like a development league um and shl they’re trying to win they’re going to play your best guys they’re not trying to develop a young guy but the young guy play plays well happening oh there we go there we go I’m back baby don’t you worry about it I’m back I know you Spotify people were wondering where you go um but yeah so with the ascra deal or the shl um it’s a they want to win they they have if they have a young player who’s really good good awesome great good great Graham wonderful but again they want guys that are win that they can win with that’s why um Scalia of the shl who Axel Sandy pel plays with plays just uh signed Luke Richards Luke wowski Luke wowski who was playing in the AHL um he’s a tough grinder I think he just has a different opportunity there so good for him man them and he’s Mr Magic so we’ll see um I’d be really excited to see um him be a more integral piece in the organization whether being as a scout or as a like a coach something like that I think he’d be a great Russian Scout um again kind of keep some tips on bu chov and everything and they have a great Russian Scout over there I can’t remember his name um of course they have hakan hakan Anderson out in um Sweden but anyways that’s a huge one again congrats J on a phenomenal career going to Hall of Fame as well um again you’ll be raising the banner I imagine once they they’ll retire his number and Zed’s number together in my opinion that’s just my but again Z zberg did not get he was not a first batt Hall of Famer but he will probably end up being retired next year so hopefully fingers crossed we’ll see but on that note we wraping up this quick we have a short episode today again if you haven’t checked out some of my other videos check it out we had the interview with the uh Bruins
