all three points for them meanwhile Real Madrid are in serious danger of not even qualifying for The Knockout stages as we welcome in Franklin puff is with us as is uh Luis Garcia I let’s start with Liverpool I think first before we get on to to Real Madrid because they were the better team throughout this whole game thoroughly deserving yeah and I don’t think that was a surprise the way you were uh in Madrid at the weekend they beat legan so what this is a continuation maybe even worse than what we’ve seen from Real Madrid this season so there was no surprise that Liverpool were going to dominate this game particularly with nor Rodrigo and nor vus Jr and mbappe on this sort of sauntering about doing nothing kind of form Jude Bellingham not a whole lot better if if the truth be told uh but Liverpool were the composed self again it wasn’t this sort of herum scarum approach that we’ve seen before it was very composed it was very measured Midfield was excellent uh mallister and gra B and I thought not that it’s a surprise CU we’ve seen him play before many many times as a youngster I thought Conor Bradley uh I thought he made his Mark early on when he went over for that oldfashioned challenge on mbappe and and took the man and took the ball took the lot he he showed great Pace he showed great composure in that side be the mind he’s up against the supposed best player in the world it didn’t face him at all so I thought this side was from from the goalkeeper who had to do his bit now again all the way through was what we’ve seen for most of this season a Liverpool side that feels comfortable controlling games against the bigger teams that’s it isn’t it Lou you just felt this was a continuation of what we’ve seen from Liverpool under Anna slot so far this campaign and to limit Real Madrid to one attempt which was one mistake wasn’t it from Robinson apart from that they were pretty Flawless yeah I think we were we saw a very very solid Liverpool I think and I agree 100% with with Craig we saw in the in the very beginning that they know that against Real Madrid you cannot open up you cannot leave them at space you cannot allow them to to to have the ball or to try to to to create something you need to be on them you need to keep focus and concentrate during 90 minutes because in the moment that you make two mistakes you can be two goals away so I think that in every single moment in every single phase of the game H Liverpool control everything the ball the creation and the action the the the in the last it was it was it was capitalizing the chances because we saw one goal but we we could see that they were defining every single moment so I think it was an overall a very very good performance from from Liverpool not giving anything to this Real Madrid side just that mistake from from Robertson that arrived late and it was I think a poor challenge right there to to the Penalty but after that we could see two goals but he could have seen we could have have seen two or three more goals because Liverpool was controlling everything so I was happy to see that and a little bit sad because we watch Real Madrid every single weekend we saw them in leganes and we saw a good a good team a good performance but we knew that with that intensity that we saw it wasn’t going to be enough to play against this Liverpool side at this moment Lou don’t pretend you’re sad that real MD a rubbish crocodile tears there is he Frank FR Frank who impressed you today from Liverpool in particular kol Bradley I mean that young guy you know facing mbappe you have to have the pressure he was so mature and Craig mentioned the the tackle the old fashion tackle that he made oh I got up I got up and I and I applauded I was fantastic I love that guy I love the intensity that he puts into the game and of course you have to add my cister I I love new how well as well you know the way he was going for it we know him that he can be very clumsy but he never gives up so everything everything go perfect I found konate as well very good and I’m very worried that he could be injured for the the cruet game on Sunday um or Saturday um you know two days ago I said to Stevie that um I was concerned about the intensity that Liverpool will make will put into the game because of the that crucial game against Manchester City and maybe calculating the fact that it’s more important that those three points in championsship because they are almost already qualified but what the what the hell they’ve done today to Real Madrid it was a lesson of willingness of professionalism of everything you want to put into the game of the Champions League game that was amazing I want to see what they can do against Manchester City but it can be a hell of a week for for Liverpool and they rightly deserve all the credits because they they had a perfect game for me the interesting thing Shaq is I think that obviously expectations weren’t that high going into start of the season because Jurgen klopp was leaving on a slot very much an unknown entity but what has happened not only in the Premier League but also in the Champions League the only perfect side is exceeding all of those expectations yeah and listen we you have to mention that certainly Liverpool and and the the fixtures were kind to them in what seemed an easyish starter to to the campaign but they were able to to find their Rhythm they were able to find their confidence to the point where now you could play against Real Madrid at anfield and look so much better than the reigning European Champions and to that point and and I I I Echo what Frank said about about Alex mallister but it kind of almost um epitomized the difference in the two I I thought mallister was as brilliant as he was every time he picked the ball up in Midfield he just seemed to have space and time so Real Madrid how much can you point to the fact that you’ve got no venas Jr no Rodrigo no M no Alaba no Kaja all big players who would be starting this game not available today to many and Kamer gets injured I think there is some Credence to the fact that they’re a much weaker side without those players I don’t think there’s any doubt about it we’ve talked about young Al deer getting some game time but you know he wouldn’t get in the start in 11 Brahim Diaz has done a good job over the last Sly 15 months or so coming off the bench or starting in games against maybe weaker sides when he’s been needed but there’s no doubt that that these injuries have affected them but the counter argument to that is when they had the majority of these players in the first sort of six or seven games of the domestic season they were equally as poor and angelotti was trying to figure out a way around it we cannot get away it all going to come boiling down to what’s happening to Killian mbappe because he’s the superstar that was going to be and they chased him and they chased him and they chased him and he messed him around and blah blah blah and we talked about it but if the deal was finally done and we’re all like oh thank God now we can just talk about the football but it has been so disappointing you know and I you can’t carry a f team all the time right you just can’t but you you have to tell me tell me something that he did of any relevance you know he took the penalty he played a couple of neat 10 15 yard passes that you would expect but tell me that he got a ball and