Nearby Places is an extension of the Progress Map WordPress plugin that enhances your website by showcasing nearby locations, also known as “Points of Interest” (POIs), on the map. These POIs are sourced directly from Google Maps, offering rich and accurate data.
This plugin is specifically designed to work seamlessly with the posts and locations added through Progress Map. It features a robust search form that enables users to either target their current location or input a specific address to discover nearby points of interest.
The functionality doesn’t stop there. Nearby Places supports all place types available in Google Maps. When a user selects a place type (e.g., Schools), a comprehensive list of nearby locations will appear. Each place includes a detailed page with essential information such as the address, distance, website, photos, and reviews. Additionally, users can view the route to the selected place on the map, switch between travel modes (Driving, Transit, Walking, or Bicycling), and access step-by-step directions—all displayed within a widget without needing to reload the page.
The plugin is highly customizable, allowing you to tailor its appearance and behavior through the admin panel to match the overall design of your website.
To use the Nearby Places plugin, you must have Progress Map installed.
