hello Oilers fans Austin here with a quick news update I was going to do a day after discussion video today however after two attempts at recording after about 10 minutes my voice was completely shot and I lost it two times and I decided you know what I’m not going to do a video today however some uh waiver wire news came across the desk here at least across the desk which is x.com and the Oilers claimed defenseman Alec regula off waivers from the Boston Bruins now for those you who’ve been around the channel for quite a while you’ll know that I’m a Bruins fan so I’m sure there’s a lot of you that are wondering what my thoughts on this waiver pickup is and what it means for the NHL roster and of course Bakersfield because regula uh Boston was trying to send him down to Providence I think the organization valued this player uh he had a good year in Providence last year he was a plus 36 he had I think 22 points or something in 56 games um he he was a and he’s he’s a big right shot dman not completely overpowering not incredibly physical but he can use his body he has used his size but I’m going to be honest I haven’t seen this player a whole lot um haven’t seen them hardly at all if I’m going to be like 100% transparent with all of you so I can’t give a very accurate scouting report on him um but the Oilers claimed him he’s a right shot dman and I know right now in baker’s field they have a gluttony of right shot dmen they have very little left shot dmen in the pipes and they have a lot of right shot Dem man so what I’m thinking is going to happen here and I could be completely wrong what I’m thinking is happening is Edmonton will likely Place Travis dermit on wavers and try and send him down to Bakersfield and then they’re going to keep regula up with the big Club as the seventh dman however it could go the other way maybe they’re going to send regula down to Baker field but then they’re just adding more right shot deman to an already really stacked right shot deman cord that’s down there uh so it’s an interesting situation not sure what my overall thoughts are I think it’s a lowrisk potential medium reward situation I I think this is a fine pickup for Edmonton but it’s also kind of a nothing pickup unless regula suddenly gets into the Oilers lineup and just completely blows everyone out of the water but in terms of the NHL Squad we don’t really need someone like him or dermit in the lineup Troy steter and Ty emberson have been just fine Brett kulak and Darnell nurse have been one of the best defensive pairings when they’re together just period in the NHL and then Coman Bard so uh and if they were to send him down to Bakersfield well they’re going to have to make a move down there whether another Minor League trade or they’re going to have to do something when it comes to that situation really interesting situation here in oil country I don’t dislike the player but I don’t like him because I honestly just don’t know enough about him but for those of you who have seen Alec regula play a lot let me know your thoughts in the comments section below like I said I wanted to do a day after I wanted to do a longer discussion video um after the game last night I’ll have more content tomorrow I’ll have a pregame report up before that Minnesota Wild game and then I’ll do the postgame fan reaction after the game as well there will be no live stream tomorrow due to my work schedule however um another live stream will be upcoming soon I think I’ll be able to live stream during the Oilers and Bruins game next Thursday and then I’ll for sure be able to do a live stream for the Oilers and sharks on Saturday the 21st at 2 pm.