beat three or four people and kill her was scrambling and it it just didn’t happen there’s just no appetite for it and I saw him a couple of times as well and one time Andy Robertson took the ball off him in the left wing and it must have been from a set piece and before you know what Liverpool were were on the Counterattack because he’s what rate and you saw it from the Liverpool second goal he was one of the closest to stopping a short corner there was two of them out there he was he was one of the two and they did nothing they just let Liverpool take it which I think sums up they let Liverpool take the short Corner they rolled it in rolled it back and whipped in goal and they just stood watching and Jude Bellingham was interviewed I think before this game or before the weekend talking about oh I was the scapegoat in the summer for England they’re all feeling this pressure now I was the scapegoat he was not he he was not the scape goat right in fact most of us said we felt a bit sorry for him because Southgate was playing this negative tactic and he was out of position he was chasing back but it seems now that you know and I’m not just focused on him but it seems now they’re all looking for an Avenue because they know it’s coming you’ve been in Madrid it’s coming they keep this up is coming if Ronaldo can get bed and Jared if Bena can get bed and then anyone of this lot can get and if they continue in this manner it’s going to come at them very very fast the truth is though I I don’t think they are many if any clubs in in World football who can deal with the the injury list that Real Madrid have right now but how many times in the last five or 10 years we’ve seen Real Madrid in in moments of poor form but then all of a sudden the champions league rules around and they are just a different animal and they stake their flag to to to them being this club that rises to the biggest of occas and and and that’s the that’s a concerning thing to me when I you think about was was was it the the semi-final um against Manchester City last year where coming into that second leg at at the Ed had again you felt city were far superior than than Real Madrid but they were able to manage the game in a way that got them over the line got them to penalties and and got them through and you just wondered again big European KN big European uh opponent can Real Madrid just manage that game in a way that they only seem to know how to do yet we sat and we waited and to the point halftime is nil nil you just wondered when would Real Madrid get any kind of a foothold in this game they Liverpool go one up then the penalty then Liverpool miss a penalty there was never any kind of response and I don’t think for all Real Madrid’s ups and downs I cannot remember the last time I’ve seen Real Madrid on a champions league night fail to have any kind of a presence on over the 90 minutes over the entire 90 minutes every time there is a penalty like that it’s on the gloves area and Shak can witness me and uh and agree with me that the fight is if the goalkeeper choose the chooses the the the right the right side he’s going to catch it so that everything was was wrong were wrong but but it’s true that you have to see the old picture and understand the focus on on on mbappe and the fact he’s been criticized because yeah he’s not giving giv enough on what we expect from him and uh and that’s what it is and La last season the end of the season was as boring that as it is right now we have to be fair and he was playing for Paris s gerain we had some question marks as well um well he had a a bad European Championship because of a nose broken okay but yeah it’s for like I would say six seven months we don’t recognize mbappe and when he was playing before he was capable of um creating the difference on his own it’s not able to do that right now and uh that’s that’s really worrying me in a way that I don’t see if he’s going to be capable of getting it back because the pressure is going to be very intense right now and I hope it’s not going to be only on him because as Craig mentioned the beginning of the show where is Jud Bingham right now we it’s not the Bingham we have known and seen last season Real Madrid lost two leaders cross because of his retirement caval because of his injury and they don’t have any Le leaders I thought bellam would step up but we don’t see him and we thought that mbappe will go for it and express himself because finally is at Real Madrid and we don’t see it and with all injuries it’s becoming a big task maybe an impossible task for for car aneli sorry you can’t pick and choose obviously as a manager who’s injured and who’s not but I tell you that I tell you what I bet in some sense the Real Madrid manager is wishing he could if any of the two were injured it was Venus Jr that he had available of to be on the field absolutely not killing mbappe the other because at least he’s going to give you a chance to bail you out mbappe at the moment is as we’ve said is literally doing nothing but what we saw is well Lou so many times Real Madrid would give the ball away in unne unnecessary situations not just of course mbappe but pretty much the whole side is this just lack of confidence going through the whole team at the moment yes of course in in in different moments you can see the the lack confidence not only in the in in the defense but also in the middle of the park is where you need to create you guys are mentioning about the leadership that he’s been missing he’s been been lacking in this team since Tony Cruz was was out but today was mod so a lot of experience he can handle it and manage the situation trying to grab the ball but we we couldn’t see it because they they were playing against a team that put a lot of pressure into the middle today maal is there graen b and gon did an amazing job in the middle of the park so it was very difficult to go through but I totally agree that not having a player like Vinnie juniors in the left side canot give a lot a lot of confidence to to this Liverpool side because they would go forward today mbappe was lacking on confidence or having the ball he was doubting at a lot of moments or grabbing the ball we were expecting to do a lot better in the life in the side trying to make those diagonal trying to see the mbapp that we saw with the French team and also with the Paris Germain if we couldn’t see anything of that first of all because he didn’t receive so many balls because of that lack of of balls or good balls from the middle of the park but also because in the moment he has the ball he was surrounded and he was actually isolating one of the sides so I think B you have a lot more impact because he’s always that aggressive when he’s on the ball he always a big threat in the moment that he’s got the ball and always make you go back a little bit but definitely this this Real Madrid side is lacking right now of confidence every single um line of of the team speaking of of lack of leadership how on Earth is Luca Modric a player standing six yards out dead middle yeah there’s so many things about that goal that epitomizes everything that’s wrong at real MADD said you got short Corner no one’s coming how how does Luca mod find himself there yeah without somebody somebody saying something that for me is is just basic in a way that you you do not associate with Real Madrid [Music]
