the polls they are 21st on kenpom now they have not been the same team that they were at the beginning of the Season as of late now I’m not saying that’s been bad but they had kind of a quiet sleepy game against Colgate uh they beat Louisville by less than I think people expected and then they got blown out by Ohio State so it’s kind of been a weird patch for Kentucky lately uh but at home in rup Arena first first game at home against the top 50 team for Mark Pope I would think that this place is rocking as SEC play begins and uh Florida this is going to be a true measuring stick of how good this team is let’s start there cart how good is Florida I think Florida’s really really good I think that I think that wter Clayton is incredible I think that Elijah Martin the transfering from Florida Atlantic has been really good for Todd golden this year um will Rashard like that three right there is really really good and I just think that I actually I buy this Florida team being for real and I don’t want to jump the gun we’ll get to it but this is the everyone else gets on board with them being for real moment was it the uh was it the 17-point win over Wake Forest that showed you how good they were or was it the 13-point road win against Florida State or uh the 17-point win against Arizona State or maybe the uh the coin flip game where they beat North Carolina who might miss the tournament by six was was it one of those games that we’re calling that a coin flip or cart was it one of the numerous nine games Florida’s played against teams outside the top 100 that really impressed you oh outside the top that outside the top 100 part that’s interesting to me because where’s that outside the top 100 at what would Florida’s record be what what website is that kenpom kenpom right kenpom the team that Kemp pom thinks Florida is the sixth best team in the country they’re a top 10 offense and they are top 20 defense well if you never lose yeah you’re gonna end up sixth on cam honestly you’re 13 and0 and you’re only sixth come on that’s crazy you’re really really special if if Florida had played kck’s schedule kuy’s 11 and two they had to play Duke on a neutral they had to go at Clemson they had to play Gonzaga in like somewhere in Washington I think in Seattle maybe they had Ohio State on a neutral they had Louisville I don’t know why I included Louisville in that but I did uh six games against top 100 opponents cart can tell he’s 11- two on the year what would Florida’s record be if they played that schedule uh they would they would lose the game to Duke and that’s it they lose to Duke they lose to Gonzaga they lose at Clemson nope you think you’re really buying the skater Squad huh yeah I am yeah yes I very much so am they got you in like the the golden hole I I don’t know if I want to be there but sure you don’t want to be in the golden hole not necessarily I feel like right now Golden’s got you in the hole I’m I’m just I’m buying that this team has a three-headed monster basically and then they’re getting contributions from their front court that are enough like Alice K has been very solid this season yeah I don’t know I feel like Golden’s sending you DMS and you’re you’re you’re reading them you know can I ask you a question Greg yeah one thing that’s so enticing that people tell me when I say I want to pick Florida in this basketball game is that they got they got a stopper at the defensive point guard position they got a guy that can shut down Walter Clayton right doesn’t Kentucky had that guy you didn’t hear that from me but yeah in theory they do got it in theory in theory uh Bruce Thorton gave that guy 30 Chucky heurn gave that guy almost 30 what’s Walter Clayton gonna do to that guy are you talking just so I’m checking my notes real quick sorry are we talking about the Walter Clayton who had nine points against Jacksonville seven points against Southern Illinois eight points against North Florida and hasn’t scored more than 12 points in his last three games in the game what how many game how many minutes he played in those games uh well excuse me he played 32 minutes against Jacksonville when he had nine points he played 29 minutes against Southern Illinois when he had seven uh he played 22 minutes against North Florida when he had eight uh every other game he spent over 30 minutes this year including when he had 12 against Carolina in a game they almost lost and uh 12 in a game against stats got it with six assists and rebounds go on that’s the thing about it is what I’m I’m not worried about Walter Clayton going for 30 if that’s what you’re trying to tell me he doesn’t do that very often did at the start of the year did he he had 29 yeah he had zero games with 30 this year I mean he gave us he gave South Florida 29 he gave Florida State 25 he gave Virginia 27 he gave Arizona State 25 you know this is a great reminder I’m glad you’re going through these games a great reminder of how fraudulent this team is based on their schedule cuz who are the teams you’re talking about him going for 20 against like I’m supposed to be impressed dog I’ll go on record with this I don’t see it with this Florida team uh I understand that Walter Clayton’s very good he is very good he’s not great I understand that Todd golden is uh coach I understand that uh Elijah Martin’s actually a really good complimentary guy that is the one needle moving thing for me I think Elijah Martin’s great and I think him as a number two with Walter Clayton is a legitimately good piece Alex Conan’s been good he’s still not as good as they would have been if they had their actual Center who’s out for the season uh you’re trying to talk me into like will Rashard as like some really big needle moving piece he has been really good I still think a lot of that’s been schedule based to be honest I just don’t really buy him as like a dude dude at this point in his career but I don’t know seconde transfers maybe maybe I should be I don’t know at some point this is going to come crashing down for Florida what better time for it to come crashing down than against Mark po oh me me call me call me call me call me you it’s always schedule based until they have a win like this well yeah if they get the win then we can talk about them differently this is a pro it game for Florida for sure this is me versus you too you know who has proven that they’re awesome against top 10 opponents the team that’s two and0 against top 10 opponent do kuy’s biggest games this year have been their best games that’s a good point I got nothing for that that’s a really good point and it’s a big game right do you think Kentucky views this as a big game they should they should of course they should it’s fun when we’re against each other isn’t it not really I like it a lot um all right matchup wise what are you