Mario Chris Ball his staff amazing job that quarterback is man he’s he’s legit see why I can’t wait to watch him play on Sundays really excited about him and his future uh the running backs just the receivers that little number three man he’s something special seven did an amazing job also and then defensively those guys just did a good job man my hat goes off to the defensive staff Jason teller and the rest of those guys on that staff they did an amazing job man and I think that uh I’m hoping that uh you guys they should they shouldn’t be dropped less than 12 so I hope that we get to see those guys and the playoffs because they’re an amazing team you see how they fight you see that offense can score at any moment so those guys need to be at least 11 10 when it comes time to that and uh I’m just really proud that I had the opportunity to go against them uh means a lot to myself and to my family start Mark right next to coach congratulations I appreciate it you also thank you I don’t know what I did but thank you um you’re down 21 nothing and peña’s touchdown is called back can you talk about the mood of the team then and what the comeback showed about the character of your team I feel like the mood of the team was um was really on me I think that’s where coaching comes in play me making sure that our connection is together you know us being detail accountable Relentless and T and tough and I just talked to him about you know accountability touchdown was called back some someone wasn’t online so therefore it’s called back so that’s us on the defensive side of the ball uh we went out there and shot oursel in the foot and we gave them 21 points so um it was more so of the things that we were doing I thought thought there were a lot of self-inflicted wounds so once we got through with uh getting that out and got to play football I mean there’s only so much that you’ll be able to stop offense like that because they’re good in all areas on a football field so we were able to take some possession from those guys get them to punt the ball a few times and I think that helped us out FR just what was your message sort of to the team in the locker room afterwards I’m I’m what afterwards what like what you mean by that like after the game CBR celebrate let’s lock in we got to get ready we got to get ready to be tomorrow at the team meeting and things of that nature and let’s just stay focused and let’s continue to be better men you know and make sure that we keep getting closer with our faith and make sure that you know we lock in academically because this is the end of the semester so the academics and all those things are important and um I told them to go party tonight but make sure they take care of each other and any commits that are on campus that are around here partying make sure that they act the right way and do the right things so that way we continue to have a clean campus um I think this is a beautiful campus it’s so uh it’s beautiful here it’ll be a little bit of snow on the ground tomorrow and it’s it’s amazing to be able to see snow with the Christmas lights and things of that nature so I just wanted to have fun enjoy College as a for the winning team what was your first field storing experience like where did you get caught and I was just in the middle talking to the people that wasn’t my first experience you know I’m a winner so yeah I’ve won before a lot of other times but for here it felt good um it felt good to be able to be standing with my son and uh just encouraging him and letting them know this is going to be you one day this is what you’ll do don’t foret remember this moment this moment you had to bottle it up because this will happen again in a few years when I come to recruit you and this will happen with you and then I was just happy for those seniors I was excited for the band that’s why I wanted to make sure I made my way down there to sing the alamada it’s important that you do that show the support our cheerleaders our fans alumni staff I mean just everybody everyone should be excited about getting a win like this so it was a big deal all the way back to Jesse and then Mario next uh coach in the back here um just what you can say about Jackson Meek’s performance if prob like every time you you guys needed a big play when things were Clos in the second half that he was able to provide that for you guys in the passing game he a dog he a dog I mean he’s tough he’s a good player he’s intelligent his mom did an amazing job of just raising him so he has all the intangibles that it takes to not only do well in the college football game in a setting like that but also on the next level I’m excited to watch him in a bowl game and then his future in the NFL 367 days ago you were hired here and you had a vision of what Syracuse football could has this lived up to your vision no not at all wanted to win a National Championship wanted to go to the conference Championship all those two things didn’t happen but uh I guess it’s progress but you know just we I I wanted to go to a national championship there was nothing else on my mind except for trying to repeat what happened in 1959 or at least 1987 like those two things were important to me and um we can’t we fell short of that but um we we’re we’re growing you know so we just got to keep pushing but I want will never be satisfied with second place or third place that’s like losers mentality but I’m happy for our players that our seniors got to raise the standard of what it takes to be a Syracuse football player Christian coach congratulations thanks you too fam appreciate it so just looking at the season the resolve of the team not only in this game down 21 to nothing but all season long wi win against three ranked teams this season just what you could say about how this team offense defense and special teams is never given up in this 9 and three record I think we play um well together I think we tough the way we practice uh helps a lot you know um a lot of that goes to uh me having an opportunity to work at Georgia Kirby Smart getting able to see those guys and the way we practiced there for two and a half years um changed my outlook on football and I helped a lot and I was able to bring a lot of