uh credit to Coach Moore in Michigan football on an absolutely dominant performance today um told the team uh I was I was poor um it was embarrassing uh you know got dominated in all three phases of the game tonight uh weren’t able to respond some to some adversity going into halftime and uh you know I I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again because it applies um you know when when you hit adversity uh you find out a lot about the individuals and the collective you know group as a whole and we’ll find out a lot about this group going into into senior day against Illinois uh rivalry game playing for a trophy uh that’s this isn’t the taste that we want in our mouth uh to send this group out um we have to respond and uh we’re going to have to sit in it we’re going to have to own it um there’s nothing to sugarcoat here uh got to get back to work on Monday and uh find a way to perform at a much higher level next Saturday Coach he guys had 26 rushes just 10 yards Jack was sack five times what did Michigan’s front seven do that made it so difficult on your offense they’re multiple they’re pressure oriented number 55 is a really good player um you know and again uh the the the lack of uh you know the the ball control by Michigan they were 11 of 16 on third down did not give our offense an opportunity to get any form of Rhythm and and then you get down multiple scores had a chance to go on at halftime being down by one score I think believe it’s was 10- six uh it’s a totally different game going into halftime 17 to six you know then defensively first possession we got to find a way to keep that a two-score game and get it back to our offense all of a sudden it’s 24 to six that that’s not a recipe for for balanced offense uh do do have to be better in the Run game but uh I I don’t envy our our offense’s task today uh in terms of you know there there there was a couple drives there with advantageous field position we felt like they were catching their Rhythm a little bit and uh you know going into halftime uh didn’t have that the rest of the day mat just the F great game where your defense is allowed the touchdown in the last minute of the second quarter you see a a common threat between those games and how do you that yeah I we got to do something right like I mean we we we we practice two-minute operation every Thursday um you know we we talk about winning in the middle eight uh but I mean that that everything has to be evaluated but especially that um our our performance in two-minute drill defensively uh has really hurt us and uh we got to figure out a different way to practice it a different way to rep it uh and uh change that Trend coach Jack right for almost a 40 yard completion and then on the next play Under for the end zone and that almost 4 underr was able to adjust to that was it the defensive line that was adjusting that was affecting D’s timing or was you know would have to go back and and take a look at the film to to give an accurate answer on that uh you know Jack did a good job on that first completion of getting the ball up early giving Bryce an opportunity to adjust to it great catch by Bryce um you know that’s second throw he’s got to put it on the back pylon I mean Bry is Bryce is wide open and uh and I Know I Know Jack would he had that throwback hey coach you know your offense has struggled quite a bit throughout the year but defense michig I think points G what do you did you see signs what did you see I mean shoot Evans Xander Mueller back uh you know I’ll be really honest steming with the result everyone’s going to look at me cross- side with this but you know I have a tremendous amount of respect for Michigan uh coach more their program uh won a national championship last year but truly felt coming into this game based on the matchup based on a offense that runs the football and Prides himself on that we pride ourselves on stopping the Run felt like if we could win the turnover battle value field position this is a game not that we were hoping to win that like we should win you know and and we knew we were going to have some issues with their D line like we we understand that they have some guys up front but uh you know that those first couple plays of the first drive I mean we’re we’re moving the ball you know we’re running it effectively that’s what we expected to see today and uh for us to uh struggle uh to to effectively stop the run not be able to Bow up in in the tight Zone and then uh you know what we saw there in the second half is uh totally uh does not align with with the standard of Northwestern defense and um it’s going to be something we’re going to have to own learn from and you know we got an opportunity to put a lot better stuff on tape against Illinois coach you talked about your defense PR stopping 5.7 a carry for the what do you think they did so successfully to neutralize yeah um you know they were coming off a bye there there there was a couple uh things that they did in their run game that again you know I I’m we’re always going to take full ownership the the the performance the tackling um not not not good enough there were some scheme stuff that they they did a good job of um you know but those are things we had an to come to the sideline adjust felt like we had good adjustments um but far below the standard uh