Ohio State Bucky impressive win in the college football playoffs over Tennessee um Lance rosin with a a film breakdown of some of the keys to that Victory and uh Lance uh we had talked uh last week Buckeyes needed to play to their strengths and they did that was really the big key so take us through what you see there well it’s funny sometimes The Scouting Report works sometimes it doesn’t so this is just a Zone play uh with a quick hitch and this is getting the ball out you have a good run play called um then they have jeremia Smith players over plays right this is first down just take a shot to your best football player I think they did a great job and then they were creative if you look in the slot here you’re going to see Jeremiah Smith come around again knowing you’re going to get man coverage you’ve had a run play called but that’s okay now it’s a boot um they just did a really nice job now they got both backs in this is a a counter flat screen RPO so again just taking advantage of getting both your really good backs again going back to um this first play what they did was they they had some success running the football there was no question they had some success throwing the football but the best players touch the ball Smith uh Uka you had um trivon henerson Junkin these guys are all in the game they all made plays and that’s the key so the even though it didn’t it had nothing to do with their toughness and what this was my favorite play because this is a counter power Run play but then if they’re not going to honor it then you just split the ball to one of your best players so it’s taking it’s the idea of still being physical but doing what you do best and what they do best what Chip Kelly does best is he gets the ball out on the flanks so again instead of running the ball 14 times uh inside at those tackles like they did against the uh Michigan they got the ball out especially on first down and they gave themselves some options on first down either run the ball or throw a quick screen or get the ball out and things like that so I was just really impressed with how this the plan of Chip Kelly on we’re going to run the ball but we’re going to play to our strengths which I thought um this game plan would have been very very good against Michigan this is not um this is who they are it’s not all finesse but there’s some finesse factors and part of the Finesse is they’re great skill players so who cares get the ball out to your great skill players you got a chance to win a National Title yeah I I’m with you the the thing that everything there appears is they got their ball two Playmakers in space and if they do that there isn’t a team really in the country that can match up with them maybe maybe Oregon but I still get the ball and let let them worry about how to to tackle these guys in space um your second thing is probably even more important they control the line of scrimmage both sides of the ball so take us through that so right here you this right here you saw a sack there’s a number of sacks and they just absolutely destroyed Tennessee up front so the offens defensive line won it now you’re going to watch this next play you’re going to see the left guard right here watch him come down on this touchdown run and him just absolutely destroy uh the three technique or the two ey I’m sorry uh for Tennessee and just open a gaping hole for uh Henderson who just makes a great cut through the a gap for a touchdown the thing that throwing the ball on first down did is it loosens up the defense now the defense because of the balance it makes them um have to play true maybe have a five or six-man box and not a seven-man box but it really makes them play both because the Buckey can do both on offense now this is Mont gy this a kid who’s in there and you can see the strength these are all four and five star kids uh who have a ton of talent and when you run the ball you throw the ball to set up the run and that’s what the baket are because now they are physical but maybe they’re not physical where you know Michigan’s going to run the ball if there’s 10 guys in the Box Ohio State that’s not their style so if they get a if they get 10 guys in the box or eight guys in the Box they’ll throw it throw down the flanks and that’s okay but their toughness in that defensive line especially controlled tenness and Tennessee’s had some really good um offensive uh shows and things they did this year as they broke down the film so this wasn’t a fluke I know the back Samson was hurt a little bit but they had a bunch of backs to touch the ball this was a physical domination up front by both sides yeah and you know the thing Lance they that defensive line and defense in general set the tone early that the first quarter Tennessee you know they they were moving backwards and I think they rattled the quarterback I think they hit the quarterback a couple of times and he just he was sped up a little bit I was impressed with the malava his ability to run I I really was and I think he’s going to be an outstanding quarterback moving forward but again Ohio State played free and easy now the the thing is Ohio State going to Oregon you know if you look over the last couple years especially going in that Michigan game you don’t ever if you have the same um approach each week so each week it’s kind of like that boring bellich way right each week is the next week and when you do that you don’t have to do anything special it’s like a high school team making the playoffs you can’t do anything special because the kids know it’s just like Dan know those are young kids in the NFL or and in college so you have to approach those games every game the same man it looked like the Buckey did that they got they got really physically dominated by Michigan and then did the same thing to a really talented Tennessee team so they have to play free they have to play easy they have to not you know they have to not say we’re GNA be tougher than the other team play to your strengths play good defense they got a chance to win it all they’re as good uh as any team in the country that version the version against Michigan uh will struggle against all the teams left in the playoff but that version against Tennessee can win a National Title