those same tools here being able to use that and the kids bought in right away uh so that meant a lot and um I mean we beat three ranked teams but they never rank us so w they just rank what they rank so we should be six then if they were six so I mean so I don’t know how the rankings go but we got to be somewhere you know how that goes I’m just messing around so it w be upset but uh I don’t really care about like the rankings and things like that I do really care about uh us just being able to maximize who we are as individuals on and off the football field and just being able to do that I mean you know how it is just getting them closer in certain areas of their lives that they’ll need for when it’s time for them to be the men of the household I want them to be able to run that household the right way way and not have a dysfunctional household you know so like that’s what’s really important to me the man more than the football player and all those things like that I think they’ve done a good job Christian then BR how much did that scoop and score from Devon Grant summarize just the impact on the play that he has had on this program since transferring in he a good player he makes a lot of good plays I mean that’s what he does he’s big play Dev um makes a lot of good plays sorry I keep saying um he makes a lot of good plays and uh he just got to continue to get better I mean Devon Grant’s playing on the Tor MCL so he’s been playing on the Tor MCL for about 4 weeks now he just that tough he won’t get surgery tell him we we forced him into getting it afterwards I mean he’s just a different kid you know he works extremely hard and I coach him extremely hard coach sha does an amazing job the way we coach him and we allow him to know like MCL toour that doesn’t matter not giving you no breaks we’re not doing different things with it make sure he work so that kid is really really tough mentally and physically and uh I’m excited that he’s coming back to college next year and we playing here with us again second side Fran when you flew to meet with Kyle McCord last year you were the first person there and I know you guys have had a lot of conversations about life but when you talk football is this what you talked about that this is what he could do put together one of the best single Seasons that Syracuse football has ever seen and if so how could he get there how did you convince him to do it um I don’t think I convinced him I think Kyle’s more of a man of feeling and he took a leap of faith trusting in me he understood that I had good faith and um I just told him like I needed him to be honest I thought Kyle was the best quarterback in the country at the time and right now proven that he is the best quarterback in the country and I said Kyle like I need you and you need somebody that completely believe in you I think our offensive coordinator is really good and our quarterback coach is really good and I need you to help my career said you could come here and Spark everything going for Syracuse and then you come to Syracuse and with all due respect to our players and all the people we have here that are playing ball but you’ll come and show that okay y’all said this at Ohio State and now look what I’m doing at Syracuse you know so now when you look at look what Kyle mcor came and done here at Syracuse compared to what he done at Ohio State cuz that kind of happens all the time but he has us with a nine and3 record right now and you go to two of those games on fourth and one and fourth and N he wasn’t on the football field but if the ball was on the opposite side of the ball right now we would be like in here cheering that we’re going to the conference Championship game I mean he’s an amazing kid he will forever um have a place in my heart you know will forever just be a part of my family that’s my guy man I love that kid a lot I’m very thankful for him I’m proud of him and his family and I’m thankful that they trusted in me and my family and um that’s my boy like he’s a good dude though like he’s a good dude like I know what they mean when they say hey I will let him date my daughter I always hear that bull crap like hell no no I wouldn’t let him date my daughter either but I’m just saying he’s one of those guys that people will say I let that guy date my daughter he’s a gly class Class Act kid Terry Collin it’s all about sports congratulations coach on your big win today appreciate it Terry um talk to me about what was the conversation going into that last Drive uh to your offense about closing out the game so that you didn’t even have to put your defense back on the field to close it out just two first downs and that um the offensive line we coming at y’all we going to get we’re going to jump on you guys back y’all help us do it it’s about the o line being able to do it and I always tell the coach at the end of the game number one is the toughest player on our football team give him the ball put the ball in L Quin Allen’s hands and L quent will make sure you get paid so you know we just make sure we put the ball in L quint’s hands and got him to go and uh as you guys keep talking to him get him to stay in college another year but we’re very thankful about L Quint he’s amazing kid orang in front and back here hey coach congrats on the win appreciate it uh how do you think dein Grant’s fumble in scoid score kind of changed the momentum and kind of push you guys to he just said that he just asked the same question I mean it it helped a lot we got a touchdown we was about to tie it up and we get a touchdown we go back up so I mean it helped a whole lot you know it helped a lot too right but it was it was a good deal I was very thankful that he done that I mean it’s a good play we just fumbled and he come back get a fumble and we score on ours so that’s the monotony of football you know and being able to do that and being able to score in a in a time like that in a in a setting like this it’s a it’s a big deal for a kid like that and I’m very thankful for him for being able to do that yeah and then making that stop um on third down kind of forcing the field goal toward the end had that kind of summarize the defenses kind of progression uh just coach e just constantly