looking for uh the thing is this game to me is like less match dependent and really I just want to see Kentucky bounce back back that doesn’t sound like you want to see that but I mean I don’t want to see it but like are we at all concerned that against a a bad what I would consider a bad defensive team I mean I guess Ohio State grades out better than I’m giving them credit for but like how many points did they have in that basketball game they were able to get a good win against Brown blow them out okay that’s really fun and all well but like they scored 65 points against Ohio State yeah they gave up 85 points to Louisville yeah they give up a lot of points Florida scores a lot of points it does come down to what can the Kentucky defense do here um Florida plays fast they have a legit top 10 offense I think the one reason for optimism for me that Kentucky can be okay defensively against Florida is so much of Florida’s success offensively depends on second chances they rebound 41% of their misses they’re second in the sport at that the one thing that I feel really good about kuy’s defense with is rebounding they’re 30th at presenting offensive re or preventing offensive rebounds in the country now that’s a big spot for Amari Williams who is coming off a couple straight stinkers they need the Amari Williams that they had against I mean the first couple games of the season right he had 10 and eight against Duke also not just not just stinkers stinkers combined with like body language questions right effort concerns right they they need greater Mari Williams but if they get good to Greater Mari Williams um I do believe in this can I do the the kmom player comp thing again sure guess who Amari Williams most similar player comp is uh it’s my favorite thing ever Robert Williams Amari Williams so every other player has like 10 other players that they’re most similar to Amari Williams like he’s a lot like Amari Williams last year that’s crazy it’s great uh okay I know you’re on Florida and I I know that that’s gonna force you to answer this question one way but I just want to plug you into a lie detector test real quick uh and I want you to answer this truthfully for me in one hand I have a roster that has Walter Clayton Elijah Martin Alex Condon will Rashard Sam Alexis bban clavar Denzel Aberdine Thomas how and Ruben chinel that’s my left hand in my right hand I have a roster that includes Jackson Robinson Andrew Carr Lamont Butler egga o Amari Williams Brandon Garrison Kobe Brea Ansley Almanor Colin Chandler and Travis Perry left hand right hand you’re a coach you get to pick which hand you want to start your team with you get to inherit this roster which roster do you want I want the roster with Walter Clayton and you mean that truthfully yeah so I guess here’s my point I know that Clayton’s good but I think in order to buy what you’re selling here you would need to really believe not only is Florida like deserving of being like the sixth best team in the sport but also like truly this roster like really good outside of maybe Clayton too cuz Clayton’s not that singular respectfully there are other Walter Clayton in the sport ky’s seen some of them this year and done pretty well against some of them this year and I guess what I’m saying is I actually look at these two rosters I think I like kuy more and I’m I’m not a guy who screams about how good kenty’s roster is but like top to bottom or just like top like in general I think if we’re ranking players in this game I’d have Clayton W and there’s an argument the next four names I would take are in Kentucky Uniforms like I think OTA o would be the second best player on on Florida I think uh Jackson Robinson would be the second best player in Florida and then I think it’s probably a toss up between Lamont Butler Andrew Carr Kobe Brea Mari Williams where do those guys fall compared to like Elijah Martin or or will Rashard but like I If you put will Rashard on Kentucky we think he looks better than Kobe Brea the Kobe Brea that all the Blue Bloods wanted like he’s doing a lot at Florida against Bad teams because it’s Florida and like I I know Florida’s good I think they’re an NCA tournament team I think they’re a top fiveish team in the SEC but like they are viewed as a top 10 team in the sport and a contender because they haven’t played anybody that’s where I’m at now they got to play someone and ky’s deep their depth is going to show up and I don’t think their roster is that far behind Florida except for Walter Clay is deep it’s that rup Kentucky should win what if Kentucky doesn’t win then I’ll change my opinion yeah all right let’s get to predictions uh do you have anything else before we do I feel like I dominated this one you got anything no I I I appreciate you uh doing what you do I would just push back a little bit like let’s it’s ah I hate talk about Kentucky sometimes what this is like the one thing that’s going to get taken away from this it’s going to be sent to me 90 million times but um are we re like at the at the core of things yes like I guess ky’s roster top to bottom might be better but like when you take a step back and you talk about the guys on Florida that you’re taking you could also do the same thing and take a step back and see the guys that you’re taking with Kentucky in my opinion like I I get the wilver sh point but it’s egga O at the same time as well yeah they’re going toga o and like that’s if what if it gets what if this is a close game it’s TGA o time it’s Andrew Carr time I’m good with that i’ rather it be Walter Clayton time can I make i’ rather be Elijah Martin time can I make what I think would be the best argument for Florida of course you can here’s here’s the best argument for Florida in my opinion uh let’s look at November there’s been two full months of the season right now November and December in November that’s when Kentucky looked awesome right they looked incredible according to Bart torvic in November Kentucky was the fifth best team in the country they were one spot behind Auburn that month they played like a top five team in the Country Florida in November 14th in the country can tell you was 10 spots better what happened in December hasn’t been the same I alluded to that at the beginning of the year ky’s been the 43rd best team in college basketball over an entire month of play they’re one spot behind Xavier one spot ahead of Missouri four spots behind Arkansas but who’s counting what’s Florida been in that span card they’ve been the third best team in the country in the month of December so in month two something has clicked for Florida and something has not been there for Kentucky I don’t know if that’s going to translate to January it’s like eight games of a sample size but to me that that’s the best argument is Kentucky doesn’t look