not good enough they were able to rush the ball you know in third down situations picking up first downs again uh you know giving up that many yards per carry and uh you know for them to convert 11 to 16 of their third Downs is a recipe for uh what we saw out there tonight second michig exped can you talk about you what you saw that differed from the first half changes yeah um a couple things in the Run game that were you know again uh just smart scheme um but we had an opportunity to adjust to those things and then uh you know couple guys slipping out of fits Miss tackles it’s snowballed on us I mean there there’s no other better better way to put put it uh absolutely snowballed on us and uh you know humbling experience so again we’re going to find out a lot about you know me our staff uh our entire team collectively in terms of the way that we respond uh but that’s we don’t want to send this group out with the taste like that in their mouth how would you you know probably a guy that was affected by by the interception on the first drive you know I just um he’s he’s scrambling he’s trying to trying to make a play um forces it ball that should be be thrown away turns into an interception it’s not the end of the world it’s on the other side of the 50 you know it’s opportunity to flush it and on to the next drive but I just I just felt like after that um you know uh did didn’t didn’t see see the same Jack that you know we we’ve seen in so many other games continue to believe in that young man um love him ultimate competitor he’ll bounce back but uh you know that that uh I think that affected him he he he probably wouldn’t tell you that you know that’s that’s making excuses or explanations but um collectively as a team you know we got to do a better job I think we do a good job as a team responding after tough things you know when we have a week to prepare but these last couple weeks we’ve done a really poor job of responding in game to adversity last one BR Jack is under pressure basically sacks what do you think the offensive line make sure that number 12 can stay up yeah uh it’ll be telling in terms of what we see on film um you know I’m sure there’s technique things I’m I’m you know wink does a good job with this pressure package there were certainly some things that they were able to dial up um and you know this isn’t saying that the o line shouldn’t take ownership and continuing to improve but we also have to put ourselves in a situation as a football team not to be down three scores in the second half where we got to drop back most of the game like I’ll be honest with you we got very aggressive on fourth down you know I was telling Zach as we enter the fourth quarter anything close to Midfield we’ll go for it on Fourth and whatever like we didn’t come here to keep it close we came here to win a football game but you know from being a defensive coordinator over the course of my career in coaching D line there’s nothing more exciting than being up you know 17 points 24 points in the second half and have have an opportunity to dial up all your pressures pin your ears back that that is not a recipe for success for protecting the quarterback thanks coach thanks [Music] everyone go right into questions forer mu and Bry skirts not the result youed for def but how did it feel being able to get back out time yeah it’s was good to be back out there um I practice the last two weeks so it felt good um didn’t didn’t play well enough to help the team out to get a win that second quarter 30 yard game what were you seeing on get yeah so I mean we we saw that they they they were playing a lot of cover three so we were we ran a previous uh curl route earlier in the game so really I knew he they were in the same coverage so I just ran the um the double move hoping he would jump on the curl and he did enough um where I was able to get around and Jack threw a good ball [Music] so what do you see shift in the Run game from the first to second half where you guys 14 um yeah not a ton change we we didn’t do a good enough job doing our job um in terms of playing within the framework of the defense and um getting off blocks to make plays and um they capitalized on that and um we got be better next [Music] weeker felt like most michig passing yard check run what do you think def make you guys rally the ball uh yeah I think the the two-minute Drive was a big part of that and um couple of the linebackers and other guys jobs in terms of knocking them back and um anticipating that was we probably should have adjusted a little quicker to that in terms of um within the calls probably um some of the linebackers should have adjusted to make make breaks on the ball quicker twoed Zone trips two field goals how do you think this off can improve to capitalize and get yeah I think it just comes down to execution um I mean whenever we get down there like everybody has to win their one-on-one matchup and everybody has to know what they’re doing um so I just think that just comes back you know just just really prep prepping for that and practice just really putting an emphasis on the Red Zone um maybe like maybe coming up with a different like package that we can like throw in there maybe to get some bigger guys in there um but yeah we definitely have to execute in the Red Zone especially against teams like this