moving and doing different things I told Coach e all we got to do is be able to have one more Point than them at the end be able to stop him if you can stop him here we’ll win the game cuz we’ll go down and he’s done a good job he got a lot of stops in there was able to do it and uh really proud of him and just what he was able to do but that was coach E’s uh play calling down there to get them to force that field goal C back in the right here coach congrats on the win before the game you had a bunch of recruits on the sideline what does a win like this uh them and everyone who’s going to be entering the portal in the next week about what Syracuse football can be I don’t know I mean you know what it is we can recruit so that’s that’s easy I mean it’s very thankful I mean you win more kids want to come play here um you beat one of the better teams in the country cuz they are more kids want to play here but I mean that’s I don’t really know I mean it tells them that we we for real you know this is my first year having the opportunity of doing this so the weight room will play A Part we’ll get bigger uh we’re recruiting bigger kids our team will be bigger uh so I mean if you want to come and win a National Championship because that’s all I think about is being able to do that uh then you should come here cuz it’s coming you know time is coming real real soon you know but that whole time of November we’re homie at that was said we don’t win in November what’s up now but uh just making sure that you know November is the time that we win that means a lot you know what’s our record of November again go Man 4 4 and one yeah that’s right let make sure talking about we won’t we won’t win in November but uh 4-1 it’s pretty cool it’s okay but 4-1 it’s 80 % right and we got to be a little better than that but it’s a good deal who’s next cuz I want to hang with my daughter man last two we got players here we’re going to go to andley back coach you talked to us on Monday about how Camden’s going to show up today y to have this win in front of your friends your family you know people that have seen you get to this point through your journey what does it mean to have this huge win in front of your family and friends from where you grew up it means a lot like it mean everything um as I always tell yall My Wife and Kids God but then that City I’m from it just put something in me like something different it means more like everything about it you know when it coming they talk about toughness and things of that nature uh My Little League coaches get to be here coach Muhammad and all those dudes I just talking to them all week and um I’m a sble for life that’s what I play for in low league so then having an opportunity of seeing them and getting to see them before the game and knowing they here and just knowing how they had us work like the I’m the way I am now because of my little league football team you know and that’s never left me you know I lost one game a little leag and um that’s why I just know about winning you know that’s why I still cry when I lose as a grown man we lose I cry as you go I don’t get I told you I a get washed one day I made a big deal out of it I’m getting washed tonight though but cam means everything man it’s a we’re prideful uh City and it just uh I’m happy that we have an opportunity of being where we are right now I’m an educated black man head coach at Syracuse University I’m from that City where there’s a lot of uh bad publicity and I get an opportunity of doing something positive and being able to show that light so that way all those young dudes in school all the young kids the young woman the young woman can understand and know that uh you could go be whatever it is you want to be in life so and that City mean everything to me you know without without camon I’m not sitting here right now so I’m very thankful for them and everybody that came down I love them and I’m very thankful for them Ashley last question uh coach congratulations on the win thank you we’ve heard so much about your motivational tactics this year for the team was there anything extra that you did this week to kind of motivate the guys throughout the week no we was just doubt it you know and it was just like okay y’all doubting us we cool with that um they talked about Miami coming here and how great they were and all and you know I was like that like the Miami kids or this and like I respect Overtown cuz I go down there I got friends in Overtown like I hung in the pork and bean project so like I’m in the mixed on all those things like that but you know we go to Miami for vacation you know they don’t come to Syracuse to Vacation you R around see it’s like we don’t come here to Vacation you don’t go to camb in a vacation so it’s like like don’t try and test who we are you know I think early in the year somebody talked about Northeast tough and you know what that meant and what that was about so I just felt like we was just tested again you know about like how tough we are and our will and I think that the 21 nothing showed that you know we won’t quit and we’ll continue to push and it really goes back to like Syracuse football that’s let’s let’s go back to the history of getting able to bring that back you know Jim Brown Floyd Len Ernie DAV avav all those guys Larry zanka you know Tom Coughlin so many men that play here that are great men that went off in the world done the right thing Dwight Fry Marvin Harrison Keith Bullock and the list goes on and on and on and on football-wise then we look at John Lally who’s a businessman Cliff enle who’s a businessman there’s so many businessmen that come here that play football that move on in the world and are doing great things so you know I just kind of felt like we were disrespected when there’s a lot of great things that happen here and that come from up here Donovan d who was a kid in cam New Jersey just like me came here was educated played in the NFL 13 years so I’m just um I’m happy that we done this and honestly y asking me too many questions and I don’t even know how to answer them no more I’m trying to go party with our team and all these recruits thank you guys for everything I appreciate y’all y’all be safe all right
