game in ACC play for a young Duke team that really since their Kansas loss has just been playing at least finishing games in a phenomenal fashion um which is something you like to see from Young teams subie when we’re looking at this game against a Virginia Tech team that has really struggled this season what do you need to see from Duke to feel confident about them going into like the next stretch of games which includes on the road against SMU and at home against pit maybe just a sustained level of Focus right this is a New Year’s Eve game right against not just a inferior opponent a straight up bad team like and you’re at home it’s going to be one of those sleepy games where you’re like all right let’s get to the New Year’s Eve celebration let’s get together as a team we’re going to beat up on vodek can you keep that sustained level of uh focus and can you use this game to maybe fine-tune your offense a little bit uh Virginia Tech comes into this game having lost three of their last five there it’s it’s bad it is bad in blackburg um and I think Duke’s gonna own Virginia Tech on the glass Duke takes care of the ball meanwhile Virginia Tech does not like there’s a bunch of reasons why Duke is going to win this game and I’ll give you a final score prediction uh at the end but this Duke team honestly Connor the more and more I watch them it’s almost like they’ve become the villain that they hated which was late 2010’s west uh not West Virginia Virginia where they’re just insane defensively not that special offensively uh do you see any parallels between like the Tai Jerome Malcolm brogens no am I am I reading too much into that no I mean I get what you’re saying um and while that’s true I think this Duke team can also win just based on talent and I don’t like that Virginia team there wasn’t a single player maybe TY jome but there wasn’t like a single player on that team that could just out Talent every opponent they played and that’s something yeah I pushing it maybe but like this this this Duke team is has the potential to be something special um I’ll do you one better Virginia Tech has lost seven of their last nine and they have five wins four of their five wins have come at home against kenpom teams ranked outside the top 300 so uh I think this is pretty cut and dry for me it’s just get just get everyone going just make sure that you go into this game you give your fans a show um and and get everyone going because I think what we’ve seen from duke the last couple of games is like against George Mason for example it was basically all Cooper flag and then like you’ve got you know a couple of buckets here and there I think uh you know three players scored three buckets or more outside of Cooper flag and it was three by Proctor three by conle and three by Isaiah Evans and and I just I just think when you’re starting to get into the actual tough games of ACC play you’re going to want a more spread out attack relying on Cooper flag to win you some of these games but not necessarily putting all the the onus on him against George Tech it was a little bit better he was actually the third leading scorer uh Mala watch and and kiple scored more but again you then had like Sion James only scoring seven um Cooper flag had quite a few turnovers so just just getting everyone going and I think this is one of those games where like it could be a sleepy game it’s a it’s a New Year’s Eve game but and it’s an inexperienced team but this could also be a game where like theoretically D could just blow the doors off Virginia Tech and sit their starters in the second half and they can get their celebration started early like it just I think that’s what you you kind of want to see um but I don’t know about you is there anything you’re looking for from Virginia Tech I guess the play of Toby lall he’s the only one I kind of feel for him man the transfer from VCU because VCU I think right now is sitting the top the A10 um Toby lall is a pretty good player but that’s all they got man like Virginia Tech and and Mike young the experiment might be over the the clock I think is ticking because Virginia attacks a proud basketball program man like this is a a school that used to have a gym that was rocking and really difficult to come into and win ask Duke as a matter of fact Duke had trouble winning in Virginia Tech a few years um so I think Mike young like this experiment might be coming to a close but I guess I’ll look for Toby lewall he can be a fun player and I hope he gets his because the Hokies aren’t winning this game Duke is actually going to win this game the question is by how much and I think what’s going to drive that is Duke’s offense um their game against Seattle the offense wasn’t that amazing so I think they have a pension for not playing the best offense they can um and so I do have Duke winning but I’m just curi ious by how much what about you yeah I mean I think I I think you’re at this point with Virginia Tech where you have to start like let’s see what Ben Hammond can do let’s see what like some of these young guys can do maybe give them some more run maybe convince them not to leave at the end of the season um and and just kind of head into next year because they’ve got a lot of underclassman on this roster and I think that is partially contributing not I mean it doesn’t contribute to losing seven of nine including a home game against Jacksonville but it it’s partially contributing to some of their struggles um so just just play tough uh kenpom has this game as a 24o win for Duke just just to put it in perspective what uh what the analytics think diers does not have their game predictions up those will go up sometime Monday evening uh but you can sign up for dimer pro using going to be focused on the Afterparty whatever that is with shy uh so I think Duke wins only by 17 I’m going to say 77 to 60 um and this actually might be best for sh he’s going to be like great I got some things to work on uh and be mad about come 2025 and then they’ll Implement their New Year’s resolutions but Duke win 77-60 yeah and you can make sure make sure you tune in after the game we will
